Nordstrom's is known for their customer service-oriented approach, and it shows. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. I am especially appreciative of the fragrance section employees. They know their stuff. Some have been in the fragrance business for 20+ years, so when I go in there lamenting the loss of perfumes of the past, they know exactly what they are......and what best replaces them in this day and age. Ahhhh, my heroes !!! I love their cosmetics and jewelry sections, as well. Clothes are divine but usually out of my price range. We won't even discuss shoes or handbags. I think this store is quite small, and I much prefer the Topanga store more......the mothership of all Nordstrom's.... but my daughter used to work at this one, and it's closer to home....so this is where I usually go. read more

I didn't realize how good my local Nordstrom is (at the Topanga Mall) until going to this one. This store isn't bad. Not at all. The people in the store are kind, the clothing selection is decent, the restrooms are well maintained, the restaurant, Blue Stove (see review) is great. But, the store is small. Only two levels to my Nordie's three. The smallest and saddest little shoe collection ever. They were lacking in the little things too, like your name written on the dry erase board when you go to your dressing room. Again, nothing at all wrong with the store. I arrived right at 9pm this evening and needed a new shirt or two right at closing time and they held the men's shop open for the 20 minutes it took me to pick 'em out. Service here is the same as any other Nordstrom store that you have come to know and love. While the store is smaller and doesn't have the largest selection on all items, it certainly provides enough merchandise for most of your needs. If you are budget conscience, you can also shop here versus some of the other Los Angeles locations and save 1.5% on your sales tax (Ventura County tax rate is 8.25% versus 9.75% in LA). read more

First of all I have to say I hate shopping. I hate shopping when I have something very specific in mind that I am looking for and of course: we never find it!!! I have 3 weeks to find a ball gown for a military ball and the dresses they have out these days are either: a.) skanky and short with neon colors and tull or b.) gross fabric that takes me back to my high school homecoming days in the 90s so i am not having much luck. I went to Nordstrom's because I love the selection they have on line (found one that was stunning) so I was HOPING they would have it in stock but because this is one of the smaller stores i figured they wouldn't. The manager of the dress department was so great helping me out with finding the right size i would need with that designer so that we could order it on line! It's always clean. Went in last week to return a shirt less than a week old, with my receipt attached to the shirt. Not worn at all. I read through both the policy on the receipt AND the online policy, which states I'll be refunded with my original form of payment. When I went to get my money back, the girl at the register told me that they don't give cash back anymore? Which is a total rip off, and proceeded to give me a gift card instead, which is a complete violation of their return policy. She was also very rude and didn't seem to take me seriously at all. Just a quick note from a recent visit: Taylor in Topshop is a master stylist. I had been looking for a dress for a formal event for a few weeks. I've shopped Nordstrom, Neimans, Bloomies & more and just couldn't find the right thing. While returning a $325 dress at Savvy that was not going to work, I bumped into Taylor who immediately pulled out a dress from Topshop (!) that was PERFECT...at less than half the price. TOPSHOP! And I'm over 30! I never would have given this dress a second look on the rack...but she knew it would work and I'm so grateful. On another note: It baffles me that Nordstrom can sell anything at all with the hideous lighting they have in their women's fitting rooms. Seriously, this lighting adds pounds and imperfections that I don't even think are real! Nobody's perfect but this lighting gives you the illusion that you look horrible! This recent visit when I purchased a cashmere sweater for my daughter Johni was especially helpful and so easy to work with even considering some special requests. This review is solely for the cosmetics department. I recently stopped threading my eyebrows and heard Alison from the Anastasia department changes lives. Lol. So I made an appointment and I was so thrilled with my experience. Upgrading from a $10 threading job where the girls in the mall butcher my eyebrows, to the $30 eyebrow service with Alison is totally worth it. Alison explained every part of the process and I was surprised to learn so much about Anastasia and how consistent they are with clients and eyebrow shape. She matched me with my color and i ended up buying $200 worth of product from her in hopes I could re-create my eyebrows like how she did them. I'm still learning but I am happy that I get to come here once a month for her to give me the star treatment. read more

I have so much to say. I love the cosmetics department. There are some awesome brands, Kevin Aucoin, Chanel, Laura Mercier, Bobby Brown, Spa Line: Arcona and finally MAC! At MAC David is the Master! U can start out as a weed and in 15-30 mins look like a beautiful bouquet. Via C has beautiful clothing. In fact, the whole 2nd floor has something for everyone. The only disappointment is the shoe department. What happened? There are few to no interesting shoes. The ones I like are the Frye boots. I'm so tired of everything made in China. If they took out all the Chinese merch, the store would be empty except for some jeans, T's and Frye boots. read more

Walked in with my partner to buy a Chanel Cologne as a gift for a friend. Before I could even step foot into the section, we immediately got stopped by Carlos Edward D. In the rudest way possible. You can feel the judgement in the room. Entirely discriminatory! Before we can even look at the cologne we were thinking of purchasing, he didn't even hesitate to snatch it out of our hands to hold it by the counter. He was throwing the price in our face multiple times, almost insinuating it was out of our budget. Want to see a bank statement and see how much money I make? Want to see a check stub from work? It wasn't until we mentioned one of the assistant managers by first name, that he started playing nice and wanting to wrap it up for us and make sure that we get the CHANEL bag for it, as well as the CHANEL wrapping paper. I understand it's the end of the month and people are scrapping for a sale to make their monthly budget, but stop attacking your customers, and quit the discriminatory confrontational approach. It's 2022 we should be through with this kind of treatment by now.. read more

On the 2 January a clerk helped us try to find a Braxton beret. They didn't have any in stock. So he ordered one for us. We paid $53.96 by Visa. He did not ask us but assumed we wanted it delivered to our apartment. We told him not to, that we would pick it up at the store. It took him and two ladies to try to correct the order. After 20 minutes they said it was fixed. A week later we received an email saying the beret could not be delivered. So we went back to Thousand Oaks and ask why it could not be delivered. Then canceled that order. We reordered the beret and made sure it was to be picked up at the Topanga store at Topanga mall. We waited a week and got no email. So we stopped by to check on the order. The lady said there was a problem and Nordstrom canceled the order. We did not get any phone call or notification by email. Just as I was trying to write the review I realized the clerk typed our email wrong! I had to check my account and yes Nordstrom refunded both charges. I should charge them for the gas and time. We did go to accessories and found one Braxton Beret at Topanga Canyon mall. Definitely makes you Leary of ordering anything from Nordstrom again. read more

I've always known Nordstrom for their great customer service and return policy. It's why I always felt so comfortable purchasing. This has changed. I bought a Anastasia eyebrow pencil. (I even made a video about it. I have a YouTube channel with nearly 400k subscribers - I mention it because it illustrates timeline of buying and using the product) Soon after that, the pencil slid out of the tube and was rendered useless. I couldn't get it back in. It was a faulty product or design, and definitely not worth the money without the product guarantee. I was told because I didn't have my receipt (I loved it & planned on keeping it) and paid cash, they would do nothing to help me. I understand some people may scam, but in turn, the lack of resolve left me feeling scammed on a expensive yet broken product. I'll never buy Anastasia eyebrow products again, and I certainly won't count on Nordstrom to uphold their customer service. I'll just purchase from Sephora or another beauty retailer in the future. It's a shame because I bought MANY cosmetic and beauty products from this location, and I easily would have been willing to give Anastasia another chance. read more

Such a bummer because Nordstrom is usually top notch for customer service. I went in to return some shoes that I had ordered online and to do some shopping. First, I returned the shoes. I had purchased them using a combo of Nordstrom notes and my credit card and I was hoping to get them refunded the same way. The lady put it all back on my card, even though I had asked for it to be refunded the same way I had purchased it. I even have a gift card that I use to put Nordstrom notes on. I have yet to see my Nordstrom card account credited, which is a bit concerning... Following this I started looking through the shoe department. There were several pairs I wanted to try on, yet I was blatantly ignored by every sales person there. I spent about 15 minutes shopping in that department, and even tried to flag sales people down, but nope. Overall, a very disappointing experience for a Level 3 member. read more

Absolutely amazing service!! All the associates were exceptionally helpful during our visit!! Bought my first pair of Dr. Martens in the shoe department from Abdolsamad who was so kind and got me several different sizes in many styles! Then went over to the fragrance and beauty department and Tannah was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the various Channel No. 5 perfumes and helped me pick out the right one and provided a sample for me!! Then we went to look for an urban decay setting powder and unfortunately they didn't sell it in store but they were so amazing and kind and ordered it for us (free shipping ;)) to our home address!! I had recently been to Nordstrom Topanga to purchase Céline Sunglasses. They didn't have the ones I wanted and the girl was no help or nor did she offer to order the style I was looking for. She pretty much said that there was no way of her looking to see if she could order the style I wanted. I walked away disappointed. So I decided to go to The Oaks. Man, what a difference!! CELESTE!!! Walked into this Nordstrom to shop around and one of the employees told the security guard to keep an eye on me and my friend. I don't appreciate being singled out when I'm coming in as a customer who has bought items from Nordstrom before. This employee was a white male who usually works in the teenagers/men's section. The time before when I bought a pair of rvca pants from here he was constantly following me around which I also don't appreciate. The employee is lucky that my friend convinced me to leave or I would have confronted him and called him out. Nordstrom do better. My daughter had her make up done by Emily today at the Bobby Brown counter. Emily did a beautiful job. My daughter wanted eye lashes so Emily expertly attached them. The manager of the counter comes over and tells Emily in front of us that it's not Bobby Browns policy to put eyelashes on for a customer. (This was Emily's first day at BB) the manager should of waited until we were gone to let Emily know about this policy. I feel like the manager was unprofessional . I smiled and said "hello" to him as I was exiting (and after dropping $200.00) and he gave me a dirty look!!!! Where was the "thank you," or "have a great day," "thank you for shopping?" I have been going to Nordstrom's my whole life. They used to be my go-to for amazing service and quality bras/clothes/make-up. It was always a treat. Now I walk in and they could care less. My last visits: they do not have anything in or attempted to work with me by helping me try new things, they also treat me like they don't care if Im a customer. The older woman with red hair who helped me acted like she was in a huge hurry and I should just leave. She didnt even introduce herself. I guess I don't fit their mold of who they're looking to sell to. They make you buy things online, and the shipping takes forever. I've always been a bargain shopper myself, with Marshalls, Target and thrift stores being my first go to's, but when I found some adorable sandals on nordstroms.com at a reasonable price, I couldn't pass them up. I had a Hawaii trip planned and they would go perfectly with my planned vaca wardrobe.... My girlfriend has been shopping at nordstroms forever and always talked about how amazing her experiences always are. I always equated Nordstroms with the rich and myself not being rich, figured I could always find similar items way cheaper elsewhere. Well, when I got them in the mail (quick shipping!) I wanted to try wearing them for the day before my vacation; they were so adorable and comfortable. Only issue was a stone on the strap came out within the first couple hours. I was so bummed. Since I didn't have enough time before my trip to send them back, I took them to my nearest Nordstroms store. Sidebar: This Nordstroms closes at 7pm on Sundays but is open till 9pm all other days This was really my first time being a "shopper" here. It is really hard for me to take anything back to ANY store, but the shoe dept. was SO INCREDIBLY nice and helpful. They didn't carry the sandal in the store but the associate showed me all sandals in the same color scheme/style. I settled on a pair and during the exchange the associate told me about the rewards card Nordstroms offers. It connects DIRECTLY with my debit card AND I earn money back! Sign me up! I ended up walking out with not one but TWO pairs of sandals to replace the one I bought online....and now have a rewards card. The associates really know their stuff and help without seeming pushy!!! I don't think I can go back to my "bargain shopping" now. With the nice and helpful associates, rewards cards, ease of exchanges/returns not to mention the cleanliness and organized shopping areas....I now get why people love shopping at this place!
