I wonder if the one and two star people actually had Yelp friends their frown would be more inclined to turn upside down. No telling, I guess. But here's to hoping. Friends! Smiles! And. That's my experience of Northspur. I've never stopped here with friends, but I've thought of my friends while I've visited. As in, this is a place my friends would really like. And, this: it feels like folks from around these parts that have friends come here with friends, and while they're here from all appearances they have a really good time. They could be faking but I don't think they are. The Willits bypass as observed by others and maybe other places by me was an unnecessary boondoggle that not only separated normal CA taxpayers from their money so as to avoid maybe five minutes extra travel time as they whisked north to ... to where would anyone need to be whisked in the north. I-5 is for whisking. 101 is for a different kind of trip. Not only that, the bypass also then has folks that don't know what's in Willits pass right on by. Their loss, though also a stake in the heart of the vitality of local business. Thanks, legislature, Caltrans and people that make money building things we don't need. This then for the people that would otherwise whisk by without stopping and are maybe hungry and turn to Yelp as the leave Ukiah to see what's ahead. Northspur is ahead, my friends. And if it's late in the day, get a room in town so you can sample every drop Northspur has to offer. The vittles aren't complicated, the menu isn't exhausting - but everything on it is good. The brewed offerings are delicious. Staff is straight out of Lake Woebegone (all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average). Friends with friends are having a rollicking good time and the vibe vibes with this happiness. I will stop every time. Try it once and I guarantee you will as well. read more

Well, I can't say I have a ton to go off of, just stopped in for a quick pit stop when driving south on 101, but I enjoyed my short visit. The beer was good. My IPA was nice and hoppy. My husband's pulled pork sandwich had a large amount of meat on it. I thought the flavor was pretty good. Sandwich came with chips. Chips with Beer cheese were sub par - Beer cheese had a sorta strange flavor. I don't remember how the prices were. Nice big space - both indoor and outdoor. We stopped by for a late lunch and day drinking. Lovely little place, though definitely a clean, utilitarian vibe as opposed to anything overly dressed up. Inside and outside dining are connected, giving it a very open feel. Very friendly staff. From a wide selection I got the Amber Ale. Full taste without being overpowering or bitter. But is a toasted aftertaste which was pleasant. Wife had the Pineapple Haze cider. Refreshing, not overly tart, and just enough alcohol content to keep things boozy. Caesar Salad was a salad. Nothing to write home about but good. Pulled poor sliders, on the other hand, were amaze-balls. Juicy, saucy, little bombs of flavor. We got the sweet barbecue sauce, but they also have a Carolina style option. Tiny bit of kick to the spice, in a good way. read more

Visited NBC recently while in town one evening. A cool open venue with high ceilings, several inside tables and chairs and a nice covered outside seating area. Walk up counter service, order and pay, get a number and they bring your food to you when ready. Standard pub grub, sandwiches and such on the menu. After giving it a once over I settled on the Chicken Bacon Sandwich with a draft lager. The sando was grilled nicely with a good bacon to chicken ratio, fresh lettuce and housemade pickles, a nice dressing, some red onions and a side of kettle chips. This is not a beer review - food alone. We stopped here for lunch on our drive home. We just ordered our food at the bar & seated ourselves. Our food came out super quick & hot. My husband got the one cider they had & the cubano sandwich, which was great & I got the pulled pork sandwich with the Carolina sauce - be sure to ask for extra napkins - it was a mess to eat as it was super saucy, but super delicious! Beer was delicious and the food was yummy. The pesto grilled cheese was the family favorite. Hubs and I shared the caprese and the kale salad. Caprese sandwich was yummy but tiny. Daughter liked the pork sliders but said it was missing coleslaw so next time she'll get the reg pulled pork. This is a brewery first and foremost and the dark stout, barrel aged Felix, was nice and flavorful without the bitterness. Hubs loved the hazy IPA, probability cloud, we took a 4 pack home and a crowler of the stout. We tried other beers too that were Great, just less memorable. Great service! Stopped by here for a Beer and a quick bite to eat on our way back from Wente Scout Reservation. Tried their Lucky Logger. Pretty tasty. Limited menu but lots of good choices available. Hard to decide, but settled on the Reuben sandwich. For a small place it was really well prepared. Came out quickly after ordering and was nice n hot. Served simply with a pickle and a handful of potato chips. Certainly hit the spot. Would definitely go back. read more

So the wife and I went camping in Willit at Mendocino Redwood RV resort. We found this brewery. Had nice outside seating as we had the dog with us. Went in got a flight of beers to try. The lady that was helping me was awesome and friendly. We ordered food wife and I shared sliders they were so good. I like the North Carolina sauce. And the wife liked the barbecue sauce. Inside was so nice as well. I bought a 4 pack to go. The IPA3 was my favorite. So if your around here or up here camping stop by you will enjoy it! Cheers read more

Found out about this Brewery from the Noyo Theatre just down the street. I always get the "probably cloud" Hazy IPA. I recommend getting a beer at the movies then walking over to the Northspur Brewery! Place is super nice, has some good food and of course great beers! read more

It's taken me a long time to write anything up for Northspur because every time I think about this place, it makes me happy and it's hard to describe. Growing up in Willits, there was very little to do, and nowhere to really hang out. Main Street was and still kinda is a collection of shutdown places, some untouched for decades. There's not a lot going on in Willits, as has been true my whole life. I'm in my mid-thirties now, and have been a homebrew-craft brewing enthusiast for a number of years. When I heard Willits was getting its own brewery, I didn't have high hopes. Others in Lake County have been pretty "meeeeh." But man, did Northspur crush it. The place is inviting! Decent amount of covered seating out front, good amount of space inside, and more recently even more seating in the shade of the building into parking area out back. Roll-up doors out front make the patio a natural extension of the inside area. The brewhouse itself can be seen, which is nice. I feel every small brewery should showcase the brewhouse and fermenters, as real people worked hard to make the product you're enjoying, and it was made just a few feet away. The place is comfortable, not pretentious (as can happen with some breweries), and everything on tap has been really good in a different way. The interior design is really well done - it's clean and modern, and the BIG tables use train axels and wheels, which is just on point. They're really impressive. The staff are very friendly. On my first visit, I was recognized from high school soccer (99-03), which was mind-blowing. Besides visiting family, I never really had a reason to be back in town, and honestly I never wanted to be downtown. Actually being recognized and welcomed into a new, vibrant, social place downtown immediately made me a permanent fan. When visiting my parents, it's been so nice to have somewhere in town to sit in the sun and catch up over a pint (and will again whenever COVID is done) and just relax in the sun somewhere that isn't their house and see something new. Good place, good beers (and a good variety), nice staff, comfortable setting, what's not to like? read more

Hooray for Willits' first brewery! My husband and I were on a weekend getaway to Ukiah and as per usual did a Yelp search for breweries in the area and this spot popped up - of course we had to make the drive. The brewery is super spacious with tons of seating inside and out with loads of boardgames to keep you entertained. It was really quiet on the Saturday we stopped in with just a few other people sitting at the bar. Our server was really friendly and the 2 beers we tried were refreshing and delicious. Can't wait for the word to get out and to see where this spot goes. Hoping that it's bustling come summertime! read more

I like everything about this place. First of all, there's always a smile no matter how busy. I think this is some of the best service to be found anywhere. Is not often that a brewery location leaves me quite impressed in their interior. The elegance in the simplicity of the industrial look has made me rethink my point of view.
