My girlfriend and I stopped in here for a lunch after a day of shopping and were super disappointed. I ordered the spicy beef noodles and they had barely any beef. The sauce was pretty good tho after adding saracha. My girlfriends food was just okay and actually got her sick later in the day. Was puking later in the day. We will not be coming back here.

We drove in late to Lawrence but were hungry. 20 mins before we rolled in, we ordered Noodles & Co online and the entire process was incredibly seamless. The delivery guy was in our hotel lobby minutes after we checked in, as planned. Our Japanese Pan Noodles dishes were delicious.

For a chain, not too shabby! Really seems to depend on what you get. A couple tried and true items are the pad thai and bangkok curry. I've always found the ingredients to be fresh, and surprisingly, I like these items than similar ones that can be found at Zen Zero or Encore simply due to the right "al dente" they get their noodles to be. Another new favorite that I've found here is the Thai Hot Pot. Mostly soup with a bit of noodles, meat, and veggies, this "hot pot" is perfect for cold winter days. It also comes with some flatbread that is garlicky and perfect for dipping in the hot pot soup. If you're scared of the spiciness level, don't be! This has just the slightest bit of heat. Not a fancy pants place to take a date, but not bad for a place in a small town like Lawrence. Simply stick with what you find to be tasty, and don't stray too much from that.

Buttered Noodles are my favorite food in the galaxy. They even offer salt, which was a surprise bonus to me.

For my entree, I chose the Chitarra Alla Gricia, and the server recommended pairing it with the Syrah. Again, excellent. I also enjoyed sharing a bowl of the Vodka Radiatori. I left full, happy, and with Tiramisu to go. If you find yourself with an opportunity to go to Zero Zero, don't hesitate to book that reservation. The food, the service, the patio; all great.

I took a pasta making class here a few years back and enjoyed it, but my wife really wanted to go back and dine there. She took advantage of the option to make a same day reservation for their patio. We ordered the following: focaccia, spicy vodka radiatori, chitarra alla gricia, and tiramisu. In descending order of what I enjoyed most - the tiramisu was my favorite part of the meal. It ended our lunch on a high note. This is my favorite style of tiramisu, and almost no one in KC does it like this. The spicy vodka radiatori tasted great and was well balanced with creamy cheese and spice. While it was enjoyable, I was realizing that an outdoor pasta lunch in the middle of summer isn't ideal. The whipped ricotta and honey spread served with the focaccia was the perfect spreadable pairing to the fresh, warm bread. Chitarra alla gricia is probably the closest to a Roman carbonara that I've had in KC. The pasta was thick and flavorful, and went well with the sauce. It was a weekday lunch so I paired the meal with a nonalcoholic Italian pilsner (since I'm big on beer; @halfwaywestbeer on IG). I will say I didn't feel entirely safe sitting on their patio. The planters between my seat and the road of speedy cars didn't assure me any safety. I enjoyed everything, but I don't plan to return to dine there. I would return for a pasta making class or to pickup some tiramisu to go. Don't stress if you're having a hard time getting a reservation. There's plenty of good pasta restaurants in KC of equal quality.

Being used to Kansas City staples like Garozzo's and Cascone's, we were excited to give it a try, but unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to the high rating hype. The Atmosphere & Service: The space was clean and the waitstaff was incredibly warm, nice, and welcoming throughout our meal. Drinks & Extras: They have a great wine selection! However, keep in mind they don't have a full physical bar, so non-wine options such as beer and spirits come from a can. Bread is also a separate purchase and doesn't include an olive oil dipping sauce nor did they bring out or have any fresh ground pepper or parmesan cheese which is a bit of a sin with our meals. Note: I did get a pepper shaker, but it poured heavy like a cheap bottle of wine... Lucky for me. I'm a pepper fan. My Entree: I tried their signature Tagliatelle pasta with meat sauce. While the flavor was definitely there and the pasta was cooked just past al dente (which I didn't mind), the sauce was quite runny on the plate. The Price: Very reasonable--it definitely won't blow a hole in your wallet! The Verdict: While the hospitality and prices are great, the food just missed that "chef's kiss" quality I was hoping for. It's a nice spot, but overall it felt a bit overhyped compared to top-tier Italian dining.

Wish we had just one more piece of garlic bread to eat with it! It was exactly what I was expecting. The pasta carbonara had a nice meaty flavor throughout from the guanciale. My husband loves meat so he added an Italian sausage which it really did not need. But I'm glad he did because the piece I stole from his plate was amazing with the tastiest char. I want to go back just for a side of Italian sausage. As for the wood fired lasagna... it was good. I saw reviews where people said it was the best they've ever had. I can't say the same. When the description says sweet marinara or sweet red sauce, believe the sweet part. This sauce is SWEET. It's definitely oriented for those who eat and love a lot of sugar. I personally think if it had a splash of béchamel on top to counterbalance the sweetness, it would be better, but that would totally change the dish. I'd DEFINITELY try their white lasagna anytime if they ever have that on special. The pistachio butter Panuozzo Dolce is pretty much exactly how it looks. Think of the pistachio butter just like peanut butter in texture. It's just green instead of brown, and tastes of pistachios instead of peanuts. It's wood fired dough and the pistachio butter. I think it needs some whipped cream on top to jazz it up. I'll try the tiramisu next time! I appreciate the decent priced bottles of wine. One thought on the decor (which is pretty cool), is that it would be really nice for those patrons sitting facing the big black wall, hanging some big black framed mirrors would be fabulous so we have something to look at besides our table mates. We will be back.

From the moment you walk in, it feels like stepping into a neighborhood deli back in Northeast. The smell alone tells you you're in the right place. The sandwiches? Huge. No skimping, no shortcuts. The meats are sliced right, the bread actually has character (crispy where it should be, soft inside), and everything tastes fresh and intentional. I ordered an Italian steak, and let me tell you--this is the kind of food that makes you close your eyes on the first bite. Perfect balance of meats, cheese, oil, and seasoning. Nothing overpowering, nothing missing. Just right. The staff is warm and welcoming, like they actually care if you enjoy your food (which matters). It's the kind of place where you feel comfortable, not rushed, and definitely well-fed. Johnny C's isn't trying to be trendy or fancy--it's doing what matters: good, honest deli food done right.
