Love to support small businesses but unfortunately this was not a good experience. The service was good. He checked on us often and attended us well. The restaurant looked clean just a little outdated. Now the food.... First off the complimentary bread was toasted hot dog buns! WHAT! Never have experienced that before and I have eaten Peruvian food my whole life. That really needs to change. I don't feel it is appropriate to the type of restaurant it is, honestly seems cheap. We got a Chicken Saltado from the dinner special menu that came with a chicken soup and some of the pieces of chicken tasted off. I couldn't finish the rest of it as I was afraid to get sick. My husband got the Lomo Saltado and that was not Lomo. It was definitely a cheaper quality meat that tasted more gamey and chewy. Unfortunately, we will not be returning here due to this. My family has been coming here for the past 27+ years. We've left the state, but every time we are back in town we make sure to stop by and get our fill. We enjoy the jalea, papa à la huancaina, and an extra side of fried yuca. My husband also loves their lomo saltado. Service was great! I thought the food was just okay, but my husband and mother in law are from Peru, and she had quite a bit to say about how the food was made lol. The pollo a la brasa was just a regular rotisserie chicken, none of the usual seasonings and there was no sauce to go with it. I got the arroz chaufa de pollo and it was SO plain. The tarallines verdes de milanesa was pretty delish, that was the best out of all. Also, the maracuya juice was NOT homemade, it was Welch's! The decor was nice with beautiful paintings, but they were playing a repo TV show from the early 2000's the entire visit and the constant bleeping out of curse words was quite annoying. It would've been nice to have Peruvian music or something playing. read more

We typically have good experiences with Inka Mama's and Delicias Peruanas in Lake Forest but it's only our second time here... that will change. Our typical staples (lomo saltado and ceviche) were really great, especially the meat on the former.... Service was extremely attentive, but it was quiet on that particular (Tuesday) night. Not as busy as the Inka family of restaurants but I'd like to visit for lunch one day, typically a lot busier which would help the whole atmosphere. read more

Hole in the wall Peruvian food place that has been here for 20 plus years. Orlando, the owner, is a one of a kind guy who takes pride in running his restaurant. The food that you will order here is like going to your friend's house. It has a home cook feel with very unique and tasty flavors. My friends and I love the chicken soup, combination fried rice, and all the saltados. Most days you'll find Orlando providing table service. My friend Jimmy and I went to Nory's last Saturday and it was fantastic! There a change of fish in the ceviche and taste the difference BIG time!! Now they use Mahi Mahi a much firmer fish and it was super delicious. My friend and I congratulated the owner Orlando on the switch from tilapia to mahi mahi. Hidden Gem Alert! Located in a quiet, backstreet strip mall, I stumbled upon this place one day while dropping off items at a nearby Salvation Army. I love Peruvian food and made the effort to return a few weeks later for lunch. The interior is on the small side with 8 booths and 8 tables plus a bigger booth for large parties. A few Peruvian paintings are on the wall as well as a television playing a Peruvian channel via satellite. Minimalistic as far as ambiance but clean and comfy. The owner was the only one working aside from the cook and was very attentive and friendly. Lunch prices (under $10) are an extraordinarily great deal for the quality and amount of food. I ordered lomo saltado (a Peruvian staple) and an Inca Kola to drink. I had a choice of soup or salad and went with the latter. Don't make that mistake. Order the soup. No true Peruvian would order the salad, they are all about soup. I just happen not to care for soup plus it was a hot day so I went with the salad which was rather pathetic - just a bunch of lettuce with a slice of tomato and a slice of cucumber. Some bread was also brought out. Nothing fancy but toasted rustic bread just like what you'd find in Peru. This is exactly the sort of bread delivered by some guy pulling a wooden cart through the neighborhood that you'd flag down like an ice cream truck in Peru (I'm speaking from multiple experiences and as a counterpoint to the reviewer who whined about the bread). Some aji sauce was provided for the bread which Americans use but Peruvians don't...at least not on bread but they use it on meat and potatoes. But don't let that stop you - it's delicious sauce on anything. The lomo saltado came out piping hot with the traditional side of rice. The slices of beef, tomato, onion and french fries were superb. Personally I like the dish with the potatoes cut thicker than the thin ones served here but that's just my personal taste (I feel that thicker potato slices gets less mushy). But definitely a delicious, authentic lomo. I'll definitely be back to try the rotisserie chicken. If you like Peruvian food that hasn't been Americanized, this place is a winner. read more
