The Nook Burger. Comes with fries

The halibut tostada is consistently good and fresh and one of the best values in town. It is $22 and has a huge piece of fish on it. The flavors are all good. The Nook burger is $20, comes with fries. I was told that's a going price of a burger these days. My friend said it was very good and just right.

Buffalo wings and Grilled Ribeye Steak Sandwich

We ordered the Buffalo chicken wings and the chicken was all red and bloody. Then we sent the chicken back and the new batch of chicken was bloody again. We also ordered the ribeye sandwich medium rare and it came raw and cold in the middle.

I definitely enjoyed the Topa Topa burger. I have never had brie on a burger and it actually tasted really good. The llama burger didn't have much flavor, even though there were a lot of toppings. I have had the pork belly quesadilla here before and I really enjoyed that. I appreciate that it's kid friendly but kids cannot sit at the bar inside or outside, of course. Always been a big fan of the nook a little hidden gem.

Might be the best burger I've ever had. The service was really good and the fries were delicious!

Went there to watch an NBA game, VIBE was amazing, they had several TVs so other sports events where on as well. There were several other businesses that shared the space and it was open seating. I sat at the bar which was a different business than the "Nook" (which is a food only business). You have to order at a window and are then given a buzzer to alert you when your food is ready. I ordered the "seafood burger", which was a blended patty of salmon, shrimp, and scallops and I opted for truffle fries. Although very busy and crowded on this particular day, it did not take long for my food. Even if the wait would've been longer, the food would have been well worth it.

Where's the supposed Australian lobster tail in the Lobster mac and cheese? How come I don't taste any truffle? Oh I know why BECAUSE they didn't put either of those ingredients that's supposed to be in it! Instead of lobster they put crawfish. It is falsely advertised...don't waste your $22 it's not worth it! If you want really good truffle lobster mac and cheese go to Hendry's they actually have a decent amount of lobster and you can smell & taste their truffle.

The Nook is inside the Lama Dog Tap Room and my husband, and I wanted to try their burgers since they came highly recommend by the locals. I'm so glad we came here! I was impressed with their burger selection, and it was hard to decide what one to get. The burgers are generously sized, with a thick and juicy patty that fills the bun. The patties are cooked to perfection, retaining their natural juices. Each bite is succulent and flavorful. You'll find a variety of toppings to customize your burger. From classic lettuce, tomato, and onion to more adventurous options like avocado or caramelized onions. The buns are soft, slightly toasted, and hold up well against the juicy patty and toppings. The seasoning is spot-on, enhancing the beefy flavor without overpowering it. Whether you like it simple or loaded with toppings, The Nook's burgers are a delightful treat for your taste buds and don't forget the seasoned fries! They were perfect nice and crispy just the way I like them! We rolled out of there we were so full! Remember, taste is subjective, but most visitors agree that The Nook's burgers are a must-try when you're in Santa Barbara! They also offer other types of food if you aren't a burger person such as salads, pork belly quesadilla, and sandwiches. The atmosphere inside the tap room is one of my favs! Didn't really interact with the staff just ordered from them.

    Is there a Kids menu?

I don't think so, but I am pretty sure they can make something work for kids. When I was there the other night there were a number of kids. So I would assume they would adjust some menu items to be completely kid friendly.

This location is in Santa Barbara's "Funk Zone" district, which was formerly an industrial area that's turned into a wine and art district full of interesting places to gander. The Good: * Huge dog-friendly covered outdoor seating * Full lineup of their signature Shalhoob craft beers. They also have fermented grapes and liquor, if beer isn't your jam. * Service was friendly and welcoming. * Street Parking and City-owned lots, as well. The lots are your best bet, and they're free for a short while. * Prices are very reasonable for a BBQ place. * The Street Corn app might be the best thing we ate here as the corn was super fresh right off the cob, and the Chipotle aioli was superb. * BBQ Beans was more of a bean soup, but it was decent. * Mac & Cheese was also pretty good. Carrots enjoyed it more than I did, but I might've been grumpy from the shitty meats (more on that in a minute). The Meh: * Tritip was completely dry and tasted like it was cooked in the oven and then finished on the grill. But, I will say, at least it was edible unlike the ribs... The Ugly: * Maybe the worst ribs I've ever had. They were just completely hammered with salt and completely blew out my palate within two bites, which is a shame because they were tender and cooked well, but jfc, no amount of sauce or anything is going to save something this salty. Conclusion: Maybe we just caught them on a bad day because a place doesn't survive for over fifty years serving up meat like this. I'd be willing to give them another try someday, but I need my tongue to recover first.

The salad was HUGE, definitely meant to share although I ended up cleaning it up. I really like the concept of hyper-local where even the fisherman gets a shoutout by name on the menu, but I think the presentation and execution fell flat. I'm not sure if a larger group or different menu items would have landed differently but my fish ended up a bit rubbery and overcooked. The other dishes were very underwhelming, and it was really tough to get the attention of my server. When it came time to pay, they offered me a pen which didn't work, then when I asked for another one, it didn't work, and finally I asked a bus boy who gave me 5 pens which 4/5 didn't work. I felt so awkward having to do so much to get anyone's attention, and then to be offered a total of 6 non functioning pens and one barely functional one.

She was about 9 years old and shaking while she poured us water, which made us feel badly for her and not really understand why a child was working at this upscale restaurant but watching the only server/owner running around on the floor it seemed necessary to have this child working the host stand. I understand they were busy or understaffed, but we had a variety of issues throughout our visit that went unaddressed with what resulted in a very odd outburst. The wait for drinks was 20+ minutes, and the wait for a food order exceeded an hour. One drink came out incorrectly. 30+ minutes after ordering our bread came out cold and without butter, and of our party of 3, one guest's entree took an additional 10 minutes to come out without any acknowledgement from staff. Overall the service was really disappointing and there was no apology at any point throughout our meal even though it seemed clear the service was lacking throughout our visit. When the server/owner came to drop our check he asked how our experience was. I truly tried to be as polite as possible while explaining our frustrations. In addition to the long wait times, we had a drink come out the wrong flavor, a rude bartender, and one crepe came out without the Brie as described, which I didn't get a chance to explain. I also mentioned having a child greet us was unexpected to which he told us he was teaching his child responsibility and that's why she was working. He seemed set off by the feedback I was trying to give and he then threw my credit card onto the table and he told me he didn't want my money. I didn't want a free meal, I wanted to give feedback into our experience which I would classify as the worst restaurant service I have ever had. I keep replaying the whole experience trying to figure out what I could have done differently to have had a positive experience but as a long time server in Santa Barbara I'm having a hard time reconciling this crazy experience.

The ambience was lively, the service staff were warm, and the food was amazing. One of my favorite things they offered as starters were their assortment of mini muffins (banana nut, rosemary, cheese etc). They were so good! The staff was nice enough to give me some to take home at the end of our meal. As we were enjoying the muffins, there was point in the evening where the staff all came together and sang "Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong. It felt special and was nice hearing everyone sing along. We eventually ordered a jambalaya pasta dish and fish with vegetables dish. Needless to say, the pasta was out of this world. It was creamy, savory, and perfectly balanced in flavor. I'd come back just for that pasta dish alone, and that says a lot as I am not a huge pasta lover. Since it was my birthday, they surprised me with an ice cream dessert with chocolate writing on the plate. I was most impressed with the quality of chocolate they used for the writing. It was not Hershey's syrup one would assume, they went an extra step and used high quality thick chocolate that they melted to write my birthday greeting in cursive. Thankfully my name is long so I could eat more chocolate lol. By the end of the meal, I left the Palace with a feeling of nostalgia and mild sadness because I had to leave. That's when I knew I experienced something special. I can't wait to go back!

For appetizers, we ordered the Cajun Popcorn and the Soft Shell Crab. I haven't had a lot of crawfish before, so I really wanted to try the Cajun Popcorn. These crawfish tails are dipper in cornbread buttermilk batter and fried. They're crispy and fun to eat! They give a sherry wine dipping sauce, which was also yummy! Would recommend getting these! We also wanted to try the Soft Shell Crab, and you can get it as an appetizer or an entree. The appetizer comes with one soft shell crab that's been stuffed with Bienville crabmeat dressing, coated the cornmeal flour, and flash fried. It has just the right amount of crispiness! It's served with a jalapeno beurre-blanc and rice. For our entree, we shared the Crawfish Pasta Lafitte. We couldn't get enough of the crawfish tails so decided to get the pasta that had them as well. The pasta also had caramelized onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, cream, and creole seasoning. Very tasty! Would recommend this pasta! For the fun part that I mentioned--they have a magician that walks around and does magic tricks at each table! It was entertaining and very cool to see some of the tricks up close! They also have a Sing-Along moment in the evening where they'll had out lyric sheets to everyone, turn on the music, and everyone sings the song together. They were playing "What A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong on the evening I was there, but the song changes and they ask you not to open the lyrics book until right before the song, so it's a surprise!

He had reserved a table weeks in advance, and even though we ran a few minutes late due to the fiesta madness and Uber challenges, the staff was incredibly kind and understanding. Seriously, they turned what could have been a stressful situation into a smooth entry! Our server, Sierra, was an absolute gem--probably the best server I've encountered in ages! She kicked off the evening by walking us through the menu and setting the tone for our culinary adventure. Talk about being in good hands! To toast our special day, she even surprised us with complimentary champagne. Cheers to that! Now, let's dive into the food! We started with the **bread and butter**--trust me, don't skip it! Next up was the **bacon date preserve**, which was nothing short of incredible. Then came the acorn tagliatelle, made with wild mushrooms and acorn flour. I've never tasted anything quite like it! Unique and delicious! But the real star of the show was the **Santa Maria barbecue tri-tip**. Juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor--it's hands down the best tri-tip I've ever had. I'm still dreaming about it! To wrap up our meal, we indulged in the **dessert wine flight**--a must for anyone visiting! Each sip was a delightful surprise, and we finished with the **avocado mousse**, a light and unique dessert that felt like a perfect ending after a rich meal. As a dessert lover, I was thrilled to find something so indulgent yet refreshing! As if the evening couldn't get any better, the chef himself came to our table to check in. He was humble and genuinely cared about the experience he was providing. It's no wonder Barbareno is Michelin-rated! We can't wait to come back and bring the kids next time.
