Lahmacun

I stopped by on a weekday evening early. The place was empty. It started to fill up while I was eating. Kofte kebab was my favorite item here. Kabob was flavorful. And the side rices and salads were excellent as well. Lahmacun, some call as Turkish pizza, had good flavors. I think it would have tasted more if there was more meat.

Loved Nomadic Kitchen! My sister & I visited Nomadic last Thursday and it was nice and quiet. I was a bit nervous because my one year never really had Mediterranean food before and I wasn't sure what she would enjoy but glad there were dishes that she actually likes! What we ordered: - Mezze Combination: I love that they have this platter of dips for you to eat with the fresh pita bread! My favorite definitely was the hummus and beets! - French fries: Standard fries, pretty crispy and fresh. My daughter enjoyed it. - Beef Kabob: The steak was medium rare and super flavorful! The whole plate was delicious! The two pilafs also were delicious and it went well with the steak! Thank you to the owner who also gave us rice pudding for our girls. It was super yummy and my daughter definitely enjoyed it. Overall amazing food and experience! Definitely will be back again soon!

Pretty good! Mezze combination 9/10 - HUGE portion with a nice basket of bread - can serve 3-4 ppl !! - didn't like some of the items but I don't know what they were - as a pickle hater, I was surprised to say I like Turkish pickles - it was nice to be able to try a lil of everything - I'm obsessed with the sesame bread, it was chewy and crispy and warm. Chicken & beef kebab 9/10 - their chicken and beef are SO JUICY, very well seasoned - idk what kind of rice is on this plate but the seasoned one is rly good, seasoned well and had a nice texture - portion is small but if you get an appetizer you'll def be full Overall, service was really good. He kept checking on us. Vibes were okay, it's like a family style restaurant but was empty. The only thing was the water cups look kinda crusty....so I drank from my own water bottle. Would come back!

We visited Nomadic Kitchen this past weekend and it's easy to see why they're so highly rated. We tried the mezze combo and chose the hummus, babaganoush, ezme, and mint tzatziki. All four were incredibly delicious. The bread served with it was also super soft and fresh. We also ordered the Nomadic Pide, which was another banger of a dish. It had the perfect blend of spices and cheese on a crispy flatbread. The lamb kebab was fantastic as well, tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. We'll definitely be coming back.

I stumbled across Nomadic Kitchen on Yelp and the reviews looked amazing, so since we're fairly close around the area, why not give it a try? It's Mother's Day weekend and I thought it would get crowded so we had an early dinner around 5:20PM or so. It was actually fairly empty when we arrived, but their outdoor seating filled up while we were eating. My partner and I shared a Babaganoush. He got a Lahmacun as his entree, and I got the Falafel plate which comes served with rice, salad, and a basket of bread. The Babaganoush was prepared pretty quickly. I would say it's one of the top babaganoush we've ever had. It's got a nicely smokey flavor to it, it's chunky, but also light. I also love the added small additional spreada surrounding the babaganoush. I'm not sure exactly what was in those, but some was creamy, some was spicy, and some were refreshing. A very nice appetizer with a bunch of different textures and flavors. When our entree came, I was mildly surprised at how large these plates were, but thankfully, it wasn't that the portion was huge, it was just beautifully plated, and I would say, portioned nicely (quality over quantity for me). The salad was fresh and had a light vinaigrette mixed in. The plate came with five falafels and a big spread of hummus for dipping. The falafels were kinda moist, and it had a nice crunchy outer fried layered, but not oily. The hummus was very smooth and had a nice flavor to it. As for the rice, that was surprisingly very addicting! It had a light coconut-y flavor to it and the rice had a slight mochi-like chew to it. It kind of reminds me of broken rice. It was a delicious entree! As for my partner's entree, it's his first time trying the Lahmacun. It's sorta like a meaty pizza on a thin flatbread and you wrap salad in it. It tastes pretty meaty by itself, but wrapping some salad it in balances it out nicely. This spot is worthy of the reviews. Service was very friendly, food came fast and it was absolutely delicious! If we lived around the area, this would probably be a top favorite of ours.

Nomadic Kitchen has been one of those dusty bookmarks that we finally got around to try! It was quiet at 5 pm on a Saturday night. Many tables were available for our choosing. Unpretentious, casual cafe vibes! Service was friendly and efficient as well. ***OUR PICKS*** MEZZE COMBO (4) Our choices among 8 mezze: *cucumber salad ~ cucumbers tossed in pomegranate molasses vinaigrette. *babaganoush ~ roasted eggplant, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and spices. *hummus ~ chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and spices *pink lady ~ red cabbage, lebneh, and spices A basket of bread is complimentary. We enjoyed the variety of mezze. We liked the pink lady the most due to its flavor and contrasting tartness, hummus was creamy and babaganoush had a good smokiness (tied in 2nd place), and the cucumber salad was our least favorite. We would have liked the cucumbers to be crunchier and diced into cubes. They were sliced paper-thin, wilted, and soft from sitting in the pomegranate molasses vinaigrette. We didn't care for the texture, but the flavor was good. We thoroughly enjoyed everything else. The nicely warmed basket of bread was generous, yet necessary to eat with the mezze. They even put a small amount of other dips alongside our 4 chosen ones, which made it even better. It was also artfully displayed on a platter. Great starter! Next time, we will choose something other than the cucumber salad. Still, this appetizer was yummy! 5/5 LAMB KEBAB PLATE ~ they displayed the food nicely on a platter making it visually appealing and appetizing! Rice was fluffy and not sticky, lamb was tender and was well-seasoned with tasty spices, salad was colorful and fresh, and I believe the item that came with the meal was bulgar? It had a tomato-y flavor. Though it was not mentioned on the menu. Everything on my plate was prepared well and on point! 5/5 Kofte kebab plate ~ beautiful presentation of delicious food! My guy was impressed and enjoyed his meal. 5/5 Redwood City isn't a usual destination for us, but it might become one! We'll be back to try other things on the menu whenever we're back in this area. This was a memorable meal! I highly recommend trying Nomadic Kitchen, if you like Middle Eastern food!

A cute, warm neighborhood gem! All of the staff were friendly with their jokes and warmth and made our dinner enjoyable. The chicken was very tender and extremely juicy. The mezze platter was a great variety (we loved the hummus) and the sesame bread was wonderful. Portions are on the leaner side so be sure to order extra things.

This place is legit. From the warm hospitality of the owner to the delicious food, Nomadic Kitchen has officially become a regular spot for me when I'm craving solid Turkish food. Our party shared the appetizer combination with four items, the cucumber salad, and three kebab plates--kofta, chicken, and falafel. Everything was absolutely delicious. The kofta was beautifully seasoned, the chicken was incredibly moist, and the falafel really knocked it out of the park. The cucumber salad was light and refreshing and paired perfectly with the appetizer plate, which also comes with freshly baked bread. The restaurant itself is smaller and more intimate, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Our server was very welcoming, happy to make recommendations, and had a great sense of humor, which made the experience even better. Nomadic Kitchen is located on Broadway in Redwood City, on one of the streets now closed off for outdoor dining. Parking is easy to find by the post office or across from the fire station in the Marshall Street parking garage. Highly recommend if you're looking for great Turkish food in the area.

Those Stellar ratings... I see what the hype is all about. I was a bit skeptical about the stellar ratings. It looks like it was earned justifiably so... We walked past here a couple times and thought we should give this place a try. Well this was the weekend it happened. Nomadic Kitchen is a Turkish restaurant churning out some tasty food. A mid size fast causal small business with a decent amount of seating inside. It's in downtown RWC, so embrace the challenge of parking. lol #TurkishEats: ~ MEZZE: Mezze Combination - 4.5/5 Just about everything was excellent. I could have sworn we ordered the smaller of the two combination, but we end up getting the bigger combination. Oh well, no complaints. We got to try a goo a majority of the messie menu. ~ PIDES: Nomadic Pide - 5/5 Apparently according to comments from my fellow Yelpers, this was a must try it. So we gave it a try, absolutely no regrets; like a fancy craft Pizza / Flatbread. Best way I can describe it, since I don't know what a Pide is...delish! ~ ENTREES: Kofte kebab - 5/5 This was one of the best kabobs I've had stateside in a while. The meat was tender and full of flavor. The Entrees come with rice, salad and a basket of bread. Unbeatable value for some delish food. ~ basket of bread - 4.5/5 delish! I think this is made in house, and if it isn't I want to know where they buy the bread! I'll be a regular there... Service was good, all the food came out at a decent time. We got a chance to me Hasan, the owner and chef. Nice guy, very friendly. Great experience... I'll definitely be back!

Came on the suggestion from a Syrian man that refinishes our deck every few years - so we went and were notndisappointed! We ordered the mezes combo with 4 items but the chef gave us a sample of all of the messes - all were delicious with depth of flavor and a joy to eat - couldn't pick a favorite - see the menu! Then I ordered the beef and onion enclosed pose, son ordered the beef kebabs, and husband ordered the Lachmacan - more bready than he thought but he still enjoyed it - it is in the description - the pide was delicious with warm soft dough and tasty spiced meat enclosed - kid said his was good but no adjectives given lol - full with leftovers but ordered the Kunafe anyway and it was also delicious - sweet, crispy, chewy, delicious - look at the pictures, looks delicious and it was! Hard to choose among the Mediterranean restaurants around here. Try Nomadic Kitchen, you won't be disappointed.

incredible small business serving turkish food, including some more traditional items! standouts are the mezze, pides, and the kofte kebab. i've been here twice now and i love the vibe sitting outdoors on a nice day, enjoying some mezze and chatting with friends. usually no wait for a table as well, which is convenient. i've had probably all of their mezze options and they are all excellent, but the standouts are the pink/beet hummus, babaghanoush, and dolma. you really can't go wrong though! the bread that comes with it is SO incredibly fresh and delicious, we always inhale the basket and ask for a second (free refills!!). i've had the chicken kebab before, but the kofte kebab is better - moist and flavorful, served with fragrant rice/grains. there's a side salad as well with the kebabs. the sausage pide was amazing too! it had a nice chew to the dough and the flavorful cheeses and sausage were mouthwatering. i've tried the lahmacun and thought that was pretty nice, but i prefer the pide. everything is very fresh and balanced, so you'll feel satisfied but not weighed down or unwell afterwards. super impressed by their offerings!! this is such a good spot for a casual lunch or dinner outdoors, especially with a few friends or family to share the plates. service can be slow, as it appears to be family-run, but it's well worth knowing that everything is fresh and prepared with care. if you're craving some good mezze or want to try some real turkish food, would highly recommend this spot!

Soooooo good! Would come back again just for that white bean mezze with bread. Outside chilling with a cool breeze with the umbrella up to shade us from the afternoon peak sun. Would definitely come back again to try something else

Had a wonderful dinner at Nomadic Kitchen! We sat outside and the heat lamps worked great. The mezze platter of 4 items were all delicious, but also came with 5 other small samples of other off-menu items that the owner likes to try out - it was all very filling! The nomadic pide was also a large serving and delicious, warm, and cheesy. The service was very kind and attentive but not overbearing, and the price was great for the amount of food we got!

We shared three plates and I would agree, it's not going to stuff you full, but the quality is of the dishes were all very good! We began with the complimentary olive oil/balsamic dip with a bread that resembled pita (google says its probably called bazlama). The bread was heavenly! It was fluffy yet chewy and came out piping hot from the house oven. Wish we could get refills on this! The first of our ordered dishes were the stuffed cabbage rolls which were definitely a labor of love. They were chock full of flavorful beef and rice and served over a bed of garlic yogurt. It was hearty and comforting! The second dish was the Sucuklu pide which featured the turkish sausage, cheese, and an egg yolk to spread all over. It was like a breakfast pizza of sorts, delicious! Last but not least, we had the octopus. That was an absolute star! It was tender eand paired perfectly with the mashed potatoes with paprika butter. I would absolutely welcome a return trip to try more of the menu!

Seven months ago: I wanted to try the Nomadic Kitchen, but…read morethey'd close before I got there. Next choice was Pasha, with a covered patio & hookah lounge, as well as a large open space inside. The lemonade cost $7, which I wasn't willing to pay unless it was at least 20 oz. Iced tea isn't listed on the menu, so I asked. Made of freshly brewed real tea the day, it was quite welcome. The tea was served in a cut/molded glass pineapple shaped glass. Truly practical: good grip, less likely to slip. Uncommon, but attractive. I ordered the salmon wrapped in lavash bread, minus onions & mayo. I asked for hummus bi tahini instead. There was lettuce, cucumber, & unripe tomatoes (It's tomato season, folks, but most restaurant produce suppliers just sell for bulk, not necessarily peak/in season. That's a different, more costly supplier) inside the wrap, the char-grilled salmon just right. I'd say that even if I had eaten earlier. The salad was marinated (I think) red cabbage over lettuce, cukes, & pale tomato. The whole meal--no dessert--was really tasty and welcome. The staff was pleasant, the food was true to its eastern Mediterranean roots. While ostensibly Turkish, there were Armenian and Greek elements (erm, both done wrong by the Turks). I did get a top-off offer for my iced tea, which I happily accepted. My meal was just over $20, including tax. I'm going back next time I have a medical appointment at the Redwood City Stanford Clinics--or a special trip to Sigona's (after I e. Grilled salmon had a sauce to add to the lovely flavor, but was slightly overdone for my taste/ uniform pink, as opposed to darker pink center, which if reheated, will not be too dry. In spite of using red onion instead of the whites of green onions, the tabbouleh was just right. The red onion dice didn't bite, as un- or slightly cooked onions do to me. The tomatoes were ripe, too. I have to take most of the tabbouleh and pita, and half the salmon home: portions bigger than stomach. Happy tum!

There was a lot of miscommunication between employees, one staff member told us one thing, then another employee came over and told us the opposite. It honestly felt unorganized and confusing, and when we tried to clarify, the interactions came across as rude rather than helpful. Before coming, we had already noticed the reviews were pretty mixed, with a lot of people praising the food but also many mentioning issues with the service. Sadly, after our experience, we can understand why. Customer service really sets the tone for the whole experience, and unfortunately the staff interaction alone was enough for us to decide to leave instead of staying to dine in. We genuinely wanted to give this place a fair chance since we drove so far for it, but the overall experience just didn't make us feel welcomed.

I need to talk about this place because it was genuinely great…read more I ordered the Greek salad with hummus and pita, and everything tasted fresh. Not fresh from sitting in a cooler. Fresh like it was made right then for me. The hummus alone was worth coming back for. The guy at the register was one of the warmest people I've dealt with at a restaurant in a long time. No script, no fake customer service voice. He seemed legitimately happy I walked in, and that's not something you can train into someone. It's just who he is. One more thing that stuck with me. I watched him come out of the bathroom drying his hands with a paper towel, so I could see he'd actually washed up. Sounds small, but you'd be surprised how often that's not the case at restaurants, and it's an instant dealbreaker for me when it isn't. The bathroom itself was spotless too, which tells you the whole place is run right, not just the parts customers usually see. Fresh food, real hospitality, and a clean operation. This is the kind of place you want to find and tell people about. Highly recommend.

The outdoor seating area has a lot of potential, though it feels like the space could be used more effectively. The indoor seating was much nicer and had a better atmosphere. One highlight was the gentleman working there, who was warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind throughout our visit. His hospitality made the experience more enjoyable and left a positive impression. The salmon was probably the biggest disappointment. It seemed a bit overcooked, was served slightly cold, and was missing some of the buttery richness we were expecting. The chicken and beef souvlaki were both good and enjoyable, but they weren't particularly memorable. The fish and chips, unfortunately, fell short. The fries weren't very crispy, and the fish itself lacked flavor. Overall, nothing was terrible, but most of the dishes didn't really stand out. The friendly service was appreciated and helped offset some of the shortcomings in the food. We'd be open to giving the restaurant another try, but based on this visit, it was closer to a 2/5 experience for us
