I really enjoyed my experience here! The location is modern, spacious, bright, which I really liked. And they have a turtle tank, which I thoroughly enjoyed because... cute turtles. It was such a nice little detail that I definitely enjoyed. The service was pretty prompt, especially if you already know what you want. They also offer hot tea, which I always appreciate while at chinese establishments. For food, I got the crab soup dumplings, and they were delicious. I also got the brisket udon, and let me clarify because when you hear brisket, you might expect barbecue-style brisket. It's really more like tender beef in the udon, and I actually really enjoyed it. The soup usually comes with pieces of brisket, and the tendons. I asked for no tendons. There was still some in my soup, but not enough to completely turn me off. When I did mention it, the waitress brought out more pieces of beef for me. I really appreciated that. The broth was amazing, and the noodles had that perfect tender-but-chewy texture with a really good mouthfeel. The portion sizes for each dish were also really nice. Noodle Village has been on my list of places to try for a while and I finally got the chance to try it! I ordered the hotpot rice, pork soup dumplings, and the hot and spicy shrimp and pork wontons. The shrimp and pork wontons were honestly the best wontons I have ever tried in a while, definitely would recommend. The hotpot rice was a good staple dish and came in a cast iron pot, so it will create a crispy rice barrier which I love. The soup dumplings were fine, not the best but tasted like any typical soup dumpling. The inside has a lot of seating and table options, so I would imagine that even with a line there would be an open spot for your guests. I love noodle village for their claypot rice (forgot to take a picture last time). If you've never had claypot rice, you simply must try it! It comes out sizzling and you add the specific sauce they give you. Then you use the big metal spoon and mix, you have to scrape the sides to reveal the crispy rice. It's lovely have the crispy rice and soft rice, and then the toppings. My go to meat is the chinese sausage (lap cheong). Their soup dumplings are also very good. Delicate wrapper and delicious broth. Service and food is quick. Their new location is nice but sometimes I miss the more old school (?) vibe of their old location. Nothing like some good ol' comfort Cantonese carbs. Even on a busy Saturday, the line went by fairly quick as their service is incredibly fast here. I got a table for one and ordered the Steamed Shanghai Pork Soup Dumplings ($9.95) and Braised Beef Brisket Tendon Noodle ($12.95). I probably didn't need the XLB dumplings, but so glad I tried them. They were super juicy and plump --honestly quite impressed with these. The noodles actually came out minutes within me ordering my food. It was almost as if it was already waiting for me. The noodle soup also arrived just as quick for the table beside me, so if you're in a hurry or starving, get the noodle soups. Plus, they're delicious and heartwarming! Finally checked Noodle Village off my list, and I can confirm they're serving very authentic Cantonese dishes. We spent around $50, and the food could've easily fed four people. ＊Chinese Sausage Clay Pot Rice 臘味煲仔飯 $16.50 They really didn't skimp on the meat - we got lap cheong, (臘腸), yun cheong (膶腸), and cured duck (臘鴨). The whole bottom turned into a layer of golden crispy rice. Noodle Village, a Chinatown staple, moved to a bigger and better location! I ordered all of their popular items and spent only $50! These are now my new favorite soup dumplings! The wrapper is so thin, and has a unique texture that's different from what I'm used to (in a good way!), and each dumpling is filled with a spoonful of soup. The new decor is clean and much more modern. I like the space. Been coming here multiple decades for their clay pot rice. This is my reason for revisiting this particular restaurant in Chinatown. They do everything pretty well, but for me, the clay pot rice stands out as one of the best in NYC. My favorite clay pot rices are their Sausage and Pork w/ Salty Fish. If you like a rich flavorful rice that's been coated with the fat from various preserved meats, then go with the sausage. If you like a little funk with your juicy savory ground pork patty, then do the latter. Either way, you can't go wrong. Just remember to scrap up every bit of that crispy rice crust, mix in some delicious house made sweet soy, and enjoy one of the best comfort foods around. Btw, I believe one of this restaurant's earlier claims to fame was their Wontons and Dumplings. I do think they are decent, but there are better versions nearby and around NYC nowadays. Other items I order regularly here that I do enjoy is their Beef Chow Fun, as well as the Squid & Pig Skin w/ Curry Sauce. One of the worst place to eat. Service and food were lame. We didnt plan on eating here but the line for the hand pulled noodles from next door was so long so we settled for here. We were told we cant occupy the other side. It turns out the servers use the other side to put platters of food for other table. I dont know his name but he kinda have a down syndrome look. He waved his left hand right in front of my boyfriend's face to rush him to go first and then take my order. My boyfriend had the chicken noodle soup and pan fried dumplings. The soup was on the salty side but he liked it. The dumplings had a weird taste and chewy texture. I had ordered the seasonal vegetable lo mein and spring rolls. The seasonal vegetable was just chinese broccoli... nothing special and it cost $12 for an appetizer size plate. What a rip off. The spring rolls.... such a disappointment. They must've deep fried this twice because it's not crispy and tasted rancid. (Probably hasn't changed the oil for a long time) All this cost $50 and we both went home still hungry looking for snacks at home to fill up. It's very unorganized. There was a crowd of people waiting to be seated, they gave us a number to wait. It took about 10-15 mins to get called - make sure your full party is with you. The dining area is large and bustling. The wonton noodle soup was what I saw recommended online, and it was really delicious and comforting. I love spicy food and they have a spice tray on every table with chili oil, hot sauce, soy, and red vinegar. I love spicy food and loved being able to doctor up the soup to my preference. In addition to 1915 Lanzhou Han-Pull Noodle which I have frequented 3 weekends in a row, just 4 doors down is Noodle Village, next to it is Maxi's Noodle 3, and I saw today that Wonton Noodle 1978 will be opening shop soon in the same block! Why? The latter 3 even serve the same Hong Kong style noodles! Anyway, I've tried Maxi's in Flushing, so we stepped into Noodle Village instead for today's visit. The decor is new and clean, very current and modern though I feel a slight mismatch to what it serves. Space is big, but the way they arranged the tables made it feel cramped. There is a bona fide waiting area. For 2 people, we got seated rather quickly. We had to order a Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup $10.75, just so we can compare apple to apple. We also order a different dish we've never had before: Sliced Beef w. Ginger & Scallion Noodle Soup $12.95. We waited for 20 minutes and our table was still empty. The table next to us just made their order. I grabbed hold of their waiter and complained. He checked his tablet and said, you've waited 18 minutes, not quite 20. I was in awe! 3 minutes later, our dishes finally came! What's really upsetting was, within the first few bite of our noodles, the table next to us got theirs. So they only waited 5 minutes while we had to wait, ok, 18 + 3 = 21 minutes! Our order somehow got lost in the queue. As for the dishes, the scallion beef was refreshing. Broth was delicious. I mean I love scallion. And they didn't skimp on beef. The shrimp wonton noodle, on the other hand, has the smallest serving size I've had in recent years. Wontons are also smaller. What a fantastic place on Mott Street! There is plenty of competition, but what I liked is that this is a legitimate Cantonese noodle restaurant. Coming from San Francisco, I spot a good Cantonese place, and this hits all the targets. Curry Beef over Noodles and Curry Beef Rice were ordered. The curry beef was stewed to tender perfection with a kiss of cumin in the spices. It is spooned over the noodles, and you pour the broth over it. Some criticized the broth as plain, but the stew is deeply seasoned, so the broth adds moisture to the noodles without overly diluting the dish. You determine how much or how little stew to add to the noodles and then add the broth. Curry Beef over steamed rice is pure comfort food. The concept is the same: You add spoonfuls of curry over the rice and dictate how much curry beef you have or how little. We ordered the steamed Chinese broccoli (gai lan) as a side vegetable. It had oyster sauce on the side, so you could dip the gai lan into it. It paired nicely with the Curry Beef over Rice. We ordered the Pork in Hot and Spicy Sauce over Lo Mein. It's the same concept: The Spicy pork is mixed into the noodles,and you add the broth over the lo mein. All the noodles were fresh and flavorful. We ordered two baskets of the Xiao Long Bao. They were delicate and juicy. Hot but not so hot as to immediately scorch your tongue. Both flavors, steamed crab meat and pork dumplings and mixed pork and meat dumplings. They were made-to-order and the skins were delicate yet pliable to hold the soup. Spoonfuls of dipping sauce were brought. They complemented the soup dumplings. The wok-hei in the Beef Chow Fun was amazing and so satisfying. The chef in the back seared the noodles to perfection, and for me, it was my comfort food. Finally, we could not resist the flaky and crispy scallion pancakes with their dipping sauce. The sauce had a tang that offset the richness of the pancakes. It was addictive. I am happy to report that the service was prompt and pleasant, and we had a laugh because her iPad froze while she was taking our order. Tech glitches are real, even in Chinatown. Our tea was refilled constantly and dishes were brought out quickly and in a stream. Luckily, everyone was hungry. A very delightful and satisfying Mother's Day late dinner. read more

This was exactly what we were looking for when we wanted a lunch in Chinatown. The soup was so warm and hearty and came in these huge bowls that were great for sharing. We kept finding more and more wontons in the noodle soup; it was like digging for treasure. I had a personal attachment to the congee-- we got the corn and mushroom one which was flavored well but not too salty. The food came out so fast, the interior is very modern and looks newly renovated, and there are a bunch of dimsum options in addition to bowls of noodle soup and congee-- definitely something for everyone! read more

Our first visit since they reopened at the new location. The food's still good, probably the best Hong Kong style wonton noodles in NYC. The cuttlefish balls are always a favourite, and the noodles are always on point, cooked al dente. We got the xiaolongbao as well which we never did and I'm glad to report they're not bad! The wrapper's thin, the texture is different from Shanghainese xiaolongbao or even Din Tai Fung's version, but still good. The soup is slightly sweeter than what I'd like but still okay. Reliable place for a standard Chinese meal. Nice clean, new spot with a relatively organized wait system. They give you a number and you wait until it's called. We were a party of 4 and waited ~15 min. What we got: - Wonton Noodle Soup: Standard, tasty, and a good value! - Mixed Meat Congee: Paired it with an additional piece of Fried Dough on the side. For me, the dough was a bit sweeter than and not as savory as I liked, however, it was still nice to pair with the meal. - Fried Mantou: Like a deep fried sweet dough - perfect as a traditional app or for after the meal to curb your sweet tooth. - Pork Soup Dumplings: Really enjoyed them here! The skin isn't thick at all, which was perfect. - Curry Fishballs: I'd SKIP - it was simply 2 small skewers of 6 fishballs for $11! We were expecting a bowl of fishballs with curry sauce, which is how it traditionally is.
