I visited Northtown Coffee in Arcata and was pleasantly surprised that everything is organic -- you don't see that everywhere, and it definitely adds to the experience. The coffee was great, rich and well-made. The service was also very good -- friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even better. I really liked the interior as well. The space is stylish, thoughtfully designed, and has a great vibe overall. The only thing I was expecting more of was the pastry selection -- it felt a bit limited. Northtown Coffee is a gem! The organic vibe, creative specialty menu, and warm atmosphere make it stand out. My coffee was spot on -- smooth and well-crafted. I also tried the cheesecake, which was tasty but could use a little work -- it came out a bit too warm and soft, not quite the firm, chilled slice I was expecting. Stopped by Northtown Coffee and really enjoyed the vibe. It's got that cozy, organic coffee shop feel that's hard to find -- the ambiance alone makes it worth visiting. I had a latte which was smooth and satisfying. The staff was friendly and the place had a great energy to it. Love that they focus on organic ingredients. Only thing that bothered me was the tablet tip prompt at checkout -- I personally don't love that setup at counter-service spots. Lovely ambiance with space inside and outside for reading, studying, and chatting with friends. Tasty, creative specials that accommodate all sorts of needs (coconut milk, oat milk, etc). They feature tasty locally baked treats from Patch's Pastries and host different food businesses in their kitchen longterm and sometimes just for pop up evening events. Luckily I could tell from the get go he was just a youngin trying to make his way with a steamy large white mocha latte. He moved to SF the next few weeks. Instead, I went over to jitter bean on Harris across the street from Safeway. There, I was behind three other cars, and even with three cars in front of me, I waited less than 10 minutes. At one point, one of the employees actually came out to the line, asked me what I wanted, took my reusable mug inside and then when I got to the window, my drink was ready. That's the way these places should be doing things. Sorry Gold, Rush, in this case, two strikes and you're out. . There are too many other coffee places in town that I can go to. Thanks anyway.
