I get to noodles and company craving their mac n cheese. On their door, Google maps, and website, it states they close at 11pm. At 9:40pm, the door is locked and they're fully cleaned up. As a consistent and generous customer, this was super upsetting because it was over an hour before their initial and stated closing time. Definitely won't be coming back here for a while. read more

I love pasta and I'm so glad I was reminded about Noodles & Company today. I'm happy I came because it was a great day to sit on their patio. Let me start by saying Susan has excellent customer service skills. I had trouble deciding what I wanted, but she informed of the guarantee policy if I don't like it they'll remake it at no cost. I went with the pesto cavatappi because I always get the penne rosa because I love the spicy tomato sauce. The cavatappi was okay, I wasn't thrilled with the sauce because you could barely taste it. The Parmesan crusted chicken was delicious as usual. Perfect crisp on the outside with juicy middle. I'm sure most people prefer their pasta to be al dente, but I like mine I little softer. The portions are enough for two if you aren't that hungry. I love their drink machine, and how clean the restaurant is kept. read more

I appreciate the fact that their menu provided calories information for all of their items. In addition, they will substitute shrimp or tofu for the meat on any of their choices. Noodless to say, our experience this evening was less than stellar. OK, we are talking about Noodles & Company, a chain, so this review will not be as detailed as usual, but I need to comment. The place is clean, standard Noodles & Company layout, lots of poor KU students eating big bowls of noodles. You get the idea. The staff we are friendly and helpful and the food decent, with one major exception. More on that soon. We ordered the Korean BBQ Meatballs ($5 for 10) as a starter, I the Spicy Korean Beef Noodles ($9.25), and my better half the Steak, and I use that term loosely, Stroganoff ($9.25). The meatballs were pretty good and a decent value. My Korean Beef Noodles had barely a trace of beef, so I tossed in some of the meatballs, but otherwise it was pretty good although lacking enough broth (and meat). The BIG problem came when my wife started eating the beef stroganoff. There was more beef than in my Korean noodles, but she chewed and chewed and chewed and chewed. You get the picture. The beef was "cartilagine" (literally "cartilage"), she said in Italian. I said: "Huh?", not being familiar with this word. Oh, you mean gristly! Yes, that was what she meant. I tasted a piece and it had the texture of a large, thick rubber band. A very nice young lady came by and asked how our meal was. I told her "gristly", so she offered to exchange the stroganoff for something else. Well enough, so my wife asked for the Wisconsin Mac & Cheese ($6.25), a $3 difference. The mac & cheese came quickly and tasted very much like Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, a big bowl of it. The main problem was that nobody apologized, nobody offered a refund for the difference, to comp the meal, or even offer a free dessert. When I asked for the manager to leave my card as we left, three people pointed at each other (must have been Larry, Moe and Curly), so at that point I gave up. We left with a sour taste in our mouths ... or was that just gristle in our teeth? Considering the fact that you can get a much better, quality sit down Asian fusion (Thai, Chinese, Nepalese) meal at ZZ's just up Mass Street for about the same price, Noodles & Company is not such a great value either. For a chain, not too shabby! Really seems to depend on what you get. A couple tried and true items are the pad thai and bangkok curry. I've always found the ingredients to be fresh, and surprisingly, I like these items than similar ones that can be found at Zen Zero or Encore simply due to the right "al dente" they get their noodles to be. Another new favorite that I've found here is the Thai Hot Pot. Mostly soup with a bit of noodles, meat, and veggies, this "hot pot" is perfect for cold winter days. It also comes with some flatbread that is garlicky and perfect for dipping in the hot pot soup. If you're scared of the spiciness level, don't be! This has just the slightest bit of heat. Not a fancy pants place to take a date, but not bad for a place in a small town like Lawrence. Simply stick with what you find to be tasty, and don't stray too much from that. read more

While the staff was friendly and even though the cashier was in training, service was good. I had the Pad Thai with grilled chicken. The chicken was very non-descript in flavor, eggs were over done, scorched and thrown in huge chunks. As expected, the noodles overwhelmed the bowl, all in all lacking in flavor. My husband got the curry soup and that was actually fairly tasty. My son got some other noodle dish and again, I found it blandly seasoned and very non-descript in flavor. Asian food is a cuisine that can be thrown together very inexpensively. For the price Noodle & Co charges, I think they can afford to up their game. read more

The reason I gave two stars is that the portions (which we ordered large) were super tiny. I estimate that we each had around 2 cups of food in our bowls. lthough this is "yet another chain," it's pretty darn good. Obviously the focus here is noodles, but they have a great selection of soups and salads. Consistency and reliability is always on the menu here. Vegetarians and vegans will love the options here as they are clearly marked and the calorie conscious among us will find a large number of dishes that fit within a sensible eating plan. Dishes come in two sizes and I frequently get the Med Salad large which is filing and only 310 calories. The price can't be beat. Service is wicked fast, but the place can get busy so a table is sometimes hard to find and after being in Lawrence a long while, it's a very popular spot. Be warned in the winter though. A few tables are right by the door and it gets extremely drafty. I've made that mistake more than once. Look for the rice krispie treats at the checkout because life is always better with rice krispie treats! read more

There are a few chains that are pretty well-liked, even by people who usually do not eat at chain restaurants - Panera, Chipotle, and for sure, Noodles and Company. This places is excellent for fast, fresh food that is a step above McDonalds. They are obviously known for their noodle dishes, so what I will focus on is my favorite meal there: a small Mac and Cheese, with meatballs, and a small side Caesar salad. The salad is quite good - the Caesar dressing is excellent, of the "thin and lemony" variety (as opposed to the "thick and white" type), and it is just enough to whet the appetite for the mac and cheese, which combines a creamy sauce with sprinkles of fresh cheddar on top. It is not overwhelmingly cheesy, so you don't feel like you can't move after eating it. The meatballs are small and savory, bite-sized. All together, a great lunch that won't make you feel like you just swallowed an elephant. (And if you do have a desire for dessert, they have the best Rice Krispy treats in Lawrence that are not made in your mom's kitchen.) read more

We had Noodles & Co cater our wedding a few weeks ago. I'll be honest, they were not on the top of my list when looking for a caterer when we started looking a year ago. But, a friend recommended checking out noodles after she attended another Lawrence wedding that was catered by them last year. The entire experience, before during and after the wedding, was so stress free to work with the crew of this noodles location. They were so professional and pleasant. They delivered and set up buffet style for us. Easy to coordinate with them the week before. They showed up exactly when they said they would, they got the order correct, they set up quickly but also kept it tidy, and the food was fresh and delicious. Kids and adults all loved it. This is a fine restaurant...the interior is spacious and they have a great patio, simply since it is also spacious and offers a great view of Mass Street. They also have a wide variety of noodles, soups, and salads, as well as a few sandwiches that can combined to satisfy your gnawing hunger. The up side is that you always know what you are going to get, since they are required to uphold company standards. I prefer the Asian food (the noodles, soups, and salads are good). I tried the mac and cheese once and will not be attempting that again...the sauce was a little heavy for my taste and the noodles a little overdone. I have never had this issue with the Japanese pan noodles or the pad thai--always well sauces and cooked. The curry soup is really good and I highly recommend this. I also like that all their menu and nutrition options are available on line--so if you are trying to avoid certain things or watch what you eat, this a good place, especially since they have several options under 500 or so calories. Even though I love knowing the exact calorie and fat counts of the food, this place is, in the end, still a chain. The concept is interesting, but the cost and final product left me questioning my lunch choice. I was not overly impressed with our dishes. I had the Pesto (not bad,but not wow) my son the Mac and Cheese (bland). The chicken noodle soup was not bad it had a very "homemade" texture and flavor. ....my over all: middle of the road. Will I eat there again, prolly not. There was no "wow" or "super yum" moment to make me wake up from a deep sleep and think, man I am craving some Noodles & Company! Good concept of international noodle and salad options that you can customize. Nice large portions invite you to take came leftovers for tomorrow's lunch. Not super enthusiastic staff. Modern simple fast interior design. You go to the counter and order your fish and tell them what you want to add. If I eat out, the food needs to be worth my time, effort and money. I'm not a food critic (yes, I know, we're all Food Critics here on Yelp...We few, we happy, special, opinionated few), I'm just someone who knows what she likes, and isn't willing to pay for crap food, not at any price. Who would expect them to be anything other than what they are, which is a chain that serves barely adequate noodles covered in various forms of protein and cheese? It's like getting mad at a package of Raman noodles (how dare this one dollar brick of pasta be less than amazing, I was expecting culinary ART, etc, etc). Except I'm not going to excuse this place, because while they serve Raman type subpar products, they serve them at a much higher, completely not worth it price. It's outrageously overpriced, and the dishes that I've had here (tomato bisque, mac and cheese, mac and cheese with pulled pork, Thai soup, spaghetti and meatballs, and beef stroganov) have all been just. not. worth. it. Especially when you look at your bill and think jeez, I could have made four times as much at home and it would taste four times better. It's fast, it's not fried, and the staff is usually pretty nice (unlike say, Ingredient: WTF is wrong with the people there? Work out your hostility on your own dime, little Ingredient-ers). This place is almost certainly here to stay, because it seems people will forgive a lot for cheese and carbs, but it's just not worth it, IMO. An average noodles and company. I got whatever the new version of the penne rosa is to go and waited for it. Took about 10-15 minutes which seemed like an awful long time. There were two employees who were just walking around looking like they weren't doing anything which was kind of annoying considering the wait. Whoever was cooking with the cast iron pan was continuously chatting with another employee and only making one dish at a time. Seems to me it could have been both of them cooking...Maybe this place is just not well managed. I probably will avoid this place in the future. read more

Let's just say when I walked in to this establishment it felt alive. Everyone working was smiling and vibrant. The manager Ben helped me and my friends out with nothing but the best hospitality you could ever ask for, he deserves more recognition of you ask me. Noodles were not good pasta. My Korean beef was pretty bad. All noodles that were chewy and not many veggies and meat. Daughter noodles were also weird and spongy. They were long and hollow. The Parmesan sauce was good though. Wisconsin macaroni tastes exactly like a michelina TV dinner I once tried. Aweful. The bathroom had horrible stains running down the toilet botttom indicating no thorough cleaning had been done in months. My feet suck to the floor. The soap dispenser was covered in multiple types of crud from top to bottom. Also smelled like rotten fish that has been covered up for days with air freshener. I always get the Wisconsin Mac and Cheese with the Parmesan chicken. It is a very good mac and cheese. Tastes like my Grandma's homemade version she would always make for us every Sunday. Good food at a good price, not quite as vegan/vegetarian freindly as I would like, and many of the dishes that are technically vegetarian are loaded with cheese and cream - so I can't justify five stars, but they are in my lunch rotation and worthy of four.
