Horrible horrible meat service, apparently they skip over numbers not just once bit twice I waited..

If you stop by around 8pm and visit the bakery you can score some of the best fresh bread around. The bread is piping hot and steamy . Stop by the meat dept and buy some ham and cheese and well you got yourself a party in my opinion . The deli here is also very good as I've tried the Birria , tacos and Tortas . They also sell roasted chicken , carnitas , tamales and different Mexican selections . I always find the northgate produce departments to be some of the best around as they have a plentiful selection . If you're looking for some not so common herbs and veggies this may be the place . The meat department is usually packed which is the only downside but with that said you're probably getting some fresh stuff that hasn't been sitting there . read more

Not even one star I want to give this market. The fruit I bought spoiled within a day. Other customers were rude. Employees don't even acknowledge customers and check stands were very slow. This was during the week at 11:30 a.m. The food section was my favorite employees chatting and cutting in front of customers (me). read more

Bakery has terrible selection of bread. Most of the bread is hard. Never have a good variety of bread. Even on a weekend morning your bread is the worst. I will make the drive to a real bakery. read more

I have lived in this city for over 10 years and I was happy when they open a Mexican super market with prep Mexican food you could take home. They also grill your chicken or steak for you on the weekends. Every time i feel for some Carnitas this is the place to get them. They are juicy and very flavorful. Makes you begging for more. Whom ever is making those carnitas, hope they don't fire he or she because they go out pretty fast in the weekends. The only thing i'm a bit upset about this place, their prices have gone really up on their hot and ready food department. their Salsa are expensive. sometimes it is cheaper to make a quick and easy salsa at home instead of buying it for $5 lb. i would not purchase anything form the ready cook seafood. it seems it has been sitting there for a while and re freeze it if it does not sell. Other than that come in the weekends for free samples of their marinated meats. It will make you buy the pack to take home and make. read more

The manager Alvin was rude when I address the wording on their advertising. I explained to him that people that are physically blind would be unable to read the wording in regards to their drinks he totally ignored me and didn't want to hear it. Then I address that my tacos were cold and he totally ignored me I said go and talk to the cashier he was very rude. read more

This review is for the kitchen! I believe this kitchen since the beginning of the year has stepped up tremendously! I am not sure if there is new management or a new cook, or chef with recipes because wow not only is the presentation good, the food is on point. I came in last Sunday and I loved that you smell menudo as soon as you walk in, how can you not buy any?! We ended up getting food here and we were originally here just to get a couple of groceries. They also had a nice selection of non-meat option, I am not sure if it's only because lent going on, but I do enjoy the seafood options. Sometimes they don't have the freshs things out and it sucks or they have food all mixed up everywhere and it makes me wonder or think how long it's been sitting out. Also the cans have a lot of dust on the top so it makes me think how long that's been there also. But they have good prices on things and they be always a good selection read more

DONT EAT FROM THIS PLACE ! I went to this market just to try something new and ordered a steak burrito ! two bites into it i find pubic hair ! The cook has bad hygiene . He cooked our food with gloves and a mask but still encounter hair . burrito didnt even taste that great either compared to other markets i tried ! What can I say, this place is it. Mexican super market at it's prime. I've been to a lot of supermarkets in my time (who hasn't?) but this one has used what they know and improved on it. The produce and deli are well organized, someone is always cleaning up the aisles they should) and the no one is under and properly dressed to work for this establishment. It's clean and you find what you're looking for. Try the carnitas from the deli, They know what they're doing. Good Mexican break selection tool. One stop and you're on your way. I normally get my masa for tamales at Northgate Market in Norwalk but I decided to just go to the one in Paramount. The masa was very greasy when removing the husk my hands were so greasy. I won't go there next year for my masa. read more

its your normal neighborhood store. on the weekends its packed parking is hectic. its mostly geared towards Mexican cuisine. They have a wide arrangement of precooked food everything from pollo to carnitas, tamales and fresh waters. they prices are ok not the best but still good. Great food, great prices, but watch out for the parking people do not know how to back up! They have a wide selection of meats directed towards Mexican cuisine. They also carry various cheeses, salsas and creams. They make fresh tortillas daily and you can purchase masa prepared for tamales which is not the best. The hot food is very authentic and delicious, they have the best fresh made waters and tamales. Overall I love this store! Don't forget the ice cream on your way out. I was surprised to get so many good deals at this variety hispanic grocery store ..... come one come all !!!!

I'd give it 2 stars but the other employees serving were nice. This review goes out more for the kids they have employed in the hot food department. I rarely come here but when I do, I notice they're always changing the way they process the line. So I asked the kid with the blue hair working at the register as to where to grab a number and all he does is point to the serving area. Well duh, I know they're serving the food there but where is the number feeder. He just looked spaced out, waiting to clock out. Then, the young lady who helped me rolled her eyes when I asked for a party platter of rice. Like come on. Seriously, it's sad to see how the next generation have no manners. Look, I get it. They're just there for the money, but come on kids, if you're going to do something, do it right. Like my parents used to say, If you have time and energy to be dying your hair rainbow colors, you should have time to work on shaping your future, i.e. work on your customer service skills. Went a couple nights ago to buy ceviche and when we got home (10 minutes later) the ceviche smelled funny. I didn't pay much attention to it because we were watching a movie and I ate some. Wow I regret it! It was completely nasty, it had gone bad. Sadly it was kinda late so we couldn't go back none the less were we gonna go back the next day with expired ceviche. First and last time going to this location. Prices are higher than other stores, the men behind the meat counter were too busy talking rather than helping the line, and the customer service from the two ladies I got help from in the front were TERRIBLE. Rosario was her name, she was too busy talking to her coworker about why her phone wasn't off and paid for rather than helping us get out the store. Not to mention they would speak to us in English but would look at us stupidly when we replied in English. I've never been treated this poorly at a Northgate, ever. read more

The music is always on and a bit loud; but it is a get-your-toe-tapping and light music. Truly Mexican Fiesta Music. The food selection is very limited; and there are both 'found in all grocery store items' and the Mexican specialties. Be mindful, some of the food is either opened or tested by customers.. so buyer beware. The staff is constantly changing.. and the attitude shows if you're not Mexican .. they can be a little off-putting.. but then again.. they are not always comfortable with people whom they don't know. it goes both ways. What can I really say about a supermarket other than it's an okay market with a variety of Hispanic foods and goods. Customer service isn't really the best. Everyone there looks like they want to avoid helping you out. The cashiers that I've had a chance to interact with have been really rude by just ignoring you or giving you dirty looks. read more

I mostly come here for their Cocina Mexicana. Whether it be for a quick lunch for myself or I'm hosting an event at my place Northgate Cocina Mexicana is the way to go. Not having my mother to cook for me and my cooking skills leaving plenty of room for improvement, i simply save myself the trouble by coming to Northgate. Their Aguachiles and taquitos are to die for. They're aguachiles actually have shrimp in them and the servers are not stingy with them either. They charge per pound so in a way it's a win win, they charge you more but you leave happy. I've been to other places and it's mostly onion, and lemon juice and hardly any shrimp. Taquitos are crisp and taste freshly homemade rather than stale. The aguas frescas have the right amount of flavor you'll want to try them all. Samples are available at your request of course so knock yourself out. The only scary part for me are the crowds during the weekends and the parking lot, please drive defensively. For your catering needs ask for a package deal instead of ordering a la carte for a better deal. They might even throw in a few extras for simply doing business with them. This place is already reasonably priced enough as it is so I would come back when I have to. read more

Well if your hungry you may want to reconsider this place. It's fully loaded of options but there's ONLY 1 cashier. But, wait she's in the bathroom. So the "Server" has NO clue of the code. Then it takes 3 people to use the PA to call Mgr. Armando on duty. I hope there's not a real emergency. FOOD looks good but because their understaffed and undertrained you need to walk over to the regular cashier. So the line at the DELI is getting long and my patience is gone. By this time Mgr. has the solution, because I don't want this POZOLE that's been sitting on counter and everyone is breathing on it, he instruct cashier who handles $$ and remember who just came from bathroom to give me a new plate. I went in to pick out a cake. I asked the lady if she could write on it with icing and she placed a notebook on the counter for me to write on. I handed the notebook back to her and in return she handed me a cake with writing probably a four year old could have done better. All it should have read was "Feliz Cumpleaños Lidia" but instead it read was "FELIZ CUMPtEAñOS LiDiA" with the icing buried into the frosting and all kinds of smudges. I mean I understood it probably wasn't going to look professional but it was literally the worst writing on a cake I have seen. I was hesitant about even purchasing it but took it to the register and checked out anyway, but on my way to the car I said "You know what this is a horrible cake, why am I paying for such a disaster." So I went back to the store, talked to the manager and he agreed to change the cake to another without any writing, so he walked back to the bakery section with me and asked the cake lady to give me another cake. As soon as she heard the manager, she looked at me and rolled her eyes and started mumbling in what I'm assuming was a demonic language because she looked possessed with her pupils out of sight. Anyway, she took out another cake and said they had no more boxes. I guess she expected me to just walk out with the cake uncovered. I told her to just get me the same box from the other cake, but instead she walks over to a cabinet and takes out one of the fifty or so boxes she apparently didn't have a few seconds before. This whole time she's still speaking in demonic tongues so I ask her why is she the one getting mad. She said I should've told her I didn't want any writing on it and that she wasn't a "pastelera" (woman who makes cakes). Then I told her "well you should've told me you didn't know how to write on it and I would've happily gotten it without the icing." She said the cake was going to waste. But it wasn't my fault she messed up on the writing and if she's not a "pastelera" why is she even working in the "pasteleria" (cake shop/section). She probably summoned a couple of demons while she was preparing the second cake but trust me I summoned more than a few. On the other hand, the manager was understanding but if I was him I wouldn't have let her act like that in front of customers. I'm never buying cakes from there again. The cake wasn't even that good. And I aged 2 years from just waiting in line. read more
