Initially, I wanted to take my car to my homeboy around the corner, but I couldn't find a single place to park. The guy with the flatbed recommended we bring it over to this place on Devoe. It was late, I was tired, I said "what the hell, take it to your guy's shop instead." Early this morning, when I googled the shop to get the exact location, I came across some really mixed reviews and I must admit, I began to panic. Listen, my car isn't a Concours d'Elegance winner, but I love it just the same. I got a call just after lunch from Anthony who clearly identified the problem and gave me a quote before he started work. I felt that the quote he gave me was spot on and he said he could have the car should ready by the end of the day, or early tomorrow. Roseanne called me a few hours later to let me know that they were able to get the parts and my car would be ready before 5:00pm. What can I say, I was ecstatic! I rode my bike over to the shop and saw one of the mechanics working on my car outside the garage. We chatted a bit, he showed me what the problem was and what needed to be replaced. As it turns out, the guy wrenching on my car loves Volvos just as much as I do. Not only that, but he really knew his stuff. I have a pretty rare engine/trim combo that only Volvo guys can appreciate. He recognized the uniqueness of my car and took the time to point out other preventative maintenance specific to my model. We bumped elbows, he started the car and I was back on the road. I drove my car around for a good hour and it felt great. I'm super happy that the guys at Alfaro were able to get my car back up and running in such a short period of time. The professionalism and respect they gave me was first class. Even though they're a bit farther away than my regular guy, wouldn't hesitate to bring my wonder wagon to these guys again.

Brought my car here the other day: disaster. The best thing…read moreI can say about this place is that they are kind. I brought my car when my headlights started failing. They told me to come over right away. I brought my car, they said they would call me within the hour to discuss what they had found and talk about price. Four hours later, I called them. They told me there was nothing wrong with my headlights, they were working perfectly (despite the fact that the night before they had shut off every minute until I kicked the dashboard and turned them back on). I told them that I had found an article online (the one that told me to kick the dashboard) that said there was something wrong with the LCM. They said they would call me back. I said ok, but I need my car by 8am the next morning for a 3 hour drive to work, each way. They didn't call me back, and the next day, I show up at 8:10, my car is not ready to go. After waiting for about 15 mins for someone to come talk to me, the "boss" came to me with a black box in his hands. He said there was a recall on my LCM, and pointed to a printout of the recall. So he had removed it. He told me I could go and buy the part and bring it back and he could put it in. After spending hours on the phone with various dealers, I found out that the LCM SHOULD NOT BE REMOVED! The recall was for a rewiring kit that would be installed in the LCM. Additionally, if I wanted to buy the part to bring to this guy, I could spend hundreds of dollars. Alternatively, I could go to a Ford Dealer and have the recall repair done for free. He didn't tell me that. He charged me for labor and told me to come back. The LCM is the part of your car that is in charge of headlights, blinkers, brake lights, and your horn. I drove 6 hours in NY traffic without any of those. These guys are hacks. They don't know what they're doing and they were trying to get me to spend hundreds of dollars for a service that they knew I could get for free.
