I do not recommend!! Go only if you need something like changing your tire or an oil change, but I do not recommend anything more in-depth. I took my car to get the engine light and battery fixed. They charged me almost $300 ("I wish I could get them back"). The lights went out and I got home when I turned it back on the lights came back on, so I assume they just took them out. Some time later I went back to have it checked again, they told me there were new problems and that the parts could not be found at Auto Zone. They told me the part was worth 1,700 dollars. Thank God I already fixed my car and the part only cost me 25 dollars at a junkyard,It is not new, but I don't think the one they were going to give me at that place was. In conclusion, I think they wanted to scam me and it is not fair that they do that to people just because we don't know. SO AMAZING!! Dan helped me and he is terrific. I had warranty on my battery and no one else could figure out how to honor this for me and and he did it no questions asked and figured it out immediately. He was very accommodating and kind. Now that i live in dallas i will never bring my car anywhere else. He was also able to leave it parked outside for me so I could pick it up after the shop was closed. They will overcharge you and break parts on your car. I only went here because they worked on my car with a part I provided. They definitely overcharged me, but I had to get the part programmed so I paid anyway. 700 dollars later, all of the same engine codes popped up on my car which they lied about and said it was only one. I asked if they would see what was wrong with my A/C, because I thought the part I bought would fix it and it didn't. They diagnosed my blower motor as the problem and broke off the plastic on the felt covering the motor. Also, they wanted to charge me $300 for a blower motor that was $52 on Amazon, and 150 in labor for a 15 minute fix. Never coming here again. read more

Beware of this business!! We took our car in because it was leaking antifreeze. They tell us it's the radiator and a few other things. it was 1345$. We get it home and we realize after a day, it's still leaking. We bring it back up there and they say it's the water pump at 1800$!! we tell them that we brought it in for leaking not a radiator and you didn't fix it. Northlake Automotive said "not our problem". After looking up the part, we realize that it's only 100$. My husband asks "can you give us a discount on the labor since you were the ones who put in the wrong part?". They said no because they need the work. They are shady!! Don't trust them with your car! We are filing with the BBB. read more

I had two friends independently recommend this shop and I have not been disappointed. The owner Manny is extremely knowledgeable and will not try to upsell you or recommend anything you don't really need. They needed to find a discontinued part for our old truck and they spent months looking and didn't give up, til they found in a salvage yard. After all that work, the cost was super low! And I have major repairs due for my VW and they are way below dealership rates. As a woman who doesn't know anything about car mechanics, I have total trust in these guys. SO rare. read more

My mom took her car to have an oil change before a road trip out of town. They gave her a "deal" and only charged $80. By the time she got to San Antonio, the check engine light was on. When she retuned a few days later, she had a flat tire so she went to Firestone. They told her that there was no oil in her car. We paid to have a leak test performed since she had just had an oil change and it turns out the crack team at Northlake Automotive had just not put the bolt back on correctly. Had to pay for another oil change. I called the service manager who absolutely denied any possible fault and refused to listen. Terrible customer service. Won't ever be back. read more

I brought a used vehicle to Northlake a few weeks ago and paid $94.50 for the maintenance check to find out whether or not I should make the purchase. When I went to pick up the car, Manny said it would be about $400 in total repairs but he highly recommended that I make the purchase. $250 for the CV axle and $150 for a valve cover gasket. So, I dropped off the car and received a call the next morning that it would actually be over $800 in repairs because they didn't know it was a V6 when they did the maintenance check. This meant they needed to replace two gaskets instead of one, and each gasket would run around $300 instead of $150. Let me repeat that: THEY DID NOT KNOW THE VEHICLE WAS A V6 WHEN I PAID $94.50 FOR THEM TO LOOK IT OVER. They thought it was a 4-cylinder. I argued and refused to pay more than $150 to have the oil leak fixed. In turn, Rico worked with me and agreed to eat that cost. But, a couple of days later, I noticed that the car was STILL leaking oil. They had promised that the oil leak was fixed. I brought it back and Rico promised me that he would fix the oil leak at absolutely no cost because they were supposed to the first time. They made me bring the vehicle back to them on 4 different occasions over a span of 2 weeks because they couldn't figure out where the leak was coming from. Each time I picked it up, there were spots of oil and grease on the side of the car as if employees had used my car to get gunk off their hands. They put a luminous dye into my oil and still could not trace it. After Rico finally believed he had found the issue, he said he was "90% sure" that this problem was causing the oil leak and he would give me a call the following day with an estimate. I was extremely upset because he had promised to fix the oil leak at no cost and now he was speaking of an estimate for something he was only "90%" sure was the problem. I took my car to Lake Highlands Automotive the next day. In a matter of 2 hours they had determined where the oil leak was and gave me a call with a $1700 estimate. It took them 2 hours to determine a problem that Northlake couldn't find in 2 whole weeks. Lake Highlands Automotive was very upfront and honest about the damages, giving me advice on what needs fixed now and what does not. I didn't have the $1700 so I had them change the oil. They swept out my car for me and cleaned it up nicely. To summarize, I paid $94.50 for a maintenance check. Manny didn't know the car was a V6 and gave me a $400 estimate when the car actually needed nearly $2000 in repairs. I paid $4000 for the car and would not have purchased it if I knew it needed $2000 of work, something Northlake should have been able to tell me when I paid $94.50 for the maintenance report... I am working with my lawyer about potentially taking them to court to demand they pay the $1700 to get the car fixed at Lake Highlands. This "establishment" is an absolute and utter joke and I would not advise anyone to go there. Avoid at all costs. read more

After Backus Shell Service Station closed their doors I decided to give this place a try, simply because of convenience. Unfortunately, my experience here has been terrible. I initially took my Ford F-150 in to have the brakes checked out. They were old and starting to grind. They told me that my rotors needed to be replaced and that my drums needed replacing too. Not a cheap fix but necessary. When I got my truck back it was actually worse than when I took it in to begin with. It was now out of alignment and had a violent vibration when I applied the brakes, almost to the point of losing control. So I took it back to get it done right. They turned the new rotors and told me that they fixed the alignment. Wrong. The vibration was a lot less but still noticeable. The alignment still outta whack. So I took it for a third time. Vibration is still there and they claimed the alignment wasn't their doing. Funny. It wasn't a problem BEFORE they got it! To make matters worse, less than a year after this experience, I took this same truck to someone else to have a new master cylinder put in. After bleeding the brakes, my new mechanic says my brakes are in terrible condition. LESS THAN A YEAR AFTER NORTHLAKE AUTOMOTIVE SUPPOSEDLY REPLACED THEM!!! I feel totally ripped off. I'll never use them again, not even for an oil change! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. We took our vehicle in and left it for 2 weeks over Thanksgiving. We had 3 problems, steering, brakes and a leak in the cooling system. $2,000 dollars and a new radiator. Got the car back and we still had 2 problems. I thought those would be warranty. Instead, we had to pay $326 to replace a part I found for $45 on the internet The part was a plastic container for coolant that they said was cracked. They should have checked for leaks when they replaced the radiator. The brakes are still not fixed. I got the car back because they just could not diagnose the problem correctly. Problem: They want to be paid for solving the problem, but they are not getting results. read more

I have used the GoodYear store that was owned by the Wolston family for the 10 years we have been in Dallas. I've used it primarily because it was convenient to our home. A few months back, the business was taken over by their service manager, Manny Esquivel. The name was changed to Northlake Automotive. From my experience, the new owner 1) always attempts to upcharge 2) his opinions are unreliable, and 3) I'm not certain that all of his mechanics are competent. The most recent experience was that the gears in my differential were pitted, that it could be rebuilt for $650. Today, he had totally forgotten telling me that, and the price went to about $1,700 and the need for a totally new differential. l. So far, he has a 100% misdiagnosis/cost for my car. I like Manny a great deal. That's why it troubles me to advise you to always get a second opinion before you consider having work done there. Interestingly, and in all fairness, they are members of the Dallas BBB and have no unresolved complaints. I'm giving this shop a 4 Star because I've only used them twice. I tried Northlake because of the locale and ease in traversing to the bus going to DART's WR station. The first time was to find out why the serpentine belt on my ancient Oldsmobile kept slipping off. This was the third time and the other mechanic couldn't seem to fix the problem. Manny quickly discerned the problem with the belt slipping was a missing splash guard. Couldn't find the part, but built one and for next to nothing. My second visit was to buy two front tires. I will use these guys again when the need arises and would recommend them. These two visits were simple fixes, and I have peace of mind they can handle anything. read more
