I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Nordstrom yesterday located at:346 W. Hilcrest Dr. Thousand Oaks.specifically due to the rude behavior of the manager, named Marilyn DeFries.I went to the store to return an online order, expecting the usual high standard of customer service that Nordstrom is known for. Instead, I was met with unprofessionalism and outright rudeness. The manager, Marylin DeFries was dismissive from the start. She did not even take the time to listen to my concerns or look at my order details properly. When I explained that I wanted to return an online order, she bluntly told me that it couldn't be done in-store, despite the website stating otherwise. Her tone was condescending and unhelpful, making me feel like my issue was not important. This experience was painful and frustrating. I have been a loyal Nordstrom customer for years, but this incident has made me seriously reconsider shopping here again. A manager is supposed to set the standard for customer service, but this one failed miserably. I hope Nordstrom takes steps to ensure their staff, especially those in managerial positions, treat customers with the respect and assistance they deserve. Marilyn DeFries, is the worst manager I have ever dealt with. She did not want to return the items back. She just kept excusing about the items not returning back. I absolutely love shopping at Nordstrom because I know they really value their customers and can be trusted to stand behind their products. Service can be spotty but a huge shout out to Carmen in shoes who is a friendly and dependable manager who goes the extra mile. I believe they carry some really great brands and products and they have something for every budget. This store is much smaller than topanga and seems to be under renovation a lot. Super helpful employees and nice store layout. I'll be honest, I don't shop here often and when I do go to Nordy's, the Topanga location gets my attention. The clothing selections here are limited and seems like certain brands are missing. The shoe department has a nice selection of footwear, although the prices are a little high. On positive, this department store stands behind their products. Parking here is easy, either covered garage or open lot. read more

This Nordstrom is teeny-tiny when compared to other Nordstrom stores in So Cal. It does not have some of the higher end brands (especially in shoes&accessories) as a result of it's size. I have had especially good experience with the staff in the lingerie department. Their makeup department is probably their weakest. I made an appointment once with a makeup artist online and she was over 30 min late. I wanted to use her over a rep at a makeup counter so that I would not be limited to only using one brand. More recently I tried to get assistance with choosing an eyeliner and the lady accidentally showed me eyebrow pencils. It seems like they might have a lot of seasonal people who have no idea about the products. I appreciate that the added a customer service table on the first floor near the escalator. This makes returns super easy. I returned one of my Nordstrom Trunk boxes here and it was a breeze. read more

I came in on a Tuesday for some alterations on some Rag&Bone pants I purchased. I waited in line for a bit which was fine and then was met with my alterations person. Lorena or Loreta was her name and she was super polite and helpful. She made quick work of the alteration preparations and was friendly to me and my little dog I brought with me. I next met Emily and Michelle who helped me ring up the alterations charge. I didn't have my Nordstroms card so they helped me look it up. They were both so friendly and personable it made me want to shop here again. I typically do not shop at this location due to lack of selection but I will continue to come here for services due to the friendliness and helpfulness. Thanks Emily, Michelle and Lorena! read more

There were three people behind the counter all chatting with each other and nobody bothered to stop to ask me if they could help me with anything. Horrible service Tried to come eat at their restaurant. Apparently they closed while we are walking to restaurant. They told us we could exit through the bottom stairs into the mall but they locked that door also. After walking around the store for 10 minutes trying to find a door, Left us having to walk miles through the parking lot with a disabled person. We have been disappointed in Nordstrom for the last few years. They appear to discontinue categories and items we were accustomed to purchasing in the past. They quit carrying Womens plus size apparel in spite of an obvious need in the Conejo Valley. Their Clinique assortment is so limited we can never find what all that is needed. The sales person told us the various Clinique items are discontinued and no longer in production. However, when we go to the Clinique website we're able to find all that is needed. Training of your associates is badly needed. Service is no longer what Nordstrom had famously developed. read more

Really disappointing experience today at the Nordstrom closest to my house. Debated on going to Topanga and I regret not going there instead, better customer service there and they don't try to gaslight you when you tell them when and where you bought an item. Also made me feel like I was imagining that something was wrong with the item (it was bent). I won't be returning to this location. FYI--if you buy something at a Bony Levy trunk show, the proof of purchase will not be saved in your nordy app, so save the physical receipt or tag to return. I recently visited nordstrom in thousand oaks. Mind you I have been shopping there for over 30 years. I am a nordy! I hate saying this but I am hoping this can be used as an opportunity. I walked into Nordstroms children's department and Megan P immediately asked if she could help. I love Nordstrom. So why the 1 star? Because I have to break up the love affair. It's based on one thing and one thing alone. TO Nordstrom broke my trust and affection . . . with their return policy. Quite simply, I was unhappy with the fit with shapewear that I got on sale. I wanted to exhange for similar shapewear (same brand). In the past, I was able to get the sale price when exchanging a similar item, but not this time. The clerk went to the manager to see if it was possible when I expressed how I had just two weeks ago done this. The answer was no. Note, same brand, similar style. I returned the items. Price difference was just a few dollars and if it HADN'T been Nordstrom, I might have even paid. But this is Nordstrom. Nordstrom is THE leader in customer service. Bad decision lingerie manager. Nordstroms in general is great but the lady who was working the fragrance section today 5/8/23 was a real c u next Tuesday. She was incredibly unpleasant. I was with my family trying to find a nice perfume for Mother's Day in the 300s range but she was so incredibly rude and lacked customer professionalism that i chose to leave instead. She refused to give me her name and told me I was confused and shouldn't file a complaint because "she did nothing wrong" had to talk to 2 managers to finally get her name. Great price matching and return policy! I have been coming to this Nordstrom for 4 years and overall it has been pleasurable in every visit. The store does not carry extensive brands but it has been expanding its offerings. My favorites are Joie, Paige/Hudson jeans, DVF and Burberry Brit. While the store has good offering, I would recommend checking online prices/color choices before actually buying in store. Nordstrom has a very good price matching policy and I am able to get the best prices by showing the cashier competitors' pricing over my cell phones. Also, unlike SAKS/Neiman that have 30/60 days return policy, Nordstrom has the most generous return policy without set deadline. You can return any item that does match your quality/sizing/garment care expectation by bringing it to the store, even though you have worn the item a couple of times. That being said, one should use this policy in good faith and not abuse it as it may go away under heavy abuse. In addition, Nordstrom offers free alteration and it is most helpful when you are getting your new jeans shortened. Overall, a nice anchor store at the Oaks Mall and I highly recommend! read more

Allie (Alexandra K.) in Active is amazing! She was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the products. I've been struggling to find the right leggings and tops for pilates. Lululemon has not seemed to work for me. Allie helped describe the lines that Active carries and which is best suited for my workouts and material I'm looking for. She checked on me in the dressing room and assisted with finding different sizes. I love Nordstrom's and shop here often, however I had to write a review specifically with Allie's name because she deserves recognition for her positive demeanor and really displays the culture of Nordstrom's. I ordered a pair of leggings online. Upon opening the plastic bag the leggings came in was not sealed, I thought that was odd. As I was holding the leggings up to me I noticed dry skin on the waistband, I turned the leggings inside out to found dry skin all over , disgusting! I was there Saturday November 12 around 7pm went to pick up my online order, walked around awhile since nobody bothered to help me and I finally found the pick-up area. I waited in line for about 1 minite or 2 and this older lady that was working the register was helping another customer giving her great customer service and being really nice to her but then I come along and everything changes. She saw me and with a rude tone of voice said, "can I help you"? So I ignored her because I didn't like the tone of voice she used. She asked again if she can help with the same tone so I looked at her and used a rude tone as well and said Pick-up! I don't shop and Nordstrom and been my first time in years since I was there and this what happens? Maybe because I'm Hispanic and she can use that tone on me? She's lucky I didn't make a seen and go off on her!! You need to put your employees on check Nordstrom and retrain your employees!! Who is she to to tell me that crap huh? She's ain't nobody and certainly not better then me! No I know why you guys have bad reviews especially in customer service area!! They market them self as good service and( this is why you pay extra )but this was not our experience. We spent more than a half an hour in the registry "as the employer was not able to find the item in the system" Then she grabbed the manager to locate it and she finally did it and ran away !! l, Then we had to face that "they don't have a box this item" , Which took another 15 minutes to find a box ,Lots of inconvenience And not what to expect from an overpriced store like this. I had a previous post that was not so favorable for this location but boy can I tell you they have absolutely redeemed themselves. I went in a week ago to exchange some shoes and was assisted by Rob in women's shoes. He is by far the best sales consultant I have ever met in a Nordstrom store. He was extremely helpful and made me feel better about spending $1000 on one pair of shoes LOL. He's been in touch since and has helped me with other things as well. I shopped at this Norstrom's before and left a yelp review with one star because I didn't feel like I was treated properly but they have definitely redeemed themselves with Rob. I manage a few car dealers so I deal with consumers all of the time and Rob has definitely exceeded my expectations of great customer service. I went to the children's shoe department today to purchase shoes for my child who needs different sized shoes. They have a wonderful policy which accommodates children with this special need. The sales representatives do not always know of this policy and I was able to speak with the assistant manager, Carmen, who was happy to help us get shoes. I had to leave a review as I feel what I experienced is a health & safety issue. I went in to get a sample of a foundation and the gentleman that worked there offered to color match. I took my mask off briefly ( especially since he said, " you know you can have masks off now ) with my head turned away from so my cheek was facing him. He has no mask on and sounded congested as he couldn't breath through his nose. He was breathing heavily on me due to that. I mean deep breaths right in my face. I feel it was not only inconsiderate especially if you have symptoms of congestion or he ate majorly spicy food but it is against Covid policies in their stores to have employees have their masks off. Since we are still in a pandemic I'm not comfortable with someone breathing directly on me and especially if they sound sick. He lacked common sense, was not self aware or was uncomfortable in the mask and didn't think of others. I told the manager and she knew exactly who I was talking about as she described him to him and also stated that he is very loose about wearing his mask. The cosmetic manger told me he gets very hot and uncomfortable wearing his mask but also our kids still do it in school and they are not complaining. Please respect others.
