Wrapped up Valentine's Day weekend at Burosu Ramen!…read more We arrived at 12noon with just a couple other people waiting to be seated. We had a reservation but realized we didn't need it at that time. We were able to choose our table -- nice corner booth in front. Service started quickly. Given it was our first time here, we had to try the Howaito (Tonkotsu). The husband chose to have his spicy. We added the Make Me Special Roll to share. Our order came out quickly. It was all incredibly fresh! The ramen was AH-mazingly delicious. The broth was light, flavorful and satisfying. The roll was meticulously prepared and so good! Our server was very sweet and attentive. There's so much more to try from the menu. We look forward to coming back (very soon)! Free street parking close to the plaza was easy to find when we arrived but there were no open spaces by the time we left. There's underground parking nearby and some behind the plaza.

The sake we ordered (Dassai 45 - $28) was OUTSTANDING. The Howaito ramen and spicy tuna crispy rice were great and tasted classic. The lets gold roll was delicious and the truffle sauce that came with it was so good. The good vibes roll had too much lemon/yuzu flavor for me but was still nice. The cutlet was so crispy outside and SO juicy inside. Service was quick and kind!

It feels like a quiet escape, and the food more than makes up for the location. You have to try the Beyond Ramen--the broth is rich and hits all the right savory notes. We also grabbed the fried cauliflower wings (pictured), and they had the perfect crunch. Pro Tip: Grab a seat in their outdoor seating area. It's super chill and makes for a great vibe while you eat. If you're looking for a solid plant-based spot that isn't the usual crowded scene, this is it!

The music was loud for such a small place. The prices have gone up to match a caliber of dining they don't match in food quality or service. I had dumplings that were so soft, sticky, and poorly made that using chopsticks was impossible without them breaking apart. The ramen arrived with a different presentation than ever before. There was a gooy substance on top that looked like gravy from a dog food can. The server explained it was the base of the soup to which I questioned why is it on top. I also have to admit that I tried to deny that it was an issue but the last 3 time (final experience today), I had to swat files and gnats as if the Lord of the flies sent soldiers for attack. In all of that I still sat there and ate what I could because my stomach was touching my back and I was beyond hungry. Why, I don't know but I can say that flavor was full. I just hate the quality has fallen tremendously.

To the owners and management of this spot: The employee who was working the PM shift on Friday…read moreApril 17th, does not want to work here. It's very clear that this job is not important to them. This employee is costing you business and putting the literal health of your customers at stake. I took my brother and my partner here 4/17. It was empty and there was no music. Right off the bat your employee (who was dressed like she just got back from the gym) serves us up three ice waters and walks off before we can point out the CHIPPED RIM of the pint glass. My partner fished THE PIECE OF GLASS out of his drink. We flagged down the employee who smiled and apologized and whisked it away. At that point I wanted to leave. But we were hungry so we all ordered beers and avoided the ice since I didn't trust them to burn the rest of their ice well in case there was more glass. I suspect his employee used the pint glass to scoop out the ice (health code violation) or just didn't care enough to notice. I'm grateful my partner was a former busser and spotted the glass before he took a drink. We were offered no compensation or a free round or anything. Just a few excuses from the employee who seemed to find it amusing. The place was empty until another couple came in. The employee started playing music from her phone at full volume, which it's probably the worst way you could add ambiance to a restaurant. It echoed inside so the tinny sound from the phone speaker grated against my nerves. Then employee took our order. Forgot our order. Took it again. We crossed our fingers that the kitchen was solid. And they were! My California roll was excellent and I enjoyed the miso soup! It's a shame that it's all served on chipped plastic serving plates-- all our plates and bowls were chipped. I would've told your employee this but they were busy jumping rope... Yes, you read that correctly, they were jumping rope. Getting some reps in. I sat there and watched your employee jump rope, getting all sweaty before serving us food, in a restaurant while customers were there. Never, in my 8 years in the service industry, have I ever heard of a server jumping rope while on a dinner shift in front of customers. That is an insane thing to do. I literally thought I was going crazy until I noticed the couple next to me ASLO watching your employee skip rope. (They took their food to go. SMART). We got the check and left. In our hurry to leave, my partner realized he never got his credit card back. He went back to the restaurant only to find the employee was chatting with the BOH, his card still on the tray. (She didn't even run the card). The cherry on top of the worst service I've ever received.

It was refreshing to not be disappointed by our ramen, so my mom and I went back less than a week later. Any issues we experienced our first visit were either repeated or amplified during our second visit. Both times I noticed that the ramen isn't served hot. At best, it's served warm, so despite being a quick eater, the last bites of my bowls were "enjoyed" cold. Also, the restaurant is very busy with to go orders, so the overwhelmed staff has to juggle dine in as well as delivery drivers and their priority is the to go orders. They have a sign up/wait list, but they don't follow it. Customers who stand at the door, in the staff's view, will be seated before others who signed up before, but are off to the side. Lastly, is the issue of cleanliness. Our first visit the restaurant didn't feel very clean, but by the second, I was sure they weren't cleaning throughly. We ordered fresh garlic and the garlic masher they gave still had old garlic inside. On top of that, they don't wipe tables between customers because they're so busy. Strictly rating the food, Kai Ramen deserves a solid 4 stars, but as a whole, I think 3 stars is generous. Unfortunately, another visit wouldn't change anything because the problem is caused by management understaffing and overworking employees.
