Is the pizza good? Sometimes. It all depends on the day and time Of day. The food other than pizza ? Yuck. I mean they should just stick with the pizza I admit, when it's right it's delicious but I've had it a times when it's soggy crusted. Recently I had the chicken scarp. Just dreadful. First of all the chicken was tough as can be, the sausage tasted like old food. As if it had been cooked days earlier and dried out completely. the sauce was just loaded with balsamic vinegar. I feel like I was eating tough chicken and sausage that's overly dry doused with vinegar sauce "Old food " is how I best describe it Even the salad was not thoughtfully produced. When you have cucumber slices that are 2 1/2 inches in circumference it's laughable I mean you need a fork and knife to cut the cucumber piece it feels like someone was too lazy to carefully cut the salad into the right size It just feels like carelessness to me I even tried the rolled eggplant Parmesan. My wife and I have been longtime (15 yrs +) customers of Nonna's and happily drive the 30 minutes it takes us to travel there from where we live. The pizza needs no introduction, excelling as it does, as do the sandwiches, but Nonna's offers MUCH more than that - just in case you weren't aware. The Baked Ziti is exceptionally good, as are their chicken dishes, particularly the Chicken Giambotta and Cacciatore. The fish (other than the fried calamari) though tends to get overlooked - for reasons I cannot understand. The shrimp, clams and mussels are some of the best (and freshest) I've ever tasted and the Zuppa de Pesce is phenomenal. I also adore their marinara sauce, which is flecked with pieces of fresh garlic and lovingly prepared with what clearly are imported tomatoes; that if not Marzano are their closest cousins. I think they have good pizza when everything goes right, but they were having an off day when I ordered, which happens. Its just the mistakes took away a bit this time. Ordered chicken soup, mozzarella sticks, margarita pizza, Neapolitan pizza, and a Nonna's pizza for delivery via ubereats. While I ordered chicken soup, I received pasta Faggioli soup. Which was fine taste wise, just not what I ordered. For the mozzarella sticks and the pizza, there was a common theme of everything being underdone with the exception of the Nonna's pizza. About a little more than half of the mozzarella sticks where very light colored, and I wound up cooking them some more in the oven to try and make them more golden brown, which worked out. They're the longer/thinner type of mozzarella stick. There was a similar issue with the plain pizza and the margarita pizza being undercooked. The pizza had almost no hold to the slice after an inch or two, and I missed the nice crispy texture/crunch you get when biting through the bottom of a slice. The pizza was honestly better the next day when I put the slices in the oven to heat up and they more fully cooked. The plain pizza was ok, the margarita pizza had really nice slices of basil and had a good amount of sauce. Their sauce is a bit sweet for my taste personally, but still is a good pizza sauce. The Nonna's pizza was the best overall of this bunch, it was the most cooked, had a nice crunch and was a good thin slice. I will eat here again and see how that goes. read more

Crazy busy byob brick-oven pizzeria with highly professional staff and full menu of pasta standards, all for astonishingly reasonable prices like a cheese calzone for $6 and zeppole for $0.60 yes sixty cents. But no reservations, they won't call your phone and standing around until a table opens up is awkward, unfortunately there's no bar in this strip mall where you might wait with a beverage. Bread and bruschetta comes automatically with butter no olive oil on the table, we added a large Caesar salad at $8, perfectly dressed & served 4 people a nice portion each. A neapolitan i.e., round pie had a well-risen crust but floppy middle and no char on the bottom, I confess I like crispy crust and forgot to request it well done. The cheese calzone was fluffy perfection, served with a side of red sauce. My fave was linguine white clam, 8 large shells plus a bunch of chopped meat over pasta in a great white-wine sauce for $15, very very good and seriously underpriced. Vegetarian rating: 3.5 stars for the salads, cheese pies, various pastas and two eggplant options. Good cannoli, freshly filled, $4 each. Gotta come back to try the other styles like Sicilian. Fantastic pizza. I was in the area, hungry, and saw all of the Yelp love for this place. So I gave it a shot. I got a Margherita slice. Delicious. The guy topped it with a handful of fresh basil when it came out of the oven. Highly recommend. It's in the same shopping plaza as a Trader Joe's. I had no idea - so that's a bonus. Dined in here for the first time. Wow the pastas here are unbelievably good. My girlfriend loved the penne vodka and I thought the baked ziti was very good. The line for pickup is constantly almost out the door, that's how well this business does. My favorite part of the meal was the side of meatballs, probably one of the best meatballs I ever had , so tender and good. The service here is AMAZING. The owners are the nicest people and so accommodating. This is one of my favorite restaurants in New Jersey and prices are extremely affordable for massive portions. Highly recommend. This is the first time I have actually came to Nonna's for a sit down dinner! I have always been a fan of Nonna's, however, I've only ever ordered from here for delivery or pick up! I came here for a sit down dinner for the first time on October 26, 2018! And for a Friday evening, it was definitely crowded. But why wouldn't it be? Nonna's is great! Their pizza is phenomenal and their entrees are just as good! Unfortunately, we waited longer than the 15 minutes we were initially told. However, it was worth the extra 10 minute wait. When we were seated, someone immediately brought us water and fresh Bruschetta and bread with butter. We ordered Rice Balls as an appetizer and it was amazing!! First time I've ever had Rice Balls for Nonna's and it was the best Rice Balls I've ever had! Dinner was also great and the portions (just like when you order to-go) was huge! See attached photos.... Nonna's is located in a strip mall. If you didn't know it was there, or weren't looking for it, you might not even come across Nonna's as it blends in with the other stores. This place is super busy every Friday or Saturday evening that we have been here, even though several other pizzerias are very close by, some within walking distance. There must be about 10 or so people working hard making/cooking pizzas behind the counter, where the ovens are. Lots of people are eating at tables and more waiting while, at the same time, the take out business is brisk. That has to tell you something. It is the kind of place that doesn't take reservations because they don't have to, and probably don't want to because that could actually result in lost business if people don't show up. It is also kid friendly. One of these times I have to try a regular entree however the pizza is so good I hate to miss out on having it by ordering something else. On the latest visit we ordered the meatball appetizer - three jumbo meatballs covered in marinara sauce with a dollop of ricotta - that was excellent. It arrived steaming hot with plenty of freshly made sauce. Our pizza was a Nonna's pie, half with sausage and onions added and the other half as it normally comes. The crust was thin but not too much so; it was crispy and cooked just right. The tomato sauce topping was fresh and tasty, so good. It was large enough for three to finish although we couldn't because the meatball appetizer was so filling. Nonna's is BYOB so before heading over be sure to take or pick-up your favorite vino or maybe wine, as most of the sit down customers do. Our family regularly enjoys a good pizza night out and we have found at least 5 or 6 really good pizza spots within a reasonable driving distance from home. My friend recommended Nonna's saying that the pizza was outstanding. That was months ago and I live pretty far from Florham Park so planning a visit was a "back of the mind" kind of appointment. The crowd at 8PM was 5 deep but the wait was surprisingly brief. After our friendly hostess found us a table, we scanned the menu but had already decided that the Nonna's pizza was going to be our choice. My wife also ordered a small house salad with balsamic dressing. When it arrived, we were both stunned at its size - it was enough for two and then some. We also received a small plate of excellent bruschetta and fresh bread and butter. The salad, by the way, was filled with olives, red peppers, cucumbers, onions and shaved/sliced carrots along with crispy lettuce. Worth ordering indeed. When the signature Nonna's pizza arrived - their take on a Grandpa pie - the smell was intoxicating. I dug in after snapping a picture for the review and said, out loud, Oh My! Yes, it was really that good. Lots of care went into this pizza. Thin, perfectly charred crust topped generously by a chunky tomato sauce and excellent mozzarella and a sprinkle of grated Parmesan. The temptation to eat it all was there, but I limited myself to 3 slices, planning on a yummy Sunday snack. For dessert, I asked our waitress for a suggestion and she said that the cannoli and zeppoli were her favs. We split a single zeppoli and wished we ordered 4. So the other night my husband ordered a chicken parm hero and upon eating it bit into a metal screw. Yes, a metal screw. No damage to his teeth luckily but I immediately called Nonna's and spoke with John who seemed very concerned. It was almost closing and they did offer to replace but my husband was too tired to go pick it up! The next day our son, a frequent visitor, went over to Nonna's to show them. I did realize that I like more sweet sauces than tangy and their's was more sweet. Then the pasta! They brought out 2 pasta dishes, vodka penne which was a little undercooked but the sauce was way too good. Also another pasta which I think was just buttered garlic, texture reminded me of gnocchi. Then they brought out chicken parm, which I passed on because and then I had for the very first time this veal dish, veal marsala?? Omg I died haha. This place is delicious I really like their pizzas and salads I think the Pompei salad is the best one it has goat cheese, caramelize nuts, cranberries and greens with a lovely balsamic dressing to the side. you can always add grill chicken or grill shrimps they are good and their price is excellent. I totally recommend it. also, their vegetable pizza is so good. Nonna's seems to be very well-known in the area. This place was packed on a Sunday night and I've heard that there can be a long wait most of the time on the weekend. It's a good sized dining area, complete with a smaller section for grabbing a slice out of the case. The pizza case is huge with many offerings of different slices. If I lived or worked closer to the area, I would probably come here regularly for slices. We were sat right away because we opted in to a small table off to the side which nobody wanted to sit at. My boyfriend and I both ordered pasta dishes - stuffed cannelloni and baked ziti. The star of the meal was definitely the appetizer we got - meatballs with ricotta. The meatballs were exactly how I like them, which is still soft and easy to cut into. They also provided complimentary bread and bruschetta, which is always a plus in my book. However, the bread was served cold as if it had been in the refrigerator. Typically bread should be served warm with butter. Service was friendly and fast, despite the place being super busy. I've heard that their Grandma's pie is excellent so I would like to come back and try that soon. read more
