It's my first time in the store since the pandemic started. The store was pretty crowded but it still maintains the cleanliness and the well-organized displays and selections. There are new good and branded stuffs. I really like their great deals on their items, prices are fair and reasonable and the most of thee items are in good condition and has a nice quality. They got better selections and everyone was busy inside but a staff inside was able to help me on the size of the shoe that I picked. It was nice seeing that everything seems back to normal now and I had a pretty good time shopping. Visit the store and get stuffs that can be a best gift for Christmas in great deals! read more

I like this store. Whenever I wanted to shop, I always prefer on going in here. It is big, wide and spacious. There are variety of choices from clothes, accessories to shoes and the likes. They also have the nicest brands. Last time I went in here, there was quite a lot of people and everyone was so busy. There was a lot of new arrivals and most of it interesting. Different designs and quality of the products are available. I found a nice shoes from Nike and glad that my size is available. I also bought nice shirts and pants. I waited for like 15 mins in the checkout and the staff in there was nice and friendly. Friends visited from out of town and wanted to see what Nordstrom Racks are all about. This is my first time stopping by this downtown store. I didn't like it here as much as the suburbs. It's got a huge selection of shoes. And it's a little more well organized - staff is constantly reorganizing it seems, which is reasonable considering that much more people come through here than in the 'burbs. And there's really cheap things in a clearance section. But I couldn't find a single thing that caught my eye, and for the most part neither did my friends. Digging effort is just bigger here. For quality items the suburbs has got a better selection - from what I've seen it looks like the items there are mostly more expensive to begin with, but with a big discount they are good deals. I like that they reorganized everything. However, mirrors are hard to find now. I'm not satisfied with the merchandise as I used to be. It's a step up from TJ Maxx and Marshalls, but I would go here more for the shoes than any of the clothes. One cool thing is that you can checkout with people that are wearing green shirts. They have a really large selection of brands and items that I haven't been able to find at other locations. The store is sadly a huge mess. Product was everywhere and hard to locate. I tried to ask an employee to help me locate a larger size in a jacket I was trying to exchange and he basically said no and walked away. Ok rude, I'll struggle on my own thanks. I also noticed there are price discrepancies. I bought myself a beanie that was on the clearance rack and then went back to my step mom the same beanie a day later. This store has gone through a massive remodel on both floors but one thing is still apparent. They have a very large selection of brand name products at a discounted price. Their shoe selection looks like it got larger if that was possible. We always find good deals on everything we buy here and we usually find things we really didn't need but we buy anyway. They have a large selection of men's and women's clothing. They have more than 10 registers to get people checked out and on their merry way. Not that they are all working at one time but the line did move pretty fast. They also sell hair products, jewelry, some home-goods, and lots and lots of shoes. We will definitely be back and it may even be again this weekend. read more

I go into a Nordstrom Rack probably at least once every two weeks. I feel like that every time I go, I never find anything that just sticks out to me and I have to have. My husband on the other hand, he always finds at least a pair of dress shoes and a button down. Well, I had just finished at Macys (probably the last person still shopping at Macys) across the street and had seen their TUMI selection. At Macys I knudged my husband as to say 'Hey babe, Christmas is coming, I want the TUMI backpack'. Well, the backpack at Macys across the street was at $495 (plus tax). We decided to walk into this location Nordstrom Rack. I walk in and there is a table of TUMI bags on sale... The same backpack I was loving at Macys, was $225 here! Almost half off. I looked at my husband and said "Naw buddy. I'm not waiting for Christmas. I'm getting this for myself!" I just got back from our trip to Paris and was so happy to have my TUMI bag with me. DEALS & STEALS! I hardly ever go into Nordstrom, mostly because my wallet becomes non-existente when my eyes wander to a pair of $triple-digit pants. Luckily, my friend convinced me to go in here and hence, my prior yearnings about not being able to afford brand name pantalones has come to and end. Ohhh, that's why it has the "rack" part. It's on saaaaale. DUH. Overwhelming is the word I want to use next. There were a TON of people shopping. First of all it was freakin snowing so scarfs and beanies seemed like the first things to go. The line to pay was kind of long but the cashiers were super fast but not rude and sloppy about it. Just prepare yourself to get lost in a sea of clothes and toads (my nickname for children) as both get misplaced and mismatched. But if you have the patience of a school teacher be prepared to find awesome deals. And cute to boot! read more

This review is written for an online order. It's not about this State Street Nordstrom Rack Store Location" Product is a nice, comfy and good quality slipper. I loved it. (My package (black color item) was lost by the carrier and I did not receive the item but I ordered 2 different colors of this item and they were shipped separately. I received the brown one, that's how I know it's comfy). I gave only 1 star because black one was never delivered and shipping status is "delivered on the website". I talked to front desk of my building first and they suggested me to give it 1 more day because they said Nordstrom Rack / Hautelook deliveries never arrive on time. I waited 2 more days and I contacted to Nordstrom Rack customer service. They apologized, started a investigation and refunded my money but I still wanted to receive the item. I immediately ordered the same item after refund and the same thing happened to my 2nd order, I can't believe this! I contacted to customer service again and they implied that I'm lying and they suggested me to use more secured delivery address and they said they won't be able to cover this kind of situation again! I was asking some questions and I was extremely polite to customer representative. He was responding with very long copy/paste sentences and I could not even read his responses and he disconnected in middle of the conversation. I never experienced this kind of rude and dis-respective behavior from any customer service. I contacted to them again right away after the 1st person disconnected and said I was asking some questions and customer representative was disconnected. Guess what? 2nd customer representative disconnected again! I live in a very secured high rise building and none of my packages was lost before. I don't want to look like a horrible person with saying that but I need to say, my apartment's rent is $4k+/month and I don't need to lie to them for $65 slipper, it was so rude. Only Nordstrom packages are lost here. Nordstrom Rack has my delivery address so I'm sure they checked my building during the investigation and saw how secure it is. And front desk of my building said they always do this. I suggest Nordstrom Rack to ask their carrier a picture of the package after the delivery as proof. In addition I received brown color (separate package) and shipping status is still "in transit" on the website. This company and website have issues for sure! And final comment, I don't want to be racist but these 2 customer representative were from the same country (it was obvious according to their names). And previously I never talked to any Nordstrom Rack customer service representative from this country so I don't know if I should blame these 2 specific people for these dis-respective situation or I should blame Nordstrom Rack? I guess both... I was a loyal member, I even have Nordstrom Credit card. I will close my credit card and I won't shop from this company anymore. read more

I went to the Nordstrom Rack a few months ago on State in Chicago, IL and found someone "misplaced" size 2 clothing into the plus size rack. This was very upsetting since there were only 2 racks of plus size clothing compared to half the upper level in the store. Today I came in to find no plus size clothing and the customer service agent tells me it was "a poor seller". So, thank you Nordstrom's. Because of your discrimination of plus size women, I won't shop at any of your stores, order plus size clothing on your website or buy gifts for my family. I came here hunting for some Murad skin products. My face was straight freezer-burnt and I needed help. My gay best friend and beauty consultant extraordinaire advised, "Murad! Stat! WRINKLES ARE FOREVER!!!" - and bitch don't play, he was talkin' preemptive botox when we were still in high school (obviously, a precursor to the Bush doctrine). Murad, for those who don't know, is this overpriced skin-care line made w/ seal testicles or some such magic ingredient (kidding! no seals were hurt in saving my face). Anyways, I assumed it would be cheaper to just run into the rack, and I failed to check the prices online first. Too bad, because here's the breakdown: Moisture Silk Eye Gel: $49 online/$48.97 at the rack Essential-C Day Moisture SPF 15: $56 online/$55.97 at the rack Age Balancing Night Cream: $80 online/$79.97 at the rack Renewing Cleansing Cream: $35 online/$34.97 at the rack That's right, I saved 12 bloody cents. AND, they give you free samples online and shipping is free on orders over $65, so I've been officially ass-ed out! Since I can't resist going to any Nordstrom Rack I see, even when I'm on vacation, I know my Nordstrom Rack locations. This one is average for women and the merchandise doesn't seem that different from what you'd see at your N. Rack in California right now. Let's talk about shoes - they only have one row per size, so this is a smaller N. Rack shoe department. Not only that, they don't have the higher end brands of shoes. It seemed like the best brands they had were Coach, Stuart Weitzman and Pour La Victoire. The layout seems awkward to me - with all the accessories downstairs and home goods. The home goods selection at any N. Rack isn't that good. The scarves and handbag collections were good - about what you'd find at other N. Rack locations. I did spot a new batch of Marc Jacobs sunglasses. Why do they always put the security tag in the middle - no one looks good with a security tag dangling in the middle of his/her face. read more

You want "nice stuff" but don't want to pay "full price". Welcome to the club. I've picked up my share of nice gear here at decent prices but the main reason this store sets itself apart from the rest is the awesome tailor in the men's department. If you need your suit tailored, this is the man to see. Even if you didn't buy your suit from "The Rack", he'll measure you up and straighten you out (for a moderate fee, of course - suits bought at The Rack come w/ complimentary fitting). He won't mess about, either. You'll step up on his podium and he'll look you over as a painter would look over a blank canvas and before you can say "double breasted suits are for old schoolers" you'll be properly fitted for your suit masterpiece. My very generous ex-boss recently gifted me with a Nordstrom gift card for a rather obscene amount of money and it dawned on me that it could also be used at Nordstrom Rack; all the better since I could get way more for my money here than at the Nordstrom store itself (which I also love). Women's jeans (at least the good brands) don't come cheap so Nordstrom Rack is the perfect place to go to buy premium brand jeans, without having to pay upwards of $150. They carry all my favorite brands: Paige Premium Denim, Rock and Republic, and my personal go-to brand, Joe's Jeans. Sure, they're from last season, but my ass can't tell the difference, and they always fit great and I pay less than half of the original retail price. I also stocked up on black Hue tights which I wear with everything. They cost only $5.97, and I can't even buy them at Target for that price. In addition, I was thrilled to see my favorite brand of thongs here (Commando) in fun, vibrant colors like coral and hot pink so I scooped up a few of those too. It's not cool to have a vpl when you're sporting Joe's Jeans. I still love to shop at Nordstrom and will probably spend the balance of my gift card there, but there's no high like finding a great score at Nordstrom Rack. Do beware of fellow shoe vultures - if you see a pair you may possibly want - clutch 'em while you shop! Please take this review with a grain of salt - I am a fat Jewish male with no fashion sense and mild claustrophobia. So no, I did not enjoy my time here. I was hoping that because this was a "Nordstrom Rack" - it would be less than full department store prices. And this was in fact true. Unfortunately, the prices weren't ENOUGH less than full-price for me to enjoy shopping here. Maybe it's the fact that it's Christmastime and that means six times the proper number of people are shopping here at the same time, but it was all way too crowded for me. And not just because of the people. The racks are TOO CLOSE TOGETHER. I cannot maneuver. I am a moderately fat man, and I am wearing a coat because it is freezing outside. Hence, watching me navigate between two racks of puffy women's jackets is equivalent to watching the Kool-Aid Man navigate his way into a building through the brick wall - with much flying debris and a disturbingly-booming "OH YEAH" once clear through to the other side. I'm sure many great philosophers have had this thought before and put it more eloquently - but society would be pretty fucking awesome if it weren't for all the other people in it. This is the Loop of downtown Chicago - show some goddamned DECORUM, people! I don't need to hear you shouting at your offspring from across the store. I don't need to witness you harassing your elderly spouse's cart-navigation skills in such a shrill tone. I definitely don't need you slamming into me because your pile of "stuff" is so high it impedes your vision enough to knock into other people. And forget about expecting an apology when that happens... It was one of those "get me the hell out of here" moments when all three of those events transpired in 30 seconds' time. Maybe in a less-crowded time, the store is manageable to shop in. but I still didn't see any deals worth getting. A sale that brings a very-overly-priced item of clothing (all of which fits into either "designed for a whore", "bland and useless" or "even a fat male with no fashion sense can't imagine a sane person wearing this monstrocity") to a moderately-overly-priced item is not much of a sale at all in my mind. But maybe you have real fashion sense and I'm wrong. Don't let my review deter you. I'll just be one less person you'll be bumping into while fighting for your merchandise. read more

Ok, Nordstrom Rack has some incredible finds: DVF dresses for $100, Valentino Blazers for $300, and Donald J. Pliner shoes for $70 (and that's just what my sister and I found!). It's messy and crazy on a Saturday and you've definitely got to be willing to pick through everything, but it's totally worth it. You definitely lose all of the beauty and elegance of an actual Nordstrom, especially when it comes to the staff: Sister to cashier: How much is this blazer? You will find much better deals on great clothes here than you'll find at other "mark-down" chains. Usually its "hit or miss" at other places, but here you ALWAYS find SOMETHING. The shoe selection is big and diverse. The womens' clothing is insane- designer dresses for $20! Its easy to find plenty of cute tops too. Purses, cosmetics, flashy jewelry... My husband and I visited this location in Chicago when we were in town. It was walking distance from our hotel, nicely located among many other shopping stores along State Street. We came on a weekday morning when it had just opened so everything was very neat and tidy and weren't too many other shoppers in the store. We both spend a good amount of time here (at least 40 mins) and I literally looked through the whole shoe section in my size but didn't find anything to my liking. Nordstrom Rack is really a hit or miss with me - depends on my mood, how busy the store is, how tired I am. I was in the mood with a clean store when it wasn't that busy but just didn't find anything worthwhile except my staples at Nordstrom Rack - which are black opaque nylons with the Jessica Simpson brand. I'd recommend this store to at least check out, and would re-visit if I were ever back in Chicago. read more

Deals can be found here but not everything is a deal. As soon as holiday "season" hits this place turns into a permanent madhouse and the potential to score a deal is no longer fun because you have to stand in line behind 20 housewives who don't care if they block the entire escalator and make you wait to go up/down. For men, better selection in clothing/shoes can be found at Filene's Basement across the street, which is bigger and a little less frilly but sometimes has better deals They do have a big shoe department here, but it's all mostly "loose ends" of crap. read more

I am seriously in love with this place. It's really odd, because I'm not as big a brand whore as one might think. Sure, I like Gap brand or any of their sister products (Old Navy, Banana, etc) and I'm obsessed with Dr. Martens... but other than those names, I really could care less who makes what and where I wear it. That being said, I would say that a lot of the stuff at Nordstrom Rack seems like a huge rip off to me. I realize that when a set of sheets is on sale for $109 down from $219, that's a good deal - but who the hell pays $109 for sheets?! I don't care who made them, that's just insane. However, they really do have a lot of good deals. Currently they have nice down coats for $39 and a bunch of other fashionable jackets and coats for under $75. That's a deal. Their shoes are also great. If you have the time and patience to navigate your way through the explosion of shoes on the racks, there's millions of deals to be had. My advice: don't go looking for something specific. You'll really go out of your mind trying to find a pair of black pumps or a red button up shirt. As with all discount stores, you should just go to browse the deals. I find it to be very exciting when I go into Nordstrom Rack and I find really great Australian Shearling boots (obviously not UGG) for $40! That's not why I went in the store but it was nice to walk out with them and now my feet are warm and comfy. So bring a bag full of patience and your surprised face because you'll probably find a lot of great stuff you didn't intend on buying when you get there. read more

Yes, this is my secret addiction. This and the Salvation Army near my house. Go figure. I've found countless great buys here including a Tulle jacket for $30 (the exact same one I drooled over at Presence, but couldn't afford at $90), C&C California tank tops for $10, Smartwool socks for $8, and lots of other great finds. I do, however, dislike the shoe rack. How can anyone find anything in that rubble? It's worse than the clothing by the pound pile at the Garment District in Boston. Yuck. Yuck, yuck, yuck. Predatory crowds staking out overstuffed racks of fashion-victim-y tacky failures or weirdly-cut and ill-fitting staples. Multiple floors of existential grief. Horror and loathing. Nausea. I'm probably just a snob, right? Let me plead my case. The selection is weird and the discounts aren't really that great. If I try to find something I need here, I end up spending a few frustrated hours with nothing to show for it. This stuff didn't sell for a reason: Hey, look, it's half of a Theory suit! Uh - but no other half. Hey, look, it's -- a bunch of badly designed overpriced heels that hurt your feet! But they're on sale!!!! You're actually SAVING money by buying them!! If you don't actually need anything, it's a large store that has some value as a downtown time-waster. Some of the failed-trend stuff is worth a good laugh, and you can clown around and make fun of it without enduring the stink-eye you'll get at the more stately Nordstrom. You can try on sunglasses, spray your friend with New Age toiletries, hide in the coats. We got half an hour of great times playing with a pink clearance snap purse that looked like the female anatomy. That purse was voracious. And look, it's Juicy Couture!!!!!! The name says "couture" so you know it's quality all the way!! And on sale! Like, royalty and heads of state wear that stuff! (I'm not saying, don't buy it. I'm saying this stuff is worth, at best, the discounted price. Usually less.) Look, you want bargains on quality stuff in a no-frills setting, and you're willing to wade through a sea of bad deals? Go to Marshall's or TJ Maxx. Lower stress, better environment. Less good stuff, admittedly, but bigger savings. Do you want the stuff they sell at Nordstrom, but you want it on sale? Shop at the regular Nordstrom. The sales there often are better deals, and a lot of the good stuff never makes it to Rack. (But: my friend says that she goes here to buy Spanx, a brand of magical underwear. She says they are cheaper here and they don't go on sale at Nordstrom. Nota bene.) read more

Spending a gift certificate here today I realized what a treasure trove this place is: piles and stacks of really good stuff for half the price! I guess its older news or something but old news from 2007 is a lot better than my wardrobe from 1996. However be prepared to SORT through said piles and stacks of disorganized goods, because this place is not designed for helping you find something easily, nor is it pretty in itself. But all I care about, when I'm forced to go to a damned department store, is cheapness, and this place makes me happy. Sweet designer purses when you walk in, sold! I like walking in to a store that I want to purchase everything. This one does that to you. I like the inexpensive makeup kits, the hundreds of designer sunglasses, endless counters of jewelry and that's just the first floor. There is always such a brilliant range in my size (7 1/2) from the 4" f*** -me pumps to cute, delicate little flats. Like the potato chips ads say: you will never be satisfied with just one! I will add an additional star when the staff eliminates the preposterous and annoying policy of allowing a limited # of items in the dressing room at a time. Really. Short and sweet and to the point: Whether you need shoes to fit a decidedly petite size 5 or a larger size 11, you will find what you need, want, lust after. You'll find L.A.M.B's decidedly cutting-edge stilettos for under $80, Cole Haan's moccasins and ballet slippers for the mid-$50s, or if you're like me, you'll comb through the racks for the perfect Seychelles for under $30. Yes, you heard me right. Shopping here won't bankrupt you, unless you're a bit of a shoe addict like me. My thought process usually looks like this: Ooooh, that's pretty. Wow, can I walk in those. Nope. Yes. Oh, Yes. And, these? Raaaawr. I always find at least a handful of shoes per visit to the Great Rack of Nordie's. And, then I ponder....rent money? I mean, who needs an apartment. ?!? Attention all ladies with tiny feet: PLEASE REPORT TO THE MOTHER SHIP ON STATE STREET. If you wear a size 4 or 5 shoe, you know what it's like to walk into a shoe store or department store and find that there isn't a single shoe in your size, let alone the style or color you're looking for. Sophisticated, cute, tiny shoes are IMPOSSIBLE to find! So I don't know why I waited so long to go after my size 4.5 friend told tales of a footwear mecca for shoe worshippers with petite feet called Nordstrom Rack. Shopping for small shoes in this store is like hitting the motherlode!!! It doesn't matter that the shoes are heaped in chaotic piles on the racks and tossed all over the floor by shoe-crazed ladies on the hunt. It doesn't matter that there's barely anywhere to sit and try on the armloads of shoes you will greedily pull off the racks. What's important is that there are racks and racks of impossibly chic, gorgeous size 4, 4.5, and 5 shoes (and even more in the other sizes too, but whatever, you size 7 and 8 ladies can find shoes anywhere- you don't know what it's like for us!) like Michael Kors, Miss Sixty, Stuart Weitzman for HALF what you'd pay for a pair of shoes at Nine West. And if you're willing to go into the realm of triple digit prices (I'm too cheap) there's Prada, Burberry, Jimmy Choo... see what I mean by mecca?? No more buying a size 5.5 and stuffing the toes with tissues! No more hunting in desperation through the kids' section for shoes that look semi-grown-up! No more shuffling around in shoes that slip off your feet with every step! No more dreaming about miracle foot implant surgery that will bump you up to a size 6! Yay for Nordstrom Rack!! Came here for some emergency clothes after the airlines misplaced my luggage while on a business trip. I used to live in Seattle for 11 years, so I have certain expectations of stores bearing the Nordstrom name. The selection was great and the prices what I expected. The three star deduction is for the staff in the men's department who were more interested in making what I consider inappropriate comments about the various women shopping and hitting on the ones they mutually agreed were "banging", and not at all interested in actually answering a question or two. And when you could get their attention, they were insufferable jackasses. Needless to say, I spent $12.97 + tax there and then went across the street to Macys and bought the rest of what I needed (suit, dress shirts, socks, shoes) for my Monday meetings there. Their salesmen were directly responsible for them loosing over $500 in sales today, solely due to their belittling attitude. They get two instead of one star because their cashier was pleasant and up to Nordstrom standards. I exclusively ship at Nordstrom/Rack, Macys, Brooks Brothers and Charles Tyrwhitt... If I lived in Chicago, I'd strike all Nordstrom and Rack stores off that list. read more

Every time I visit Chicago I get excited when thinking about going to this store. I think this Nordstrom has a great selection of women's clothes. I've had the luck of finding many great dresses here, including the ones on a nice discount! The shoe selection is smaller but I have generally thought this location has a higher proportion of clearance vs regular discounted shoes. Fabulous all around. read more
