My girlfriend and I were looking for some clean eats around 11 PM tonight and we surreptitiously stumbled upon this place. The menu is flush with fresh foods and earthy refreshing drinks. The portions are small by "traditional" standards which I like since most restaurants are too calorically-dense. After eating you actually feel good about yourself =) Price is incredible for the high caliber ingredients. Even better they are open until 2 or 3 AM. We split the vegetable burrito with a side of hummus, and each got a juice beverage (very natural and organic). This is definitely a hidden gem! I had a couple of friends tell me about this place. They did not have a sign up in front and it was located in a small strip center. I would have never found this place if it wasn't for a friend telling me about it (and also providing directions). The place was very empty. The server greeted us immediately and brought us a bowl of popcorn and cucumber waters. I ordered a noodle dish which turned out to be awesome. This is a "healthy" restaurant/juice bar so you'd typically expect a lack in flavor. This was definitely NOT the case! My noodle dish was bursting with flavor. I also ordered a carrot juice, it had a very earthy taste but was perfect in my own opinion. This is a place I would definitely return to! read more

I went during lunch and had the lil Pad Thai. It was very good. Not a lot of sauce which I liked and more sprouts than noodles which I also liked. I wish I had tried a juice but I wasn't very hungry. I also had a soup before the meal. It was a vegetable broth soup with thin mushrooms, that was also good. I would go back if I was in the area again. I was the only one there surprisingly for lunch time and it took pretty long. I had to hurry up and eat after I got it because I had a meeting but I'd hate to think how long it would've taken had it been packed. read more

These guys fed our huge group after my wedding. They did amazing at being prompt, they catered to the rigid diets of 20+ people (including 2 vegetarians and a vegan), the food they brought out was so beautifully dressed, garnished and arranged and not 1 person in our group had a single complaint about anything. Words cannot explain my love for NOKturne but I'll try. I have been here MANY times. I am in love and basically married to the chorizo melt. The mango lassi is fantastic. The edamame is always yummy. The Vietnamese coffee is strong but sweet. The atmosphere is chill and relaxing, perfect for studying or hanging out with friends. I never feel rushed and have spent quality time with friends here, unbothered. They have an extensive juice menu and almost everything on the food menu is healthy. They cater to vegetarians and vegans which is a major key. NOKturne is not everybody's cup of tea but I strongly recommend you try this place out. It's such a rare and wonderful find. P.S. @NOKturne please bring back the potato chunks. I miss them dearly. read more

If you're coming here to eat: This review is about the food only!!! Before I get too in -depth: I understand why this place is so popular, people Come here to hang out, it stays open super late (which is a nice change of pace, given the only other places to go after the bars close are limited to fast-food). The teas and juices are good and super creative. the atmosphere is pretty cool. This is a fun hang-out spot... but I'm basing my 2 stars on the food alone, if I came here just to hang out I'd probably give it 4 stars, BUT this is a restaurant. To start, the Pad Thai and fried rice were okay, maybe equivalent to pre packaged ones you find at the store, the frog legs were the toughest ones I've had in my life. Drizzled in something like Sriracha. I was so disappointed in those. The steamed buns had a mixture of herbs that didn't seem right together. Very little seasoning on anything. The bun was bland and dry, inside tasted like wheatgrass. For the price, it's not worth eating here in my opinion. Overall, everything was very bland. I feel bad giving this place a bad review, but I wanted to be honest. The stuff on the menu sounds so much better than it is. Again, if you're just coming to hang out and get a juice or something, by all means. read more

I had been wanting to try this place for a while. Clear Lake has been becoming more eclectic, slowly. Still, this is a place I would expect to find inside the loop. That's a good thing. NOKturne is billed as world/health cuisine & juice bar. The availability of vegan & vegetarian dishes is welcome and sorely missing from Clear Lake (and scarce in Houston in general). The food is unassuming but creative. The bread dish was a couple of cups of some of the most delicious buttered & herbed popcorn I have had in a long time. We ordered the guacamole which was refreshing - full of lemon juice, and ginger was an unexpected & unique addition. I had the veggie sliders (baby portobello mushroom caps with avocado, sautéed greens, pesto and Dijon mustard on whole wheat buns) which were filling & tasty despite the kitchen being out of tomatoes. The side was a lovely surprise of steamed broccoli with hoisin sauce - simple but so good. My fiancé had the umami bomb which was an elevated take on miso soup, using kombu seaweed to create a strong umami flavor which is often hard to achieve in vegan dishes. I also had the pearl green tea, which was good. The service was attentive, although it helped we were the only ones there for the majority of our meal. Price is extremely reasonable. I will be back. I look forward to trying some juices and coffee, and several other things on the menu. There is a coffeehouse-type area apart from the dining room that would be good for studying, and the place is supposedly open until 3 AM, which is another thing severely missing from the Clear Lake area. As a vegetarian it is hard for me to find restaurants with a wide range of options for me, but the majority of NOKturne's menu is geared towards vegans and vegetarians! That's not to say the food isn't filling and satisfying, even my carnivore boyfriend LOVES this place! I try something different every time I go and have yet to have something I didn't like. They have juices and smoothies that are out of this world, as well as free "flu shots" on Sundays and Wednesday's that are great immune boosters. I had been going to this restaurant since they opened their doors(sometimes every night since I get off at 4am and didn't want fast food) and was always satisfied with food and owners....but the wait time and prices are ridiculous. On more than one occasion they took over an hour for your food, but the last draw was when we called in for delivery, it took 3 HOURS for our food, when I called they said it was on its way but still took another hour. Once the food arrived they asked full price for food that was 3hours late, then delivery driver asked for a tip, and the final thing was THE $80 3 HOUR LATE FOOD WAS FREAKING COLD AND THEY WOULDN'T ANSWER MY CALLS AFTER! I am really rooting for this place to be a success, however, I think a little market research would serve them well when it comes to menu options. I gave three stars because I appreciate the effort to being the new kids on the block and venturing out of the typical "clear lake" fair. We live across the street and I tend to work late hours, so I appreciate the option of non-fast food during the late night hour. We ordered a fresh juice, 4 chicken wings and a breakfast burrito but had to wait 30 minutes to eat. We were the only patrons in the restaurant, but two others did walk in and ordered about 10 minutes after. My guess is that most items are frozen and they needed time to defrost, then cook. This is the only logical explanation going by the other items offered on the menu. With the extensive amount of different ingredients and proteins, there is no way anything is being served fresh. The breakfast burrito was ok, nothing I can't make, if not better at home. The chicken wings ( 4, really?), were a little soggy, but the flavor was good. The juice was good, but again, why did it take 30 minutes? I think the menu needs to be simplified with standard choices but with a "worldly" twist... and QUICK! read more

so i'm hoping i can review this place again in a month or so and pump up my rating! this place is cool. the idea: nocturnal noshing. During the summer they're open from 8 to 8, so my girlfriends and i went for girls night. we got there around 8:05pm, and the place was not open....there was a guy in the parking lot sitting in a car saying the owner was on his way. random....finally around 8:15 the owner came and let us in. bizarre. anyway, they have like 10 menus. it was really confusing. they really need to consolidate down to one menu. we kept on swapping menus to see everything that was offered. food: they offer an eclectic mix of international foods--heavy on the asian influence. everything sounded great, but we were only there for juice. they have a 5.99 breakfast, too. and they serve shark. juice: like a bagillion juice options. again, the menu was really long, confusing and hard to read. it would be better if they told you all of the fruits they had, and you could customize your own, and then just have a handful of drink suggestions. I got the pear pie, which was fresh pear, ginger and cinnamon. it was great. they served it with dried apricots on the side. juices run $5-$7. also. they don't offer smoothies, which seems kind of weird. juice only. ambiance: this place is still growing up. right now it's kind of sterile with tile floors and hard chairs and tables. signs say that they're still under construction and a 'lounge' will be coming soon. i'm looking forward to that part of the restaurant! i'll be back again, hopefully after some of the growing pains have been worked out. read more
