The place is clean and has a laid back, comfortable vide. We had a variety of things: beef noodles (standard and spicy) korean bbq style beef, calamari, beef fried rice, but for me, the best thing was the bread beef wrap - so good. I can have that everyday. One down side is; it's on the higher price spectrum. It's not expensive, but it's not a value meal (unless you split between two people, because the portions are large). Saturday evening dinner date with my hubby. I was craving beef noodle soup and found this spot on Yelp. We only waited 5 minutes before getting sat at a table near the front. First thing we noticed was the nice quality of their custom wooden chopsticks. Also, hubby casually mentions the Chinese characters in their name translates to "pulled noodle street." Today I learned! After ordering, we turned around to watch the open kitchen concept. It was exciting to see all the chefs working closely together, churning out bowl after bowl of noodle soup. Even more impressive was seeing the dance of the hand pulled noodles happening right there in the restaurant. Our dishes arrived within 10 minutes of ordering. Each bowl is topped with 5 generous pieces of braised beef, sprinkle of cilantro and chili oil if you ordered it with it. I had a blast picking up the noodles and placing them on my spoon to get the perfect noodle and soup bite. The crispy beef roll has a nice crunch at first bite. The amount of sauce and fresh chopped cilantro inside the roll was just right. Another cool concept is paying your bill at the table using a QR code. When a restaurant lists a Signature Dish, I usually try to order it. However, my eye caught on the Bone-In Rib Rice Noodle Soup. Both of us have ordered Asian bone-in beef rib soups in the recent past, so I thought I'd try this soup instead. I saw the descriptions of the Standard Round v. Knife Cut Noodles on the menu, and after a little discussion with the waiter, went with the Standard Round noodles for my order. The big bowl of soup came with 2 large, meaty rib bones, daikon radish slices, green onions and cilantro in a very flavorful beef broth. I was very happy with this lunch that had enough leftovers for 2 more meals! Hubby chose the Noodles with Minced Beef Sauce. It included a bowl of soup. I've since looked at the company's website, and I am impressed with their story, mission statement and clearly spelled out values. I tried the Irvine location of Noodle St for the first time this past Sunday. I got there just before noon and it wasn't too crowded but it started to get pretty busy after I left around 12:30p. The service was pretty quick overall, with multiple servers consistently checking in to see if everything was ok. For the food itself, the Beef Roll Pancake was delicious. In the picture it looks like mostly scallions and cilantro but there was actually a fair amount of beef inside. The Signature Beef Soup was also really good. I recommend getting the knife cut noodles, which are softer/chewier than most noodles, as it's their specialty. I'd also recommend not wearing a white shirt/pants as they can be pretty slippery and the soup is red-ish. The soup is only mildly spicy but they do have extra chili oil at each of the tables if you like it spicier. The Peach Black Tea was a little on the sweet side but solid otherwise. Signature Beef Noodles Soup ($13.80) - This comes with a choice of noodles, I opted for their knife cut noodles. This soup consisted of sliced beef shank seasoned with Chinese herbs, thinly sliced radishes, cilantro, leeks, with a hint of chili flavor in a light beef broth. I was really impressed with how chewy the noodles were and loved the taste of the beef broth. There was plenty of tender beef in this delicious soup. Beef Roll Pancakes ($10.80) - This consisted of 4 pieces of a thin-fried flour pancake encasing slices of beef, green onions, cilantro and hoisin sauce. I was amazed at how fresh and great tasting this dish was! The meat was tender and had a lot of flavor. I've had beef roll pancakes at other Chinese establishments, but this was the BEST that I have tried, it was SO GOOD! Overall, I was really impressed with the signature beef noodle soup. I like to add a bit of the chili oil and vinegar provided at the table and it's perfect. Beef rolls have the most crispy pancake skin and the beef slices, hoisin sauce, green onions, and cilantro fold together so perfectly and each bite is delicious. I will say I have noticed there's less beef in each bowl now. That's not the way you serve, dude. That needs work. He was better off leaving it at the edge of the table and having us grab it ourselves. Water was tough to get refills on. When I asked for more water, the same guy who shoved my noodles at me brought over just one whole new cup of it. Noodle St in Irvine is spacious, modern, and clean. They offer popular Taiwanese eats such as beef noodle soup, beef pancake rolls, and knife cut noodles. It's hard to find knife cut noodles around Irvine and I'm glad that Noodle St offers this style of noodles. Sadly, I am not a fan of their knife cut noodles because it wasn't chewy enough. Traditional knife cut noodles has a firm bite and chewier texture compared to an al dente noodles. The knife cut noodles in the spicy beef noodle soup I ordered did not have the knife cut texture I was hoping for. Perhaps the noodles will be chewier in a pan-fried noodle dish rather than a hot soup bowl, but I have my doubts. The spicy beef noodle was delicious despite the knife cut noodles not being chewy enough for my liking, I still recommend ordering it! I also tried the beef roll pancake and it was good! There was very little meat filling and it was pretty cold due to all the greens that was in it. Regardless, it had a good flavor and slightly crispy exterior and I would get this one again. The Irvine location also has an open kitchen but you can hardly see it due to its elongated configuration. Guests are expected to wait to be seated but the counter was not manned half of the time during my visit. I had to wait awhile before the server came to take my order. Yes, I think it is fair to say they are short-handed like many other restaurants. The kitchen seems to working well. I got my noodle shortly after I placed my order. Its flavor does not disappoint. QINGHAI CLEAR COLD NOODLES: Wow - for anyone who loves the "QQ" or chewy texture, this is a must order. Our waitress recommended this and we were so happy that she did! Flavorful, not too spicy, and served with some kind of soy/tofu. The leftovers were even better because the noodles had more time to marinate in the sauce. This place is a total dump, and my recent visit was a complete disaster from start to finish. The service was non-existent. We were seated quickly enough, but then completely ignored. Had to flag down three different people just to get menus, and another twenty minutes went by before anyone bothered taking our order. It felt like a total joke; zero professionalism from the staff, who seemed completely lost and disorganized. And the food? Disgusting. I ordered the signature beef noodle soup with knife-cut noodles, and it was a bland, oily mess. The "broth" was basically salty water with no depth of flavor, and the beef chunks were dry and mostly fat, not the tender meat you'd expect. My partner's dish was somehow even worse, utterly tasteless and drowning in a weird, gooey sauce that tasted like stale dishwater. Portions might be big, but it's all cheap filler, and the quality is a straight-up rip-off for the price. We couldn't even finish half of the slop they put in front of us. We sat there without drinks while she literally ran around the restaurant attempting to clean tables, ignoring us as she did so. Eventually, she came by and asked if we knew what we wanted. I placed an order for an appetizer and asked for water. She quickly grabbed her sweater and left without a word. My mom and I sat there watching as more people were seated and had their appetizers brought out while we hadn't even had our order taken yet. I asked another server for help, and he promptly took our order but also disappeared, along with a group of friends who clearly worked there. We waited a long time for our food until I made a comment to my mom apologizing for the poor service we were receiving. Another employee overheard and approached our table to check on our food. He brought our order much later but didn't come back afterward. I asked for a refill and never received it. When the night crew came in, a server finally brought us extra napkins and water. Wanting to address the experience with management, I requested to speak with a manager. To my surprise, the manager who came to our table was the same one who had delivered our food and didn't return to check on us. He explained why we experienced such poor service, apologized--as he was clearly aware of the situation--and offered a free appetizer for our next visit. Unfortunately, it became clear that even the manager did not understand what genuine hospitality meant, let alone how to provide good service. We stopped by and ordered the food to go to sit outside as we had our dog and it was a beautiful sunny day. The server was so nice and helpful. I ordered the qinghai clear noodles, cucumbers, and scallion pancake. My favorite was the noddles as it was just so thick and chewy; so delicious!!! The cucumbers were refreshing and tasty and I loved the scallion pancake also as it was crispy and crunchy! Could eat this every other day! Yummy read more
