I love coming here for their detoxing drinks and snack food. I used to frequent this place all the time with my friends and cousins. I love the fact about how late this place is opened for. Me being a night owl actually appreciate these hours. Not many places open til 3 or 5AM. I was just here a couple hours ago after a long time and nothing much has changed. Food is still good. Drinks are still good and the service is great. Ambiance of this place is cute and you can actually do your homework or read if you would like. This is a review solely on the food and not the service since I never sat down inside. Actually, it was mostly delivery. When you're starving at 2 a.m., you gotta do something about it. I did venture in one time to pick up an order through Yelp. The interior is very nice. Mellow colors and a calming atmosphere. The chairs in the waiting area aren't that comfortable, but you make do. So lemme talk about what I ordered for during my stay in Houston! First, I enjoyed the juices. I got some Sweet Sunset watermelon juice and it was delicious~ Sometimes eating a watermelon can make your jaw tired. Juice makes it better. I tried all sorts of juice and they were all a-okay with me. What I was really into were the steamed buns and the veggie burrito. Huzzah! Those buns were fluffy and flavorful! I could easily eat three orders of them in one go. And the burrito! Something about cooking veggies in coconut milk is magical. I always planned on saving half of it for lunch the next day. Never happened. Om nom nom! The one time I decided to not get the veggies buns, I got the curry rice... It was tasty, but very very dry. Not enough sauce! The prices are a bit much. I got some sauteed mushrooms and asparagus that could have been $4 less than they were. I'm not saying they weren't good! The citrus-y flavor of the asparagus was lovely and it was cooked until it was soft, yet had a snap... But I don't think I can justify paying $10 for some mushrooms which are usually a side dish. All the hype surrounding NOKturne is completely deserved. I'm so happy a place like this exists in Houston. Goodness knows, they need something positive. read more

NOKturne... I read vegan and I was skeptical but I looked at the menu and figured I would give it a shot. Don't miss out on this place people. The food was great and service fantastic. I even ordered a vegan burrito and it was better than expected, although I felt more like it was a wrap and not a burrito it was tasty. The veggie soup was amazing also. Nothing was over salted which is my biggest complaint when eating out since I use almost no salt in anything anymore at home. I tasted food and seasoning instead of salt. My wife had pad Thai which was also good except not as spicy as she would usually order but, it isn't a Thai place so I wouldn't expect it. We also both had tea and that was fantastic as well. Finally tried NOKturne after seeing it for years. We are trying to eat healthier, so thought we should try it. Short summary, okay food, but the place is not our cup of tea. The steamed buns filled with greens were good and enjoyable. The Moqueca Bahiana (snapper in a tomato, pepper stew) with plantains was good, unique, and enjoyable. The potato flautas were good. Our service was attentive and fine. We found it to be clean and pleasant enough, and there were other tables busy and enjoying themselves. However, the place didn't immediately grab us; the vibe was off for us, no coziness. It was echoey with odd instrumental music playing. The tables, chairs, partitions, wall hangings were just not warm and inviting. The things we tried were certainly interesting, tasty, and well prepared. But nothing is calling us back. For others, this would be a 4 or 5, but not everyone is the same and it is a 3 for us. We'll try it again sometime, I'm sure, but it will probably be a while. Chorizo sandwich was spicy, hot and delicious, very very good. Gyro sandwich was absolutely fantastic, next time I'll order extra veggies! This next order compelled me to review.. the potato flautas. Second time ordering and second time disappointed. I really want to love them but the potato filling needs some seasoning, even salt and pepper would help. This place is very over priced. We came at midnight, so the service wasn't that great but it was late so that's expected. We ordered our food and my girlfriend had ordered "The Onion" ($6) and I had the curry fried rice ($7). We also shared the steamed buns ($5.) We were kind of iffy on the Buns because of the vague description of "leafy greens." When the food came, the waiter told us if we didn't like the Buns, he would discount them since we weren't too sure about them. The portions were nothing compared to the prices. Attached is a picture of 1/5 of "The Onion." The portion given seemed to be the equivalent of one quarter of a whole onion. We ended up disliking the taste of most the food and the waiter gave us half off of the Buns and was very accommodating. We are now at whataburger, still hungry after we already spent $20 on "food". It was late at night, I was hungry but I wanted something light and healthy I looked at the menu and they were quite a few things but I decided I the Gyro wrap, it was perfect it was soft not chilly it had some great flavors in it it was not dry it was perfect and I had it delivered and the presentation of the delivery was lovely, the box was nice it was still nice and warm everything in it that you needed plus an adorable tangerine half peeled and a piece of delicious wrapped up candy I would definitely eat those again and have them delivered again light and healthy read more

So I went a little hard during the World Series, it happens. Thought I'd give pretty much the only local juice option a try. Whoops! Now I get it juice bars, hippies, sustainability. This all leads to one thought. Hippie, dirty unbathed hippies with BO and dreadlocks. Or, maybe that's just me. Either way I had pretty low expectations. I wasn't expecting a corporate looking Jamba Juice or Snap kitchen. So with low expectations I entered the facility. First of all it's dark, sparsely lit and even more sparsely decorated. What really got me though was the overpowering sent of middle eastern spices. It actually made me close the door and step back past the curb to double check the sign. It's not unpleasant, just confusing. I was pleasantly surprised that the gentleman behind the counter wasn't high as a kite. He was however completed in interested in helping me as there was an issue with the computer. No worries I browsed around the menu found their cleanse and to my surprise it was cheap. $39 according to my brisk online research is extremely reasonable. I asked a series of simple questions. What flavors, how much liquid, how many calories. To which I received some very simple answers. "I don't know, a lot and it varies between juices also I don't know." I very calmly replied it seems like you're busy do you have a menu I could take home (there place is inundated with every food delivery platform in existence so I assumed maybe they were a delivery based business). "No we don't have a paper menu but you can take one of the real ones". I picked one up thinking "great" till I realized the menu has a very limited selection of juice and no info on the preset cleanses. I asked if he had a juice menu I could take to which he replied he only had one and it was all online. To make a long story shortish. It is absolutely not online or if it is, it isn't accessible to the public. Ended up picking my juices up downtown on the way to work. My first visit here was during a lunch break, the location is pretty close to my office and I had been meaning to try it for awhile (seriously had it bookmarked for ages!) It's a quiet, relaxing little place with nice tranquil music playing. Lots of little tables abound, I chose one to sit quietly and read my book that I had brought with me. They give you complimentary popcorn which was very good and tasted fresh! It was soft and had great seasoning. I even asked for some more because I finished it too quick! I decided to order the lunch meal for $8 and got the chicken zest sandwich which comes with soup or salad - I chose the soup (a leek and carrot soup - vegetarian). I also ordered the carrwash juice (carrot, beet, celery, apple, orange and kale) and I didn't really mind the taste too much but it wasn't my favorite out of all the juices I've ever had. The soup came first, and it wasn't bad but did not have a lot of flavor. It could definitely use some sort of seasoning. The real STAR of the show was the chicken zest sandwich! It was delicious!
