I had a very misleading and frustrating experience with Liberty Auto Plaza…read more Before making a 90-minute drive, I spoke multiple times with someone identifying himself as "Jack" from the finance department. He called and texted repeatedly and positioned himself as the person who had personally secured my approval. He told me I was already approved up to $35,000 (including tax, title, and fees) and that I was simply coming in to pick out a vehicle and sign paperwork. He even had me send over my driver's license and pay statements ahead of time "to attach to my file" so everything would be ready when I arrived. I made it very clear that I did not want to travel that far unless this was legitimate, and I was reassured multiple times that the bank had already approved me. As soon as I texted "Jack" to let him know I was on my way, he stopped responding completely. When I arrived, I was told to ask for "Jack." There was no Jack. Instead, I was handed off to a salesperson named Quinton, who asked me to provide all of the same documents again. While sitting with him, I began receiving multiple alerts that lenders were pulling my credit -- confirming that my credit had NOT been run prior to my visit, despite being told I was already approved. During this process, Quinton had an earpiece in and was having unrelated conversations about personal matters (like arranging to have his house power washed) while asking me questions. I had to repeat myself multiple times just to be heard, which made the entire experience feel even more unprofessional. Shortly after, I was told that the "approval" had been reversed and there was nothing they could do. This was clearly not a real approval -- it was simply a tactic to get me into the dealership. To make matters worse, I had already clearly explained: I do NOT have a co-signer I can NOT get a co-signer I only have $1,000 to put down After a 3-hour round trip, nearly $100 in gas, and lost time from work where I would have otherwise made money, I left with nothing and feeling completely defeated. What makes this even more frustrating is that there were vehicles on the lot priced around $12,000 -- and even with those options, they were still unable to structure a deal based on the terms I had already disclosed ahead of time. That tells me this was never a legitimate approval to begin with. This experience was misleading, unprofessional, and a complete waste of time. For customers who are already navigating financial challenges, tactics like this are not just frustrating -- they have real financial and emotional consequences. I strongly recommend getting everything in writing and verifying any "approval" independently before visiting this dealership.

It is unheard of in this business about this kind of small, at home feeling type of company. He cares about his reputation and doing right for his customers. I am a passionate person and came off fairly abrasive because I expected to be ripped off or to haggle. But there really was no need. He was kind, calm, cool and just had a sense of authenticity about him. He was very calm and respectful. He answered all of my questions and I didn't really have to negotiate or bargain with him. He was able to really sell me a great car for an amazing price without the extra stress that you can expect at all the other car dealerships. This is where you go to buy a car, don't waste your time with other places because what ends up happening is other places will waste your time, waste your money and sell you sometimes not the best car. He's pretty close, he's in a good area and he's just a good guy Thank you for all of your help Adrian. I have attached a picture of my beautiful car.

UPDATE: I took three weeks to update this experience, since that is how long it took them to get…read moreback to us. The team (Tim-Salesman & Jason-GM) did reach out to us and apologize; however, Dan Raba, Sales Manager) Who Jason said would get back to me never really did. He played text games like a 12-year-old schoolgirl. Even when I called and left him a message, he never actually called me back. Not what I would expect out of an adult Sales Manager. Dan should be lucky he does not work for me, as he would be gone for his lack of maturity and ability to follow up with customers. Anyways, the Honda of Libertyville Team did pull through in the end by not being able to locate the floormats and purchased a really nice high-end matching Ford Bronco floormat. Better than expected. In all fairness, they initially tried to play the game of we will get you the carpet mats, or if you remove the review, you can get the high-end mats. I explained to them that I'm kind of about principle, in case you haven't noticed. Strong-arming does not work for me. That's not going to happen, in case you can't tell. I said, put yourself in my shoes during this experience, how would you feel? They said point well taken. So in the end, Team Honda of Libertyville pulled through, but they just got off to a really, and I mean really, slow start. In all fairness, without this post, I'm not certain how things would have ended. But they ended well. The End - Semi-Upset Customer ********************************************************************************************************************** I had a terrible experience with Honda of Libertyville and want to warn anyone considering buying a vehicle there. On March 28, 2026, I purchased a used 2024 Ford Bronco from them. When I first saw the car, it had carpeted floor mats and sunroof covers in the trunk. During the financing process, the dealership took the car to "detail" it. When I got home later that day, the floor mats were gone. My son reached out to our salesman, **Timothy Koszczuk**, about the missing mats, and his response was dismissive -- suggesting we "check the we-owe." There was no "we-owe"; the mats were in the vehicle when we bought it, and the dealership misplaced them. I then spoke to the sales manager, **Zeeshan**, who said he'd look into it but never followed up. After that, I emailed the new general manager, **Jason Bulthuis**, on April 1st, 2026. He didn't reply until I called him on April 3rd, 2026. To his credit, he apologized and agreed the situation wasn't handled properly. Jason said he'd have his used-car sales manager, **Daniel Raba**, take care of it, and even offered to buy a replacement set near my home rather than making me drive back. That sounded great -- until they both stopped responding entirely. GHOSTED AGAIN It's now been well over two weeks, and I've received zero communication despite further calls and emails. Every person I dealt with there has failed to follow up or take responsibility (over a lousy set of $150-$200 car mats on a $45,000 car). Once they make the sale, it seems customer service stops completely. I'll never buy from this group again. Do yourself a favor -- take your business somewhere that values integrity and follow-through. Honda of Libertyville has shown me they do not. I hope the owner of Honda of Libertyville (Murgado Automotive Group, led by CEO Mario Murgado) sees this and knows who he has working for him. Absolutely pathetic !!! Tarnishing his trusted name over a few hundred bucks. Just wait until I pay to have a Blow Up Rat placed outside on the sidewalk protesting on a Saturday, how crappy the service is. I wonder how many deals will turn away. Well over $200 worth, I'm sure. The End - One Angry Customer
