I have had Thai noodle wave an couple times but this time really was horrible! We ordered a meal for pick up, was told to pick it up at 12:30pm. It was not ready upon arrival and I had to wait 15 more minutes for the food to be ready. It's not too big of a deal but no explanation on why it wasn't ready. Then I took my food home and found a large piece of aluminum foil in my yellow curry! Yes, it was about the size of a half dollar mixed in my curry. Thank god I was paying attention when scooping and I saw it. The food was just average this time which makes me think they got a new cook or something. Altogether not a good meal. read more

Of course I'm a huge fan of their McKinney location and I frequent there (hecks yea I'm the duchess!) but I go to school at UTD and decided to check out the Richardson location of my lunch break. It did not disappoint! We came around 1130 and by 12, this place was PACKED. I mean, dear lord people were waiting at the crowded door when the restaurant was full to get a taste of Thai yummy-ness! I've already had just about everything at the McK location so the food is the same (om nom nom) and I love it. There were a lot of people standing in front of the restaurant so when we approached the door, I thought it was going to be a long wait. Walked in and we got seated right away so that was a nice surprise. The interior decorations were unique and clean plus utensils were orange so I am guessing they're trying to go with the modern theme. I was slightly disappointed with their food and it's pretty hard for me to not like food. We ordered shrimp blanket, Singapore noodles, and Yen Tah Foh Soup. The shrimp blankets were fried and dipped into two different kind of sauces. I like the sweet sauce. I was excited for my soup 'cause I love the way Thai soups are seasoned. When I had a taste of the soup, the taste just felt off. I don't know how to describe it but there was a lack of flavor in the soup. I thought there was going to be a lot of noodles but there were only a few strands. My biggest problem was with the Singapore noodles. The first bite left a metal taste behind. I know it's not metal but it is hard to describe. I thought it was in my head so I had a few more bites. It just left a really weird taste behind and I think it was either too much tumeric or old noodles. Noodle Wave, I came and conquered your roti curry. My friends were like, "Let's get lunch/dinner (refuse to call it linner, that's a travesty of the English language)," and I was very sad because I had eaten lunch and I was not hungry. And I knew I needed to get the roti curry, but I wouldn't be hungry enough to finish it. What makes the roti curry so great? Well, the roti reminds me of a scallion pancake without the scallions. I think it's pan-fried, not roasted/baked, so it's really crispy, really oily, and perfect to dip into the curry. The curry! It's like this creamier, more flavorful red curry, with a hint of masala, chock full of onions, some chunks of carrot, potato, and whenever meat you want with it. It also comes with rice for when you run out of roti, because you WILL run out of roti. My friends got some pretty good dishes, too, the glass noodles, but I could tell they were eyeing my curry the whole time. But I was the one it went home with. Because winning. read more

At first I wasn't sure about this place since I did like going to Jasmine Thai, but their service at Jasmine was horrible. I went here for a friend's birthday party. This place is BYOB. I can now say that this is my new favorite place to go for Thai food. There are a few things to try out: Herbal Chicken, Red snapper (make sure to ask they run out of this a lot), papaya salad (by itself without all the crazy extra stuff), and the crab fried rice. During dinner time is gets pack, so make sure you come early or else you will be waiting for about 25 to 30 mins. I came here on a Saturday night in a group of 6. Very nice interior! Modern looking and very clean. We had to wait about 15 minutes before we got seated even though the restaurant wasn't completely packed, just had to wait for a table big enough to fit all of us. Service to me was just alright through the night. It didn't feel welcoming at all and was pretty slow. It took us a good long time before we got our waters. I got the Roti Curry while basically everyone else at my table got beef pad see ew. We also ordered the Thai herbal chicken (I think...). The chicken was pretty good, but it was spicy, so beware! The Roti curry was amazing! Loved the taste of it and the pastry/pancake that came with it was very good. I thought the carrots and potatoes were WAY too big though. They really should cut the pieces in half or even more. Aside from that, I highly recommend this dish. The pad see ew to me wasn't very good though. To me, it had a sour taste to it and the noodles were a bit too overcooked. The noodles also stuck in a way that wasn't very pleasant. The portion size was somewhat large though, but this dish isn't worth getting. Pricing is a bit on the expensive side for dinner. I may have found a Thai restaurant in DFW that I like. Not the best tom kha but everything else was good. The tom kha was creamy, the way it should be. But it taste different from regular tom kha. I wonder if they put vinegar or assam in it. The salty egg salad is refreshing. There's this vegetable with a bitter aftertaste I like. The curry egg noodle is one of the best I've had. CRISPY CHICKEN GREEN CURRY IS THE BOMB. I order the same thing every single time but everything I've tried off my friends' plates is delicious as well. It may get loud and crowded sometimes but it's just because whole families come in droves. I think that contributes to the authentic atmosphere. Wait staff are always friendly and every location I have been to is extremely clean. Definitely one of the best Thai places in Dallas (but I am not Thai so I must admit that I am unsure if I am a credible source to rate authenticity). I always come back to this place because of their papaya salad and their banana fried ice cream. Don't get me wrong, they have a lot of other good stuff but those are my favorite. I get the green tea and coconut flavor for my fried banana ice cream. (Talking about it makes me want some now..) Recently, I've discovered their roti chicken basil wrap! Best thing ever! The rotis are super fresh with a nice soft yet crunchy texture. And basil chicken inside is soo sooo delicious! If you only get one thing here, get the roti basil wrap! Beware because they are closed on Mondays I believe. They so offer a spice level from 1-4. If you like spicy food as much as I do, I recommend getting at least a 4 because its really really do-able. I ordered takeout using their online ordering system and received an email about my order's estimated pickup time. The Thai Spicy Basil Chicken was full of veggies and very delicious! The minced chicken in the dish threw me off a little bit, but it was tasty overall. I was sad to see the online ordering system only offered spice levels up to 4. I ordered a 4 and it is pretty mild. This is our go-to restaurant when craving Thai for lunch. Prices are a little better than at Mint, and is usually less crowded. I like the red curry beef here, as well as the yellow curry fried rice. The red curry beef comes with carrots, potatoes, onions, and beef. A scoop of steamed rice is served on the side, but sometimes I opt for a roti. The roti here is soft and tender, just the way I like it. As for the yellow curry fried rice, I order this with beef. The fried rice also comes with ginger, so make sure you let the server know if you prefer not to have it. They will ask you how spicy you want your food. Their scale goes from a 1 (mild) to a 5 (inferno). I usually order a 3. The knock on this business is that they do not handle crowds well. If the restaurant is crowded, do NOT expect your food to come out any time soon. I've seen a couple walk out, only to have the server chase them down and reassure them that their food was coming! Also, if your party is finished eating and there is a large crowd waiting, they will constantly bother you to leave the restaurant. In spite of the bad service, we always come back because this is one of the better Thai restaurants in the area. read more

On my first visit I tried the cream cheese crab wontons, pepper steak, and cashew chicken. The wontons had much more cream cheese than crab. In fact, I couldn't bring myself to finish them because I really wasn't into eating a bunch of cheese. The pepper steak and cashew chicken seemed to come with almost exactly the same bunch of sauce, spices, and vegetables. I regret chickening out and asking for mild instead of medium spicy, because it needed the extra spicy kick. Spectacular food and service. The area is a little dodgy. The front windows are small and the sign was down so NW looked closed. It was very open. The interior is completely different from the area. The decor is clean and rather plush. The waitress greeted me at the door with a warm, Dallas smile. The menu is an encyclopedia of Thai dishes. It was a little daunting because I couldn't decide which dish(es) to order. They all looked delicious. The lunch special was chicken pad thai and green curry entrees, an egg spring roll, steamed rice, and carrot straw. EVERYTHING was superior. Well, the egg roll was only excellent. The pad thai needed a little boost. I asked for fish sauce. The waitress rushed off, acquired, and delivered. I had two appetizers: fried swamp spinach with sweet cucumber sauce and the new chicken curry puffs. The spinach was excellent. I prefer my breading a little lighter, but it was excellent. The cucumber sauce was wonderful. The chicken curry puffs were light and flaky and savory. The sauce was chuggable. The waitress and water person were attentive but unobtrusive. The lunch special came with a scoop of ice cream. Somehow, my order got lost. When I asked, the waitress was shocked and appalled, apologized profusely, and rushed to get my dessert. The manager came to apologize profusely. The waitress brought my ice cream, apologized, again, and asked if everything else was satisfactory or if there was anything else she could do for me. This place has the best Roti Canoi (Malaysian Dish) in DFW area. It is called Roti Curry with chicken. It is a very good portion with curry, rice and Malaysian roti. My friends love their Panag curry. Once after dinner, we casually ordered mango ice cream for dessert and it was the best mango ice cream I ever had. It is a small cozy restaurant in Richardson. Went here for a weeknight girls' night dinner a couple weeks ago. I had the roti curry as suggested in one of the reviews and it was delicious. I agree with a previous reviewer that if you think you like medium spice, you should order on the hotter side. Everybody had something different so we got to sample lots of dishes. I enjoyed it all! The wait staff is very friendly and low key. One of the best things about this restaurant is that it's BYOB so after we finished eating, we sat around, drank wine, and chatted and the staff was not trying to shoo us out the door. (It was not crowded and nobody was waiting for a table, so we felt OK about that - plus we were very generous tippers!) One note of caution, this is kind of a shady area at night so just be cautious and aware of your surroundings, and don't linger in the parking lot. read more

I really like this place. Been a "regular" for two or three years now. Sometime during the past year there was a period of something like eight consecutive weekends that my wife and I ate here. We've tried so many different things and enjoyed almost everything on every visit. It's hard to pick out favorites, but the Pad Woon Sen is almost always in our order. There is so much to try here, don't be afraid to venture away from the standard Pad Thai, but it's damn good here too. It's a BYOB place, so don't forget to bring a bottle of wine or some beer.
