Never had any bad service or food at Norm's prior to visiting this location. Store was not busy at all at 11:45 AM, finally acknowledged four minutes later when the four waitresses finally stopped chatting. When my husband and I were finally seated it took five minutes before our waitress came to take our drink order and she had to repeat it twice and said it wrong both times, how hard is it to remember a diet coke and an iced tea! When she brought our drinks, we were ready to order, very easy, club sandwich with fries and fish and chips. Twenty odd minutes late she brings the food out and everything was room temperature and the bacon on the club was stale! Norm's management, this store needs the wait staff to be retrained. Went here for breakfast it was not good not your typical Norm's I've been to my wife and myself ordered the sausage egg and biscuits and gravy breakfast first off we waited about 10 minutes to place our orders then it took them 30 minutes to make it the place was dam near empty watched my food up in the window for 15 minutes getting cold by the time we got our food it was cold and not worth $21 I payed also they would not give me my 10 percent seniors discount but my wife did say the coffee was good, so needless to say I will not be going to any norms restaurant again if I could give this place a minus stars I would. read more

I really liked it here. The Strawberry Hot Cakes were amazing and the Breakfast Burrito was mediocre. My only concern is that the Strawberry Hot Cakes were super big and it was on the kids menu! Came to Norms with my wife and my son, It took 20 minutes to get seated, even though several booths were open.When we finally got seated and ordered, we specifically said no cheese like 2-3 times. Not only that they took forever with our orders but it had cheese on them. And our eggs that were supposed to be scrambled came all watery and not cooked right ,Our server who was wearing Orange shirt that I didn't get the name mark with" Staff on the back " Black hair and tattoo lower left arm was rude and gave us attitude when handing us the receipt. I came here to get a steak. I have been coming to this location for years and after tonight...I doubt I'll be back. I was alone... The restaurant was at 1/3rd capacity and there were only 2 servers on duty for the supper shift. The person who asked greeted me when I came in said it would be 15 minutes to be seated. She was abrupt and less than empathetic. I get it... You're one of 2 servers. Most of the tables were empty. Something has changed for the worse. We have been here twice in the last few weeks. Both times poor service from two different servers. And today we and two other groups received wrong orders. I came in for breakfast yesterday and got pancakes, sausage, and hash browns. The sausage was perfectly seared with a little bit of char on it. pancakes were ehh but once I put on that strawberry and whipped cream pancake topping, it made it 10x times better! read more

Norms is just consistent. No frills and not gimicky and the food is affordable. Had the bigger better breakfast for 9.99 with hot cakes, 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, and a slice of ham and hash browns. Pretty affordable in my book. Coffee is Farmer Bros. which is always good. The order: Habanero Bacon Cheeseburger, Patty Melt Waiter asked how we wanted our burgers cooked: Medium Rare Well, things certainly have changed at Norms since new ownership took over a few years ago. But not for the better. Instead of the big juicy patties we used to enjoy, we were served two skinny, horribly overcooked patties instead. They were awful. So awful, it will be a while before we come back. And the pleasure cost nearly $40. Our waiter was very good. Would have given a 5 star, but the service did take a bit long. Overall, we had a great experience! Our waiter was friendly and very kind. He was clearly running around a lot. They seemed a little understaffed because he was on the go nonstop. The busser was great and super on top of the tables! Went for breakfast at 7am only one waitress working terrible service. She was not nice at all but when her regular customers came in she treated them so well and laughed with them served them totally different. I was so annoyed with her double standards. Came in today with my family for a late breakfast. The wait was not bad at all which was great since we had previously gone somewhere else where the wait was going to be 45 min. Once we were seated the waitress (who was great btw) took our drink orders then gave us a few minutes and got our food order. There was quite a bit of a wait for the food I'd say maybe 30 minutes, but that's prob due to the rush at the time. Once our food arrived we dug in which is where I'm giving the 2 stars. The hashbrows had zero flavor as well as the super small portion of eggs. My sibling had some steak which wasn't fully cooked (ordered well done). I did enjoy the pancakes, bacon (crispy) and sausage. The service at checkout was rushed, as she was on the phone and wasn't able to get my coupon (for checking in) due to me getting rushed to pay and her being distracted with the phone. The Normas breakfast is very decent. We've always gotten the SoCal breakfast or the bigger better breakfast and had a good experience! You do get a lot of food for your money! The online ordering is a little annoying because it doesn't have the kids menu, but they have a nice kids menu in store, they keep the restaurant itself nice and clean. Parking here can be a little tricky, but in general this is a really nice breakfast place and not too expensive. read more

So I came here for lunch. I ordered an omelette with home style potatoes and pancakes. Hm....omelette was ok, potatoes were hard. I wasn't irate, I wasn't rude, but I did speak up to our waitress. She then said if I wanted hash browns, I said, ok why not. Hm....they were burnt. Really. I mean come on, visually you can see that it was burnt. This Norms is always packed so it takes a while to be seated but all of the staff there are really nice ! The pancakes are super delicious! And I always get a side of strawberries and whip cream for them. They also have a few arcade machines in the lobby. We played after we were done eating and my son won a prize of a game worth up to $75 for 3 different consoles. Pretty cool. Overall a good diner! read more

My family have been customers of Norm's for over 12 years. But I will not be dining at this establishment again. Out experience has been fantastic until covid 19 happened. My family ordered delivery 3 times. Each time the food was not cooked properly, items were missing, and the quantity of food was poor. For example, I ordered strawberry waffles and either was given barely any strawberry or whipped cream. The last time the strawberries and whipped cream were missing. The food quality is also poor. My husband's hash browns were undercooked. The last time half his sausage was missing. All the food was stone cold also. Food should look appetizing, and on all three occasions it was thrown into a container literally. The last time I left a review the manager blamed the third party for the condition of the food. I worked in food delivery during Covid 19 we are not allowed to open the bag and check on the order for safety reasons. So of there are missing items that is the eatery's responsibility. I will not be ordering or dining here ever again. When we order food it is to splurge. For this to happen three times means that there is no care or importance on food quality or keeping long term customers happy. The manager takes no responsibility instead of apologizing and counseling his employees to correct their carelessness. I would be embarrassed and ashamed if I was manager. Congrats!! Ordered food for pickup this morning for myself and a few coworkers. I'm a huge fans of norms in whittier, and the portions that I've always received were not there at all today. I ordered the combo of 2 pieces of bacon, 2 eggs, hash browns, and hot cakes. I must have just been getting the leftovers off someone else's plate because this is only a full order for a toddler. Giving them credit as the food was prepared before my scheduled pickup time (albeit my food was cold by the time we got back) and the service was very sweet. Just can't justify this as a $10 breakfast. Bummer, and won't be using any online ordering for norms soon. read more

We stopped to eat at Norms Restaurant 1550 E. Katella in Orange. The nice manager allowed me to take some photos. Luis our server was super nice and friendly so that I was able to order our meals. I gave this location a Five Star for great service and good food. Appetizer: I ordered: A small green salad with Chicken Gumbo. I added Italian Dressing to my salad and was very tasty. Also; Chicken Gumbo Soup; A little spicy but oh so good. Entrée: I ordered: New Your Steak & Shrimp Plate; The steak was cook medium and was flavorful. The shrimp was breaded and fried to perfection. included; zucchini and a baked potato. they were tasty. I drank a Diet Pepsi to balance my meal. Diana ordered: Mushroom Spinach & Swiss omelet sautéed mushrooms, baby spinach, and swiss cheese. included; fruit bowl & English muffin. A good combination of flavors. Diana drank a Diet Pepsi with her meal. Dessert: I ordered a Red Velvet Cake topped with cream cheese and whipped cream. it was soft, sweet, and so delicious . Opened 24 hours! I prefer Norms over Denny's--They have more options and I think their food is much better than Denny's.. You get more bang for your bucks... Stopped by here after a night out since its around the corner from my house...Kinda reminds me of Vegas because they have steak and eggs special for a good price and it may come with toast and pancakes... and many of their dinner entrees come with soup and salad... yes both...I ordered the chicken parmesan and I was very satisfied...Even though the menu said it was served from 11am-11pm daily, they were able to make it for me at 2am... And it came with garlic cheese toast, a side salad and soup, which I got the gumbo and that was good too!! The portions are huge!!! I shared my meal and was able to take it home for breakfast/lunch the next day. The parm chicken was crunchy and the sauce was delicious! Good Stuff!! It's Norms! Norms definitely has its share of customers with interesting personalities. That said, this is definitely one of the nicer Norms. I always love the soup and salad at Norms! When I come to Norms, I alway order a meal that includes their soup and salad. The Caesar salad is my favorite! Delicious Caesars dressing with lots of parmesan cheese. I always enjoy drinking their navy bean soup or chicken soup. For sides, I love to get their mashed potatoes with brown gravy. These 3 fabulous tasting food items keep me coming back. Download the Norms app and check in when you pay to earn rewards. They also occasionally email coupon deals. They also serve early dinner specials from 2-6pm on weekdays. This is about a $2-3 savings from their regular dinner menu. My only con is that they recently added a mandatory 3% surcharge "to offset the increased costs of doing business in CA." Rather than doing this, I would prefer the restaurant be upfront with the prices by putting how much you're going to pay exactly onto the menu prices. It feels as if they're lying about their advertised prices. I don't see any other restaurants doing this and I don't think this is a good practice. read more

I got breakfast and food was great, portions were hearty, and my server was amazing. She frequently came by to check how i was doing and refilled my coffee a few times. She was efficient and very kind. 5 stars for this. I had to lower to 3 stars due to my checkout/payment experience. There was one gentleman in front of me paying, I was waiting behind him to pay. Once he was done I was stepping towards the counter and another gentleman who was walking up from their dining table, not in line to pay, gave the employee at the register their receipt. The employee, Kim, started helping them out when I was clearly next to pay. I figured maybe she did not see me so I said " Oh, sorry I was next" she just said "ok" and continued to help the gentleman. I didn't think she understood me so I said "I have been waiting in line to pay, the gentleman came after me." I kid you not she said "You can wait".
