We opted for the 2 hour trail ride through Coconino National forest, and it was beautiful. Our guide Chris was super friendly and helpful; we had many great conversations throughout the ride. He is very knowledgeable about the area and made it even more enjoyable. Highly recommend coming here if you love horseback riding or just want to disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature. It was so peaceful and relaxing! Will be back

I have kept my mare at this facility for well over a year and she has had a few health issues unrelated to her care. Through all the problems, Julie and Michelle were most supportive and went out of their way to stay extra hours make extra barn checks and help me in any way possible. They work diligently to improve every facet of care and upkeep at this wonderful facility. I have watched their riders and horses of all ages improve in every way consistently and with much success. By enforcing professionally recommended vaccination protocols I knew my mare would not be exposed to non-vaccinated horses. It doesn't make you popular but it certainly speaks to a professional, high standard of care. Whether you need a seasonal boarding situation and/or coaching at any level in any discipline this barn has a program flexible enough to fulfill your needs. This event was planned months in advance and within three weeks of the event, they would not honor their signed contract. It was the most unprofessional and unethical act that I've ever heard of by a horse facility. In all my years of being involved in horse events in AZ (30+ years), I have NEVER heard of a requirement for in state horses to have a health certificate and vaccination records to attend an arena event! A legal contract must state all requirements ESPECIALLY ones that are not equine industry standard practices. To say it's their policy three weeks prior to the event does not make it right. And to say it's the responsibility of the organizer to ask questions so they know their policies is ridiculous. Nichole B.'s information is accurate. Signed contracts mean nothing to this facility. Julie G. states she tried speaking directly to participants and/or their veterinarians, but the organizer would not release our information. I'm glad that the organizer did not release our information. A signed contract is between the organizer of the event and the facility. Honor the signed contract! Don't try to give lame excuses to the participants as to why you decided not to do so. This facility nearly ruined what turned out to be a great clinic elsewhere with their unprofessional practices. I would strongly caution any group planning an event at this facility. Their unwritten policies do not override a signed contract, yet that's exactly was happened.

My mares have thrived in their surroundings at the ranch and my husband and I feel very confident that they are receiving the best of care. The horses are turned out daily and benefit from being able to interact with the other horses, it's such an ideal setup. We have been pleasantly surprised with the miles and miles of trails just off the ranch property, and look forward to exploring more of the vast trail system nearby. The ranch has a very peaceful vibe and we enjoy spending time there.

Although the cost of boarding was to include care and feeding of the horses, we quickly learned we would have to do most of the work ourselves. We visited daily to care for our horses as well as keep our horses stalls clean and assure they had adequate water - very basic amenities that were supposed to be provided as part of the boarding services. We discussed these issues with the caretaker on several occasions but nothing changed. The final straw came when we found the horses' mangers filled with exceedingly moldy hay - his irresponsible act could have cost the lives of our horses. The owners are investors and the caretaker knows very little about horses. It is a shame. They charge Scottsdale prices for a run down facility with no amenities. If you care about the health and well-being of your horses, find another location - or be ready to check on them and care for them daily.

Ended up moving her and a friends horse after three months as I literally feared for their lives. On numerous occasions I expressed my dissatisfaction with the care my horse was "not" getting. We were paying Scottsdale type boarding fees for pretty much no care, bordering on neglect. One complaint was the corral was not being cleaned often enough. My horse ended up with thrush. Another time I addressed the fact that my horse had lost so much weight that her ribs were showing and I had to shorten my cinch. Also the feeding times were sporadic. Sometimes getting fed as late as 11:00 in the morning and then again as early as 3:30 for the evening feeding. I had to supply my own water trough and tank heater once winter came around because the automatic waterers all froze up and then leaked everywhere. The straw that broke the camels back was when I found moldy, wet, gravel filled hay in her feeder. Within three days I moved my horse to a safe place. The facility has the potential to be very nice, yet it is in total disrepair. There are stacks of old bread and donuts sitting around and mice everywhere.If you need to board your horse in the Heber/Overgaard area, I'd look for another facility.

It's always open and available for me to use. They also have lights so that's convenient in the summer when it's too hot during the day to ride or in the winter when it gets dark earlier. They took great care of my horses. I have special feed that they get to supplement their diet and they were more than happy to accommodate my requests of how much and when to feed it. I haven't had any health issues with my horses there, but I have seen other horses get colic or injured and Tonya and her staff are always there to get the vet called or haul them down to Phoenix for more serious issues. You couldn't make a better decision than to take your horses to Nashwa. This is where you'll be confident that your 4-legged loved ones are being cared for even better than you would do it yourself.
