When we got there wasn't too busy.It had been a long time since we've eaten here. First thing that went wrong was after ordering our mahi dip she came back to say they were out. Our waitress was really friendly and probably the only reason I didn't give them a 2. My salmon came blackened, but I'd say overly blackened. Had a burnt crust to it, making the actual meat of the salmon dry. My collard greens, we're cold or lukewarm underneath. Best part of my meal was the baked sweet potato. With cinnamon butter, that was actually regular hard butter with cinnamon sprinkled on it.. My wife's scallops were over seasoned with lemon butter. By the time we got home, we both were on the toilet. Tonight was wine, Wednesday and Was a little louder than I expected it to be, the atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy.Just was a little too loud tonight.

Fresh seafood in a cozy, warm atmosphere. They offer daily specials and a rotating soup of the day. The staple soup is a New England seafood chowder that is thick and creamy. I decided on the Steak and Shrimp to try the best of land and sea. The seasonings on both the shrimp and steak were very flavorful and cooked well. I asked for a side of drawn butter to dunk my shrimp in. So Good! You are offered bread with the purchase of an entree, which is a nice touch that so many restaurants have done away with. And save some of that bread for sopping up steak juices and finishing off your drawn butter! Will definitely return when I am in the Gainsville area again!

Hidden away in the northwest corner of Gainesville is one of the hidden gems of this city. Does Northwest Grill get the attention that some of the downtown restaurants receive? No. Is it as flashy as Spurrier's and the restaurants in Celebration Pointe? No. That being said, Northwest Grill has been a standout in Gainesville since 1996, a place that has been voted "best seafood" for numerous years. I finally got a chance to try it out only a few months before I moved from Gainesville, which was a major mistake on my part: I should have been dining there for years. In my two visits I tried the seafood combo with fried Alaskan pollack and fried bay scallops with collard greens and garlic smashed potatoes. The pollack and scallops were perfectly crispy, the mashed potatoes (even with the skin on) were light and pillowy, and the collard greens will make even the vegetable-less a believer. At other visit, I tried the fried cod with (again) the smashed potatoes and Northwest Grill's homemade coleslaw. One of the things that makes Northwest Grill a standout in Gainesville is their spectacular daily specials: I tried the shrimp, scallop, and bacon carbonara, which was a massive portion of warm, creamy pasta and a generous portion of seafood. The stuffed mushrooms with their goat cheese stuffing were creamy and delectable. Overall, with its massive menu and fresh seafood, Northwest Grill deserves its title as not only the best seafood in Gainesville but one the best restaurants in Gainesville. Period.

The food was fantastic! The service was great with very attentive servers. The ambiance was what I would call "relaxed upscale" :-) My wife liked the fact that they had a "value" menu that had lower priced options in addition to the regular menu. We will definitely return to try other items on the menu the next time we are in Gainesville. I definitely recommend this restaurant!

Why go to Alaska when it's in your back yard excellent and enough to satisfy a 250 lb man dare you

FYI long time customer I helped during Covid take out as much as we could afford .Love the owner the vibe the food .Cant afford to support them as we have .$7.95 for a to go Cesar salad that has shrunk to half the size it was 6 months ago .It's not inflation but the $15.00 min wage increases are killing the independents rest.Guess I'm eating at home .

1-Parking and surroundings. No problem finding parking in front or side of the restaurant, plenty of parking. 2. Seating, ambiance and decor. Some ocean decor makes it feel salty, like the booths, tables and lamps. Nice cozy place to share dinner with a loved one. 3. Service is above and beyond type. They care about the customer being happy. 4. Food. I ordered the Drunken Grouper and it's surprisigly pleasing to the taste. It's full of flavor, delicious, and tasty, beer battered and you can taste the garlic, the green peppers, red peppers sitting on a delicious sauce. Cole slaw was fresh and crunchy and accompanied by a generous portion of crunchy French fries. Top that with the peanut butter pie, very good, feels like you are eating a cheesecake. "I will definitely be back" I will give it an 8 in my style of rating. In Yelp they get the five stars. I really liked it. Amazing!

We were visiting Florida and wanted to try gator and conch - Northwest Grille had both, so we were excited to try. We ordered: - Wild Caught Florida Alligator Tail ($15) - texture/flavor was a bit boring, glad I tried it but wouldn't order it again - Conch Fritters ($13) - the cornmeal batter was tasty, but the bits of conch were so tiny it was hard to taste anything but the batter - All-Natural Grass Fed Burger ($15) - Love the idea of this burger (100% all natural, corn, antibiotic and hormone free grass fed ground beef from Painted Hills Ranch) but unfortunately the large ciabatta bun was hard and it made it very difficult to eat the burger. Would have preferred a softer bun like a kaiser or brioche - Scallops Provencal Pasta ($16) - scallops were plentiful and sweet, but would have preferred a more flavorful sauce - Peppercorn Steak Salad ($15) - Really enjoyed this - We also got a special strawberry mojito-like drink without alcohol but it wasn't that good - tasted like strawberry seltzer water Service was soooo slow - it took more than 35 minutes for our food to come out, thank goodness we had complimentary bread to eat (it was fresh but bland). Disappointing experience considering all of the great reviews

Great food, great service and reasonable prices. Family owned restaurant that serves a great seafood chowder and a generous grouper filet.

eos Maps Flights Finance Search Results Translation Result Spanish English It's not my first time at this restaurant, and we've always had a good experience. But this time it was not like that. The food took a long time, more than an hour to be exact. My husband ordered fish and chips and they were very greasy, we sent them back twice but still the same. However the baked potato was delicious. Plus they make the best clam chowder soup.

What a great find! We have been talking about coming here for ages. So glad we finally went. It is definitely a local's spot. There was about a 10 min wait and the service for our food was a little slow but the food was so good. The fish was fresh, love the variety on the menu, and love that they have gluten free options. We enjoyed shrimp, cod piccata, and sesame tuna. Everyone loved their meals.

Tooling around a little bit, I found Northwest Seafood at the tail end of the Fresh Market stripmall, and figured it might be interesting. It was busy, but it wasn't pretentious, which is what I was looking for. A couple of tables setup outside for customers, and inside a bench or two for those waiting for their food. The place serves in two different ways... first, they are a fish market, and you can get a large variety of different seafoods there. Prices aren't bad, certainly better than other shops in the same area, and a lot more variety as well. Inside, I went through the menu that they have. They are a counter service as well as the fish market, and you can get a number of different items cooked up right there to eat. I went for a cod sandwich and fries, which was the closest thing they had to fish and chips. The wait was nominal, as they had to fry up the food and get the fries together. Staff were pleasant, despite the apparent rush, and I got my food in short order. Eating it was a good time. The sandwich was excellent. The fries... they were good initially, but they don't really hold up over time. Not a big deal if you are sitting there and eating them immediately, though. Definitely worth the stop, and I will be back.

The wings were flavorful, well-seasoned, and hit the spot, and the fries were crispy and satisfying, simple but solid. That said, when my friends' seafood boils came out, wow. The smell alone was incredible rich, buttery, and seasoned perfectly. I couldn't resist trying a few bites, and I'm glad I did. The potatoes and broccoli were especially good, soaking up all that seasoning, and the seafood itself tasted fresh and well-cooked. You could tell this is really where they shine. The portions were generous, the food came out hot, and it's definitely a fun, casual spot to go with friends. The atmosphere feels laid-back and social, which makes it great for group dinners. While my non-seafood order was good, seeing (and tasting) the boils made me want to come back and try a full seafood meal next time. Overall, a solid spot with great flavor, especially if you're a seafood lover. I'd absolutely return and next time, I might just give in and get my own boil.

The service was fast and I really appreciated that everything is fried fresh to order, you can taste the difference. I got the wings and shrimp combo and added hush puppies. The wing batter was amazing: not greasy, perfectly seasoned, and honestly better than Popeyes or even KFC. A lot of places give you more batter than chicken, but here the chicken was moist and a good portion. The hush puppies were also surprisingly moist and flavorful, some of the best I've had since they're usually dry elsewhere. Gainesville Seafood, out on the Eastern end of town, is that place. It may not be the easiest spot to stumble upon, but that's part of its charm. This is the kind of hidden gem that loyal regulars keep quietly to themselves, the sort of place that feels like a reward for those willing to seek it out. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, the kind of no-frills setting that lets the food do all the talking. I went for a seafood platter, which was shrimp and fish with fries. They have a variety of different kinds of fish available that you can pick from, which is a nice touch. It gives the meal a sense of personalization that you don't always find at casual seafood spots. I went with the flounder, and it turned out to be an easy choice to feel good about. The platter was generously portioned, the kind of meal that leaves you satisfied without the need to contemplate dessert. All of it was excellent. The flounder was light and flaky on the inside, with a crisp golden crust that had clearly seen well-seasoned oil and confident hands in the kitchen. The shrimp were equally well-executed. They were plump, tender, and fried just right, without any of the rubbery disappointment that lesser seafood joints often deliver. Even the fries held their own, providing a solid, starchy counterpoint to all that seafood goodness. The wait wasn't at all bad either, which is worth mentioning because a place this good can often mean a crowd. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and the whole experience moved at a comfortable, easy pace. They took their drink orders and these two tables arrived after I came in. The server finally came over and I placed my drink and food order, as I was ready because I've been sitting there so long. I actually knew right away what I wanted which was fried shrimp. It took another 10 minutes to get my water. She put three lemons in my water, and I never order lemons at restaurants because they are known not to be very clean. Meanwhile, they gave the other tables their drinks first. After the server brought my food, she never came back to check on me. I wanted some butter for my grits, but she didn't check on anything. She made sure she checked on the other tables next to me. Later, she brought the check, and I noticed it had a service fee on it (3.9%). Really?! Stop playin'. I inquired what that was and she said if you pay with a card they charge that fee. They assumed I was going to pay with a card and it had no cash option listed. I deducted the fee and provided cash for the meal and ended up still tipping 29% when she was in a terrible server. When she came back to get the check with my cash, she asked if I needed change back. I wish servers would stop asking this and just bring the change back and obviously if the customer is gone, the money is meant for them, or if they want to leave some cash, they will. The intention was to give all of the change to her, but it is in poor taste to ask people this. At this point I just wanted to get out of there because I did not feel very welcomed. I came in this restaurant once before, and nobody would seat me, and I walked out, but a coworker ordered food from here yesterday, and I figured I would give them another chance. Then the server took my receipt and crumbled it up and put it in her pocket. So now I have no record that I had even eaten there except for the plate of food that I ordered (see photo). I should've taken a picture of it. This seems a little shady to me. Additionally, I don't appreciate having a service fee without being advised of it before my check is brought to me, or actually before I even order. I won't go back here. I ordered fried shrimp, cheese, grits, and lima beans. The meal was $9.50 pre-tax. The service is terrible. There were other servers walking by my table when I was sitting there ignored when I was first seated. Who wants to sit in a restaurant with nothing to drink for 20 minutes? I really was thinking of getting up and walking out since nobody could even come and greet me and take a drink order. The food is subpar as well. I'll pass on this place, for the lack of customer service.
