Ordered through GrubHub last night and thought the food was less than mediocre. They give huge portions of bad food. The orange chicken was mostly breading and sauce and when we did find a piece of chicken it was rubbery or stringy. We threw out most of this dish. The 4 pieces of broccoli in the dish were pure mush. We also ordered Thai Spicy Basil Chow Fuun with chicken. It was better than the orange chicken but still bad. Flavorless sauce and overcooked vegetables. The basil was the tastiest part of this dish. The pork egg rolls were cooked properly but again, the filling was pretty tasteless. It won't compare to somewhere like duck duck goat but its the best chinese food you are going to find in the area. The egg rolls are really good. I highly recommend the beef fried rice and the sweet and sour chicken. We haven't had anything that we haven't liked so far. Pains me to write this but this place is just average. There is a huge shortage of good Chinese food up in the north shore of Chicago and this place opened up not too long ago and I was excited to try it. The menu is has a ton of variety, with options from Chinese to Thai to Japanese to Korean, but honestly I think the menu is really too much - they do a lot of things but they don't do anything amazingly. I don't think the Korean or Japanese dishes are that great. If I were to order from them again I'd stick with the Chinese dishes. I also think it is a little pricy for what you get. read more

I was craving pho but I didn't want to go to Uptown Chicago. This place was pretty close to our house so we decided to try it out. My husband ordered Mango chicken and cantaloupe tea while I ordered pork egg rolls and Pho with rare beef. My pho was pretty good. The meat was decent quality. The soup was a slight bland but it was fine. I only wish they had more veggies or give it to me on the side so I can add it myself. My pork eggrolls had a lot of taro in it, which I don't mind. But those that do it is for you. I enjoyed what I ordered, but my husband did not care for the mango chicken. He said they were a little lazy with the mangoes. 1. There weren't enough mangoes pieces and 2. they were chopped so large the flavor wasn't mixed well. He did however, enjoyed his drink. There were fresher fruit pieces in it. The restaurant is rather small but modern and clean. I did have issue with the fact that both bathrooms were closed....Is that legal?! Now the Food. The flavor was on point, the prices are a little high but are what you would expect from the location. Now lets be honest a moment about the ubiquitous 'fillers'.. you know what I am talking about: Celery, carrots, green onion, onions etc... Any time you buy Chinese you end up with an inordinate amount of one vegetable or the other as filler, the one that drives me nuts is celery. North point seems to have an in with the Vidalia cartel, as in ONIONS! Have you been told about your one and only savior: onions? Serious devotion to this root veg. Every dish we got from the scallops to the beef was composed of at least 40% onions. Now I love onions but I do prefer onions that have been browned up and cooked for a while to get the sugars out and not just quarter inch slivers that have been quickly wok sauteed. I've been searching for six long years for a great Chinese/Asian restaurant in this area - and the search is finally over! We lived in Chinatown for ten years before moving back to this area and were accustomed to having a variety of Chinese restaurants with delicious and affordable food just steps from our door. North Point Chopsticks is easily accessible, located in a strip mall just off of Waukegan and Westleigh by Giordano's. There is plenty of free parking. The atmosphere is clean and modern. The people who own North Point Chopsticks know what they're doing: the food is as good as- if not better - than anything you'd find in Chinatown; it is prepared quickly; and, it is affordable. In addition, they are running a 10% off your total bill promotion until October 1, 2016. If you like a giant variety of Asian food including Chinese, Malaysian, Korean, and Vietnamese, you will find something you like here. There are so many choices, you will have no difficulty finding something you like. As for the drink menu, who needs Starbucks when you have countless options of Milk Teas, Fruit Freezes, and Smoothies that you can customize with lychee jelly or strawberry popping boba, just to name a few. I'm skeptical of any restaurant that has multiple cuisines to choose from, but this place is legit. We've only tried the Vietnamese, Thai, and Chinese options but all have been good. It's very clean and the food isn't overly greasy or salty. I know people who grew up in Glenview and are partial to the places from their youth, but I've tried the other Chinese options in town and from an outside and unbiased opinion, this place is your best option. read more

This is a nice small spot with all different cuisines, so there's something for everybody. They got chinese, korean, japanese, thai, and vietnamese food. I started with the hot and sour soup. Very generous portion and it's the best hot and sour soup I've had with of course extra sriracha added in. The broth has such a delicious flavor and the chicken in it isn't dried out. For mains, I got the kung pao chicken which had a very good spice to eat and even though it was chicken breast, it wasn't dried out. I also got the korean kimichi beef which I wish had a little bit more of a spicy flavor. For me it kind of just tasted like mongolian beef with cabbage in it. My husband took me here for the first time and I absolutely LOVED IT! He had already been here a couple of times before but in knowing that I love Asian food, he thought to take me here to try it. First of all, their menu is absolutely amazing in what it has to offer! We tried a variety of appetizers which weren't so small. The popcorn chicken was fantastic! Even for such a simple dish, this place puts a unique twist on it with their spices. We also tried their Tom Yum Seafood soup and the Vietnamese Spring Rolls. Everything tasted wonderful! My friends and I came here during waiting for a dance show we were a part of. We had an extremely big party and although the restaurant was empty when we got there, I was still impressed they were able to serve us all promptly and efficiently, since I know big parties can be a pain for restaurants. To be honest, I am writing this review in December because I forgot to finish it when I visited all the way in July, but I have nothing but good things to say from what I can remember! I came on a sunday for lunch. It was half filled. No wait. It reminded me of joyees, everything from their decor to the menu. I ordered pho with brisket. I expected to see it arrive with an accompaniment of the typical mung bean sprouts, Thai basil, and lime. But instead my bowl of pho arrived with bean sprouts already in my bowl and no fresh vegetable side plate which was disappointing. As for the actual broth, it was just ok. We also ordered the garlic chicken wings which had a decent flavor but the breading was a bit soggy. I've been here twice, and both times the place just fell short. I don't understand the good reviews. The first time I ate here was when I picked up some dinner on the way home from work. I had gotten one of their takeout menus in the mail and per good yelp reviews decided to try it. Their menu is extensive, stretching across all corners of asia, which to me is already a red flag. No restaurant can successfully execute multiple varieties of cuisine. They might specialize in say, Chinese but their Thai or Korean dishes generally miss the mark. I'm more of a purist if it comes to these types of places. Stick to one thing and do it right. I ordered the szechuan chicken, my mom the bulgogi. First things first, portions are enormous. Easily enough to feed two adults. Mom and I both had leftovers for lunch the next day. Secondly, the quality of the produce and protein that they use in their dishes is high and super fresh so that's another plus. The problem with both dishes were taste. My chicken tasted like it was swimming in oil that had a spicy after taste to it. No other savory flavors whatsoever. My mom's bulgogi wasn't much better. It too, was bland. Not to mention, they give enormous amounts of rice with their dishes which is probably another thing that fills you up. Even soy sauce didn't help the blandness. First time around I figured I ordered the wrong dish so I went for thai food my second time here. I ordered basil chicken over rice, and again a huge portion with large chunks of chicken and fresh veggies. The one thing about thai food is it's very flavorful because it's very simply seasoned. Authentic Thai food should tackle all major tastes (sweet, salty sour etc.). Again my dish was bland, even after I asked for it extra spicy. The sauce that came with it had no sweet salty spicy flavor I'm used to with basil chicken. They even gave me packets of soy sauce! Can't say I've ever been to a Thai restaurant where soy sauce is provided with the food. Another sign of an unauthentic place. All in all, If I'm paying a premium (10-12 dollars an entree), I expect at the very least flavorful food. Unfortunately quality and quantity don't make up for a lack of flavor here. Sorry Northpoint, I wish you success, but until you add more flavor to your food I won't be back. read more
