Norms is pretty consistent, service is efficient. My husband loves their pancakes. I've been ordering their Bigger Better Breakfast sandwich. It comes dry so I ask for a side of mayo. The bacon here is terrible, like you'd get at a convention or hotel breakfast buffet. Cooked in large batches and hard/dried out. They have a good fruit cup, nice mix of fruit and not just melon. This 1 star review is for this evening. It does not reflect the many years I have been coming to Norms with family and friends since the 1980s. My husband used to clean the carpets and floors for Norms a few years ago and so he has taken a liking to visiting Norms. We almost went to the Cheesecake Factory but decided on Norms instead. His app said he had a birthday cheesecake waiting for him, so he wanted to redeem it. Today is my husband's birthday. Our server was Nicole. Her customer service was lacking tonight. I'd never seen her before. We usually get Joaquin, who is extremely helpful and knows my husband and my sisters boyfriend on a first name basis. We had a party of 4. Myself, my husband, my sister, and her boyfriend. We were asked what we wanted to drink and we all got our waters. The men got coffee. My husband used to be a server as well as went to culinary arts school, so he is very much about restaurants and watching how he is served, how the wait staff pays attention to detail, and how others are being serviced as well. We weren't ready to order by the time Nicole came back. She said, "I'll give you another minute," and went to help another party. One minute turned into ten. She finally came back to us. My sister's boyfriend ordered fettuccini Alfredo and gumbo. The other soup option was off the menu because they ran out. My sister ordered medium rare steak. I ordered open faced turkey sandwich. My husband ordered a Caesar salad and wanted the appetizer of Hawaiian slider burgers. His coffee cup was empty and sat at the edge of the table waiting for a refill for almost ten minutes. Nobody came to refill it. Because my husband began to make comments, my sister's boyfriend flagged Nicole down to refill my husband's coffee. My sister and her boyfriend recieved their salads. The sliders, which are on the appetizer list, didn't come. We'd assume that they would come before our actual meals. Our food finally arrived, sliders came last. Mid-meal my husband and my sister's boyfriend's coffees were empty. A second time, her boyfriend had to flag Nicole and ask her for more coffee refills. Now, my husband, whom I told to be nice, is getting very irritated. He told my sisters boyfriend, "you shouldn't have to remind your server how to do their job." It's his birthday and his dinner was ruined. So, we finished our meals. My husband ordered his free birthday cheesecake from the app and a super schooner ice cream. My sister and her boyfriend ordered sundaes. The sundaes came and the cheesecake came. I asked where the super schooner ice cream was. Nicole was like, "All I heard was cheesecake to go. Super schooner?" My sister said, "My brother-in-law ordered a super schooner with the cheesecake." Nicole said, "Ok, I'll get that made for you right now. Chocolate or hot fudge?" My husband comes back from being outside, in ear shot and realized I was ordering a super schooner on his behalf...again, and now he's fuming. Nicole walks away. My husband sits down and my sister and her boyfriend finish their sundaes. Still no super schooner. My husband flags Nicole down and said, "We want the bill already." She snaps back, "We are working on your ice cream." He tells her to make the ice cream to go. We sit about five minutes more. I said, "Just tell her to cancel the ice cream. Let's go." Nicole comes back with the ice cream in a coffee cup to go. My sister had full view of the wait staff from where she was sitting and said Nicole didn't start the super schooner till he wanted the check. She had been making salads and taking orders. Nicole told us to have a good night and my husband told her, "Learn to do your job better." She went back to her station in the center of the restaurant and was whispering to Joaquin and someone else, as I was walking out. Then, got quiet as I started to pass. My sister left her a penny. My sister said Nicole has served her before and was just as lax and customer service was bad then, too. Now, I see why she wanted us to go to Cheesecake Factory. Nicole really knew how to mess up what was supposed to be a beautiful birthday dinner. Almost 4 decades of being a faithful customer, and now I'm not comfortable taking anyone to Norms because of one bad experience and a husband who is very much opinionated. Y'all ruined it for us. For real. Nicole, I hope you learn from this huge mishap. I hope this review is a learning lesson. It saddens me that I even had to take it here. It was THAT bad. read more

After dental cleaning appointments, Diane and I went here to mess up our pretty teeth with breakfast items. I had a Classic Breakfast with two good Sunny Side Up Eggs that were almost runny but not quite, very flavorful Turkey Bacon Strips, fine mostly crispy Hash Browns, and buttered Sourdough Toast. I washed my food down with a Large Orange Juice that tasted fresh brewed. Diane ordered a So Cal Breakfast that she liked, with Scrambled Eggs and added cheese, Bacon, Hash Browns, and Buttermilk Pancakes, in addition to two cups of Hot Chocolate. It was too much food for her, so the pancakes went home. Seating was comfortable, prices reasonable, and service very good, except our waitress brought me different jellies than I had asked for. We love our Norms, it's our diner version of "Cheers." Joe was our Server today as he has been many times. He is very smart, warm, kind, attentive and fast. He remembers us and asks "Where have you been haven't seen you for awhile." He instantly remembers our usual order and confirms it. Only 1 server right now? It was 3:15 AM. I got seated quickly and given a menu, but the server never came back. I waited about 10-15 minutes. A couple left as well. My wife and I stopped in while she was meeting with a colleague for lunch. We seated immediately and it was apparent this norms was recently remodeled. They did a really good job! After reviewing the lengthy menu, I decided on their Cobb salad with a bowl of soup and garlic toast while my wife went for three pancakes. Not too busy on a Tuesday afternoon at Norms Restaurant. We got a booth at the front section by the window. We noticed there were just two servers; Carmen and Joaquin, and one that took care of payment counter and hosting. No matter. We want some of the summer time ribs. The lovely missus had the ribs with chicken wings which included soup and salad. Chicken tortilla soup was great as I had the same meal as the missus. I do like the lemon Pepper wings. The ribs were not as meaty as you see in the pix but it was well covered by the Kansas City BBQ sauce. Carmen was busy but we were able to add additional orders to go of the $5.99 noodles and I pulled out my Norms APP and showed the free meal promo. Burnt ends on a bed of rice and an egg on top. No problem with our orders or with service. I did have a slight problem at the payment counter as the young person, Dinh, insisted on verifying my email address... I'm thanking the manager as he sorted things out and verified that I indeed have the email address in the APP. I am sooo SADDDDDD :( My mom and I come to Norms mainly for their pancakes -- it's our little tradition. Tonight was honestly the worst experience we've ever had here. We ordered dinner with soups (chicken tortilla and gumbo), then got a three‑stack of buttermilk pancakes to share. The first batch tasted sour and bitter, even after adding syrup. Our waitress was kind and brought a new batch, but the second set tasted just as sour, which makes me think something was wrong with the batter. Then the table next to us showed us a photo of their chicken tortilla soup with a maggot floating in it. My mom and I had just eaten that same soup, so we left feeling disgusted and sick to our stomachs. This used to be one of our favorite spots, but after tonight, I don't know how we're supposed to come back. read more

came here after snowboarding as i was craving a burger and we didn't get back into town till very late so i decided to try norms for the first time since it's open 24 hours haha. the inside is very similar to your local dennys or ihops and has that kind of old school diner feel. our server was nice, but don't expect top notch service at these kind of establishments (unless they really love what they do or interacting with their guests). food was alright, honestly a lot better tasting and quality than dennys. my burger was a little on the dry side and could've used a bit more sauce but the flavor overall was decent. onion rings were really good though, super crispy and delicious! my boyfriend's steak eggs and hashbrown plate was pretty good as well. he asked the steak to be done medium rare and i'd say they did a pretty good job for how thin the meat was (almost like a skirt steak). eggs, hashbrowns, and hot cakes (not pictured) were also good too; can't really go wrong with those though! i'd come back if i was craving some american diner/breakfast items late at night again. read more

I ordered the country fried steak, well for the first time ever it came with a brown gravy on the mashed potatoes instead of the white gravy that comes on the meat. I forget our waitresses name on our weekday 8pm ish visit but she was amazing. Our waitress at the counter/bar on Sunday was friendly and hardworking but like the entire staff, visibly overwhelmed. Back to weekday visit: The buttermilk pancakes are massive, buttery and fluffy. The country skillet was filling. Coffee was strong and received multiple refills. Classic diner experience. Classic norms. Whatever you do- do not order steak n eggs. Steak is a thin, grey weird piece of meat. If you order medium rare you'll have to have the chefs remake it cuz it comes out well done by the time it comes out right your eggs and hash browns are cold. Going to a classic American diner that's open 24 hours is such a vibe, especially for a late night bite to eat. It was after 10PM and I was surprised at how crowded this place was. The staff were all really nice and attentive. I tried their Melting Pot omelet which was pretty flavorful with lots of meat. Their hash browns were also fresh and just crispy enough.
