The servers here didn't acknowledge us at all. We waited almost 30 minutes and couldn't even get water. They helped tables that arrived well after us first. Only when we started getting up to leave did they finally come over. As soon as we walked by, one of the servers said "don't worry about them." The host was rude and made us feel like an inconvenience. We ended up going to Denny's instead, and despite it being busy, we were greeted kindly and helped within five minutes. Got there at 12:00pm and was seated in 20 mins.. the food came after 45 mins and the hash brown was cold. Coffee is also not that good as it was watered down. We keep on calling the server because our order was not complete.. pancake was served at the very end and had to request it to be served.. had to take it home .. not a good experience first time going there.... Also, they had an ad to be have a free breakfast sandwich if you download the app which i did.. but the server said it is for the next visit!! I am so upset we got ripped off.. We had our food delivered, my husband order the white fish plate dinner it supposed to come mash potatoes and vegetables he didn't get the veggies and the fish was over fried and dried. I ordered the shrimp with rice Pilar and veggies I didn't get the vegetables either and the shrimp was over fried and left me an after taste. I enjoyed everything in this restaurant. The manager Beverly is the best. Runs a tight ship, keeps an eye on everything. My server Marina was such a sweetheart. She checked on me every few mins to make sure I had everything I need. When I took too long to eat my pancakes, she even took it back to reheat it for me automatically! How do you get service like that? I had the T-Bone steak and eggs. I asked for medium, I got a nearly wall-to-wall medium on my steak. See attached picture. This branch also offers a product I have never seen at other Norms restaurants: freshly squeezed OJ. I tried it and it's the real thing! Fabulous. Norms is not Ruth Chris or Morton's. Norms is about big portions at good value. Comfort at an affordable price. My experience sure was worth far more than what I paid. I'll be back for sure, fellas. read more

Marina was the star of my morning. I didn't expect this kind of service at a diner. She subtly cleared the table of used plates, napkins, and empty creamer containers. With a smile, she checked in throughout my meal regularly making sure I had everything I needed. We ordered steak and eggs We specified steaks are medium rare and eggs are over easy But when the orders were served the steak was well done and eggs over cooked We called the server, showed her the well done steak and she took the plates saying she will take it back to the kitchen and will make a new one After a while she came back with a plate with an almost raw steak still cold in the inside served with the same over cooked eggs in the same plate We again called the server and she took back the plate saying sorry again For the third time she came back with another plate of steak and eggs but we already lost the appetite We just had the food to go and paid the bill and left. I work in the service industry so I'm pretty understanding and patient, but I have to say something because this truly was the worst experience of my life. And I wasn't expecting 5 star service I get it's just a diner... but dang our server Alejandra was so incredibly rude for no reason at all!! We sat down, and right off the bat we get the cold shoulder from Alejandra. She couldn't be bothered to even look us in the eye, rushing us to take our order and just walks away without saying anything. We finally place our order with her, clearly she can't be bothered to even listen to what we're saying because our ENTIRE order was wrong (not like it was a complicated order either). I ordered country fried steak and eggs, with sourdough toast and an extra side of eggs 'over medium'. My husband orders steak and eggs with a side of biscuits and gravy. She comes out with our food and it's a skillet with pancakes, and his order came with pancakes instead of biscuits and gravy. My eggs were super runny... I said this isn't what I ordered and she says "oh I heard you say this blah blah blah" okay can I just please get what I ordered and as I'm telling her what it was.. she is literally WALKING AWAY from me as I'm talking to her. Brings my food out, and I ask when is my husband's biscuits and gravy coming out? She goes "oh? He didn't order the pancakes?" I'm like ummm no? Do you not listen at all? My goodness she had the personality of a stone cold rock. If you are going to work in the service industry it should be a requirement to have even the most basic of social skills. Awful awful awful. Alejandra is bad for your business. At least the manager discounted our bill and I didn't even have to ask so that was kind of her to do. This is not Normal for Norm's. Please see my other 5-star Norm's reviews: longtime fan, coming since I was a kid, with my father being a regular customer since he was a kid too. This location is severely mismanaged: walked out after 20 minutes without water. Understaffing happens, but why were some people doing sidework and others idle while our server was doubletime? Robert your host urgently needs retraining, as when we walked out and noted the problem to him, it was unprofessionally handled. He mentioned the manager had just left. If so, why did she leave her staff in the weeds? Felt terrible for our server, who was really working hard but clearly not supporteed. ...left without food and angry... ...and went to the nearby Clairemont location which was great as always. I was notified too happy with my visit. First they forgot about us so we had to see people that came after us get seated. Then when our food finally got delivered my husband's eggs were not scrambled and I got one slice of toast. Our waitress Marina made our visit so much better.
