I told him the whole story, and he agreed to buy back my wheels on the basis that they'd sold me the wrong wheels. He told me the shop could build me a custom set of wheels -- a service I didn't know the Peddler offered -- but I'd already ordered another set of sturdier wheels from a Colorado company. When the wheels finally came in, I took them down to the Peddler. Nate swapped out the wheels the same day, taking extra time to re-true both of them. I've been out on two great rides with the new wheels. While the wheels are still settling in, the bike performed wonderfully. Nate also sold me a couple of wider tires for the new wheels, and the tires work just great. Both Kalan and Nate could not have been nicer or more professional in our conversations and dealings. I'm very hopeful that the experience I had with the other employee was just a one-off, and that the Peddler remains a shop that offers great customer service. ======= After two decades as a loyal customer, I'm sad to say the Bike Peddler no longer stands by what it sells. Last June, I purchased a set of Shimano wheels from the shop. In May, after a total 12 rides, both a spoke and the hub nut on the rear wheel broke during a short Salem Bicycle Club ride. I was astonished, and asked if the wheels were warrantied. The clerk said he'd check. They later informed me that the wheel's warranty didn't apply because it was a "wear-and-tear" break -- even though I'd barely ridden on the wheels. I expressed my dismay, and the clerk shrugged. I told him I'd been loyal to the store for years, and he replied that he couldn't tell me where to take my business. I was truly shocked at his rudeness and lack of professionalism. I've shopped there for years, purchasing items I could have gotten much cheaper elsewhere -- shoes, helmets, bib shorts -- because the Peddler always treated me and my wife like family. I've also recommended the Peddler to many friends, because I could count on the shop to provide them great service and support. It breaks my heart to report that the shop now operates on the motto "Buyer Beware," and seems to have little concern for its customers.

Now, if I were you, reading this review, I'd go "well that's great and all, but bringing your own parts was a red flag -- these guys must overcharge". Nope! I'm just paranoid and wanted to bring OEM parts -- Santiam had offered an EXTREMELY reasonable price on the parts I needed (actually, I think cheaper than what I ended up paying...) and the labor itself was a great rate -- I had been budgeting and worrying to pay twice what I was actually charged! Santiam knows their stuff, has a broad selection, charges a great price, and is fast. Everything you could possibly want from a bike shop.

This one suited him perfectly and was the right color, which is the most important thing to a 7 year old. They offered to build it at no obligation to buy, so we said to go ahead. We went back a couple days later and picked it up. Kid was very happy. I went in a couple weeks later looking for an entry-level mountain bike for myself. The guy took the time explaining all of the ins and outs and what to look for, what's worth laying more for, etc. I didn't end up buying one as I found another I liked elsewhere, but the knowledge gained here helped me make that decision. Several weeks later, I took my 13 year old road bike in to see how they could modify it for my current needs, which consists of riding through Minto Brown with my son on the laced trails and gravel roads. They gave me a some great ideas, and also presented a new bike that was more suited for what I wanted at a great price. I went for the new one, and it rides great. Likely going to take it back for some bigger tires, which was a future modifiable option that made the bike more enticing. These people are great. Get your bikes here.

Salesperson was uncertain about what accessories came with the bike and assured me that the medium frame (the only one in stock) would fit me. At 6 foot, I fell between the medium and large frame size, but the sakesperson assured me that the medium size would work. Because of some medical problems (shoulder replacement), I was unable toreally ride the bike for several weeks. After taking my first extensive ride, I realized that the seat post was too short. I rode to the shop where the service guy nicely replaced the seat post with a new one, kept my old seat post, and never mentioned payment. I assumed it was part of the $2,000 purchase price. I returned to the store today (6/19/26), as the ebike controller was not functioning properly. The people at the shop had no idea what the problem was, but the service guy thought the problem was me. To paraphrase what he said: "It may be that this bike is too technologically challenging for an old person like you." The rude service guy also said I skipped out on the payment for the seat post. To add further insult, the shop was unable to solve the problem with the controller. In addition, the cheap little tailight that came with the bike broke on my second ride when I hit a small bump. I hope to resolve the problem diretly with the Urtopia Company. I love the bike, but not the shop. There are many fine bike shops in Eugene who stand behind what they sell. Eugene Electric Bikes is not one of those.

When I found this service on Yelp, they were one of two narrowed down, and quite frankly I just liked what they had to say, so they got the bid, pure and simple. AND when I asked her about her staff [because I was worried about turnover in todays economy and the service industry] she was a little taken aback. BUT she defended her staff and TRULY likes her staff, and her retention rate was great, she mentioned. Okay, I will take her on her word. In comes the first deep clean..here we go. She warned me it was a FULL day.. and it was. When I tell you there were no less than 10 people in this house top and bottom floors, I'm not joking. I watched them like bees in a hive. I've owned rental properties throughout the Midwest, I've retained MANY move in, move out and continual cleaning services. But I have never seen what they did. None of them spoke a word. Yet in tandem, did things I never even thought to do. There was no weird odor, no smell, no chit chat, no laughing no talking no nonsense. This group was HERE TO DO A JOB. I sat here, in my chair, in AWE and watched as [what I call kids..all in their 20's and 30's] worked like a successful unit. Here is the truth-I was exhausted. It almost brought tears to my eyes. Watching my home being transformed into something immaculate, my sanctuary becoming spotless. One by one cleaning and picking up as they went, by the end of an 8 hour day they were gone and I had not recognized my home by clock out time. What they did, SHE SAID THEY WOULD DO. No sitting on their phones, no loud music, no TEXTING, NO TALKING TO ONE ANOTHER WASTING TIME.. I was so appreciative you have no idea. I watched them ALL like hawks, but there was ZERO to watch for. It has been months now, and today was my cleaning day. You will not know they are there. You will not know they are gone. I am still in awe, I am STILL as grateful as ever and they will have a lifelong client as long as they are in business. This is a 100% factual based review. I have no skin in this game, I do not know them, but I will tell you this. THEY ARE A PHENOMENAL BUSINESS MODEL. And you would be foolish not to try to secure their services.

They were all smiling and so friendly. Then, got a call saying they were done and invited me to come out and see everything. The super nice girl, (professionally dressed in a work uniform) literally took me around and showed me the amazing DRIP system and showed me ALL PLANTS where getting water. They set the timer and even moved my valve box to a different location (my bad, I sprung a last minute glitch in the plan) and had the valve box set up nice so no critters could get in etc. They cleaned up so nicely can't even tell they were here. They are my 3rd try at using Yelp. I've actually saved them in my contacts as "The only irrigation to use ever" in my phone. Trust me.. no regrets. I am satisfied. No worries going with these guys for DRIP, valve box stuff, weedblock install, and lawn edging. Did see a sample of a water fall feature. Was insane with a miniature golf course around it.
