Norman or Daniel will explain to you what you need, and can work with you (within reason) if you communicate what you need or want done or are price sensitive. Norman has a lifetime experience and if I need a mechanic I'm going here every time. I used to be a delivery driver and he helped me stay on the road and , within reason, works with me with things other mechanics wouldn't such as allowing me to bring in my own parts or understanding my budget, or taking a little extra care to make my car available if I need it on a certain timeframe. I was attracted to the place after reading the positive reviews. However, my experience was rather sour. Norman seems like a nice enough guy to talk to, however, when it comes to performing actual work and charging for it, it's a different story. He misdiagnosed the issue, done the work and my problem continued. Upon researching the work work he did, I found out he replaced a simple, and very easy to swap part (5 mins per various sources), yet charged what amounted to over two hours of mechanic labor, while making it sound like I was getting a deal. Norman is hands-down one of the best mechanics I've ever worked with. He quoted me an extremely fair price to replace my timing belt, radiator hoses, and water pump, and when I picked it up, he had additionally fixed my gearshift/tail lights, replaced a headlight bulb, replaced my thermostat, and had even gotten my radio working again, all in a two-day turn-around (my car is old, if you cant tell). He even offered me a ride home when I dropped off my car. After going to Midas and being told an o2 sensor was unable to be removed without replacing the catalytic convertor, I happen to be driving passed this mechanic shop and decided to stop in here. These guys were able to replace the sensor and they did so very quickly. The mechanic also noticed a slight coolant leak from the lower radiator hose and saw the clamp was loose and went ahead and tightened it for me. He also pointed out to me that the spare tire was low on air and he filled it up. Next time I have an issue with my car I will go right back to this shop. Friendly mechanics and they did NOT rip me off. The price they charged me was a lot less than what other shops quoted me. read more

With a 10-year-old car, I have needed to see Norman a couple times in the past few weeks. The first time they came out right away and jumped my car when the battery died - and had it replaced that day. The second time they replaced the alternator and belt - again, done in one day at a fantastic price. A few weeks ago, I went to start my car and realized something was wrong- someone had stolen the catalytic converter from my car. I was so frustrated because I was planning to drive home to Minnesota the next day for Christmas. A friend referred me to Norman, and I'm beyond happy that she did! Norman was so helpful, very fair on the price, and had my car ready for me the next afternoon so that I could make it home for Christmas! I used to dread taking my car to the mechanic because my lack of car knowledge made me feel like a fish out of water, but Norman made me feel very comfortable and most importantly, I didn't feel taken advantage of! I hate to admit how intimidated I am bringing a car in for repairs. My 1st experience here was a screw in the tire. I called and they told me to come right in. It only took 10 minutes to fix and 4 months later my tire is still fine. I have taken my car in for several minor tune ups and fixes and never felt ripped off or up sold. Came in from out of town on Saturday afternoon, car started acting up when we got off the highway. Normans was one of the few open places. Took it by round 2 on Saturday (they like everyone else are closed on Sunday), got a quote few hours later, said he might be able to get it done by COB, but otherwise someone would come in and have it ready Sunday morning. Was in the neighborhood and stopped by the shop round when he thought it would be done. Totally locked and gated up, no one home no one answering the phone. Resigned my self to car kidnapping and made contingency plans. Short while later get a call from Norman that the car is ready and alive and well! Thanks Norman! Update- reduced ti 4 stars. Little later problem returns and turns out thermostat is shot. There is no way to know for certain if it was the original culprit too, but either way it probably should of been replaced when the other work was done and the coolant was out. read more

Because I had such a great experience in Feb, I went back to Norman International with a far more serious car problem. The EPS and engine lights came on and my Audi A3 would not drive more than 5 mph. Luckily, I had just left my house so I was able to pull over on Kedize and walk to Norman's. Norman is the nicest guy! He said he would walk over and check it out and, if possible, drive it to the shop so I wouldn't have to mess with the towing. Yes, I could have done this myself, but he took care of it. The problem with the car required a very expensive fix, but Norman gave me a (way) cheaper option, although not guaranteed, if I couldn't afford the big fix. I took the gamble and went the cheap route. It stuck for about 6 weeks--I was prepared for this and when the EPS went out again I told Norman I was all in. Norman is upfront and honest and does a great job. When the cost of the part was actually more than what he had quoted (twice as much, I think), he did not charge me for the additional, which was awesome.
