Well, I've rated almost every Northstar in the city at this point so I might as well rate this one too! I don't want to play favorites because I love all Northstar locations, but the Westerville Northstar is probably my favorite. There's plenty of parking (lot and street) and it's the newest location, so it's beautiful inside. I love all the wood accents and the open, airy feel. It's located right in the heart of downtown Westerville so it's an easy walk to other cute shops and attractions. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, I always love coming to Northstar. Their food is extremely fresh and the employees are so nice! A few favorites: for brunch, try the sweet potato hash or the pancakes. For dinner, I highly recommend the fish sandwich, the classic cheeseburger, or the chopped salad (which is one of my favorite salads of all time). You just can't go wrong here. Also, the bakery items are phenomenal. The chocolate chip cookie has has a hint of sea salt on top and is one of the best cookies I've had in Cbus! Carryout on Earth Day! I composted the carryout containers! This day was a smaller than normal menu, but offered some fan favorites. Also offering alcohol carry out in the form of bottled wine, beer, and mixed cocktails - so fancy! Due to COVID19 closures they offer convenient curbside pick up (input your car info and someone is waiting in the parking lot with a walkie talkie to call in your pick up). Was a quick and easy experience! The order: The Northstar Burger (a yummy flavor filled vegi burger) this day had 100% of the proceeds benefiting an employee assistance program. I am a meat eater that frequently dabbles in the "meatless" crazy. This ones is beet/quinoa forward and stays together well, isn't crumbly and messy and offers a lot of flavor on its own without wet drippy toppings. Hubby ordered the Uptown Salad (a call out to Uptown Westerville) which has chicken, dates, avocado, tomatoes, corn, goat cheese, croutons and almonds with champagne vinaigrette - I never actually saw this salad because he ate it all so quickly. Kids got a hamburger and quesadilla. Note the hamburger is on the "gourmet" side, so my 4 year old didn't love it. One last thing, due to the closures they aren't serving some of the usual side dishes. They mostly consist of salads and chips/salsa. Breakfast today. I've actually been here a couple other times fro breakfast, but just had to put a review out there for their sausage gravy and biscuits. It is amazing, first and most. I can say it is also very unique flavoring, and I have never had any quite like it before. I make my own SB&G, and also consider myself a connoisseur, this is one of the best if not the best. Sausage is very ground, with a nice hint of spice, but not spicy and the biscuits are equally as spectacular. My only gripe is that I could probably eat 3 portions. I am only in town working for a few days & decided to try this place because it had some healthy options. My friend had the smoothie bowl which she liked. I had the upbeat salad & added chicken. It was a very pretty salad, the beets were yummy, the goat cheese was ok but there was very little chicken. My biggest issue was the rudeness from the time we walked in to ordering & on. I've never been there & wasn't told you have to get your own cold drinks (would have been nice to know). My friend's food came out about 15 mins before mine & I had to flag someone down to ask about it. She was rude from I'll loom to not even saying I'm sorry or anything nice at all. I said thank you & she basically brushed us off. My daughter is a server & I tip when when deserved. The tip was asked at the register before I knew how little the servers actually did or didn't do in this case. I really hate this new automatic tip for nothing society these days. I will never go back as life is too short to deal with inconsiderate people. Came here on a Saturday night hoping to avoid the chaos and frustration of Easton. Succeeded. The Northstar at Easton is nice, but often crowded, and the mall itself is nuts on weekends. So, ran up here for a late dinner. Plenty of parking- a little on the street, and more in the lot out back. Excellent service (carryout order, but still, friendly and fast.) And the atmosphere? So relaxing. They were moderately busy, but the vibe was still calm. Water feature out front, varied places to sit, the bar busy but not noisy. The food is the same as at others: tasty and healthy. A tad expensive, but appropriate for the quality. Sweetie had her usual chopped salad, which is excellent (I sometimes bat cleanup.) I had the Buddha bowl, this time with tofu. Lots of fresh veggies, flavorful peanut sauce, rice, perfectly cooked tofu (you can get chicken, as I usually do.) Baby K had some of Sweetie's salad and bread, and also some of the guac and chips I got. The guac is very chunky- I would just call it avocado- and has a touch of spice. A great experience, just visiting for carryout. We'll eat in sometime. Not that the other locations aren't nice, but this one is even nicer, and there's less hassle to get in here. read more

If it's fall and you don't have their apple cider you are making poor decisions- it's the best one I've ever had and I legit call and find out when it's back on the menu every year. I travel to Columbus for work once a month, and have been told by multiple people that this is a must visit for lunch or dinner! And they are right! It is a great "Panera-style" restaurant where you order at the counter, pick a seat and they bring food out to you. The only difference is the atmosphere is that of a nice sit down restaurant! I really love the vibes of this place. The Thai Burrito is by far one of my favorite things - it is comfort at best! I have started to order this as my "usual!" Best thing on the menu that I have had. The Pad Thai was okay, it obviously is not super traditional since this isn't a Thai restaurant, it has tons of veggies and less noodles, so healthier? The Pizza - really not a fan, the cheese wasn't stringy mozzarella that you want in a pizza, it was more crumbly? That is the only word I can think of to describe it, I don't know, not a fan of the cheese. The Sodas - they have a ton of house (I think they are house made?) sodas, the cream soda is awesome! Hey Northstar, you want to share your recipe for those delicious Cloud 9 pancakes I tried this morning? Pretty please, as this was a crowd pleaser for Mother's Day/Birthday Brunch today. I haven't gone into this particular Northstar Cafe with any bad experience because when I come in I'm instantly greeted warmly by their staff. I can take up to as much time as I need to go through the menu even if I hadn't even tried the breakfast menu like today. Oh my goodness, those Cloud 9 pancakes had me feeling like I was on Cloud 9 hence the name. Light fluffy pancake mixture with ricotta cheese topped with bananas and paired with a side of butter and real maple syrup is the real deal. They just took my pancake experience to another level here at Northstar Cafe. It pairs well with a warm coffee or iced coffee. I also got to try my mother's dish the mushroom frittata with side of potatoes. Her's was good and reminded me a bit of her quiche she cooks with love at home of course. Nothing like spending quality time with the ones you love in a restaurant that not only provides quality service but also quality ingredients which every member of the family is still asking about! Went for the first time back in October, was a nice atmosphere. Walking in the staff wasn't the most helpful after explaining it was our first time there they gave us a quick run down of how it works. You order and pay at the front counter then you are seated and your food is brought to you. Over all it was a good meal, cool place, but not anything that blew us out of the water. I LOVE Northstar! Just like all of my other fellow Yelpers, I was so happy to have one built in Westerville. There is parking in the back of the building and also on the street. I have only been here for breakfast but definitely will be back for lunch/dinner! The food is on the pricier side but that is because of the quality. Once you take your first bite, you'll understand! My husband's only complaint was the portion size of the Cowboy Breakfast. He came super hungry and also left hungry. I, on the other hand, left satisfied and not overly stuffed. I was visiting Westerville and was happy to see a Northstar there, I have been to one closer to Cincinnati and love it. My friend and I decided to eat there on a Friday night. It was busy, but not totally packed. I had the Buddha bowl. I forgot to ask for heavy veggies, so it was a little light on veggies and heavy on rice for my preference. It was delicious though. My friend hadn't been to a Northstar before, she enjoyed a burger and really liked the dark chocolate cookie she ordered. My one complaint is that they don't accept cash payment, which I find exceedingly annoying. They don't mind making everyone touch the credit card machine though. I really wish places would not go cashless. Overall good service and good food, I'd definitely recommend. read more

Had some strange experiences the last few times, and because I have loved this res I have tried to wait it out thinking they may going through management changes or struggling with staff like so many. Today, ran in for a smoothie. I asked what's in the green smoothie... one banana, two scoops kale, a cup of pineapple and fresh orange juice , perfect. Well, I needed it to go since I was going back across the street for a meeting, and the person helping put it in a small to go cup and there was a significant amount leftover. I said, aren't you going to put that in a glass for me or in a separate cup? She set it aside and said she was required to throw it away. What?! Why do people in general think that this place is "Fabulous"? The food is okay and average but nothing special.... overpriced and undersized portions too...I will say that the decor and seating is nicely done but in all honesty the "Rage" is much more than the "Reality" and I'm NOT impressed. I came here for a business morning meeting and it will be the only time I will ever visit this establishment. Again, nothing that momentous and I didn't even finish the breakfast burrito and not even worth taking pictures of anything. Location is nice and accommodating but so are Hotel waiting area's. I typically leave good comments when it's warranted but not much to report in a positive manner. I think that people frequent this place to say they "Went Here" but my speculations are that they don't have the depth or palate for being Honest with themselves about their experiences. I'm finally able to review this specific Northstar, as my first and only other time here was for a Yelp Elite event. Confetti!! As with all the other Northstars, love the high ceilings, mix of exposed brick, metal ductwork, and wood. I HIGHLY encourage you to check out my review from the "Have a Slice of Northstar" event, as that first visit was exceptional, and we learned about the ins and outs of this particular Northstar. The addition of this store's wood fired pizza oven - direct from Italy - gives this location a one-up. This stop being my first as a regular old friendly customer, I went for the Cowboy Breakfast. This was the perfect dish to satiate my appetite: Over-medium egg, bacon-ends-and-pork sausage patties. Needless to say, the dish was excellent. Table service was good. Great food. Service is always guest forward, but a better job could be done allocating where the staff would perform best. I'm aware that service, especially in the short north gets hectic . I've work in the area currently. You have servers that don't focus on small details that craft the experience. You have staff that aren't fully aware of their roll and are asked to perform under pressure when they can't fully grasp their work responsibilities and job that needs to be done. Great spot. I came here because i've driven past here several times living near it. I loved the way it looked from the road and reading the reviews the food also sounded like it was pretty good as well. So finally I gave it a chance one evening and was shocked by it. First, the menu was really small compared to what I expected. I'm not sure if this is because of covid or not. But either way super disappointed by that. Second, I like how you pay once your order is placed. Third, the overall ascetic inside is great! Its a very comfortable environment. This is probably my favorite thing about the whole place! Fourth, the food is very overrated. I'm not sure if I had set my standards to high for this or what but it was just not that great. Decided to take myself out tonight and went to the Northstar Cafe. When I walked in the atmosphere was buzzing! For 7 o'clock I didn't expect it to be as busy as it was but even with the Cafe being almost full service was fast and I didn't wait long. As opposed to other sit down restaurants this is an interesting twist. You walk in look at a menu and order/pay at the counter. Upon ordering you are given a buzzer. You fill your own drink (if said drink is non-alcoholic--yes they have alcoholic drinks). After filling your drink you choose your table and seat yourself. Silverware is already there. I waited around 15 minutes for my fish to come out. At this point I was curious if I'd have to go and pick up my plate or if it would be served but to my delight a server came and delivered my plate and took the buzzer back. Once done you just leave your finished plate and leave. Such a refreshing twist and the grilled trout was seasoned to perfection! A little on the dryer side but tasty! As for the Caesar salad to the side--I absolutely loved it!! I would def come here again to enjoy the atmosphere food and music! read more

One thing I cannot understand is that these amazing places do a great job of accommodating people with special dietary restrictions (Vegans, gluten & dairy free, etc) but do nothing to accommodate those who do not drink alcohol. There are SO many incredible non-alcoholic beers (BrewDog is world famous and right here in Columbus, Heineken Zero, Budweiser Zero, etc). Vasso (bridge park) has a lovely mock tail menu. It's irresponsible not to offer this. I guarantee we are not the only ones who are surprised and disappointed. BrewDog offer them on tap and in cans. Either way, please consider this. read more

Northstar is a well-known Columbus restaurant group that takes great pride in delivering fresh, delicious, sustainable food to the hungry stomachs of all Columbusites. The Westerville location is the closest geographically to me and I must say that it is one of my favorite weekend breakfast/brunch spots! As you can see from my pictures, I ALWAYS opt for the Poached Eggs with Prosciutto Toast. It is one of my favorite breakfasts period, end of story. The toast is thick cut, soft but crunchy on the edges. The eggs are poached beautifully, and placed on a prosciutto bed with some savory garlic type butter underneath. The mixed greens are tossed in a light lemon vinaigrette- simply blissful. Coffee is self serve and delicious, with roasting flavors from around the world. The Bloody Mary is unique- not very savory but more simple. The whole concept of Northstar is simple but delicious and the Bloody follows in those footsteps. I can't not give this place 5 stars. It is a must-try for anyone visiting our great city! read more

I went to lunch for my birthday with my son, he had the Thai Burrito and I had the Pad Thai, with chicken. The restaurant is beautiful and seems open and spacious with a lot of seating. The employees all had masks on. We did have a bit of a wait but it was during lunch time. We took our food to go. The staff were friendly, efficient and there seemed to be a general feeling of efficiency like a well oiled machine. There was a positive vibe, despite how busy they were. I read several reviews before setting foot in Northstar and it seemed to be mostly positive reviews there were a few negative ones. I will say that the prices seem high but you're paying for, the quality, for organic, local, artisan produced foods. I did enjoy the Pad Thai and I must say they got the flavors spot on. Having grown up in Southeast Asia I have very high standards in regards to authentic flavors that haven't been westernized. I literally felt like I was sitting in a food stall in Thailand. I've never been moved to write a review for a restaurant. I've had some really excellent meals, great service, but have never been moved to leave a review. The dining experience I just had at Northstar was incredible. From the service to the food and everything in between. We sat at the bar and the bartender took our order swiftly. The food came so quickly and was deliciously prepared. While we waited the few minutes, the manager came and gave us chips and pimento dip that hit the spot.
