We finally landed at Norms and honestly, a 20-minute wait felt like a total win compared to the hour-long lines elsewhere. ​Here is the lowdown on our "Plan B" brunch. ​The BLT with Avocado I ordered and tried to be a "good girl" and requested wheat bread to stay on the healthier side... big mistake! The bread was so hard it was actually a struggle to bite into. Sadly, I couldn't really enjoy my sandwich. Stick to the sourdough ladies! ​The enchilada Omelet my daughter went for this and it was such a unique twist. A little different but surprisingly tasty! ​The "Sneak Attack" I may or may not have stolen an onion ring from my son-in-law... It was perfectly crunchy, not oily at all, and that ranch dressing, Divine. ​Norms is a classic for a reason! The food took awhile to come but it came out perfectly cooked and hot! We had the egg Benedict, lumberjack breakfast and French toast. The French toast was huge!! One thing I can say about this Norms is, they for sure make my food fresh because, everytime I go to pick it up, it's never ready, and I've always had to wait! One of the times I went, I saw Mr.Tendernism himself. I was sitting in the lobby waiting for my food (per usual, lol) and my head was down on my phone. He spoke to me as he was passing by, and when I looked up, I saw it was him. It didn't dawn on me who he was, until he walked out. We came here for breakfast and had a great experience! The food and the service were awesome! They accommodated us with a stroller and sat us quickly! We came on a Sunday morning and it was busy but we did not wait long to be seated! Our waitress was friendly and attentive! I ordered a hot chocolate and it was good! For breakfast, I got the veggie omelette with home fries and sourdough toast and my husband also got an omelette with fruit and hashbrowns and both dishes were delicious! They have many tables and are good for large groups! They also have a private parking lot! We definitely want to come back for breakfast again! read more

WHY I CAME HERE? My eldest daughter and I were at the Norms in Ontario Mills for a very late dinner. Lucky for us, they were still open. Our very first visit ever at a Norms and they have been open since 1949... 76 years later. Better late than never! Glad to finally catch them in this lifetime LOL. FOOD / DRINK: WOW, I was super amazed by their massive menu that covers quite a variety for the classic American diner delights! Let's name them off for you... steak & eggs, hearty skillets, breakfast specialties, fresh farm omeletes, all day breakfast combo cravings, french toast & waffles, shareables, handcrafted burgers, sandwiches & melts, salads, pastas, steak, seafood, classic comforts, kids menu, desserts, and beverages & shakes. Now that's a menu!! Choices are endless... okay, almost endless LOL. Well, after much contemplations on what to eat, we decided on 3 items. OMG... when our food came out, my eyes widened with astonishment. Portions were ENORMOUS! Prices were so very reasonable. Definitely got the BEST BANG for our BUCK! Triple B's!! Everything was so fresh and tasty. Check out the photos! I would get the CA Cobb Salad and Fisherman Combo Seafood Platter again... worth the moola! They sure got it covered. Very cozy all around. We got to sit at one of the benches facing the kitchen entrance. We wanted to make sure our food got to us sooner than later LOL. Anyway, it was quite comfortable. There's a small bench area near the entrance for people to sit and wait until their table is ready. Good thinking! One men's restroom and one women's restroom for use... please ask the staff for key code that's required. EXTERIOR / PARKING: No outside seating for dining except for a few benches for people to sit while waiting for their table to be ready. Thanks for being thoughtful to your customers, Norms! Free parking is available. If lot gets full, you can park in the general parking on the other side of the drive path. You have the entire Ontario Mills parking lot to choose from. RECOMMEND THIS PLACE? I CONCUR on YES! No doubt about it. I will be back for more deliciousness and to try their other food/drink/dessert items. Norms continues to be one of our go-to places nearly a few times a month due to the sheer variety of food and prices, and especially promotions. The menu is much larger than you might find at an IHOP or Denny's, and if you compare the pricing, it's surprisingly better value, especially if you look at the value menu but even for normal entrées if you compare what you get. For example, for a similar fish entree that you might get at IHOP, at Norms you get more sides, you get soup and salad, it's a better value overall. In the value menu, you can get a full fish dinner for under $13, you can't find that anywhere else. Service at this Norms was friendly but a bit too slow. Our table seemed to wait nearly 30 minutes from the time we sat down until the time we got our food, which is a bit long if you've got little little ones. But we were there on a Friday evening, so we expected to wait a little longer than average. The other thing that has changed things recently for us is the Norms app which we recently downloaded, it has provided a lot of discounts and promos. It has brought us back sometimes in the same week. I was surprised how good the promos and coupons were and when we tried them, it worked so really happy with the latest changes and have already become a regular customer at this and other Norms around SoCal. read more

Our experiences with Norms in Los Angeles have been very good in the past. This was our first visit to a Norms post-Covid, and it was disappointing. Clearly understaffed for a Sunday midday crowd, service was slow and inattentive. Twice I had to go up to the counter to ask for something after waiting and waiting for our server to bring it to us. The Menu has been stripped down to essentially burgers, steps, fried foods, and breakfast items. I decided to try a "new" breakfast item, the Cali-Cado Benny -- i.e , Benedict. It was pretty good: 2 toasted English muffin halves, grilled tomato, fresh avocado, 2 poached eggs topped with Hollandaise, bacon and green onions. I ordered the eggs "soft with runny yolks", yet the kitchen sent out two eggs with yolks as hard as golf balls! No excuse. I sent them back for a new plate prepared as ordered. Second order was better but also not as ordered. Rather go around a third time with the kitchen, I decided to quit while I was ahead. In short, no need to return here. We went today to have breakfast we drove around 60 miles from Home and we had the worst experience today . The waitress Wendi was so simple she doesn't have any empathy for the customers she work only for the tips ? That's wrong. Because especially right now in this situation you have to bring good customer service. Plus the food was so disgusting to much oil we have to use a napkin to remove the oil . Stopped at the Norm's in Ontario before heading home to Barstow. Brianna was a fantastic server. She delivered our drinks quickly and with a great smile. She brought out the soup, salad and appetizers before our main course which is so important. Brianna delivered our delicious fettuccine with a great smile. Throughout our time here she has checked on us many times making sure our drinks were full and that we had all we needed. I love the ambiance in the restaurant. It is so cutely decorated. My only suggestion would be to either take down the Welcome balloons or at dust then. We sat under them and on the back side they were very dusty. I ordered the gumbo through DoorDash and then reheated it in my own cup and honestly it was pretty underwhelming. I was really looking forward to a delicious authentic Cajun style gumbo thick flavorful and packed with depth but this just did not deliver. The broth was thick but it tasted more like a tomato based chicken and sausage soup than gumbo and the ingredients seemed canned rather than fresh. It is not awful just disappointing. If you are hoping for that homemade slow simmered flavor that makes gumbo so special this probably is not the one. read more
