I don't like leaving negative reviews, especially for Chinatown local businesses, but the service and food at Deluxe Green Bo were really disappointing. I'm not sure if it was just an off day, since my family has enjoyed this spot and recommended it to me. Our experience felt rushed from the start. We were there for less than 30 minutes, with a table still full of food we had barely touched, and the server was already asking if we wanted everything packed up to go. The restaurant wasn't even busy at all. As for the food, I was especially excited to try the pan fried pork buns (生煎包), but they fell short. The bottoms weren't crispy, the wrappers were overly thick, and there was very little filling...definitely not the juicy bite I was expecting. We also ordered the preserved cabbage and pork braised noodle (雪菜肉絲煨麵), which was SO BLAND. Honestly something I feel like I could make better at home. The shanghai kaofu (上海烤麩) appetizer was just okay and quite salty. The only part I really enjoyed in that dish was the bamboo shoots.

Went to Deluxe Green Bo on a Saturday with a friend for an early lunch. It is located on Bayard Street, about a five-minute walk from the Canal Street subway. They are cash or Venmo only, no cards accepted. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but there were plenty of tables available, and we sat by the window. As soon as you are seated, they bring over complimentary green tea, which is unlimited. We started with the scallion pancakes, which were very good, crispy and flavorful with a savory dipping sauce. Then we wanted to try a few dumpling options and ordered the boiled pork and leek dumplings as well as the lightly fried pork and scallion dumplings. Between the three dishes, we left feeling full and satisfied. Everything was very good and well-seasoned. Even the dumplings that leaned slightly doughy still had a good balance of filling to wrapper. The service was quick and attentive, and the total bill came to under $30, which was a great value. I would definitely recommend and look forward to returning.

This is one of the best spots in Chinatown to get authentic Chinese food for super cheap. Their lunch special lets you pick 3 entrees with soup and rice for $25.95! The Pepper Steak was nice and tender. The General Tsos Chicken was a solid classic option. I also got the Salt & Pepper Pork Chops which were fried lightly and seasoned well. Service is super attentive and food came out 5 minutes after ordering. It's not the biggest place but tables finish up quickly so it's not a long wait. They have 1 bathroom downstairs as well.

Deluxe Green Bo was pretty average for me overall. We tried the xiao long bao, and while the service was quick, the food itself did not really stand out. The soup dumplings were smaller than expected, not very flavorful, and honestly not that filling either. They felt like a typical bao you could get at a lot of places without anything memorable about them. Also noticed the restaurant had a B health rating posted, which did make us hesitate a little. Prices were not terrible, and the food came out fast, but with so many dumpling spots nearby, I probably would not come back specifically for the xiao long bao.

Ordered DoorDash from here and it was amazing. I got the chicken and broccoli rice bowl and it was exactly what I wanted. A good amount of chicken and broccoli and lots of rice. It definitely felt more like a lunch portion than a dinner portion, but honestly no complaints. It was around $10 and for the price it felt like a great deal. Simple, really good, and super satisfying. I'll definitely be ordering from here again.

Deluxe Green Bo - Disappointing, unremarkable Chow Fun with Mixed Meat and Shrimp

Deluxe Green Bo was an absolute disappointment and would recommend you go to another restaurant in Chinatown for a good meal!!!!! [Note - You can places I recommend in Chinatown in my Yelp Collection "Explore Chinese Food (5 Stars to 1 Star)."] Ignore Deluxe Green Bo's reviews in the window - which I should have done!!! Often walk past so decided to try it out. Noted afterwards those posted "raves" dates from the '90s. Give me a break! Ordered Chow Fun with Mixed Meat and Shrimp - absolutely muted nominal flavor and mediocre at best!! The majority of the tables were empty, although a few (what appeared to be) tourists entered while I was seated. Nevertheless, when I reached for my cup of tea the waiter rudely tried to take away my food before I had finished. Unbelievable!... had to stop him!!! It wasn't like there were customers waiting to be seated! New York's Chinatown has a number of super cheap as well as reasonably priced world class restaurants. Given that, whether you're a tourist or native New Yorker, my recommendation is walk past Deluxe Green Bo and don't bother checking it out.

I went back to get my favorite dumplings at Deluxe Green Bo, and had a great time. They greeted us at the door and we got seated immediately. The small shop still has lots of seating, and the service is excellent. The food was all so delicious. I love how the Fried Tiny Buns are so soft, but I feel like the filling is different! I vaguely remember the filling being more like pulled pork, or at least more generous. I guess we may have gotten lucky last time. The beef lo mein was also delicious.

Came here again while I was in town and everything was just as good as I remembered. Service here is great, fast and the staff is very nice. We got some pan fried dumplings, crispy noodles, and the hot and spicy wontons. Everything tasted great! We enjoyed everything but my boyfriend and I both agreed that the noodle dish had too much sauce (it was drowning lol) and the hot and spicy wontons were not even a little bit spicy. Don't like my critiques dissuade you though because the food here was seriously delicious!

Came here for an earlylunch with a friend and got seated at a larger table witb a few other parties, a pretty common experience to have at a traditional Chinese restaurant. Menu had a good mix of dishes and we got a few to share. Dumplings and soup dumplings were solid - I thought it was pretty delicious! Solid experience, good service, tasty food. I wouldn't mind coming back in the future!

Tourist trap with modern day Social Media marketing. The food here is bad. It WILL make you sick. Long lines always and cash only. We got their Rice Cakes (tasted only like Chili Oil) and Dumplings (no taste at all). The saving grace was the garlic dipping oil which we used until the last drop. Skip this place please

Pretty thick dough for their fried pork dumplings but the filling is super flavorful. Bummer that they have a minimum charge to actually sit down and eat even when there's no business, so we had to get it to go and eat standing up right outside.

Love this place always get the same thing, hadn't been back in about a year. Ordered the general tso chicken lunch special which comes with white rice. Price is still good but the portion seems much smaller. Did the shrimp fried rice and it was delicious. And their tofu soup (included) is delicious. Service is still quick, you're not going to feel at home but they get the job done. Would still recommend and will continue to go back. Remember cash only or Venmo.

Not an exaggeration these were the best scallion pancakes I've ever had in my life, and I think I've eaten through most of Chinatown. The scallion pancakes are a must get. We also got the subgum stirfry fried rice cakes and soup dumplings. It was plenty of food to share between two people. We both left full and satisfied. The service and ambience were exactly what you could expect from a Chinatown restaurant, quick and easy service, comfortable tables and chairs . This place definitely gets busy! It is super popular and there might be a wait unless you want to wait up to an hour. I probably wouldn't go during peak weekend dinner hours, but I think we only waited a few minutes for a table for an early weekday dinner. Will definitely be back and demolish some more scallion pancakes

A Chinatown Must‑Visit for Dumpling Lovers…read more I was in New York on a work trip, and my colleague - a proud local - promised to take me to the best dumpling spot in Chinatown. Let me tell you, he did not exaggerate. This place absolutely delivered. The moment we walked in, the atmosphere hit me first: colorful, lively, buzzing with energy in the best way. It's hip without trying too hard, and everything felt clean and well‑kept. Service was lightning fast, too - dishes were coming out almost as quickly as we could order them. Now, the dumplings. Amazing. Truly some of the best I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and paired with a savory sauce that made every bite even better. Even the little dipping sauce was delicious. You can tell they take pride in what they serve. A couple of tips for anyone planning a visit: * They're cash‑only, so make sure you come prepared. * Reservations are encouraged - this place is clearly a go‑to spot, and for good reason. If you're in Chinatown and craving dumplings that actually live up to the hype, this restaurant is a must. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the city!

We sat down, ordered and had the food delivered to the table within ten minutes or maybe even less. The soup dumplings were piping hot, huge, and incredibly flavorful. The broth is this interesting chicken stock color but was very juicy. The total for six was $9.75 which wasn't bad at all. The salt and pepper squid was very interesting. I liked the flavor and kept coming back to it. The breading wasn't heavy and fried scallions or garlic on top made the dish. As for the noodles with scallion oil, not too bad. The flavor wasn't too rich, just nice and subtle. I believe for all three dishes the total came out to $50 before tax. At this time, cash is the only accepted form of payment.

The soup dumplings were actually quite large, but the spring rolls are pretty small. Came out to over 20 bucks, which is reasonable but more than it was. A stirfry noodle dish is like $25 now! On that note, it's really nice inside and fun to sit at the "bar" and watch them make the dumplings. A great option if you're in the area and have a craving!

It's a pretty solid lunch spot for during work and this just happened to be a few blocks from my office. I thought this spot would look like a hole-in-the-wall spot, but the space is actually decent with a full dining area. They do have a lunch menu, which is in the last page of the menu. Why they hid it all the way in the back, I have my assumptions and suspicions. I had to get an order of soup dumplings here so I got the Crab Soup Dumplings ($15). The skin is a bit thicker than other spots, but that means the skin ain't going to break on you easily. And do be careful how you bite into it, as the first one I bit into, the soup splattered all over my shirt and pants. Overall tasted great. Soup dumplings was not going to fill me up along, so I got something off of their lunch menu and settled upon Orange Chicken w Brown Rice ($18.50). Chicken was white meat, which is battered and deep fried. It says it was spicy, but it really wasn't. Comes with a vegetable spring roll and a choice of rice, which makes this a pretty decent lunch deal for $20. Menu prices are cash prices. If you pay with a credit card, they will slap a 2% processing fee. Overall, service was pretty decent as well. Would come back again for lunch.

Servers were conscientious about allergies and very specific about letting us know which items were which, but other than that were largely appropriately hands off. They did ask us, mid-meal, if it would be ok if a service dog were at the next table to ours, which I thought was courteous. (The service dog was adorable and well behaved.) All the food was fab, which we expected. It's nice to come in a group and be able to order more items for a greater variety. The rookies executed well (and thanked us for the instructions on how to eat XLB to avoid getting soup everywhere) and were pleasantly surprised by my longtime favorite, the rice cake and mustard greens. Shredded crispy duck is lean, crisp (living up to its name) and in my estimation, perfect! A half order is $33 and comes with crepes and what I guess is thin-cut celery and hoisin sauce. Our other two dishes merit maybe four stars. I had high hopes for prawns with black bean sauce and minced pork, but there was little pork and the dish was under-seasoned. Beaten egg white, a component of the sauce, was almost raw and when separated from the black beans, runny and unappealing. When I inquired about 'vegetarian delight,' our server suggested creating our own dish. Four sautéed vegetables for $16. I went with bok choy, broccoli, mushrooms and fried tofu. I asked for a flavorful sauce. I believe we got garlic, but it was too subtle, not garlicky enough.. Service is on-the-ball. Ambience is lovely. And Saturday night, hours before the dreaded snowstorm, the restaurant was busy. Reservations recommended.
