My husband and I are regulars because we come at least one or twice a week when we crave a "diner" meal. He gets either a burger or one of the "meaty" dinners. I never get the same thing twice. But I have noticed that the quality of service has gone down as the prices have increased. The last straw was this week when my husband ordered one of the meat dinners. The waitress, who really needs a class in customer service, brings him the soup and salad. After he's started on his food, she tells him they're out of that meat dish. So he orders the only other meat dish on the menu. She comes back ten minutes later and tells him "we're out of that too.'' You couldn't tell us this when we got the menus? So my husband orders a sandwich. She says "you're going to be charged for your soup and salad." Ok, sure, whatever. But when the bill came, she charged us almost SEVEN DOLLARS for a TINY side salad that was supposed to have come with a dinner meal. On top of the sandwich, the beverage, the soup. He ended up paying over $25 bucks when he would have paid less than that for the entire dinner. And gotten LESS FOOD. Are you SERIOUS? Seven bucks for a SIDE SALAD? I was furious but my husband let it go because he didn't want to upset the manager. We paid the bill. NOTE TO MANAGER: When you don't' properly train your waitstaff on what is left in the kitchen, then DON"T CHARGE your customers extra for the fault of the waiter. That's just wrong. If your waitress wants to pad her tip, perhaps improved customer service might do the trick, I for one felt like we got the old bait and switch. Why give me a dinner menu when you don't have the items you are advertising? I for one am not going back there for a while. The other waiter they have is a real gentleman. Been here a bunch of times now. I've never had a problem getting a seat, unlike the rival Blue Bay Diner, which is very often packed. Their Greek salad with chicken is nice, big, and refreshing and comes with 2 stuffed grape leaves. The lobster bisque is a thick puree, likely from a mix - the opposite of what I was expecting, but I still liked it a lot. The Greek chicken lemon soup is done better, more like homemade - good and lemony. The chicken gyro really hits the spot. The chicken is cut into scallops and then stacked into the pita - I've never seen it done that way before. I'm a fan of their mashed potatoes, which comes with a side of dark rich gravy - twice now I've ordered it alone! It's a nice generous serving when ordered as a side. I wish they put more effort into their drinks - the strawberry milk shake tastes like it was made with strawberry powder, not real strawberries or ice cream. Egg cream was disappointing, too, like it was made in 2 seconds without any thought. Both are served in kind of unappealing plastic "glasses" - would it be so hard to put these diner classics in a real glass? This is a typical, super-busy diner, so servers are switched out constantly, which is confusing. I wish the servers could also be more attentive, especially with refilling water. I've been a loyal customer for over 20 years and been there at all hours of the day and night and and confidently say this is the best diner in the area, hands down! This was the last diner in the area left for us to try and we were hungry so why not. They pimped out for the holidays with all the decor and the spray paint on the window to compensate for their lack of tastiness and customer service. we got the nets, belgian waffles with strawberries, and a clam chowder. not surprised to see that the clam chowder was all potatoes and very little clams... also it had a very watery texture and taste. the belgian waffles werent as fluffy as we wanted it to be, and actually a little dry. the nets, which was supposed to be a corned beef and pastrami sandwich with sauerkraut, had meat that was only one color. so when we brought this to the waiters attention, he basically lied saying that the corned beef and pastrami were both brown, which couldn't have been possible unless the pastrami was expired. anyways, this really had no taste, and we couldn't finish a half and ended up throwing it out cus it wasn't worth even saving. for the cherry on top, it was extremely difficult to flag down any waiter for water or even to get the check. they were too busy talking to each other, texting and laughing. WILL NEVER COME BACK. there's too many similiar places nearby, and even if they are closed, i'd much rather eat at mcdonalds and save my money from this joke of a place. read more

Hair in my food!!! Nothing is worse than being hungry, digging into what appears to be delicious homefries and finding a black hair in between your potatoes. They removed it from my bill but who cares! That's disgusting! Then they came over and told me it's a fiber from someone's sweater...... So the cooks are back there in sweaters? Give me a break! I had lost my engagement ring at north shore diner in November 2017...I had called the place and a older man pick up telling him I had lost it there and where I was sitting I kindly told him can he please ask the bus boy or the Valet parking guy or anyone else that was working if they had found it and he started to tell at me telling me his workers are Loyal and that they been working there for many year and they would never do that...that's no way to speak to someone like that ..I didn't deserve that shit... after that day I've never went back read more

I attempted to eat at this diner with my family. I am a paraplegic and have a service dog to help with my disability. The hostess told me I could not come into their restaurant without "paper work" for my service dog. This is against FEDERAL law and is a civil rights violation. I told the hostess that this was illegal and she did not care and told me I could not come in. This is absolutely not okay and discrimination against me because of my disability. A federal civil rights complaint was filed and police were called. read more

Let me just say... Tata is the best. No, get your mind out of the gutter, that's the nickname of my favorite waitress! Seriously, just ask for Tata when you walk in and if she's working you'll become a fan. She's great. Like all restaurants you can catch an off night and get a meal or server that's not at 100%... I've been going to the North Shore on and off for years... and like with many things it's mainly about the customer service you get. This place is one of the greatest diners in all of NY! I have been going here about 22 yrs now and never got a bad meal. Every single employee that has ever worked here over the years since iv been going here have been welcoming, polite and just an absolute pleasure to be around. Every employee here has always bent over backwards to help me and my company even though we don't demand much. Oh, and did I mention I have never had a bad meal here? The quality of the food is right up there with the best of them! I must say that the last time I was there (on Sunday Jan. 20th) I sat next to a crazy lady that claimed they brought her the wrong order (even though I don't think they did). She was obviously an unreasonable person that is impossible to please and looking for problems. They instantly corrected her order with a smile and she continued to flip out and demand to speak to the owner. I felt so bad for her waiter that had to deal with this angry confrontational woman. She just kept screaming out how everyone knows her and how important of a customer she is and how can this man bring her the wrong order? She said that she has been going here for 15 yrs and will not return until the waiter that helped her is fired. She told the entire restaurant that she goes online and blogs and she will blog about this waiter, yelp about this waiter and she won't stop until he is fired. I have had this waiter in the past and he is such a gentleman. I witnessed this whole incident and he was nothing but a gentleman. If the owner of this restaurant sees this, please don't let anything happen to this man!!! As she screamed and flipped out for 20 min straight as the staff tried to please her I heard her yell that she will go on yelp to tell the world how horrible this waiter is. Been coming here for 30 years and never had one complaint. Clean, typical diner but always found the food way above par for just a diner. The French Toast is great as well as many different omelets, to fish and meatloaf dinners. Wonderful place to hangout with old school atmosphere. read more

Big fan here. Not sure whats with the bad ratings but, I can only speak for my experiences and its been great. I always get the Jets sandwich which is huge and packed! I go for the curly fries with it. Food is delicious! The service there is wonderful. I usually order a side of gravy which is tasty to dip fries in. They, for some reason always forget to bring that out. It depends on the waiter. One guy there is so professional and friendly. I always go here if im looking for dinner food. Parking can be tough. Walk in with a party of 5 around Midnight last night. Seated quickly enough. We were excited having just come form a show. We placed our orders. Our waiter was nice enough. I ordered "The Mets" Sandwich. Roastbeef, Cooked Onions w/BBQ sause. My Daughter ordered Cheese Fried with brown gravy. (Disco Fries.) The Fries came with a couple of slices of cheese placed on top. I am unsure how unmelted piece of cheese on top of warm fries can be thought to be "Cheese Fries". We asked the waiter if the cheese could be melted a bit more. So he took it and returned it with the cheese now blackened from being placed under a broiler. He then tried to say the american cheese does not melt the way mozzarella would. What? What does that mean?? Then once asked he went and got the gravy. "The Mets" It was missing the BBQ sauce. When I brought this to his attention he walked off and brought me 2 little plastic containers of BBQ sauce. If I want to make the sandwich myself, I would have gone home to eat. Wrap Up: It seemed no one there cared about giving good service. It appears that the cook staff takes no pride in their work. And you have to at some degree prepare your own food. I ordered a chicken soup and not twenty mins later I was sick to my stomach in the bathroom all night. NEVER AGAIN! Clearly something was wrong with the soup because it's pretty rare that a soup will make you that sick. Perhaps left out too long, not a cleanly area around it, or just plain bad. This is very good diner food. I came here on a Sunday morning and luckily they have valet parking. Our group of 6 was quickly accommodated. This is one of my favorite diners around Queens and Nassau County. This place is always crowded and is vey delicious. It is pricey, so watch out for that if going just for a quick bite. Anyway, the decor is very casual with quite a large diner room. The service is great and compassionate of your needs. The food is great, above the typical diner standard for food. The portions are quite large. The Mediterranean chicken is delicious. I also enjoy their soups, salads, burgers, and their wide selection of entrees. I come here about once a month and it is worth coming here. read more

This has been my go to diner for years now. There aren't many good diner around now, that are worth the price, available in terms of time and location, and food quality. It's diner food. Not sure what one would suggest but my usual is Carson City Chicken. I'd stay away from the special items that are too expensive anyways. The wraps are good, and so are the 'New York Specials.' The wait staff is great - just be polite and you'll have no problems. The wait staff is one of the best parts of the diner in my opinion - but maybe because I'm a usual. It's 24-hours so you really can't beat that when you're looking for a spot to eat late at night. All in all, I highly recommend this place. Anyone that has reviewed this place negatively, is expecting too much from a diner. It's not a gourmet meal - it's relatively good quality, with great service and an awesome time when you come in big groups. read more

I ordered the #1 breakfast special, two eggs, toast, potatoes, orange juice and coffee for $8.95 plus tax. The food arrived in around 15 minutes. Sent the eggs back because they were not "over hard" as requested, the waiter apologized and returned in around seven minutes. The potatoes were bland and the coffee cup, splattered with coffee around the mug, appeared as if a toddler had poured the beverage. The juice was from concentrate, nothing to sing and cheer about. I came here to catch up with some old friends over a late night breakfast. I got my Western Omelet. It looked a little sad and was a little disappointed. Came for Sunday brunch with a group of 20 and had a positive dining experience. Food and service were both good. Prices were very reasonable. Omelettes, pancakes, sandwiches, chicken fingers, salads - all of us from kids to grandparents were happy with their meals. Seating area is spacious and accommodating for large groups.
