Haven't been here in a long while, but have been hungry for their noodle bowl for a few months now, so called in an order last night for me and a friend. I like the noodle bowl with extra teryaki chicken on it, and my friend tried the sweet and sour chicken bowl, as she had never eaten here before. When I showed up to pay for the order, it was correct on the screen and I also asked the cashier for the asian slaw on the side, as I don't like it added into the bowl. When they handed me the order I looked inside and saw no slaw. When I mentioned this, they said they thought I'd cancelled the slaw, but promptly got me a couple of sides of it. I wish I'd checked the entire order though, because when I got home, I had teriyaki chicken with rice and was really disappointed. The staff has a real disconnect with getting orders right, because I've had this problem before when dining in, but with takeout only, I wasn't going to drive back. But if I had wanted chicken with rice, I could have just stayed home and made it myself. So word to the wise people, check your entire order from this place before you leave. We have been regular customers at the Noodle Express on Sullivan for years. Tonight we ordered our usual Chicken Osaka bowls to go; with 2/3 vegetables and 1/3 brown rice. After 26 minutes, I realized my beeper was not working. Our meals were kept warm under the counter lights but by the time we arrived home the chicken had been sitting out for over 45 minutes. When I checked my receipt I noticed I had been charged an additional charge for the rice/veggie change of $2. Also a $2.76 tip was added without my permission. As a senior citizen on fixed income, I was very disappointed in the food, dead battery beeper, long wait time, and the audacity to expect a tip for a counter to go substandard order. Restaurant employees in the state of Washington are paid the minimum wage and not subjected to tip credit wages. I hope that this was a one time situation that can be rectified. One of the things I like are consistency. This is the reason why I love this place. The food is cooked the same every time I have ordered food here and made well! The staff are friendly and always willing to make sure you are take. Care of. The food is very affordable and a healthier option than eating some greasy fast food options. Everything is cooked to order and comes out fairly quickly as well. I order the Osaka Beef rice bowl, double the meat which comes with their salad. I love the tanginess the sauce on the beef and how amazing tender the meat is. It is my go to when I can't make a decision. The salad is kind of like a coleslaw which has been been almost "pickled" and compliments the dish well and balances the other flavors. read more

Came here @noon on a Monday. The place was fairly busy but had ample parking. We ordered our food and found a place to sit. I ordered the chicken and shrimp Osaka bowl with coleslaw, brown rice and extra Osaka sauce... this is absolutely my favorite dish ever and I've eaten it probably 100 times. The food is delicious, service was great for as busy as it was, didn't really wait to long to get our food. My wife ordered the chicken teriyaki with coleslaw and potstickers. They continually struggle to provide a consistent quality product as they get busier. It is so disappointing because their food when done properly is great. They really should bring the Mustard Seed back to the valley because it's a better version of the food (I know y'all are the same company with the same recipes but wok vs. flat top is completely different), but back to the Mustard Seed, they slow down and make the food right. Been eating here a long time, from time to time, not regularly. IMO really overpriced. Prices haven't changed much but portions sure have. You barely get any meat. When they are on, they are definitely on! However, the portion sizes vary greatly depending day today. We've come two or three days in a row and gotten completely different portion sizes on the Osaka chicken. My real complaint though is the following: when you pay with a card, they add a default 20% tip on all orders. You have to manually change the tip amount on their screens. 99% of the time I order takeout and come inside to pick it up. It makes it so awkward to change the tip amount and I feel like it's really inconsiderate to automatically put a 20% tip on card orders. read more

Food was super yummy, and they serve HUGE portions! I got the chicken noodle bowl my husband got the beef noodle bowl. We also shared an order of egg rolls and potstickers. The black sauce had a little kick to it and the orange sauce was the perfect amount of sweet and tangy. We will definitely be eating here again. Next time I'm getting extra veggies! read more

Slawtastrophy! My daughter ordered noodles with slaw. They even asked her if she wanted grilled vegs instead of slaw. Nope, she wanted the slaw to mix in with the noodles. We pick up our food from the counter, items on the tray and a bowl of slaw next to it. We see the noodles, no slaw. So my daughter reaches for it, the cook barks, that's for another order! We tell him we have slaw with the noodles. He is adamant, reads the order off his screen. Yet there is a bowl of slaw sitting there. And worse yet, the place is empty, no one has ordered. We say whatever, pick our stuff up and are dining in. We are sitting right where we are staring at the counter, the cooks. The slaw doesn't move. People start to mill in, the slaw remains. Staff look at us, look away. The slaw remains. We finish up and look up and catch the cook sheepishly pulling back the bowl of slaw. Doesn't make eye contract. The food here is mediocre at best. If Panda Expess is too authentic for you, then this is your place. Just watch the service. They seem to be really concerned about cabbage. Might be that with no one there they need to save that cabbage, I know it doesn't spoil very easily. Maybe it ended up in the next meal someone ordered?. read more

Noodle Express consistently provides some of the best customer service I've ever experienced! The food, of course, is great for the price, but it's fast Asian food, but it's not Panda Express or even Safeway Deli. It's definitely a step above. But back to the service. About 80% of the time, I order ahead by phone for takeout. When my number comes up on their caller ID, they have my usual order saved and will ask if that's what I want. All I have to do is say, "Yes, please!" and 10-15 minutes later I'm eating delicious food! Definitely my favorite local Asian restaurant. read more

Here's why I appreciate Noodle Express: 1) I shop at Safeway sometimes. There is this very cute checkout girl who has a piercing on her face (yum!). But she has to wear a band-aid over it. I also shop at Hastings. There are several employees there who have piercings that they have to cover with a band-aid. Really??? What world do we live in where seeing a band-aid on someone's skin is less offensive than seeing a sterile piercing? I love that the employees at Noodle Express are allowed to show off their tattoos and piercings without shame or cover-up. So kudos to the progressive management on that! 2) It's delicious. 3) See number two. Holy crap, it's good. Their Osaka sauce is amazing. And the sweet thai is super yummy as well. I'm a vegetarian and recently found out that they cook their white rice in chicken broth. So if you are not an omnivore, make sure to ask for the whole grain rice. It's chicken-free. Also, they have the best chopsticks in town. It's a clean break every time. Nothing worse than snapping cheap chopsticks in two only to have the top of one stick to the other. i am extremely disappointed with my visit last night, i usually come here every other week for a noodle bowl (always very delicious) and i am not usually one to get on here and wright a review especially a negative one but, when i came in last night to get my bowl there was an employee laying in the booth passed out...i thought this was just maybe someone on their break laying down, but after overhearing a conversation while waiting for my food between other coworkers turns out the employee was heavily intoxicated. i'm very confused why an employee was even aloud to work being that intoxicated. this experience has made me not really wanna come back :( read more

This is one of my favorite places to eat when I want a quick bite to eat. My favorite is the Chicken Osaka, my fiancé's favorite is the shrimp teriyaki. The meat portion is wimpy, so you have to get double meat. It's great food, but a little pricey for what you get. They finally answered and took our order but when we got there at 8:10 the door was locked. The workers were inside but refused to answer our knocks or make eye contact. Online said they were open until 10 but apparently they closed at 8. There was another guy there at the same time with the same problem. Not bad. Based on their sign that read "Soup... there it is!" I was looking forward to ramen, or maybe some faux pho, so it was with disappointment that I found the only soup to be had was miso. I got the shrimp ginger noodle bowl and potstickers and it was ok. The potstickers were bland and not crisp on one side as they should be, and you only get two or three. Good in a pinch, but being from the SF Bay Area, my standards for asian food are pretty high. I should have known when I saw no asian people inside. read more

The Osaka bowls are delicious! The same quality as you get from the original Mustard Seed. I don't live close to Noodle Express but will make the drive because it's always worth it. I have fond memories of this place when I worked in the Valley, because during the time I worked in the Valley, there was always snow on the ground. Noodle Express was the way to warm up. I had a colleague who loved to eat as much as I did, and he was a big fan of the osaki and I would often get the shrimp noodle soup add add in some potstickers right to my soup. I could eat there for around $10 (soup was around $6 and potstickers $3) and I could make it back to work within the hour, easily. The Valley doesn't have a ton of great places to eat, and working off of North Argonne made eating even more scarce. The place has the ambiance of an ex-Taco Bell, but the food does what it should and gets you where you need to be. I wouldn't say it is particularly "Asian" but it is good for basic noodle bowls that you can dress up how you like. read more

Small place, clean , really friendly people and amazing food. You can customize almost anything. Get half rice half noodles and make it as spicy as you want it, swap the asian salad with the steamed veggies etc.. Only thing is.. Its Fast Food! read more
