We've eaten here a few times and the food is always so good. Marco always helps us out and gives the best service.

Jackie was outstanding--friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect. Her warm service truly enhanced our dining experience.

Good food at great prices, and they're open late. Service is usually very quick but sometimes they get pretty busy. I love their gumbo soup and thousand islands dressing for the salad. I feel like they have the best thousand island here. read more

Unbelievable intentionally rude seating service upon walking into this now understandable struggling Norms restaurant. I met my wife for dinner on a Thursday night at about 5:30 pm or so and my wife went inside to get us a table for 2 before i arrived. She was told by the girl at the front it would be about 5 minutes to get a seat. Upon me walking in my wife was still waiting to be seated for about 10 minutes and was the only one waiting in the lobby. After i joined her we sat for another 10 minutes so for a total of 20 minutes waiting and being looked at and ignored we decided to stand up and ask if we were going to get a seat and she the greeter kept walking away from us and turning her back to intentionally ignore us. The restaurant was not even close to being full maybe not even 1/3 close to capacity and the greeter girl was taking in people to seat them and going right in instantly before us 2 times. We then got up to leave and noticed the 2 cooks were staring at us behind the counter not cooking doing nothing just staring at us like we were in the wrong restaurant. Upon leaving i noticed the seating or anti greeter girl was Hispanic was only seating hispanics because she seated another hispanic person right away who passed us by at the door when we left. In all my life I've never been treated this bad and intentionally at a restaurant ever. There is something very wrong with this restaurant and i think the owner of this restaurant should go and see for themselves. We will never go back to this restaurant ever. read more

When we arrived a gentleman told us we would be seated within 10 minutes. It actually took over 30 minutes and when we were sat over half the tables were empty and there were still about 10 groups waiting to be seated. We ordered our food and then our server disappeared. A table that was sat about 15 minutes after us received their food while we were still waiting and wondering where our server went. She reappeared about an hour later and finally realized that we didnt have our food yet. When we finally got our food it was ice cold. We said screw it and let them know we didn't want it anymore and got up and left. This was hand down the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. read more

Staff here for some reason doesn't acknowledge customers coming in. After waiting for 15 minutes, two people came in and got seated right away even though they clearly see me sitting down. I drive down the street to Sammy's Stackhouse and got acknowledged and served right away. This was my spot for over 13 years but is no longer. read more

I've been a life long Norm's customer as was my Folks. My Father knew the original owner of Norm's in Newport Beach. Norms has always had the slogan "We Never Close". I guess the pandemic fixed that and the new owners which have ruined the chain. I walked in at 10:30 pm on a Friday night to get soup and salad and half sandwich combo and the Hostess told me they were closed. Sign says they close at 11 pm. Took my business elsewhere. read more

The food was just ok this time around. I felt like their pancakes were so overcooked and their sausage links were terrible and almost inedible, they actually sucked. The kids had buttered toast that, well, I'm not sure what they used as butter but it wasn't pleasant to look at or eat. This is our first time eating at Norms where it totally sucked! Service was bad and I see nothing here where I would even want to come back to this location. Came after a long day at disneyland. Disgusted, disappointed and still hungry. My husband was served food in a dirty bowl. All the toast ordered was burnt and my steak was raw. Do not recommend this location at all. read more

The food was amazing especially the pancakes that are served with the lumberjack breakfast! The atmosphere of the restaurant was really perfect and calm, it almost felt as if I was eating back at home. The service was also fenomenal especially our server April. She was very nice and attentive to not just our table but all the other tables she was serving. Will definitely come back to eat more of their delicious pancakes and hope to be treated the same as we were treated by our wonderful server April. read more

Service was very slow. Mind you not busy in here what so ever. There's probably 6 other tables and us here. Server checked up on once. I needed a refill of my drink and she was no where to be found. The one star is because there was no option to leave no stars. I ordered the SoCal Breakfast which is 2 eggs, Hashbrowns, choice of bacon or sausage, and pancakes or toast. When I received my meal everything except the turkey sausage was cold. The toast was drenched with some sort of melted butter substance. When I picked up the toast up whatever "butter" was on there actually dripped off. It made my stomach turn. This was my first experience at this location and will also be my last. read more

Be aware when you pay on their POS system and add tip! Their POS system is rigged. The lowest possible tip amount is 15% which was $5.24 written on the screen. Our total was $25.83, so the 15% button charged 20.3% tip which we would never intended to give since we have seen our server once, and the food was not so good. Beside the 20% tip, the screen showed $6.48, which is equal to 25% tip... Be aware! read more

This place is no longer the Norm's of old!! Service was fair and could have been better since the place was practically empty at noon. Had the Bigger Better Breakfast. "Bigger" does not apply since they cut down the portions. "Better" definitely does not apply since I got under cooked cold hash browns and sour dough toast that was like they just waved the bread over the toaster then put it on a plate. They didn't even bother to butter it. I got a little dollop of butter on the side. I made it a point to tip well to give the waitress a little extra money while she transitions into another job after they close this place down. read more

I had patty melt sandwich for lunch the other day at this location. The sandwich was very poorly made and the waitress really offered no service other than to put the food on the table. Very poor for Norm's! The Costa Mesa location is excellent in providing good food and service. I would assume that the man being the cashier was probably the manager and he was probably the cause of the poor service in particular. Very dead personality! The entire place including the restroom is just tired and needs to be remodeled. Again, the location in Costa Mesa is excellent! read more

We frequent norms in orange on katella Ave as it's super close to our house and our grandkids love it. We visited for Christmas breakfast and had a fantastic experience. We're a picky family and from the start the host did a great job. One of our family members has a service dog and we requested a different table and were accommodated immediately. Giovanna was our server and was friendly and accommodated all our special orders. Overall it was a great experience and we highly recommend this norm's location. read more

I've been to a few Norms restaurants in the past, usually while on the way home late at night after a concert or a boxing match or something like that. Back before everyone had a computer in their pocket, it was a welcome relief to pull off the freeway, cruise through some random hood, and come across a glowing Norms sign. The food wasn't the best, but you got a plate of warm food and left with a full belly. This trip, there was only my +1 and I and it took about 15 minutes to be seated though the place didn't seem busy. Service wasn't the fastest, either. It took 10-15 minutes to get our orders in and our drinks were slow to be refilled. My +1 ordered strawberry waffles but the stuff tasted canned and bland. My chicken fried steak and eggs were decent, but not as good as IHOP or Denny's. Also, this doesn't pertain directly to the establishment, but the crowd was... interesting. Overall, I was a bit disappointed with the quality and service, hence my 2-star rating. I'll stick with one of the other late night diners if I can help it. read more

Everytime I come with my girlfriend it's a pleasant and fun time. We usually come late in the evening/night when it's a bit slower and quiet and the service is perfect. I seriously tried to give this Norm's another chance. I really am trying to like you since you are so close to me...but... Came here for the AYCE ribs, boneless chicken wings and fried shrimp dinner for $13.99. - Seriously had some downs and a few ups towards the end Service was stellar, even though they were super busy, I was well tended to. - 4.5 stars Round 1 you get to order 2 items. Then it's 1 item at a time. - You get soup and salad * Soup was chicken gumbo, pretty good * Salad was the bagged salad kind, w a few pcs of red cabbage (some tomatoes, onions, carrots would have been nice) * The honey mustard dressing made it good - It automatically comes w fries and cole slaw * My ribs (smaller portion, looks nothing like the pic) were room temp, the fries were room temp and the cole slaw was warm w very little mayo/dressing * It comes w a ranch sauce (tasty but watery) and cocktail sauce done right * fried shrimp was good - The boneless chicken wings are actually chicken tenders. But it had so much coating once i ripped it off because it was rock hard, I barely had any chicken and I came to found out it's breast meat * It was moist inside and good once dipped in a sauce For the life of me, I didn't ask for more fries and cole slaw but they kept bringing it w each item I ordered and w more sauces. * Nice of them but wasteful * Felt bad Well by the 4th round most things got better: HOT FRIES and COLD Cole Slaw. - But then one of my shrimps was undercooked, slightly raw Oh well. I know their kitchen staff has a lot going on. I'd comment on my steak and eggs or my other family members salmon, country fried steak, and cob salad but I never got the chance to even order. 15 minute wait on a Sunday after church, not bad. Placing us in the back of the dinning room on a warped table, eh. Ignoring us completely and attending to two parties that came in after us? Come on now! I realizes this isn't a 3 star Micheline restaurant but at least get our drink order in! 15 minutes waiting and watching others get serviced for a $5 tip and we're about to order $125 worth of food at Norms...5 of us $25 a pop. I realize your a waitress and it might look like a lot of work but your tip would be $25-30 vs a $5 tip, kinda worth it don't you think? I get your busy, I get they gave you too many tables, I get that you're tired...I was going to give you a fat tip like I always try to do for servers but being ignored? Wow, lots of folks beating up on Norm's. hey, Norm's is Norms it's not a steak house, a pancake house or a hamburger stand. It doesn't specialize in Mexican food, Italian or German. Norm's serves comfort food. Your grandma's house food. Hot food, generous portions in a reasonable amount of time. You can order pancakes, your spouse a steak and baked potato and your kids a tuna sandwich all at the same time. What a variety. I cooked in restaurants and that adds to the excitement in the kitchen. Today I had steak and eggs. It took a while but it came hot and fresh.The store is clean but dated. The staff tends to be middle aged but polite. The food was good, served with 4 different brands of hot sauce but I stuck with the ketchup. If you are looking for imported butter or grass fed beef go to ruth's Chris steakhouse. Need a burger, go to Next Burger or in n out. You want a good meal in a comfortable setting ,go to Norms. read more
