Aweful experience. We had about 20 items ready to try on and when we went to the dressing room they were all taken away. We had to ask two people to look for our items and they didn't come back for 5 minutes, we had to confront them and they never found our items. I love shopping at Nordstroms and usually have a great experience but this time at the downtown location it was just terrible and they seemed as if they could care less about whether we shopped there or not. read more

Set me free in this store with 20k and I won't be finished shopping. I frequent The Rail-- men's apparel. They got it all when it comes to jeans... Rock and Republic, Diesel, and True Religion. They also carry zexy Diesel undies, which I am currently addicted to. The sales staff is mostly HOT professional women. They are very complimentary, and sometimes suggestive in a flirty way. I asked the beautiful Summer for a mirror whilst trying on a new fedora, and she replied, "We have a three-way in back." I seriously had to hold my tongue-- God bless her. Now guys I know most of us don't like shopping, but The Rail at Nordy's is purely enjoyable, and the clothing will get you laid. read more

Not finding any sandals nor shoes of interest, I trotted over to cosmetic looking for a particular shade of eyeliner. I was treated not so good at the mac counter by the Male employee there. Has jet black hair and wore LASHES on Saturday evenig.He Was wearing fake lashes at the time. I asked if he could put lashes on me after I bought them. After 25 min of him trying . I couldn't take it. He took my upper eye lid and was hurting it and stretching it. The review is for the tailor service from the men's suite department. In a word, they are snobbish, impatience, and lack of confidence. I made a phone call with them before I went to the store, and asking about whether they accept alteration service for Armani suites that bought from other places rather than Nordstrom. They said: "Yes, definitely! But it is a charged service" . I said: "Sure, I values the in-store tailors, and talked about the problems of my suite". They suggested me to take the suite, and bring it to the store to do the inspection. Once I arrived the store, and find the tailor service located at the men's suite department. The first sales representative I met was a 50 years old men, and asked me what I need. I replied: alteration service. He said: "Did you buy the suite from our store", I said: "No", and then he reluctantly show me the tailor's office. I then met the lady around 50s, and she feels immediately nervous, and unwillingness since I did not buy the suite from Nordstrom. Fortunately, there is another lady around 40s, who is more comfortable to talk. She asked me wear on the suite in the fitting room. After that she lady around 40s start to talk to me. "Your know, this suite is obviously not a fit for you. Do you want to keep this suite or not?" I said, "I tried many suites, and this size is the best to fit my shoulders though a little bit large at the waist. I am going to keep it". Then she said: "OK, we are not going to do the alteration for you, since you did not buy the suite from Nordstrom, we have no way to guarantee the service satisfaction with alteration service, you can buy suite from bargain store, and we may have no way satisfy customer expectation, balah...". I feel so annoyed regarding their attitude, since this suite was bought from Armani store, and the representatives obviously show their unwillingness on their face. Also, I feel that they are incapable of doing things, and lack of confidence (This is because I went to a fine tailoring store from Yelp with good review, and i asked to wear on the suite, and she marked the size for me. Ok, just to clear it up- although this is the Nordstrom's flagship store, this is NOT THE ORIGINAL STORE! The space that Nordstrom downtown occupies is the former Frederick and Nelson's. Nordstrom's original location was where the Sephora and Coldwater Creek are now at. I love the fragrances, the make-up, the SHOES, the bras- and at that point, my picks vary. Sometimes Savvy has cute things, sometimes the purses catch my eye, sometimes I can find cute dresses in various departments. But, like many reviewers mentioned, the sales folks can be pushy. Despite that aspect of their service, I have had few negative shopping experiences here and I have been shopping here for 17 years, at least. A lot of the stuff is overpriced but the sales racks fail to disappoint. I splurge once a year at the August sale, and that is when I max out my- I mean, when I frugally pick out a few items and pay with cash only, ahem. Best part about this place is the bras. They are the only place that has sized me right (the other place that sized me was V.S.) and not only that, they carried my size when I was a 32D. I love the sales 'rack' and they always seem to have great name brands for cheap in my size. They also have a full range of spanx, body shapers, bust enhancers, washing and garment care products, garters, nylons, and sexy lingerie. read more

I knew I wanted to go to this Nordstrom since I started planning my vacation. Luckily I was staying at the Motif hotel so I was able to walk on over. OH MY GAWD its HUGE!!! Literally if you've ever seen an item or section that you like at Nordstrom they have it at this location. The biggest BP, Savvy and Topshop area I've ever seen in my life. Not to mention the cosmetics department was like walking into the gates of heaven. Go now. Bring money. Lots of it. You will want to buy everything!! read more

This is actually a review of the online experience rather than this one location. I just can't find a listing for Nordstrom.com. I've been a big fan of Nordstrom for the convenience. I like high-end perfectly tailored clothes, but I'm a bargain-hunter. I want the best bang for my buck. I also want convenience. I want a pleasant, easy and fast shopping experience. For years Nordstrom gave me all of that and more. The reason I'm giving 1 star isn't because they're really awful now, but they have dropped so far from what they were, that I don't feel like shopping there anymore. I used to spend a lot more there than I normally would have because I didn't have to haunt sales and second-guess my purchases. If I saw something I liked I just bought it. Several times their wonderful return policy meant that if I noticed something I bought went on sale I could get the cheaper price, even over a month later. That really gave me the confidence to just buy whatever I wanted. I didn't always bother to check for sales, but I knew that if something was really outside what I wanted to spend I didn't have to wait to see if it went on sale. I could just buy it when I saw it. This last Christmas changed my perception of the whole chain. I bought a beautiful and very expensive silk robe from the San Francisco store while visiting. I came back home to Seattle after the holidays, and found out it had gone on sale. I didn't have time to go into a store, so decided to email the customer service line. They told me they could adjust the price if it was placed in the last two weeks. Since it was longer than that since I bought it, I was told I needed to call the location I bought it from and ask them if they'd give me the discount. They were very polite about it, but I would have to make time for a phone call with a different person, and may or may not get the sale price out of it. All in all I'm very disappointed. I'm sure many stores will still be wonderful. Some sales people will be more interested and empowered to help; but I'm no longer confident I'm going to get that same great experience everywhere. I'm sure I'll buy something from Nordstrom's again, but it will now be my last choice instead of my first, and I'll probably drop my credit card account at some point as well. read more

my experiences in the shoe department is always nice. staff is helpful, prompt, and returns have always been pleasant as i expect that here. almost all of my frustrating experiences have occurred elsewhere but ESPECIALLY in the beauty department. i don't know what's up w/ the associates but it's like they're trained to look you up and down, be snotty, condescending, and/or ignore you completely. you have to 'look the part' to get service and often it is with such holier than thou attitude. i'd say the MAC counter is the only beauty counter where i feel most at ease and free to browse without being judged. i'll never forget the experience of going to the men's section with my friend who had just gotten out of basketball practice so she was wearing her raggedy shorts and sneakers and not ONE sales associate who walked past us greeted us, acknowledged us, made eye contact or ANYTHING. usually even the snobbiest of trolls will at least look my way, but not that day. not while i was with my friend who i guess in their eyes looked 'out of place.' it was blatant and rude. keep in my mind we were there to spend big, as she mostly wears men's clothing, but alas. as someone who works in customer service that's just not how you do business. anyways, i still come here, but over the years the service is definitely spotty and i try not to go in when i'm not looking my best. i already know i'll be overlooked. read more

This review is for the online customer service dept. not the actual store. They instructed me to send my package back to them using a free return shipping label so that I could receive a refund via gift card. To make a long story short they LOST MY PACKAGE & when I called to follow up & let them know I hadn't received my gift card after several months they sent me a $50.00 gift card as a "courtesy". So I take a loss of 245.00 & the multi million dollar company pockets the 245.00 when they were wrong? Never shopping with this company again. read more

As an Icon member I treated myself to a facial and mani/pedi today. Mary and Cam were both incredible! Mary recommended that I add a peel after analyzing my skin which I agreed and the results were great! Cam took her time and was very detailed oriented which I loved. Had a wonderful conversation throughout my service with her. Having been in retail/customer service for over 25 years... I truly appreciate great people who are fantastic in what they do! read more

I have a complaint! Granted in the scheme of things it is minor, small, not even worrisome... it is more of a gripe. Nordstroms has decided to save a dime by getting rid of their classic boxes and they are now using a one piece folding nightmare. That Nordies box was one thing I counted on. You could still get excited about socks if they came in a Nordstrom box. I know this is fluff but it is a constant that has changed. One more sign of the times. read more

Totally not about their merchandise... I left something in the women's restroom this past weekend and when my boyfriend went searching for my little pouch by asking a random employee, she knew immediately what he was talking about and retrieved the pouch from their storage. Whatever going on behind the scenes is incredible. I mean, there must be great communication for that to have happened. And thank you to the stranger that picked up the pouch and brought it to an employee there.. Keep up the good customer service Nordstrom! read more

Very disappointed with nordstrom lately, especially at this location (seattle ). I sent my boyfriend here to pick up a pair of valentino flats that my sister ordered for me. The sales ass seems like she is on her menstrual cycle or something and didn't want to help him. She answered with an attitude and without an ounce of kindness ...(like is she mad because she's not getting commission on an online order, or what). I don't know, it seems like they lost their customer service and on top of that I noticed that they would only approach you if you look rich, or well dressed with high end fashion... kind of sad if that's how these sale ass are trained. I had a great experience with one of the Bobbi Brown staff. The next time I returned, I was hoping Kaylee was available again. However an 18 year old did my makeover instead. I am a professional and purchase high quality things that last. This was a treat for me that I had been looking forward to. They were short staffed that day and didn't know who was going to do the makeover. The young girl said repeatedly "This looks really pretty on you." so many times that it was uncomfortable and awkward. She poked me in the eye with the eyeliner. She said products were out of stock and she would mail them to me. She did not. I called to follow up and report my experience and the individual I spoke with said she would be fired if she offered a discount or a free product. I had the sense that she felt i was fishing for some kind of free thing for the sake of getting something free. I sent an email and it was returned by a supervisor who apologized and said she would mail a product to me. When a couple weeks passed without receiving anything, I contacted them again and they shipped it out. Seriously Nordstrom: walk the walk and talk the talk. You should know how to solve a situation like this. read more

Please be gentle on me, fellow shoppers. Valentine's Day was the first time I stepped foot into this Nordstrom. I have been to many but have never been into the Downtown one. Walking in...OMG...I was like a police officer in a donut shop. It definitely was love at first sight. I was with my hubby, but I felt like I was committing adultery with Nordstrom. This particular location is absolutely wonderful. I think the staff here are a lot more friendlier and not snooty at all. For all my high end girls out there, Gucci, Dolce, Chanel and more are here waiting for you. I am not going to re-repeat everyone else's compliments or gestures, but will say I am going to give them a 4 star because coming here to shop often will cause this girls financial wind fall! Nordstrom attains the rare five star rating from me. What can I say, they do it right all of the time. It's truly a member of the family. So many lifetime memories, just walking in the place evokes happiness in me. The best part about Nordstrom is it just keeps getting better and better. There is a reason some chains succeed- they are just so damn good. Nordstrom is one of them. It's one of the few great things Seattle residents actually own and for that reason alone I embrace Nordstrom in one big hug along with a nice big kiss on the cheek like the kind a lady who lunches gives after the meal when she's had too many drinks. Stats say that some 80%+ women are wearing the wrong bra size. Get yourself fitted. Wai is a pro and your time spent with her is well-worth it. I spent 30 minutes trying on bras and was completely off on my bra size- 2 whole sizes down and up to a different letter. Never would have thunk it. While it was odd that Wai stands there while you put on her suggested bra, she's seeing whether you put on a bra correctly and gaging other important factors. Once you get over the initial awkwardness, she'll quickly help you figure out the correct fit and style. Never knew I was a Frenchie. Wai will do that for ya. Pick up one or two bras here because the fit will certainly change how the girls set up underneath your shirts. Then raid Nordstrom Rack for any left over from last season. Once you've got your brand, bra-style and size, you are golden. read more

Tony in Women's Fragrance My favorite, everyday perfume was recently stolen. It was an irreplaceable scent I bought while traveling in Spain a few years ago and it broke my heart when I realized it was gone. I decided to try the Nordstrom's fragrance department to see if I could find something similar. Tony was excited by the challenge of trying to help me find something I liked. He asked me a few questions about the scent I lost and then brough over two or three bottles for me to smell samples of. As I pointed out ones I liked and ones I didn't like, he continued to pull samples that were similar to the scents I liked until we found something so perfect. I have never before enjoyed such personal, detail-oriented and patient service--even at Nordstrom. I left that evening practically skipping--I was so pleased with Tony's help and with the scent. I get nothing but compliments on the perfume--the best being when my sister told me that it smells just like me. I would send everyone looking for something new, or a signature scent to seek out Tony--he will toil until he finds exactly what you didn't even know that you couldn't live without until you wear it. read more

It has a great selection of designer wear, not-so-designer wear for more modest incomes, excellent customer service, great sale racks, and a classy, ambient shopping environment. I love Nordstroms and even though this one has the allure of being the flagship store, it's not my favorite. Not because it doesn't have AMAZING products from the shoes, to the purses, to the make up, to the clothes, oh my! It's more the employees who work here. You can cut the "snooty" tension in the air with a butter knife when you walk in. I get it. This store houses some of the costly things but I really don't appreciate being treated so poorly for no reason what so ever. So what if I am in jeans, flip flops and a hoodie. Little do you know, Nordstroms girl in towering 7 inch heels and to much make up, I have a Nordstroms credit card and I love to spend. But now I wont because I really don't like the idea of you getting any commission of my shopping binge. So on I go... Other than that though, I love this place. The product is to die for, it's always clean and beyond just "presentable". And it is an icon in Seattle. The building is gorgeous and it's right in the middle of all the best stuff the city has to offer. Still worth going to! Just hold your chin up high! read more

I would have given this Nordstrom 5 stars (like I did with Bellevue's) if it weren't for their complete unwillingness to help me with my sunglass repair at the Chanel boutique AND in the sunglasses department. I finally met a lady in Vegas' Nordstrom to help me. Yes, I had to go to another state to get help on how to ship my sunglasses in. The pro's about this place is that it has the best selection and since its flagship, they have good events. I have been here to meet Nicole Richie, Jason Wu and Monique Luhllier (sp?). I have also been helped by a personal shopper and been in their wedding boutique. The personal shopper helped us find great bridesmaids dresses. Also, Nordstrom generally has great customer service, in-store pickup from online shopping and a great return policy. All have been helpful many times. The cons (in addition my poor service that time) are that there is no parking which is to be expected for downtown and they have the pushiest customer service of all the stores. read more

Ok, so we all agree that Nordstrom is a historical icon here in Seattle, therefore we must shop there - and I mean must. Hey, I have spent my fair share of hard earned cash on a whole range of products from this store. Now I don't mind the downtown store, I much prefer online shopping, though I have complaints about their shoe department service - it is horrendous. Last time I shopped during a sale I was actually given a ticket when I sought assistance from a sales rep! A ticket! This little red ticket, much like the ones you would get a the butcher, was supposed to be my saving grace, redeemable for a costly pair of shoes. How dreadfully tacky! Ok, now tackiness aside they do have a great selection of merchandise and I have always been met with wonderful service from everyone - except the shoe department. Just a tip for those Nordstrom marketing executives, you could do well to get rid of the horrible lines like St.John. Arrgh... so old person-ish. But Angelina Jolie seems to be bringing some classic pazazz to the line, so maybe those smart executives expect the rest of us to catch on? Hey, it is definitely worth shopping at Nordstrom for the wonderful ladies restrooms - they are certainly all that and more, and don't you deserve to defecate in style (excuse my french). Now, I could go into the whole comparison between Nordstrom and Macys, but why would I bother. Have you heard that saying about chalk and cheese?
