With higher dollars you spend here compared with other regular restaurants, in return, you get good quality, creative meals, and delicious food here at Northstar Cafe. It can be challenging finding parking spots in uptown Westerville, but luckily, they have private parking in the back so it's not too terrible to try to find a spot to park,especially, during your lunch break. North Star food is always great a. Excellent pickup and curbside too with the pandemic. I was given the wrong order which I didn't notice until I got home but went back and the staff were wonderful - they were hugely apologetic and attentive, got my order ready in double quick time, and even followed up with a free meal by email a couple days later to make up for it. read more

Amazing, friendly service as well as food. This veggie burger is unlike anything I have ever tasted. Truly delicious. The peanut slaw is kind of like a salad with peanut butter vinaigrette--super tasty! The Thai burrito has great flavor but unfortunately this time there was too much sauce, making the wrap soggy. read more

Look, I would say this is great if you are going for a special occasion with some friends and you all are realllyyy wanting basic diner food, but otherwise I wouldn't come here for a regular lunch. The reason is the prices are absolutely insane. I would say for specialty dishes the prices would be appropriate. But the thing is, this place does more or less just elevated diner style food with a couple international dishes. When I added it up, if I just wanted to get a salad and a burger, it would be over 30$. And when I saw the quality of the burgers, it's just a normal cheeseburger, with a slice of cheese and couple veg. I would say flavor-wise Smash-Burger even has a more creative spin on their burger and fries and the value is better (but maybe not special occasion worthy). Overall the food just seems very basic. It seems people come here in groups to get a drink and just enjoy the ambiance so maybe that's worth the high price to them. But if you're looking somewhere to get a fix on lunch break, hard pass. read more

I always find myself at a Northstar Cafe when I am visiting from NYC. Today was my first visit to the beautiful (& spotless!) Northstar Cafe in Westerville. I was greeted so warmly by their lovely, friendly staff, particularly an exceptional employee named Claire. She made my friend and I feel so welcome & warm that we may never go anywhere else again! Our food was delivered to the table with smiles & it looked perfect-presentation was lovely & tasted delicious. My only regret is there is nothing like it in my neighborhood in Manhattan or for that matter, likely anywhere else. Have loved this place and it's sister store Brassica for years. I know times are different right now and prices sky rocketing everywhere. But it's very disappointing when you raise prices and cut portions. Do one or the other. The burgers have shrunk in size that you would see in most fast food places. read more

I was BEYOND excited to learn Westerville was getting a Northstar!! I have loved the Easton location for years. However, the Westerville location has been a HUGE disappointment!! I've wanted to love it...but after 3 visits, I won't be returning... I've visited this location twice with my husband and once with a friend (who also loves the Northstar in Easton) and they've voiced their disappointment as well. We've found this location extremely loud -- hard to carry on a conversation -- even when it's partially empty in the middle of the afternoon. And the service is subpar in comparison to Easton - the staff at Westerville makes me feel like they could care less if we're there. While ordering at the register during one visit, I had a question about sides available instead of potatoes (it was during brunch hours) and I was directed to the menu behind me - instead of the staff member answering my question -- and it wasn't like we were holding up the line - no one was behind us at the time! On two visits, we were never "checked on" or asked if we needed anything - even while our food was being delivered to the table. During my last visit, much of the staff was sitting along the back wall eating, joking with each other (being loud and obnoxious calling out to other staff that were in other parts of the restaurant), and ultimately distracting other staff that were "on the floor" and supposed to be working. At one point I noted a worker preparing to clean off a booth, only to be called away to the back booth area to chat -- leaving spilled food and napkins etc, all over in the booth near ours -- so we had to continue to look at the mess, left by previous diners, during most of the remainder of our meal. While I wasn't impressed with the food during our brunch visit, they do indeed have the delicious fish sandwich that I crave from the Easton location - and it's just as yummy in Westerville! Yes, it's $15+ but definitely worth it because it's really more than a "sandwich" - see pic! Parking can be a challenge at this location -- they have a parking lot, but it's tiny and the parking spots are minuscule (I'm sure to maximize the parking they do have) -- but that's no different than Easton really, where parking is always a challenge! Sadly, even though we live in Westerville, the next time I'm craving the fish sandwich, I think we'll drive to Easton... read more

This was my second time at the new Westerville Northstar and it did not disappoint. The aesthetic of this place is great. My favorite aspect is the cozy little "mid-century modern" corner in the back. The food of course was wonderful; per usual I ordered the Buddha Bowl and it was everything I had hoped for. The staff were amazing, very friendly, all smiles with ample check in's. So happy that Uptown is growing! No better addition than Northstar. Best food ever, but pricey. This is my "splurge" go to. Particularly like the barramundi fish sandwich and the Nieman ranch burger. No burger place can top it. Buddah bowls are a good value and delicious, as well. All cafes laid out pretty much the same. Clean and nice , but I don't like "warehouse feel." That's just me, though. Staff is always great. I came here for dinner with my family on a Friday night, and there were plenty of tables open so we sat down right away! You have to go up to a station to order your food, then you'll get a table buzzer and seat yourself. I ordered the cheeseburger and fries, with a chocolate chip cookie on the side. All of the food was delicious but a little overpriced in my opinion. My cheeseburger and fries were $14 and I believe my cookie was $3 (although it was huge). Okay, Westerville, you win. All these cool local businesses started popping up over the past few years, but now you've really done it. YOU WENT AND GOT A NORTHSTAR. And not just any Northstar -- a really, really pretty one. This might even be the prettiest of them all. Dammit. I was instantly enamored with all the cozy little nooks and crannies everywhere. This location is HUGE but doesn't feel that way at all. There are so many windows too -- the natural light here is off the charts. And I'm loving the design choices -- there are pops of this beautiful green that really make the interior shine. All the Columbus Insta accounts will finally have something to obsess over besides the double-tap-worthy Fox In The Snow. The rest... is SO Northstar. The service is spectacular. What sets them apart from literally everyone else in Cbus is that they anticipate their customers' needs. If they even suspect that some part of your experience wasn't perfect, they will make it right on their own. No complaining necessary. The food is also perfect. Northstar was doing farm-to-table long ago, way before it became a buzzword. They make simple food with the best ingredients possible with loads of love and care. My recommendations are: For breakfast: The cloud 9 pancakes are the best pancakes you've (n)ever eaten. The sweet potato + turkey hash is a personal fave. For lunch/dinner: The fish is absolutely perfect. Instead of the sandwich meal, I get just the fish with a side of broccoli + peanut sauce. The buddha bowl is another personal fave. For sweets: I won over my boo 8 years ago with 3 Northstar peanut butter cookies overnighted to upstate NY. Take that for what it is, but they are some pretty damn magical cookies. If you can't tell, I'm Northstar's biggest fan. It was my favorite local restaurant when I landed 11 years ago, and it still is today. Save yourself money and time and go somewhere else. This place has NEVER got one of my orders right. My wife loves their salads and I've tried just about everything on their menu but they have either failed to get the order right or have failed to provide any flavor to justify the cost of what they offer. AND, the menu hasn't changed in years! So if you want mediocre food, nothing new, all at a higher cost, go to Northstar. If you want imaginative cooking that changes with the times and whims of a chef go somewhere else! read more

When I heard Northstar was opening in Westerville I was so happy. I've been following the restaurant since it opened on High St. This location is just as great as the other locations, but has had to overcome many obstacles from the beginning. Parking, for those who aren't from Westerville, there is a small parking lot behind the restaurant but there is a large one behind the library. Be careful crossing the street, drivers don't stop. The law in the community is interpreted drivers technically don't have to stop unless the pedestrian is on the same side. Think about that before you cross. I love the place. The space was not an easy transition for Westerville. Many changes had to be done before council and the result is fantastic. The space is bright, comfortable, and clean. Walking into the space with his contemporary feel is just plain relaxing. There isn't a food item that isn't great, but my fav is the vegan burger. It holds it shape. Enough said there if you have had other vegan burgers elsewhere. Lastly, the staff is very helpful. They are always there to help, if you need it. They are supportive without being in your face. I am so glad Westerville has this restaurant and it was worth the wait. Times are a changing here in Westerville and I love the new changes. read more

I'm from NJ and we are close enough to NYC that we go in for dinner frequently. visits back home to Ohio can seem like a food desert. does everything here have gloppy sweet sauces and melted cheese? and vegetables never show up. BUT my experience at Northstar Cafe was such a healthy and artistic surprise! The trout was grilled perfectly with a lovely cross hatch and so very moist with a bit of smoke and citrus and crispy capers. gorgeous and healthy. The side ceaser salad was ice shattering crisp with a very fresh tasting dressing, with a touch of garlic. no garlic breath hangover. The fries are perfect shoestrings which were great even after they got cold. addicting to the last bite. I am soo glad I found this place! I will hit the one by Easton the next time I fly into town. Very good breakfast. Friendly service and nice neighborhood feel. My favorite is the Cowboy Breakfast and substituting the breakfast potatoes instead of the biscuit. Always done to my liking and served hot. Coffee is very good and we are given several different country coffees to choose from. This is a great place. Wish it was a bit less expensive. read more
