This char siu rice is seriously underrated in NYC Chinatown. Tin Wong serves a gigantic portion of char siu rice for only $8.50, and they're generous with the meat. My jaw dropped when it hit the table -- the portion was huge! It was a lot even for a grown man. I had to share it with my boyfriend because there was no way I could finish it on my own. ＊Roast Pork & Chicken Thigh on Rice 蜜汁叉燒雞髀飯 $14 This time we opted for chicken thigh, so it was a bit more expensive. A regular char siu and chicken rice is only $10, and the three-topping one (三拼飯) is $14. Both the char siu and the chicken thighs were flavorful without being overly salty. The meat was tender with a good balance of fat and lean. What I appreciated most was the ginger scallion sauce (薑蓉) and cabbage on the side, plus the rice drizzled with savory soy sauce. All the little details made it so satisfying. Thay also sell char siu for $13/lb.

I was craving roasted meat noodle soup so I decided to try out this new place in Chinatown. The food came out pretty quickly and the presentation is nice. However, the taste was pretty bland. The soup tasted more like boiled water. The noodles were overdone. The meat itself wasn't bad- a little on the sweeter side though. We only ate about half of the bowl.
A must visit if you're in the area and craving duck. The service was amazing and they give tea as soon as you sit down (and constantly refill). Portions were huge and it was very inexpensive. The duck has an amazing crisp to it while being very soft and was amazing in the bao bun. Would definitely go again and would go with a group to try more of the menu. They also take cards!
Solid service, solid food! My friend recommended this place to me after he'd gone multiple times. His take was that this place consistently delivers - there are so many items on the menu, but everything we tried hit the spot! We got the roast duck, the eggplant, the walnut shrimp, and some flat noodles. If I were to order again, I'd probably skip the noodles, but everything else was fire. They also serve beer and accept cards!!

I was especially hype when I walked in and saw that they had kept the same staff, same iconic pink paint color, same menu design, and same red vest uniforms. I always loved their roast duck noodle soup with lai fun and got roast duck and lai fun separately because it's a better deal and you can get better pieces of meat rather than just whatever they decide to put in. The duck is $10 alone and you can specify dark or white meat (I prefer white) and the plain lai fun in soup is $6 now. The soup is flavored. 10/10 no notes! They let my dog in too. The only change is that the bathroom is cleaner lol.

Chinatown is known for great deals on food in NYC, Tin Wong offers another new destination for affordable and satisfying Cantonese food. On a recent visit, we ordered fish fillet with string beans over rice, congee with pork special, and a rice roll with shrimp and another with beef. Within about 10 minutes, our food arrived the table at once, demonstrating textbook efficiency of a Cantonese restaurant. The seasoning on the food was on point across the dishes, highlighting the simplicity of quick Cantonese dishes. The rice rolls, although not achieving the translucency of some rice roll specialty eateries in the neighborhood, still offered the expected comfort in each bite (the portion was also very generous for its sub-$5 price tag). The fish fillet was crispy on the outside without any trace of grease, contrasted nicely with the green string beans. The congee was silky and full of fillings but a bit too thick for my taste. The service was basic but prompt. The restaurant is kept still rather nice and clean since its opening months ago.
This is always my to go place if I'm not sure what I want to eat. Their fish congee for the morning is great. The congee has flavor and not too watery unlike other places I've been to. Their egg and pork congee is good too. The owner for this place has been doing this for many years. I would say in Chinatown they have the best duck and also soy and salt bake chicken around. Their cha siu is pretty good also. Wish they did roast pig. I can imagine how good it would be. I haven't had anything I didn't like here. Pretty solid place all around. The Singapore mei fun is good. I highly recommend for their duck and soy chicken over rice.
3.75/5 Not a replacement for Great Noodletown New York (featured in Ugly Delicious) but this is a less busy, cleaner, and newer alternative Food 3/5 Bitter melon beef was so close to perfection but it did not have enough of that black flavor sauce (which is what makes the dish the dish) and the bitter melon was almost soggy Whoever the chef is, you can tell they are strong enough to "Pao" the wok as the food is fried to the perfect degree and you can smell the "wok air" The fault was in ingredient preparation The fish porridge was a good size but it lacked flavor--even some ginger shreds could have salvaged it but it was just too plain. Both porridge and fish fillets were not as flavorful The viscosity of the porridge was on the more watery side Price 3/5 BIPOLAR The fish porridge was only $7, which is even cheaper than Yin Ji, which specializes in porridge The bitter melon beef, however, was $18 and it was not a smaller dish! With no white rice to follow! If you ordered the rice plate instead of the dish itself, it would have been $9 and you would have gotten more than 60% of the bitter melon beef plus free white rice. Service 4/5 Staff was not busy Staff was attentive Not sure they did a good job at explaining the pricing Cleanliness 4/5 Bathroom can use some improvement BUT the rotisserie meat section is sparkling new
After a very spicy hot Chinese Food from Uluh that our daughter took us while in NY, I and my wife wanted to get real Chinese Food by walking to China Town and we found this little place where we could get roasted duck, wonton, noodle soup. The place is small but quite clean, the servers are very nice, not attentive as other restaurants but as soon as you raise your hands, they would come and serve you right away. The prices are amazingly inexpensive although the bowl are smaller than some other places. This is definitely a Cantonese style restaurant, roasted duck and wonton are excellent although the noodles are not as crunchy as many restaurants in CA, but not too soft by any means. The broth is light. So, it was a very nice lunch for us before we wander onto the Brooklyn Bridge to take pictures. Will come back here again next time we visit our daughter. read more
Cuisine: 7 Service: 6 Decor: 5 Value: 10 Overall: 8 Everyone knows Big Wong. You may also have tried Ming Wong or Wing Wong. But have you heard of Tin Wong? They opened about two years ago. If not, you should add this Wong to your list of Cantonese roast meat houses in Chinatown. First of all, unlike the other restaurants I mentioned, this shop does not have crispy roast pig. That's a bummer. However, they do carry roast duck, soy sauce chicken, scallion chicken, boiled chicken, roast pork, and barbecue spare ribs. I highly recommend ordering the roast meats over rice here because you get such large portions. If you like variety, get the Combo (Any Three Meat) for $14, which is a great deal nowadays. If you don't want rice, then order the Three Roast Meat Platter for $18. This is one of the best deals in Chinatown. For me, I think the roast pork might be one of the best in NYC imho. Just remember to ask for half fatty half lean to get the best cut of the meat. I think the scallion chicken is quite good too. However, the roast duck has a weirdly crispy skin that was chewy at the same time. I also think their congees are quite tasty, with a relatively thick consistency. The Century Egg & Pork Congee had a ton of stuff in the bowl. Same goes for the Fish Congee. On the other hand, I don't love their Wonton Soup or Wonton Noodles. My final thoughts on this restaurant is that I would come here and include them as one of my Cantonese roast meat houses in Chinatown because the price is right and the food is very good. read more

Got charsiu rice for lunch takeout and it was pretty good. The meat wasn't too dry but the rice is standard across Chinatown I think. Not the best rice but charsiu was pretty good as in average. Overall, standard pricing and standard food. read more

New basic Cantonese eatery in the old XO Kitchen space (RIP). Unfortunately nowhere near as good as XO was. I tried the hong-shau tofu, which is supposed to come out a deep brown color and here was served with an offputting yellowish hue. The gravy had very little flavor, and the rice noodle soup was equally bland. I'll be sticking to the tried and true Big Wong (Da Wong) when I'm craving this genre of Cantonese cooking in Manhattan's Chinatown. read more
This is a new restaurant that opened a few weeks ago. They had a nice crowd of locals inside for lunch. They specialize in Cantonese food. The service was prompt and attentive. The food prices here are very reasonable. The rice roll was decent but could've been a bit more flavorful. The congee was delicious and filling I really enjoyed. read more
Located at a busy street, business is good with people coming in and out. Servers know English and their menu is a typical Chinese restaurant in Chinatown and food came out quickly. Space is open and clean with pink walls and no decorations. We got the salted fish and chicken fried rice which is one of my go tos since childhood. It was fragrant with rice having nice chew to it. Also got a lot of rice rolls, the beef, shrimp, etc. (don't got a pic of the shrimp). You can add peanuts and peanut sauce on top which is apparently EnPing style. I personally pref it with just soy sauce, or to add more soy sauce if they top it with peanut as I feel like the peanut sauce covers the savoriness. Do recommend the shrimp rice roll. read more
Came here for family dinner, we got to order a variety of dishes, wonton soup, soup dumpling, roast pork, half roast duck, half soy chicken, beef chow fun, chicken pan fried noodles, pork chop peking sauce, jumbo walnut shrimp, sautéed pea shoots. They are known for there fresh roast meats. Their must try is roast duck skin is crispy, and roast pork, soy chicken, other stand out was pork chop peking sauce, it was fried nice and crispy. read more

Roast Duck - Hands down, the most impressive roast duck I've had in Chinatown. The skin is paper-thin and crispy, almost like a potato chip, without the excess grease. The meat? Juicy and tender--not dry at all. Char Siu Ribs - Don't just stick to char siu pork--try the ribs! Crispy on the outside, tender inside, with a rich, savory glaze. The meat near the bone is irresistibly flavorful. Yangzhou Fried Rice - Insane value for the price. It comes piled high with plenty of toppings--char siu, shrimp, egg, ham, and peas. A true feast! Peking-Style Pork Ribs - A crowd favorite! Each rib is huge and meaty, served steaming hot with a fruity, tangy-sweet sauce that makes it incredibly satisfying with rice. Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll - Smooth, silky rice noodles wrapped around plump, bouncy shrimp. Simple but so comforting. Beef Brisket & Wonton Noodle Soup - A classic Hong Kong dish done right! Been coming to them for more than 20 years. Their old location used to be on East Broadway for many years before closing due to covid. I was sad for the longest time thinking I had lost my favorite restaurant forever. I was beyond ecstatic when they reopened. Their noodle soup is my absolute favorite and my husband loves their 3 combo rice. Their roasted duck is the best in my opinion, and yes, I have been to other "OG" places like Big Wong and Yue Wong (lived in Chinatown for 30 years). Food is always good and fresh and broth piping hot. Fast service both dining in and taking out. There's nothing to the decor so please don't use that against them, this ain't no Per Se or Eleven Madison Park, just a local favorite with great eats. They get especially busy during the holidays, people from all over flock to them for the BBQ meats. We live in Flushing now and still trek to chinatown whenever we can to get us some Tin Wong (yes, even with congestion pricing). read more

They're open at 7:30 and have delicious congee with roast pork! Absolutely loving it. The congee is creamy with a nice savory base and delightful pops of ginger and scallion. The roast pork cuts through the congee and is super flavorful. A very nice portion and definitely not skimping on the pork. For $7 at 7:30AM! With a nice pot of tea brought to you when you walk in. Can't beat it. Looking forward to trying more another time. read more
I picked up some take out for the next day...after having dinner in the city. Char siu is always good for a few days if it's fresh so I ordered half a pound, the guy asked me if I wanted fatty parts which I did but not too much..fat is flavor... It was a lil lean for L but after he had a second piece, he said it was pretty good. Lean but good quality, not very salty which is a plus for us. There's always sweet soy sauce if you need more flavor. Added some to a delicious ramen I made for dinner the following night.. Such great reviews for their congee so I had to order some, got fish and the mixed squid, pork, etc. It was good, not over seasoned. My mom would enjoy it.. I normally don't get fish congee but I like fish..so why not.. Lil plain but the fish was soft, there was a good amount. I added some white pepper and green onions for extra flavor. Prices are very reasonable. Also had to order beef chow fun, good flavor without being too salty. We like to add hot sauce for an extra kick. We really liked this place. Very homey, food tasted fresh. Staff was nice and spoke English since my Cantonese isn't great. Came back a second time and bought a bunch of dishes for my mom's belated birthday. She loved the congee, char siu, duck was good too.. they didn't have sea bass available so we settled for flounder. Still tasty but obviously I'd prefer sea bass. Beef chow mein is always difficult to eat at home since the fried noodles go everywhere. Beef and broccoli was slightly disappointing but expected since we mostly bought that to get a lil rice. So happy this restaurant opened! I believe they use to be on east broadway and it was sad when they closed down during the pandemic. The congee was amazing. The right consistency that's not too watery or thick. The roast duck rivals the other places in Chinatown. There are many canto restaurants in Chinatown but this is now my favorite. Their prices are a bit less expensive than the other places. HUGE plus that they take credit cards without giving you the side eye and guilt trip. This is now my new go to place - 100 percent recommend! read more
The wait is over, they've finally reopened at this new location! Used to frequent them at the old location on East Broadway when I lived in chinatown- reliable for rice boxes, and also very reliable for congee when feeling under the weather. They've bit their signature pink walls and the same tables and seats as the previous restaurant - a whiff of nostalgia if you grew up eating them. Got the roast pork and soy sauce chicken over rice. Great portion. The thing about their bbq roast pork that makes them stand out from other roasted meats places in Chinatown, is that their roast pork is leaner - even when you ask for the fatty or half-fat cut, it's significantly leaner than when you get at other places- which can translate to being a tad dry for some people and depending on what you get that day- don't say I haven't warned you if you end up having a dry experience. Their soy sauce chicken is also a lot saltier than other stores - their glaze is less sweet, more salt. And as they've always been historically, they don't sell the crispy pigs. Service is quick and good, space is clean. read more

A traditional family Cantonese restaurant of which there are very few left now. Fresh BBQ Pork, Duck, Chicken and other Cantonese Rice Shoppe style meals. Friendly and helpful service. read more
