I like coming to Norms for a good breakfast that is reasonably priced and of good quality. The service has always been pretty good for us when we dine here and breakfast never takes too long before it's put at the table. I've been a patron of Norms for many years. I was happy when one opened near our home. The first time we came in we were not impressed with the food or the service, we blamed the inexperienced staff and decided to try again at a later time. The second time we came in the whole restaurant smelled like sewage, from the parking lot all the way inside it smelled horrible, they tried to cover it up with fragrance sprays but it just made it worse. Needless to say the smell ruined our meal, I decided not to order at all and my wife took two bites of her food and packed up the rest. Today we decided to go again since our kids wanted to try Norms for breakfast. We had our meals without incident but when the bill came they had raised the price of one of our plates and added an additional surcharge to the total. When we asked about the surcharge we were told "that's how we can keep our prices low" which is an oxymoron if ever I heard one. Sorry to say I've lost faith in my old pal Norm!! Stay away, there is a Denny's across the street that has always had solid service. read more

I love Norms, but this location is the worst! From getting seated taking forever with so many open tables to being served!! The service was beyond horrible. Our waitress looked like a hot mess and screwed up our whole order. Food was cold and tasteless. They were out of everything apparently according to the waitress. She seemed completely clueless about her job. I definitely will not be coming back to thIs location!! The Manager needs to do a major overhaul!! read more

Sunday morning. Wait is a bit excessive but not much you can. For 2 we waited about forty minutes. Not sure if the lack of service was due to it being busy or Shantier just not knowing how to wait the table. The food was disappointing, simple eggs and sausage, eggs weren't cooked well, presentation it was just thrown in there. I don't tip slow service. 3 ppl in my party. We were seated approximately in 10 mins. I ordered the sirloin trio, Mac n cheese with fruit for my nephew, and my mom got the big breakfast. Hash browns was over cooked. The steak trio came with soup, salad, entree, choice of potato and veggies. I was underwhelmed. Server forgets about you. I had to ask 3 times for a refill. It started badly with the hostess, but the waiter was one of the best I've ever had! His name was Richard, and he was great! He helped recommend the cobb salad (which was amazing) with their homemade ranch dressing. He was respectful, kind, attentive, and made the experience a lot comfortable during covid. He certainly what he is doing and deserves a raise. I haven't seen a happier server in such a long time. Richard is the best! There was an additional waiter that was so kind and helped me with my troubles with the hostess. She was a Hispanic woman, mother-like, who was so kind even though she didn't serve us. Are usually go to the NORMS near the airport, the food is great there. And frequently I go to the Torrance location near 190th. Those two locations are pretty good this location however, although it's convenient because it's close off the freeway if I'm really hungry after work it's the closest offramp to get off and eat especially if the traffic is bad and then wait for it to clear up. But no matter how hungry I am I'm not coming back to this one. Do people here need their paychecks? I wonder because when I was a waitress and going to school, I acted like I needed my job and have respect for my job and dress nicely and neatly and my shoes were polished. What is up with these girls, the waitresses and the hostesses, they all need to be retrained. When there are new waitstaff @ Hawthorne Boulevard and 1/90 or the NORMS at Pacific Coast Highway, they make sure that they're trained before they put them out on the floor to work. Especially now that everything is so expensive, I might start cooking at home again because when I'm hungry and tired, I don't want to wait 10 minutes while somebody feels like coming to take my order. And I don't like being rude because I'm a nice person, but sometimes you feel enough is enough. Let me get out of here I think I'm sticking to Torrance from now on. read more

We had to wait to for 30 minutes so we choose to sit outside because it was too crowded inside, they have a speaker outside to call for names I heard other names called over the speaker, I check my for my name and they said we called you but I guess you were outside. So nobody even bothered to check ?? STRIKE 1. We are seated our waiter was very inattentive, 2 of our orders came out and the 2 other orders we waited literally 30 mins with no feedback from our waiter! someone else's waiter noticed us and tried to help. Worst service ever. Spent 2 and a half hours at the restaurant which constituted an hour and a half of JUST WAITING. We had our name erased from the list of people when there were plenty of seats available which delayed us even longer. The food was alright but it took an hour to get us our food. The garlic parmesan fries were so lazily done. We wanted to ask for condiments on the side and other sauces but the workers were all just the kitchen just talking and loitering. They didn't even ask us on how we were doing. I had to stand up and get the server's attention FROM the kitchen or else they would have never came to us. Stay away from this Norm's period. TLDR: This is one of the worst services I've experienced at a restaurant. We were even contemplating just cancelling the order and leaving, but just stayed because we were hungry. read more

If you aren't hungry, like to be ignored and have all the time in the world to wait for a server not to mention that when the food comes all dehydrated sitting under the heat lamp then this restaurant is for you. But since I don't know anyone that subjects themselves to torture knowingly here's a tip, go across the street to McDonalds and get yourself a combo, comes in 5 mins, the fries are crispy hot AND you get a DRINK! Our food wasn't even in the window. The place wasn't even full. The waiter and the manager didn't even walk by to say your food will be up soon. Poor service. Didn't even get a drink refill. This Norms is by far thee worse one I've ever been to. I was with a party of 3 and I decided not to eat after seeing a few factors that disturbed me. First, upon entering the establishment the waiting area has a horrible smell. I'm aware that many people wait there and bc of that many ppl have different body odors as well, some are pleasant and some aren't. So bc of that the door should be opened or air freshener sprayed from time to time. After being seat, I grabbed a menu and it was sticky from syrup..not just my menu all of the menus. The waiter brought out the utensils and my spoon had dried food on it and the rest of the silverware looked unclean. I requested a cup of hot water and a regular water on the side. I placed the silverware in the hot water to allow them to soak and I cleaned them with a napkin. The other water cup I request to drink had coffee debris and stains around the inside of the cup. At this point I was beyond ready to go but I'm a team player so I sucked it up for the sake of enjoying the time with my loved ones. The straw that broke the camels back was that I found hair on top of my fries. I thought I'd be safe with ordering fries but I was wrong. My family was so grossed out they wanted to leave so we left. It's times like this where I think to myself that I should have become a health inspector. The moral of the story is if you visit this Norms keep your eyes open, bring your own silverware and bring your own water bottle OR you can just visit another location all together.. I went to this new Norm's because I love the food.. I was confused when I walked in because I didn't know were the cashier was and to make my reservation.. It took a good 5 to 6mins before someone said something.. But finely a young man asked how many and told me how long.. Said he would come back with children menus.. Another 10mins I asked a waitress for a child menu she said she would get them for me.. Another 10-15mins later my waiter finally came over said they had no child menus.. Why didn't one of the others come back to inform of this??? I was able to order.. Didn't take long for the food my waiter was supposed to be bringing a drinks & condiments over took awhile..apologized said this wasn't his usual area.. again I have to complain about the cleanliness of our booth and around..
