As most people know beagles are very difficult and dont listen. Which makes it hard to get her groomed. We tried this place out the first time to just get her nails clipped and they were very understanding they did a great job keeping our pup calm and getting the job done. We went looking for a new daycare when the boyfriend got a new job in Beaverton. Since we live in Beaverton, it didn't make sense for him to go all the way into Portland before work and after work when it was his day to take care of our dog. We tried a different daycare first, but they were full so I decided to just go over to Noah's Arf to see if they would be a good fit. We met with a woman here that was really spacey, but there didn't seem to be anything terribly wrong with the place and we signed up. On the fifth day, the boyfriend was told that our dog would be given one more chance before being kicked out. Apparently he was "trying to get out" and "barking too much." This came as a bit of a surprise that after the first time being told this, he would get one more chance with them. It didn't sound like he was causing any real problems. Our dog has been to a few different daycares for different reasons (moving, terrible ownership change, etc.) and has never had an issue that had to do with him. Not everywhere is going to be a good fit for every dog, but when I asked the boyfriend if he wanted me to call and talk to them (I'm out of town), he said no. He didn't want our dog going back there because it was clear that the people had no interest in doing any work. I got the same impression the three times I had been there, as well, I guess I just didn't want to see it. All of the dogs looked sad. The space is very industrial . . . clinical almost. There was no playing with the dogs. It seemed like this was just someone's hobby that went wrong. If they could have a few small dogs to play with and the owners to pay their high prices for doing so, everything would be great. If it became anything like work, that would just be too much. So, for now, he is being driven into town and back each day, adding an hour and a half of driving to the day. The nice thing is that his normal daycare in Portland said they were very happy to see him back and that they were sad when they thought they were going to lose him. I know that some places are going to say this to get business, but he is clearly happy to be there (it's obvious when he can't control his excitement), and I would bet that his happiness comes from being treated well. I guess when you treat the dogs right, the dogs don't try to fight back against your neglect. read more

This is a fairly new facility that opened in March of 2013. I recently relocated within Beaverton and have been taking my dog, Ajax, here for that last two weeks. So far I am really impressed. The facility appears new and clean. They have two separate areas for small dogs and larger dogs which are separate from one another. They offer overnight boarding. The staff is very friendly. After bringing Ajax in just once everyone seemed to know his name which was really nice. Whenever I pick him up I know he has had a wonderful day because he will come home and immediately fall asleep! It is so cute. The only sidebar I have is that the last two times I have picked him up his paws smelled fiercely of urine. No worries though I gave him a little foot bath when we came home. Overall, very glad I found Noah's Arf as Ajax really seems to enjoy and the staff are very friendly and helpful. read more

I had my cat stay here for the first time through my vets recommendation since my vets place was booked up. When I came into the kitty condo place, he looked relaxed and comfy. I loved that the kitty condos are separate from the dog kennels and there's other kitty friends nearby in the other condos. I also got a cute report card and was happy to learn that he got some interaction and floor time with the staff. It made me feel better about leaving him for vacation. I will be taking him in again! read more

My dog, Wicket, absolutely loves Noah's Arf (and so do I). He goes there every couple of weeks and is ridiculously excited when I tell him he is "going to play with puppies." They are great with the needs of individual dogs... my previous pup was not dog-friendly so they kept him separated but in a place where he could lounge and check out the goings-on. I just returned from a 10-day vacation and knew that Wicket was in the best of hands while he was there. read more

Boarded our pup here for a couple days, and left with mixed feelings. The boarding area looks fairly industrial as it held prisoners for the county long ago. It's safe, but not exactly comfy. The play area is decent, and staff seemed friendly. Loved the "report card". I couldn't contact anyone after hours (er.. minutes), which left a knot in my stomach all night. That alone made me reconsider. read more

We take our dog here for day care maybe 2-4 times a month. He is medium sized (26 lbs) and usually ends up in the small dog area. He is clean when we pick him up. They clean the dogs when you pick them up with some kind of sanitizer, which works good. We've used another day care place in Tigard and our dog was quite dirty from that place's rubber floor when we picked him up. All in all, a 5 star day care would be leaving our little boy at someone's home for full time personal care, but besides that unrealistic option, Arf has worked well for us. We will keep taking him there as needed. Their location is close to Nike, if you happen to work there. read more

Our boxer has had 2 over night long stays, and is now going to doggy daycare twice a week. The staff is awesome, always knows her, happy to see her and she loves going. It provides us with the peace of mind on those days she is playing with friends, while being taken care of. Also a bonus having her worn out when I pick her up! I just started taking my gsd 1 year old to this daycare. My cat will be staying at ther kitty condo when I travel this year... I usually use sniff in the pearl so I have high standards for my dog.. I really like this place. The staff is extrely friendly and knowledgeable... The play area is clean and well attended. It is not too crowded. I am very fussy about my Shepard and they have been very professional about her care! read more

Just wanted to update our situation. After letting more dogs into their pen then they can control and banning our dog after months of good behavior. We love Noah's Arf - and their groomer, Monica! The ladies that run this location, Carolyn and Faith, are terrific. The employees handling the dogs all day are just amazing as well. Our dog, Guinness, is so excited to arrive at Noah's Arf, and is always a happy boy when I pick him up. I've taken my dog here a couple times. The last time I took my dog they said she was aggressive. My dog is a pit and I understand that she's an aggressive breed but she has NEVER shown any signs of aggression. The staff told me last time she was aggressive. I brushed it off because I never have had any problems with any other day cares or ever at the dog parks. I took her in today so she could get some energy out since its been pouring outside. I come to get her and find out they have left her in ISOLATION the whole time because they said she was too aggressive. I had to pay for her still. I'm infuriated because I could have just left her at home but I wanted her to be able to socialize with other dogs and not be cooped up. This is a TERRIBLE place. They don't even have anything solid to say about my dog showing aggression. The staff should have told me the last time they put her in isolation - I wouldn't have wasted my time or theirs by bringing her back. I'm upset for the mistreatment they had towards my dog. read more

They informed me that no one is on-site for 8-9 hours overnight when they board animals. I'm not sure what you are paying them for as I could leave my dog at home by himself for free and receive the same supervision. read more

We take our two dogs here and we have been for about 2.5 years. We previously used the place a few blocks away but were consistently more and more disappointed. Here at the Arf the dogs are the priority. They treat your dog well and are really great about getting them in for boarding and grooming. Their groomer is the best! So happy with this place - we would be taking a lot less trips without them. Keep up the great work! read more

I am not easily impressed by kennels, in fact it has been years since we have taken our dog to one because we always had family members to watch our dog. On our latest vacation though, no family member or friend was available to watch our dog so we were forced to take him somewhere. After much struggle I decided to try this facility even though it was an hour drive from our house. Needless to say I am so glad we did. Our dog is extremely shy around other dogs and would get depressed to the point of not eating for days at other kennels. Here, it was a totally different story. First off, it was clean. Very clean. And yes it smelled like a kennel but it did not smell like a dirty crap pit. Second was the staffing, they were out with the animals or out in the kennels, not just gossiping around the counter while the dogs were unsupervised. Lastly after 4 days our dog did not smell like he was wallowing around in crap, and his bed and chew toys were still clean. Yes, you pay more, but for us the extra cost was worth every penny. Top notch service, top notch staff. I cannot say enough about the wonderful experience our dog had there. read more

I really don't like to write negative reviews, but my experience with this place was so shocking that I had to let others know. I was attempting to book overnight boarding for the Thanksgiving holiday and spoke with one employee a couple of times over the course of the same day about general policies, procedures, and costs. I then finalized my plans and called back and spoke to another employee and proceeded to submit my application and vet records, etc. So at this point I have spoken to 2 people about 3 or 4 times and both of them have confirmed that the dates I need are available. After my paperwork is processed, I get a call from a third employee telling me that they will be closed on Thanksgiving and therefore my dog will not be available for pickup and will have to stay another night at cost to me. I gave her the name of the 2 employees that I had confirmed with already and told her that she should speak with them directly since they are giving misinformation to customers. Her response. Oh yeah, sorry. Without any explanation or offer to resolve the issue or to present other options to me. Just "sorry" in a little baby voice. I told her I wasn't going to be able to confirm just then and would have to call her back tomorrow since they were closing about 45 minutes after our call. The next day, I got another voicemail telling me that there is a "deposit" and they are wondering when I'm going to send that in. Again, I have spoken to multiple people over the course of a week and none of them mentioned paying anything up front. And now that they have inconvenienced me by changing the pickup dates (again, at COST to me) they are now calling back to ask for money. Nope nope nope. I will never use this company at this location or the one in Portland. Terrible customer service. When I called back to cancel the entire boarding appointment, they didn't even ask why or try to convince me to stay, so they obviously are used to people cancelling. read more

The staff really take care of you and your dog. They start out with giving a tour (nothing off limits) and complete the dog's stay with a pet report card. That was a cute and hilarious touch. They keep dogs separated by temperament, size, age, etc. and know what they are doing. My dog loved it and made new doggy friends. Thanks! read more

This is the first time we have left both of our dogs overnight with someone other than family and it took me a long time (with almost cancelling last minute) to be comfortable with the decision to leave them alone with strangers--especially when I was going out of town to a place where cell service is nonexistent. We chose them because the dogs get to play all day (not just a couple hours and the price was not that different than the others I looked at with a LOT less play time) and they are close to home with a name I've heard from people who used the Pearl location so figured it should be fine. The kennels were functional and I didn't realize that when they advise to bring a bed, bring an actual doggy bed. There aren't cots for them to sleep on with their blankets which is fine as long as they supplement bedding with blankets like they said they do. The cat ward was adorable and looked pretty clean. Nothing smelled awful. The front lobby was boutiquey and clean. The corgs are pretty wiped out which I'm hoping is because they played so hard and not because they didn't sleep well. I know my little fella is a barky creature but they didn't seem adverse to his behavior (in fact their reaction of being a little sad to see them go home when we went to pick them up was reassuring and seemed genuine). We loved the report cards and both corgs seemed to do well. My only major concern is that while it is obvious they've either been sprayed with a waterless shampoo or given a bath, their bedding smelled of urine and I cleaned their blankets before I left them at the facility. I'm not super impressed by that but I am glad they at least used their blankets (and at least one of the toys I left with them). Overall we recommend them for boarding (as long as your pet doesn't have separation anxiety or social issues). read more

Pretty great place! We had our dog stay with them for a week a couple of months ago. It is a bit more pricey, but they let your dog play all day instead of keeping them in a kennel! Our dog is high energy so it was good for him. I wish we had had some more detail about his stay, just as far as whether there were any issues because this was the first time we had ever boarded him. Even still, it was a great place and they were friendly every day that we called to check in on him! I would bring my dog here again, paws down! read more

I worked at Noah's Arf for a little over a year and I can tell you it was the most amazing job I have ever had. My only reason for leaving was because I was offered a job that was just too much money to turn down. The entire staff here is AMAZING. You will not meet a group of people that care about animals as much as these people do. They are always going above and beyond to care for the animals and give them loving attention. They work so well together and really have an awesome team mindset. They are all some of the hardest workers I have ever encountered too. I get along well with every single one of them and know that they are all very good-hearted people. The owner of the business, Kris, is so so good to her employees and seriously loves dogs and cats more than anyone else I know. She is always making sure we know how much she appreciates us and is very fair with everyone. So many dogs here LOVE her and she's always happy to get lots of kisses! I would eagerly recommend the Arf to anyone who asks. So if you are going to board your pet here, rest easy knowing they will get the best care out there by an outstanding group of people that are all very passionate about what they do. I WILL MISS NOAHS ARF SO MUCH!! read more

I took our 8 month old pit mix pup here about once a week for about 2-3 months. At first he was exhausted when i picked him up but after 2 months i noticed he was full of energy when I picked him up. When I would pick him up he was always in a kennel by himself and the owner brought him out to me a few times making comments about his pit bull energy. Yes, he plays rough.. he is a puppy. That is why i pay $30 to take him to daycare, so he can burn that energy off and learn to socialize. The last few times i picked him up i noticed not only was he full of energy but he was also cowering when we pet him which he had never done before. I just had a gut feeling something wasnt right. I called them and asked if there were any issues with him and I was told the day before he had been in "time out" several times for "instigating fights" and "being aggressive." This is a dog that LOVES everyone and has NEVER shown aggression before. When we raise our voices at him he goes in his crate. I asked why they havent addressed this issue with me and didn't get an answer expect that I might consider walking him more. Isn't this why I am paying for daycare? They did say they would monitor his time outs to let me know, but at this point I don't trust that good things are happening for him there. I have since heard some very unsetteling things about what goes on here. I won't get into because it is not something I actually witnessed but it validates what I thought was going on based on what I experienced with our dog. He seemed to be singled out because he had energy and was a pit bull. read more

I'd say this place is mediocre at best. I was wondering why my dog was coming come all wet, and apparently they spray them with water for "fence fighting" or something? I don't use water as a training aid at home so I think my dog is just confused and has come to associate the place negatively. It's the only place she gets sprayed with water for doing anything. Additionally, my GF went to pick up my dog once and noticed my dog in isolation -- she's a 20 lb. terrier mix who plays beautifully and kindly at every dog park we've ever been to. She asked why and they gave her some vague answer about her being picked on or jumping or something and also asked us to start giving them a call when we were planning on dropping her off too, which struck me as odd. Usually most dog daycare places are just drop-in etc. Basically I've had better experiences and my dog seems to dislike arriving and loves leaving. Currently looking for other options. read more
