This place is PURE GARBAGE! You walk in, and the first thing you see is a picture of Tony Soprano RAVING about how great this sushi is (they apparently were in an episode last year). So the entrance is PLASTERED with pictures of the filming here. They sit you down, and you open the menu, and SURPRISE!! You have to pay $9 for a tuna nigiri. Not for the usual two!! But for JUST ONE!!! I refused to get it out of principle. I decided to get a couple of rolls instead. One was a spider roll, I think (it was 4 months ago) and I don't remember the other. What I do remember is going home and feeling terribly sick to my stomach for the rest of the evening. I went with my mom, who got a steak terriaki that was like eating a piece of gum from a pack of Topps Baseball cards--hard and terrible to begin, then like chewing a rubber glove at the end. oh, and it was expensive! House salad - large with lots of carrot ginger dressing Miso soup - uh yeah that's what I expected Rolls - 7 out of 10 Some of the rolls were very good and one was not so great but I think it's more of my palate than poor prep. Calling all Soprano fans! I know this doesn't matter to everyone but this was a landmark restaurant in the Sopranos and Nori is proud of it! When you walk in, there's a ton of pictures of the cast showcased on the walls. I absolutely love this, as Sopranos is my favorite series of all time. Ok, now on to what's more important, the food. You're started off with a basket with warm towels to clean your hands and a basket of some type of flavored chips (they are delicious). Even though the warm towels is a small gesture, it goes a long way. I think its a great touch and makes the customer happy (it worked on me anyway). My sister and I started off with the fried Gyoza filled with pork. You get six little dumplings in a serving and its a perfect appetizer to start with. You do not have to get these fried, steamed Gyoza is also an option. I do believe you can do a fish and/or vegetarian style as well if you're not into pork. They were very tasteful and hit the spot. I have to say I have had more meaty and bigger pork Gyoza at other sushi restaurants but these were still good and that's all that matters. Sushi: My sister and I shared three exotic rolls, I posted a picture of the exotic rolls list, as I believe you cannot find it online (FYI no prices are listed on the menu). See below for details of each roll I had.. Krazy Big Roll: Tuna, spicy tuna, spicy salmon, tobiko and scallions. This roll had a nice kick to it, really opened up your airways. I enjoyed it very much. Side note, didn't really taste the scallions. Sexy Roll: Kani, avocado, tobiko, Fresh tuna, spicy sauce. This roll was also on the spicy side, moderate bite sizes and was scrumptious. Red Dragon: King crab, tuna, avocado, tobiko, special sauce. This roll was the largest out of the three...it also had some type of crunch on the top of it (which I liked). Overall it was good but it was my least favorite (I'm starting to think king crab on sushi just isn't my preference)...but either way, it was still enjoyable. The sushi at Nori is just really fresh, which is why I enjoy it. Also, the staff is super attentive and the atmosphere is cozy and delightful. The prices are in line with other sushi places, so you are definitely not spending more than you would expect to spend. Two of the rolls were $13 and one was $14, cant remember the specifics of which roll was which price. At the end of the meal you are served fresh orange slices (neither my sister or I like oranges so we passed up on this) but it was still a nice thought. Probably the best all around sushi place ive ever been to, and ive eaten at at least 100 different places all over bergen county and all over the country, from LA to Portland, to Miami ect... Everything on the menu is at least good, if not great and the prices are very reasonable. Its usually busy, but never packed. little tip - best thing on the menu is the spicy chicken soup. it's unbelievable! *an update - they took off the spicy chicken noodle soup. bad move, had to drop one start as that was the best thing they made. read more

I have had nothing but GREAT experiences coming to Nori for lunch! I work very close to Nori (about 5 min), and am able to get in, seated, and out in about 45 minutes... All including a delicious and cheap lunch meal! I highly recommend Nori; not only for the food, but also for the service. They are extremely accomodating (especially with tight timelines!). I got there at 12:20 and let them know I was in a rush and needed to be out before 1.. and I was! The sashimi special is awesome too. You get SO much food (salad, soup, sashimi) for so cheap! We decided to give this place a shot for our last minute Valentine's Day lunch date. I arrived around 11:50, it was very quiet. At about 12:05 people started to POUR IN. I ordered the lunch special, $15 for clear or miso soup, salad, gyoza or shumai, choice of 2 rolls and dessert. My bf ordered a teriyaki chicken bento box which was $13 and included everything the lunch special has minus the 2 rolls, instead you get 1 California roll. As I'm writing this I realized they never offered or brought us our dessert! Bummer! Regardless, I ordered the Firecracker and Mango Shrimp rolls which were very yummy! My bf and I both loved the steamed shumai. His bento box was yummy except for the Cali roll. Regardless, I will definitely be back soon, and hopefully get my dessert too! read more

Came here for my friend's birthday, expecting to pay a lot and not get a lot--that was not the case. We ordered a mixture of rolls, better and better with each bite. I recommend the Spider, Shrimp Tempura, Spicy Wayne and Snoopy (has peanut sauce). Had the lunch special with spicy tuna, spicy crab & tuna avocado. I was completely disappointed at the taste & quality. The spicy crab was soaked in a watery pink mayonnaise -the spicy tuna was bright orange & processed & the tuna in the tuna avocado roll was white colored & tasted so bad that I threw it away. First of all, I am so thankful a decent sushi restaurant opened in the Wayne-area. With its fruit-incorporated rolls, Nori may not be the most authentic place, but it is so delicious! The menu is quite large and offers traditional main courses, such as teriyaki, hibachi, and unusual sushi rolls. The chicken teriyaki is always perfectly cooked and coated with the perfect amount of savory sauce. The sushi rolls are fresh and unusual, incorporating ingredients like fried banana and mango. The sushi was really good! Very fresh tasting especially compared to a lot of places I've had. Lunch deals weren't expensive however rolls on their own are pretty pricy. The worst restaurant and service! Extremely rude establishment and staff. My friends and I had to literally get up and leave after being so rudely treated. The Waitress had a very bad attitude and everything did not feel right the minute we walked in. Starting with an unwelcome attitude and unfriendly welcome. One of the better Japanese restaurants that I have tried. Went for lunch with a friend. He had the beef hibachi; I had the shrimp hibachi. Both very good and generous portions. I had the clear soup to start which was very good as well. My friend prefers the miso. Simple side salad also included; nothing special. I did not like the Thai iced tea. They have the best menu (Not that pricey) for anyone who loves sushi! Between the variety of sushi rolls and the amount that comes with a meal, this place is the best go to restaurant! It is extremely tidy along with an excellent staff that waits on your every needs. I am the biggest fan of all that is mango. Mango roll, Mango Shrimp, and the Mango Spider (fried shrimp and fried crab in a rice roll with a grilled? mango on top in this amazing sweet sauce) are my classics and go to choices when i truly do not know what i want. They have this boat for the bigger parties that has A LOT of varieties on it along with anything you want to add (for an additional cost of course). Although I wouldn't say best sushi in town, this place have very good sushi and the process are not that bad. Fresh and very tasty. I walked in to place a to go order. The waitress was extremely helpful and took the time to help me with my order. She even suggested that I maybe ordered too much, until I told her the number of people which was only one more then she had thought. We have been going to Nori Sushi since they were in their old Caldwell location. Lucky for us they moved to Wayne in 2003. There is something for everyone to love at Nori -- from great sushi to delish cooked food. Carmen, Annie, and the gang are wonderful and make you feel like family when you're there. Nori Sushi may be a hole-in-the-wall of a Wayne strip-mall, noted for the weird trivia of being featured in a few Sopranos episodes, but it's also a true diamond in the rough. I'm absolutely astounded to see some of the negative reviews on here. They may be slightly pricier than the sushi-joint-next-door, but the quality is well worth it. I ordered all sushi.. for the most part it was fine The white tuna stuck out to me as being bad quality fish which sucks because I was really looking forward to it, the seasoned lobster sushi tasted like it had wasabi when I specifically asked for no wasabi (allergy) . We are both big fans of Nori sushi in Wayne. Keith especially. The lunch specials are great. $15 for my favorite miso soup, salad, shumi, and 2 rolls of your choice. Highly recomend the Caribbean roll. Fried banana on top of rolled tuna/avocado with a special avocado sauce. The textures work perfectly together. I have been there a million times and always make this one of my rolls. Katie recommends the Snoopy which is tempura shrimp with a almond/peanut butter topping. Amazing. More like 4 & 3/4 stars. Of the 3 or 4 sushi restaurants that I've tried in the area, Nori is my favorite. Whenever I go I must order the Soprano roll. Loaded with fried snapper, tuna, yellowtail, eel, salmon and tobiko, and a fantastic eel sauce. It's a must have. Nice chill atmosphere makes it a great place to bring a date. read more
