In my opinion, informed by my own experiences and by witnessing the maltreatment of others,…read moreNorthgate's top priority is increasing profit regardless of how much their cost-cutting modus operandi and associated perpetual negligence puts resident/patients at-risk resulting in easily avoidable suffering, illness, isolation, malnutrition and even patient mortality all due to their far-too-frequent negligence and immoral, unprofessional lack of concern for client safety and overall health. To state it euphemistically, while there are Northgate staff who display a high level of caring, responsibility and professionalism, there is a statistically significant population of NG staff including medical doctors, upper management et al, whose lack of concern, engagement and failure to meet the basic CA expected standard of care is so poor that their disregard for resident/patients' well-being results in frequent severely undesirable outcomes. Failure to diagnose, failure to prescribe and failure to treat even the most obviously severely ill resident/patients who ultimately end up enduring a miserable day-to-day existence too-often en route to knocking on Heaven's door. One out of hundreds of examples: the single medical Dr. on-call here along with the D.O.N. et al decided that ignoring increasingly severe respiratory distress symptoms (i.e. the terrifyingly long death-rattle wheeze of a resident-patient discharged from a hospital to N-Gate to recover from a preexisting serious respiratory distress diagnosis) was perfectly fine even with multiple resident/patients testing positive for COVID-19 and then quarantined at the exact time this resident's breathing went from an alarming cause for concern to horrifying as anyone hearing his liquid-y death-rattle knew instantly that he was going to die very soon unless placed in the care of a specialist in a hospital setting and sure enough: Three days after he began presenting symptoms of the severe chest infection (COVID-19) going around - which I had suffered through for a full month yet unlike other residents I was not tested for COVID-19 until AFTER my symptoms were fully extinct - the poor gentleman expired. And on top of his preventable death, the actions of staff re: resuscitation were both inappropriate and far too late as they did not begin compressions until 30 minutes after discovering him unresponsive and quite dead but still warm; timing it so that they began resuscitation just as the paramedic arrived and sharply informed NG staff that they had failed to notice the patient's DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) bracelet and as this was not the first time such an incident had occurred the paramedic chastised the NG staff quite severely for once again failing to pay attention to important patient information details such as the fact that he did not desire resuscitation in the event of physical death and so on. The paramedic quickly reviewed an extensive list of past NG staff mistakes and warned them that moving forward they'd best keep their eyes on the ball so to speak or he'd be professionally, legally and morally obligated to file a report on behalf of patients made to suffer needlessly even unto death thanks to NG staff carelessness. The above is just one example of negllasuffering and/or death-via-negligence from a total population of disturbing instances of medical staff ignoring severe symptoms and pretending-at-responsible-behavior when in reality their actions reflected the unprofessional profit uber alles Northgate status quo. In short, Northgate Post Acute is the antithesis of a quality, responsible, caring and productive skilled nursing facility. Northgate Post Acute is an endless nightmare of criminal neglect resulting in needless suffering, illness, injury misery and even death. As others have noted, Northgate is not a place to send family and loved ones for any form of medical care as the LLC that operates Northgate and other Nor Cal SNF facilities cares nothing for the well-being of clients and instead prioritizes securing as much wealth as possible by billing Medi-Cal over $10k a month but providing super low-quality room, board and the absolute most inadequate forms of nutrition (food so bad you can't believ), diagnosis, PT, medical treatment and every other integral component of a skilled nursing or other medical facility. Bottom line: Northgate Post Acute is the antithesis of quality health care. And like a vast majority of U.S. skilled nursing, physical rehabilitation and nursing home facilities, cares nothing about providing healthcare (they will ignore their own Dr's diagnosis and specialist consultation orders for months and years, intentionally delaying every form of needed medical including imply "dropping" patients outright). Northgate is, in short, a prime example of the horror of the USA's for-profit health care system, the ONLY for-profit health system in the free world and the reason why our #1 cause of bankruptcy is healthcare costs.

My family member went from not being able to walk or stand to walking on his own in less than two weeks thanks to the great care and physical therapy received here, at Marin Post Acute. I got a little information, but nothing concrete. I was told that I needed to go meet my loved one there after they were transferred from the hospital, yet no one could tell me a time. It was very frustrating. From the moment I walked in, the staff were not helpful or friendly, and the strong, pungent scent of what smelled like those blue disinfectant disks in urinals permeated my nostrils, made my throat hurt and my eyes burn. It was a little too late to say no to transferring a loved one here. Once I managed to find the front desk, I stood there waiting for one of the three people to greet me or even look at me, not one of them did. I finally said "Excuse me, are you able to assist me," and I got a response "I'm listening" with no eye contact or even a glance up at me. I explained why I was there and he motioned to go a specific way. I found all of the interactions very rushed and unprofessional. That was day one! I located my loved ones room. There was no staff to greet her, after about twenty minutes a lady came in and was rushing me to sign "paperwork" on an iPad. The welcome bag was a nice touch. Over the 13 days that my loved one was there staff did not communicate with me or other family members, unless I tracked someone down. The interaction with most staff was rushed and I felt brushed off. Four days prior to me asking to remove my loved one from the facility a doctor did call me, because three days before that I insisted that they check my loved one for a UTI. That was the only discussion that I felt heard. The doctor was very informative and ordered a mobile scan for my loved one and then no one provided results to me. After multiple discussions with family members about the lack of communication and unprofessionalism, we decided to bring our loved one home. This facility is not equipped for memory care. The windows are old, the screens don't fit properly, the blinds are dusty, old and don't raise. There are areas that need repairs. This building is neglected. Their website states that we are able to send e-cards and the staff will deliver them to the residents. That's a lie. My loved one never got any of them, and when I inquired about it at the front desk, the man had never heard of this, the social worker also didn't know about it. Why have that on the website and then staff is clueless!? The director didn't answer my email and does not have a voicemail. There is so much that was not great here. I also had to ask four days in a row for my loved one to have a shower. Gosh, there's so much to complain about, so I'll stop here. EDIT: The two stars are for Nancy; because every night that she was there, we were greeted why a smile and light hearted conversation! Nancy also stopped someone from visiting our loved one when we said that he was not allowed to visit. Nancy deserves a raise.

Bayside Marin is an excellent treatment center, I'd rate it #2 in northern California…read more At first, I didn't want to go here, mainly because of negative reviews and hearsay from an acquaintance, and corporate ownership. But I quickly changed my mind. I came here devestated by a very traumatic year of my life, in as much of a mental health crisis as I was in a substance one. Throughout the length of my stay, I was treated with understanding, patience and compassion. The bulk of their program is cookie cutter evidence based, but high quality. The employees at Bayside really care about their work, and their clients, and because of this it didn't have a corporate feel, even though they're owned by Acadia. What made this stay extra special for me was the therapy and one on one conversations I had with staff. I had the honor and privilege of working with the best therapist I've ever seen. When there's a true match with therapy it can be magical, spiritual. I have transformed into a better version of myself because of the one on one work with my therapist, whose intelligence, wit, patience, and compassion helped me to rise above and shine, despite facing some extremely challenging triggers in residential this time. When you can't fully care about yourself, sometimes you can borrow someone else's faith in you until you're able to care about yourself a little more. By the end of my stay, I felt more confident and centered than I had in a long time. I also wanted to say, the tech supervisor helped guide me psychologically and spiritually as I faced various challenges at Bayside, and helped revive my interest in spirituality, meditation and awakening. I had the best spiritual and psychological support I could have asked for, which I thought would be impossible after being at Olympia House in 2022. (Both are good rehabs with their unique strengths and weaknesses. I learned a lot at both, but they're not directly comparable, OH is a little more unique in terms of approach and programming. Bayside was extra meaningful because of the particular therapist I worked with, the behavioral technician supervisor I mentioned and the particular clients I bonded with. They actually listen to client feedback and I watched them make numerous improvements over the three months I was there. With that said, there is room for further improvement. Clients are shuffled over to the main campus from detox with very little explanation of where to go and when, which leaves freshly detoxed clients confused, angry, and feeling disrespected. I've been told they're working on fixing this problem. Scheduling glitches do happen, but that's true of any medium or large rehab. They do their best. And also, sometimes communication can be a little complicated between departments. No place is perfect. Gorgeous campus. Food was great. I was told this was a rehab for rich people who valued aesthetics over content, but that's not what I found here. They have some incredible talent working for them and client socioeconomic backgrounds are mixed. 2026 update: I've had to return to Bayside and things have only gotten better, taking my review from 4 stars to 5. A lot of mediocre therapists have left, replaced by excellent ones, and they have made subtle but noticable improvements to the programming. I'm SO grateful for Bayside Marin, one of the finest treatment centers in northern California and perhaps the country. Last. I would encourage people, strongly, to ask to change their therapist if the initial assignment isn't a match. I did, and it made all the difference in my stay.

My daughter was given an administrative discharged after less than two weeks. In those 12 days she did not shower, brush her teeth, and staff claimed she had an eating disorder, was self harming, and was a risk of walking away. Upon admittance I tried to explain her auditory hallucinations and how they affect her behavior. She was eating outside to avoid overstimulation, has a compulsion to pick at scabs (which they deemed self harm, but did not address the wounds or encourage self care, her wounds were undressed and she was never given kind words or alternative ways to cope). The only time I heard of their concerns was an hour before they decided to discharge and transfer to a higher level of care that they claimed to have arranged which was an absolute farse. We were turned away when that facility said she was not a high risk and they did not have a bed. All of the factors the director and staff at Paradigm used to "qualify" her for a bed at this facility were not factual, just their assumptions... very bad ones. If 0 stars was an option, that is what they would get. My daughter left more at risk than when she was admitted. I was not prepared to have her home and she was not stable on medication which was the whole point of her admittance to Paradigm. It took a week to get medication started at Paradigm even though we had a plan and it's effects were not yet seen upon their discharge of her which is proof of their incompetence. Especially the way it was handled. Their skill level did not meet the needs of my daughter. My daughters psychologist was absolutely disgusted at the treatment we received by Paradigm.

I also enjoyed many of the activities including art therapy, adventure therapy, swimming in the beautiful pool, acupuncture and cupping, horticulture group, and the clinical groups. I made connections with the staff and residential manager as well. Over the course of my time here, Newport became a home. In its safety, I processed my traumas and gained self confidence. I am doing well today because of my experience here. With all of that being said, this place was not perfect. The food was awful, and as someone with ARFID, I often went hungry. They made accommodations for me but took their time in obtaining food I was able to eat. Some of the staff were not the best fit for the job, causing us as clients to feel un-cared for while certain people were on shift. This location was short a therapist while I was there, and gaps were filled virtually, which was very challenging for me. Overall, I would highly recommend this location based on my experience. However, I am aware that the company is currently experiencing some structural changes that may impact its current quality of care. My mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer, kidney failure, and dementia. The care, compassion, and respect she's received here have been exceptional.
