What a great sushi place! The restaurant is convenient for lunch and not too crowded before 12/12:30 during the typical lunch rush. The dining room is pretty small in general and it's certainly has basic decor. That doesn't matter much as the food is excellent - especially the fish which is fresh and tasty! There are several lunch options available for sushi and rolls as well as other typical Japanese dishes. They are reasonably priced between $10-15 - which would include a roll and 4 pieces of sushi. There house rolls are OK - I've made my way through much of the list and there are some great ones - the dynamite roll and other no-so-great - the Galapagos roll. It depends on your taste and expectations in terms of flavor and texture. The common theme is that the fish is fresh and their rice is also made properly which adds to the flavor of the sushi and rolls. I went for lunch and enjoyed the sushi and teriyaki salmon combo lunch special. They start you off with a hot towel to clean your hands which I love. Food was really fresh and expertly prepared. Spicy tuna roll was very fresh and perfect amount of spice. The salmon teriyaki was a great size portion and tasted really great. Took off one star because the service was a little slow and it's a little on the higher end for price at lunch. My lunch special was $15. Not horrible but not a place to get super value. It was very difficult to pick out a decent restaurant in the suburbs that my friend and I could both agree on. Since neither of us have tried Nobori before, we decided to give it a try as our meeting location. Nobori Sushi is a very small, very authentic Sushi restaurant. We were greeted by who I am assuming was the owner, a very nice and old Asian man who seated us immediately and also served as our waiter. Like so many other Asian restaurants, do not judge this book by its cover. It looks like your typical strip mall Chinese food restaurant, but inside is a very welcoming, clean, and delicious sushi place. Oh and they bring you out steaming hot towels before you order. My girlfriend said this is very typical at restaurants in Japan, so that was the first thing that made me think, wow this place is legit. We ordered 3 of their signature rolls to share, and I believe we got 3 half rolls. Next time I would go with the full size rolls because for just a few more dollars you get double the delicious sushi (half roll is like 9, full was 13 maybe). Cannot speak for anything else on the menu besides the signature sushi, but all the rolls we had were very good. As a fellow sushi chef, I would love to see my friend noboru do good with his first restaurant. Foods are always satisfying. Service is over the top. It's just feel way too empty every time I go dine in which is a little sad since they have decent food with decent price at nice neighborhood. The Chicago Fire roll was great! The Nobori roll was very interesting with the mango on top but pretty good. The chicken in the chicken teriyaki combo was kind of dry, but the sprouts that it came with was good. The combo was a good deal because you get a soup (or salad), 3 pieces of sushi, a California roll, plus ice cream for dessert! Our waiter was very nice and attentive. We had a $25 restaurant.com certificate so we got the 2 rolls and a chicken teriyaki combo for $50.95 before tax and tip. We spent about $38 in the end. When I first visited this establishment the food offerings were innovative and BYOB. Now after about a year in business the place continues to be innovative and now have a liquor license. I was pleased to see the choice in libations, but dismayed since I had brougnt my own bottle. To my delight the owner of the restaurant did not turn my bottle away, in fact the bottle was corked and the wine was light and lovely. I have to say that the food is in fact very fresh and the flavors are also very tasty. My new favorite roll is the Hawaiin roll. I would not have ordered this roll had the other peeps in the group ordered, but after taking my first bite, I was hooked. The hawaiin roll has mango, and is wrapped in rice paper. Their agadashi tofu was honey sweet, soft and with just enough crunch. I speak for the kids when three plates of Chicken Teriyaki was split between 6-7 kids and devoured. I am not much for Chicken Teriyaki myself, but the chicken breast was fork-tender, and also very flaovrful. Knowing my kids demanded seconds of this chicken entree deserves a thumbs up. The Chicago fire roll, Galapagos roll, and the Hamachi plates were cleaned off as well as topping the night with desert of green tea and mango mochi ice cream. Service was also very attentive by the owner. The table was always cleaned off of empty plates and hot tea and water were always replenished. Being able to accomodate our table of 11 and keep the kids entertained is a plus in my book. read more

My wife and I absolutely love this place!!! Our favorite sushi place in Chicagoland...and not for nothing, we have tried quite a few of them. The fish selection is some of the best quality that I have had, always extremely fresh and flavorful. When it comes to rolls, I enjoy a combination of very traditional (simple negihamachi or tuna rolls are some of my favorites) and modern creative rolls. What truly sets Nobori apart is the latter. For fans of spicy I highly recommend the Chicago Fire roll, which is a wonderful melange of flavors and textures topped with eel and spicy mayo sauces...at a glance they seem far too much but when you eat a piece they all blend perfectly. This roll also has the distinction of being a nori-less roll, wrapped instead in pink soy "paper." On the more traditional side, fans of classic sushi flavors absolutely MUST try the salmon skin (might I suggest a hand roll). One distinction of this place is that Noboru uses the skin from smoked salmon rather than plain, with a thin layer of flesh still on it. This is the salmon skin that you didn't know you were missing, but once you try some it ruins you for all other salmon skin. As far as service: the staff (most notably the owner, Noboru) is always friendly and attentive without hovering...which is an impressive feat considering the relatively small size of the dining room. One warning only.....Nobori Sushi is highly addictive and has been known to cause uncontrollable cases of hunger. read more

This place has so much potential and for many years was a casual but good quality sushi spot in Glenview. However in the past year so I've seen a great decline in quality of the fish, the sushi itself and the service. Tonight's dinner was the nail in the coffin for me. When we sat down, a waitress came over and took our drink orders it took her quite a long time to come back, and when she did we informed her that we needed to be out in one hour due to a show. She Then proceeded to tell me then that we could not order sushi, because they just received a big carry out order and it was going to take over an hour to produce any further sushi. I looked around the room and do your were several tables waiting to speak to her about the same thing. A sushi restaurant they cannot produce sushi fast enough has no business taking carry-out orders. I ordered a seared tuna tataki appetizer instead which was not really what I had intended on eating for dinner, but we were in a hurry. The dish was prepared well but it was so spicy I could barely consume it and finally put a plate aside and ate a few bites of my daughters entrée. The waitress clearly saw that I was not happy with it and did not try to rectify the situation or even apologize when I told her it was barely edible. We had to ask for water continuously and I heard another patron get out of his seat and walk across the restaurant to ask her where their appetizers were. Long story short I asked for the check right away and left. I do not plan to return. If you're looking for good sushi in Glenview, do yourself a favor and head over to Blufish instead. Better service, better quality fish and craftsmanship and bottom line better overall value and experience. read more

Our family consistently chooses to dine at Nobori because of the outstanding quality and presentation of their sushi as well as a number of wonderful Japanese entrees. Nobori is always introducing us to a new delicacy that he and his chefs have prepared. Recently, he has added various wines and Saki to his list of refreshments to go with either lunch or dinner. Our special loves while at Nobori include Tuna Tataki as an appetizer, with Chicago Fire Roll, and our very favorite Nobori Roll. We feel a part of Nobori's family at this point. This sushi place is awesome! The rolls are fresh and delicous, filled with mouth-watering fish and not overpowered by rice (which many sushi places fail in). The salmon roll is absolutely melt in your mouth, orgasmic good. The other rolls are pretty good too and the owner is your server which other people have mentioned which I think adds a homey touch to your overall experience. What I like about this place is that the menu is huge, but I wouldn't give it all 5 stars because I think it might be a lil pricey for a suburb place. As often the lament, there are far too few decent sushi places in the burbs. Nobori is definitely a go to on my list for a sushi fix...it's not too trendy, loud, or attention getting, but I relish in the fact that it isn't. The owner is so kind and welcoming, he even helped us get as much food as we could to fit our restaurant.com coupon. The place itself is in a strip mall, and seats 20-30 people. You'll have the same roll selection here, but have a few surprises too. We went with the safe bets, the tuna/salmon etc, but i'll update once we get to try some more adventurous stuff. I make it a point to eat here at least twice a week. The environment is very simple, clean and friendly. The owner Mr. Nakamura can be seen waiting on tables and talking to the guests and even one time I witnessed him going out to make deliveries!
