This is a great Nordstrom Rack. Definitely appreciated the fact that they have a kid's clothing and toy area. It's pretty organized and offers a lot of different types of clothing, especially for women. The hubby and I were lucky that both of our kids were passed out in the stroller so that we could shop to our heart's content. And shop we did! Tip: There are little check-out desks sprinkled around the store. If you have around 5 items to buy, press on the button and a check-out person will come to you. I've been coming to this location on a weekly basis and love their selections of designer goods for a fraction of the price you see at the High End stores. Today, however, my experience was horrifying. I went in today to purchase some off-season boots and knowing that they had half off boots and encountered 2 problems. At the beginning I grab a few boots, the first boot (i truly adored) were priced at $39.99 had an opening in the front but the back was completely covered which puzzled me whether to categorize it as a wedge or boots and the second pair of boots (for someone else) were regular black leather boots. To confirm the prices/ and style, I approached the cashier (brown/blondish hair/wavy Caucasian) asking them if they were boots and ask if they were half off and she said yes, of course. After browsing the store for an hour with my final two purchases, I stood in line to check out for about 15-20 minutes, and a new cashier (Man, brown hair, bigger man, glasses, possibly a Latino) did not greet me at all. I thought ok, this is strange. He scanned a price that I wasn't familiar with. It turned out that there were 2 price tags on there my leather black boots and he seemed as though he was truly confused the 2 price tags. So I had to wait another few minutes for someone to check on the price without any apologies for waiting for the price check even though I was not at fault. While waiting, he told me that the other boots which I adored was not half off and so I questioned,"how is it possible when the other (the girl) staff said that they are considered boots and this other man staff says it's not". He then calls over to the girl staff (that previously helped me) and said, "did you say that they were boots?" She replied"Yes, but its up to you if you want to give her the discount!" My reaction was,"What!?!" I wasn't aware that customer service cashiers could decide on which sales they could give depending on their moods?! I wish I had the time to speak with the manager in this regards. I am so upset at how I was treated today. I've worked in customer service when I was younger and I've always treated them with smiles and gratitude. These guys need more training and definately need to change their attitude prior to coming to work. Regardless, I spent over an hour here and was ready for check out how can you change prices on me?! Becareful when you shop here. These cashiers might change prices on you last minute and also give you attitude. Avoid at all cost. Maybe invest in a self check out machine (like at Target/ Walmart) so that people don't have to interact with these rude cashiers. read more

Nordstrom Rack is my spot and this particular location is one of my favorites. It's located across the street from South Coast Plaza. In my opinion this location has some of the best discounted designer items you can find. From handbags to clothes to shoes they have it all. I'm a size 10 women's shoe (sometimes bigger depending on designer and style) and Nordstrom rack always has plenty of shoes for me to sift through. This particular location has a huge designer shoe selection in larger sizes. The line can be crazy long as in all Nordstrom Rack locations but they do have some mobile checkout stations that will help you if you're using a credit card and have less than 5 items. Their return window is also great, with 90 days for you to change your mind on a purchase. read more

The lady at the checkout was great. Other service was not good. I bought two Clinique items. When I got to the checkout both items were marked with the wrong price. Manager said my choices were I had to pay what the computer was ringing them up as or leave them. I always thought a store had to honor the price the item was marked with. The total difference was a total of about $3. I decided to be the better person and not be petty about a small difference. I guess Nordstrom Rack needs the money more than me. It's not about the money, but the service. Not one, but two items were marked incorrectly. After I'd finished my transaction you would think they would go and change the price of the other items on the shelf. No, the manager walked off in the opposite direction. I have been a long time Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack customer and I have never felt like my business was as unimportant to them as it was on my visit today. When you have a problem, they will do nothing to help you. I remember a day when Nordstrom treated their customers like they mattered. At this store, this I'd definitely not they case. The manager on duty, Ana, only cares to state policy and tells you what they can't do for you, not how they are willing to help you or keep your business. This location seems to be much better than most. They have a great selection of just about everything. They are a bigger store so they get more items which means better selection. I usually can find what I am looking for here and if they don't have it they are happy to check other stores. The big drawback with coming to this location is the line to check out is always so long. I love this place because it is huge and you can find hidden gems. I'm all about the hunt. I've been here so many times, I've lost count. I can't believe I haven't written a review sooner. At any rate, this Nordstrom Rack is in very close proximity to South Coast Plaza and Nordstrom, which means goodies galore. There used to be great stuff here in the designer handbag section, but I think due to the Kardashians and other celebrities carrying high end bags, they don't get shipped to NR as often. But sometimes, they do have very nice bags though. If you're eying something, better snatch it up right away. I learned the hard way...been eying this MBMJ wallet and lo and behold, it was gone. Albeit, it was a few days later, I was bummed. So if you like large crowds, searching and digging, and paying considerably less than retail, then this is your place. It does get hectic around holiday time, but the lines move pretty quickly. Returns, exchanges, and purchases all use the same single line. Cashiers wave flags when they are ready to take the next customer (similar to Fry's Electronics). I think this method is very effective, not to mention they have a slew of cashiers waiting to take your money. By far, this NR has the most designer jeans and shoes that I've ever seen at a NR in California. They have so many shoes, in fact, that they only leave one shoe out. A lot of the NR now have both shoes out, but not this one, I'm guessing, due to lack of space. NR even has fragrances and cologne at a discount. The ones that they sell at the regular store. Holy Fuck! The women in here are vultures! I came in here Thursday afternoon..... Hmm around 430 or so.. It was my first time in here... Everyone has told me of all the good deals so i had ot find out.. BUT.. These women aka voltures in here (mainly mid 40's-60's) were out of control! I was over the rudeness and the not saying excuse me and shoving their way through. So, yes.. I had to give them the glare that I do so well when one crosses me.. Nothing had to be said.. Just that look I can give is words enough... Any-hoot I found tons of deals! They also have a childrens department in here selling cute baby clothes. I found the cuteiest Ralph Lauren dress for my niece and it was only $20 and some change... The Wacoal brads that I love so much and spend so much on at Nordstrom and Macy's is also here in the lingerie department for more than half the price as to what I spend on them regulary. I must of been in here for more than an hour. For All Man Kind jeans $99.. I mean that is such a good deal.. Lets just say I walked out with twpo large bags full... I also noticed perfume here. Donna Karen Gold for $40 is a steal.. But, a friend told me that the perfumes are old and sometimes deffective... So, not sure if I will take a chance on that.. So, if you haven't been here.. I hate, hate shopping. Ok maybe its more I don't like shopping. I'm with most guys when the word shopping comes up "Oh Hell No", I'd rather be dropped off at a sports bar while you go nutty in the mall or dept store. Better yet a fine dining establishment where I can enjoy shopping for what plate of food to bring out to my table. I do realize I have to shop sometime so I try and do them a few times a seasons with a emphasis on "few". If it wasn't for the fact that I actually needed to buy some decent clothes to wear in the HK office I probably could have gone another year before coming here. It was last September before going to HI when I was last here, so you see its only in necessity that I shop. My everyday office attire is Jeans, T-shirt and flip flops and yes I actually do work in a office! Luckily the HK office doesn't have a dress code either but I thought it would be better if I actually bought a few blouses (gag) and button up shirts (another gag) to wear. Mind you I'm heading over to 90% humidity so I had to make sure they were of light weight material. I found a few and I'm very pleased with them. I've been to three different Nordyrack's and so far, the one at Metro Pointe in Costa Mesa has the best selection as far as men's clothing goes. Nice suits, usually at least half off, and sometimes even 75% off or more. Cush Talbot ties, $150 dress shirts for $40... good deals to be had. Customer Service is awful. My family and I enjoy shopping here together for special occasions, and our recent visit will be our last. We've had exactly two incidents in the past with our gift cards showing up as zero balance. We had to call and check the balance. The full amount was there and their system kept saying zero balance. We ended up paying for our items with cash.. Not a problem at all. In our recent visit, the same thing happened. This time the cashier asked for the managers assistance. This manager was giving attitude and treating us disrespectfully. Eye rolling, no eye contact, and tone of voice was appalling. She treated my parents as if they were lying about a remaining balance and gave them the dirtiest look. Why would someone hire and pay her to treat customers like crap? It's strange because we weren't arguing in any way, and she started off with a nasty attitude. When the cashier said there's nothing she could do, we were like "ok, no problem". There is no excuse for the managers rude behavior. It is nobody's fault that the system was not reading the card properly. But did she ever attempt to resolve the gift card issue? No. After we paid and started walking away, that manager made comments and cursed at us while we were leaving. The other cashiers were laughing with her. We will not give business to this store nor recommend this place to others. They really need to reevaluate their employees performance and fire them if necessary. read more

I shop at this store all the time, I have the nordstrom card and spend thousands. This store use to be the best one, compared to the one in laguna hills, orange and Huntington Beach. I was just there and everything was a horrible mess, clothes and bags were all over the floor and their sunglasses section was the worst, for a minute i though i was at a thrift store, swap meet or a really bad garage sale. I was so annoyed that i wanted to talk to the supervisor on duty, after making eye contact and trying to get someone's attention several times, seems like everyone was busy or just ignoring me,. Hope the store manager read this and do something about it, I know it's a discount store but come on you are still paying $100 bucks for sunglasses that's don't come with a box or matching case and most of the time show wear and tear. read more

Horrible store in regards to pretty much everything! Worst service & management I've ever experienced. I've been shopping at Nordstrom's for 25 years plus and it's always been my "go to". I shop Nordstrom's at South Coast Plaza, Fashion Island, Nordstrom Rack and online.I shop there because they make my life easy and I always knew they would take care of me. I shop so much that I'm an ICON card holder. However, I was at Nordstrom Rack across from South Coast Plaza yesterday and it was the third time they refused to even exchange an item that had all the tags on it & had obviously never been worn (the manager admitted that). I was about to buy a couple hundred dollars worth of items and I wanted to exchange a pair of brand new pants purchased a few months ago because my son grew and as the weather just got cold, he was about to wear them for the first time. The manager wouldn't do anything for me and I'm just fed up with the horrible service there. Not only did they lose a pretty big new sale over not exchanging a pair of $20 pants, but they have lost me forever. My daughter was with me and instead of passing on the virtual batton (my mother introduced me to Nordstrom's when I was a teenager), I told my daughter that "we" will never shop there again. I've always looked at Nordstrom Rack as my personal hell. I don't like to shop for clothes, ever. It's the sort of thing that gives me an instant headache because I never know what to buy. Recently, however, my dad insisted I check them out to buy a suit. I was convinced they wouldn't have anything, or the price wouldn't be right, or they wouldn't have a tailor. And I was wrong on every count. It took about four minutes for me to find a sharp black Calvin Klein suit, marked down to $300 from $500. I needed to get my exact sizing, though, and luckily they do have a tailor on site. He spent about two minutes sizing me up before picking out the right size jacket, dress shirt, and making alteration marks to have the neck taken in and the pants adjusted. Over in the shoe department, I found a killer pair of double monkstrap Italian dress shoes for $200, marked down from $315. If I had any complaints, they would all be regarding the lines here. Paying is a lengthy wait, and these employees seem to ring everyone up very slowly. I waited for longer than it took me to pick out all my clothes. My suit was ready for pickup within a few days. The alterations were all done seamlessly and the suit fit perfect. I can complain about having to shop for clothes, but I can't complain about the ease in doing that here. read more

I came in looking for one light blue suit. One of the sales people helped me pull a suit from the rack, which was at full price... In the middle of a 25% red tag sale. Not wanting to spend a grand on a suit, from an outlet store, during a sale event, I asked the sales person for an alternative... They just pointed their finger and said 'you can find cheaper stuff there.' Rude!!! But, on a mission, I did just that. After thirty minutes, I asked one of the guys stalking the racks for help finding a size or something generic just wanting assistance. The guy was brilliant!!! He went so above and beyond his job. Helped me with the exact style, cuts, colors, took me to the fitting room, brought different sizes, everything! And he knew his stuff including my objective. At one point when I realized that I was saving three quarters what I was going to spend, I said "Well, I need a new black suit too..." He said "I'll be right back." A few minutes later he walked up with a beautiful black CK slim cut suit. We went to the fitting room, and it was perfection. Jokingly he said "And this is only two hundred and blah dollars." Oh hell yeah!!! At the end of it all, I got a beautiful blue Hilfiger three piece, a solid black slim CK, a belt, a few shirts, everything was less than the original suit that was handed to me, and they even look better because of the care in fitting and alterations. Nordstroms had better take care of Timmy. In absolute sincerity, he knew his stuff, wasn't stuffy or arrogant like the regular Nordstroms employees and he was just a cool pleasant guy. I am one of those people who gets an anxiety attack in Wal-Mart. The crowds of people. The stuff. The deals. It's all too much for my delicate sensibilities, and, before I know it, I am breathing into a paper bag. A trip to the Rack is much like a trip to Wal-Mart for me. The crowds of people. The stuff. The deals. Sometimes it is more than I can handle, and I have a mini-freak out in the middle of off-price tops from Savvy. Unlike Wal-Mart, though, it is totally worth it. I have two conflicting desires. One is to pay as little as possible for the things I want. The other is Rock and Republic denim. On one hand, I am a cheap ass. On the other hand, Rock and Republic jeans (which retail for somewhere around $200) are so longggggggg (I'm 6'0", yo), and the denim is so soffffffft, and the pockets are so cuttttttteeeee. I have to have them. I can find them for around half price at the Rack, which makes this cheap-ass label whore a happy girl. The tip for avoiding those anxiety attacks is to go on a weeknight. They get their shipments during the week, so the selection is better. Plus, it's less crowded, so you don't have to search for your beloved designer jeans through piles on the floor, or fight off over-eager jeans stealers when you put them down for a second to tie your shoe. This location is unparallelled for Men's shoes. HUGE selection of both casual, and dress shoes at fantastic prices. And you get to dig through them in search of treasure! This is the place to come if you need a new pair of work shoes at any price range. This location also has a huge jeans selection for Men, though you are going to be paying ~$100 for designer jeans, which is still pretty good compared to retail. You can also nab some Ben Sherman shirts, and some other notables at good prices if you peep their clearance racks. Even though this place gets slammed, they still keep the lines moving quite fast. This place does not blow my mind in terms of prices, but overall I am a fan of this location! 4 Stars. read more

I am an Official Shopaholic. I like Stuff. No doubt this is a result of a modest childhood and early adulthood that consisted of Basics. Sparsity. Exiguousness. I finally have a little lettuce in my pocket and I like to treat myself, but still do so by way of The Hunt. A Bargain. (It fills my heart with glee.) When I decide I want to make a purchase at The Rack, I have to prepare myself for a 3-4 hour jaunt of rack-scouring cause ya just neva, neva know what you might find. I scored a par of Nanette Lepore shoes for fifty bucks at the Rack in Long Beach. Huzzah! That was an awesome day. My favorite Rack, however, asides from the one I adorn (looks down) is in Costa Mesa. It's a frikkin Shopper's Delight. Sure, the racks can become unruly - that's why I always visit at 10:30am when it opens. (There can be a steady herd of shoppers eager to get in even at that time, but it isn't nearly as chaotic as mid-day/early evening. As soon as the smiling sales clerk on the other side of the glass door inserts key - CLICK - we all walk towards the entrance... Consumerist Zombies, in search of the Next Best Thing (of the day). I scored a pair of Dior sunglasses, with case and cleaning cloth for $80. Hell to the yes. That was a happy day. Juicy Couture sweats for $50. Betsey Johnson shoes for $65. Me likey. I buy my man's Ben Sherman shirts here for 50% less than retail. He looks sharp and my bank acct barely notices the ding. As long as I check off (and out) before I go it is sure to be a fabulous day of shopping. Love. read more

I like how they have a wide variety of shoes to choose from, but the prices are okay. In my opinion, Nordstrom/Nordstrom Rack doesn't have the best sales. If you want real discounts from designer clothing/shoes, head on over to Saks. Rating for TAILOR ONLY. I had three items tailored, one pair of jeans and dress shirts from another store. The hem that was done on my diesel jeans did not use the original fabric, so it looks wack and essentially ruins the $200 pair. The two dress shirts cost $34 each just to bring in the sides, total ripoff. And they fit so ridiculously tight now I look like a Ryan Seacrest impersonator. Thanks Nordstrom Rack, I will stick to my local Asian lady in the strip mall by my house from now on. read more

Metro Pointe at South Coast has a pretty nice Rack, but it's really hit or miss. I either go in and spend lots of time narrowing down what I'm gonna get (cuz I can't buy everything I want), or I just hit it and quit it because their selection isn't good on that particular day. It's been awhile since I've picked up any casual clothing here, as I'm not a fan of most of what they have. So, it's all business attire for me. Sometimes I go to the Nordstrom and Macy's at South Cost Plaza first, just to get a sense of what they have and how expensive it is. Then I leave and come here, often buying similar items. I get quality Hugo Boss, English Laundry, and Ben Sherman dress shirts, ranging from $30 to about $60. I also pick up a lot of skinny or medium width ties for less than $20, that retail for about $55. The one thing I don't buy much of are the dress pants, I don't know why but it seems they're still $65 to $90 when discounted down here. That being said, of the perhaps 7 Racks I've been to this one ranks in the top 2. It's just that sometimes they literally don't have one thing I'm interested in, and those usually tend to be the days I go in ready to spend big time. The days I go in with a conservative budget just happen to be the days they have everything and then some. read more

A man reviewing Nordstrom's Rack? Yes. Love this place. I worked at Nordstrom's for 2 years (not the rack, the one in MIssion Viejo Mall) and if I learned anything, it's that you can buy the same quality of clothes at the Rack for half the price. If you're willing to sift through some racks and dig through tables stacked with jeans or dress shirts sitting on a table with the sizes mixed up in exchange for saving 50% then this is your place. I got Lucky jeans for $40 (usually $90-$100), Mavi jeans for $35 (usually $65), dress shirts for $30/each that are sold for as high as $100 as Nordstroms. I got a jacket for $120 marked down from $350. :) It's also a great place for dress shoes, I've gotten several pair for $40-$50 marked down from $180-$200. There are a ton of other reasons why they end up here, it doesn't mean they're out of fashion. 1. ordered too late in the season so shipped out to make room 2. returned after the product was no longer on the floor, possibly because it didn't fit the original person, or they preferred cash back, et. 3. Employee hid it off the floor and ended up not buying 4. Alteration but never got picked up, yes that happens. Regardless, check this place out if you need any quality nice clothes on the cheap. The Rack Metro Pointe and the Nordstrom Irvine Spectrum are dog-friendly places. Some customers might not be, but I'd like to think they were a cat in their past life. Given that I already did a yelp review for the Spectrum, the Metro Pointe warrants some praises from my recent venture. While I was post-Christmas shopping with my husky, Herbert, he started to feel unwell. We quickly exited the store with no purchases in hand, and 5 feet from the door he did some damage. As I was taking out the doggie bag and also figuring how to pick up the wet mess, I heard a voice requesting clean up. I looked up to a gentlemen with a hipster tie, letting us know to not worry about it. Ladies around me were reassuring that I did not need apologize because when he has to go, he has to go. Wow. I did not need to be a paying customer for them to rush to aid and that was nice, and very understanding patrons. I'll be here again to find more deals. MY GUILT PLEASURE reasonable, cheap prices. This Nordstrom Rack is slightly better organized in the shoe department, plus! It really is a hit or miss, so you have to check it out yourself, but just an example to get you motivated. I was at the Nordstrom anniversary sale across the street, and found this perfect Marc Jacobs aviators (marked down to 60$, which I thought was a great find..right?)...wrong! I had an additional half an hour to kill and wandered to Nordstrom Rack. I found Michael Kors aviators that actually ended up looking better on me anyway for righta bout $20!...$20!!!! I love shopping here in store & online equally. Everyone knows the Rack is cheaper than its department store source across the street at the mall. And yes it is cheaper...it's not the cheapest, but it is more affordable considering the brand names that they sell. A tip if it's your first time making a purchase online, sign up with your email first & you'll get a code that takes $25 off your first online purchase of $125 or more. That kind of deal is actually pretty common with shops that have store locations. And free shipping on purchases over $100. Famous for shoes of all sizes...as small as size 4, to as big as 14...both in store & online. Normally at most places you can only find the really small & really big sizes on the website. But thankfully I'm able to have a good selection available in store for my smaller than average size. Which is great for those of us who prefer to try things on before buying. And luckily their return policy is really easy. Whether you ordered online, or shopped at one of their locations, you can make a return at the store within 45 days...you just need the receipt, or order number. You don't even need the card that you used. The refund is automatically processed. Nothing to sign either...they just print out the refund receipt & you're good to go. This nordstrom rack is too messy and crowded. There may be some hidden gems in the sales racks, but the lines are ridiculous. Its like waiting for a roller coaster at Magic Mountain. I thought the selection was ok. I usually buy upper middle brands when I go to nordstrom rack such as John Nordstrom dress shirts and wool slacks on sale but not ridiculously expensive "couture" type stuff ( since I am poor!) However, they did have a lot of fancy expensive stuff which was cheaper here than at the regular Nordstrom. If you are into haute couture then come here, but be prepared for ridiculously long waits and slow service. I have yet to find a Nordstrom Rack that stands up to the one in Chino Hills. So far this is my Nordstrom Rack ranking in the OC area. # 1 Chino Hills location - The standard bearer in selection, price and great sales. #2 Brea location- Good sales, pretty good selection and great clearance rack for bath/body products such as candles/body washes. Also great for mens shoes and my sister said womens shoes, too! # 3 Costa Mesa location (this store!) , it is too crowded, too messy and everyone thinks "ooh ahh! its near south coast plaza so it must have the best sales stuff and selection" but it really doesn't. I know Chino Hills may not be epicenter of Haute Couture, but its a stones throw from Orange County, and I got 2 dress shirts by John. W. Nordstrom for 19 bucks each! My boyfriend gets mad EVERY TIME we come here cause he thinks it is SO unfair that the guy stuff is in the back! Yeah it sucks, but the main shoppers are usually the woman. Anyway, the best part of this shopping trip this past Saturday was that I found JEANS! Its hard for me to find jeans. I am kinda picky. And short! I also discovered that the Rack has alterations on site! Just like Nordstrom.. it's not free but it's worth saving a trip to the tailor. The gentlemen were friendly in the tailors. For the uninitiated, Nordstrom Rack is where Nordstrom dumps their "out-of-date" or unsold merchandise and sells it at ridiculous discounts. This place is amazing, but it is dangerous. The shoes suck me in and I have problems getting back out in any sort of reasonable time (or with money in my wallet). "This pair of shoes is $60, but it was originally $300!?!?!" These are the types of things that come out of my mouth in an effort to convince my brain that I should buy 7 pairs of shoes at once. After the shoes, I try to walk to the cash register. But I can't! I get pulled into the vast forest of dresses, jackets, and shirts. Hours later, a bouquet of apparel is draped over my arms as I make a run for the registers. But the jewelry is such a great deal here! May as well check that out too... ....some undisclosed amount of money later I emerge from Nordstrom Rack. Weary, drained of both energy and money, I bask in the glow of knowing what a good deal I got. Hey, grad students have to be fashionable too...right? TIP: Try to go on the weekdays, this place is out of control on the weekends! Also, if you want to find the good stuff, be prepared to spend AT LEAST 3 hours here. read more

Very rude staff. I called and was transferred 4 times, each time being told someone would help me with my question. On the 4th person a lady picked up and when I explained what had happened she refused to help me or answer any of my questions. Literally zero customer service, what a waste of time. I ended up buying the item from sunandski instead, much better customer service there. read more

If I could have only two stores in this world, one be Costco and the other would be Nordstrom Rack. This place is huge and full of more clothing than any one person can handle shopping. None the less, you can always find something here you either need or want. The pricing is always great, add in a clearance rack and you've found shopper paradise. Having 3 kids who need clothing, this place saves me soooo much cash. $7 hurley shirts or quicksilver. $15 dresses for my little cutie. Come on, why don't more people shop here? Be prepared to have to dig for the most part. There are a lot of items here for sale. If you're not in the mood to shop, stay away. Thanks Nordies!!! read more
