They have the Peruvian classics like lomo saltado, tallarine verde, and chaufa but you can also find great fish and lamb dishes as well. And of course the green sauce - so good! The food was incredible. Two in our party ordered the lomo saltado with beef and one ordered the lamb with rice (Cabrito Norteno). I got the Tallarines Verdes with Shrimp. We got the box of Peruvian cookies called Alfajores Box. The cookies were delicious, but expensive $15 for 10 very small cookies (it tastes just like Porto's Dulce de Leche Besito cookies and Porto's cookies are bigger and cost $10.75 for a dozen). So skip the Alfajores Box. Get the Sweet Passion dessert. It was a syrup infused chocolate cake slice with lucuma ice cream (so delicious). The staff were friendly and attentive. I want to rate this place better because the service was just that good. They were extremely nice and attentive. They had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The place is decorated as if you were in Peru. The pesto pasta was sorta lacking in flavor including the beef that it came with. The chicken stew was a bit salty but full of flavor and very fragrant. The lomo saltado was good, but barely had any pieces of steak. I usually get the lamb stew and that is always good, but for $30 for a lunch entree, I decided to explore other items on the menu. Had a great time here! I have been at other locations but this location is great! Our waitress was so sweet, fun, and kind. We had a girls night out for dinner and she just made us feel at home . Came here to get the Saltados which were so good, both the feed and chicken flavor. We tried one of their signature drinks which was similar to Jamica, but different. We try a garlic shrimp dish, but the shrimp were lacking the true garlic flavor. Normally this would reduce the number of stars, but the other items were so damn good that they made up for it. Almost forgot about the bread and sauce they serve, oh my god is it good. Lastly we tried there caramel cookies that are made in house and they were the BOMB. Good food and good service, but an item on the credit card receipt left a bad taste in my mouth. We were not shown an itemized bill at the end of the meal, only a credit card device that displayed the total amount. I added a tip and pressed the button for a printed receipt. As we were leaving, I was not given the receipt until I went up to the counter to ask for it. Then I saw a credit card surcharge of 3% on the receipt. The charge was not a big deal, but the failure to disclose the surcharge ahead of time, failing to provide an itemized bill before asking for my credit card, and failing to provide the receipt without having to come ask for it is a sneaky way to get a few extra bucks and a lousy way to treat customers. Otherwise, I would have given the place five stars. read more

The fact that the customers are all Latino, regardless of age, indicates that this restaurant is authentic. The Shrimp Causa, a classic Peruvian appetizer, was the best dish of the night. The filling, similar to Taiwanese egg salad but with added shrimp, was sandwiched between two patties of pressed mashed potatoes and topped with Huancaina, which tasted like a Peruvian mayonnaise. The portion was large enough for three people to share. The Cabrito Norteño had no gamey taste and was stewed until tender, allowing the meat to be easily separated with a spoon. The only downside was that the lamb shank sauce was slightly too salty. Sweet Francesca's crepe had a soft and springy texture. The bananas had no off-putting fruity smell and were fried to perfection without being dry. The ice cream cut through the sweetness of the powdered sugar and chocolate sauce. The Peruvian non-alcoholic specialty drink, Chicha Morada, made with cinnamon, lime, and purple corn, is worth trying. We came here as a party of 6 on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant wasn't too busy and so we got seated right away. I've heard raving reviews about Inka Mama's for quite some time so I was excited to experience dining here. Our server greeted us right away and served us with complimentary bread. Disappointed. We came for lunch and ordered the Saltado Specials which is offered with chicken or beef. Two at our table ordered the chicken and I asked if I could get half chicken and half beef, but the server shook her head and said no. So I just went with the beef. Our 3 plates came quick, so the service was extremely fast. However, the protein portions were absolutely pathetic. A few tiny pieces of chicken were sparse and my beef was the same! The plates were almost all rice, fries and grilled onions. Literally two bites and the meat was gone. The plates did come with a small cup of soup, which was a nice touch, but did not make up for the ridiculously tiny portion of protein for $16. I got back to work and was still hungry. On the left is the chupe de Cameron (get this if you love creamy garlic deliciousness - so much shrimp in there) and the back dish is the chaufas with beef (also so great and flavorful). We really enjoyed our meal here tonight. We arrived around 5:30 PM on a Saturday night, and there was plenty of seating. But by 6 PM, it was getting pretty full as it's not a large dining room. The service is friendly, and, once we ordered, the food came out piping hot in probably an under eight minutes. I enjoyed the Saltado with shrimp. I love that they throw french fries in it! It was very good. My husband liked his seafood fried rice. He got quite a bit so we took home half to enjoy for lunch the next day. We'll be back! Yes! Yes! Yes! This restaurant deserves 5 stars of perfection. Out of all the Peruvian restaurants I've eaten at this is by far my favorite. Nestled in a plaza you walk inside and there is plenty of seating. I was greeted right away and place is kept clean. Customer service was prompt and courteous. Menu was full of a variety of options. I narrowed my option down to a fish platter and it was delicious. They give you complimentary fresh made bread with a green sauce that has a small kick as well. Little one had a chicken soup that she devoured. Every bite made you want more and more! I'll be back often from here on out. Wow so impressed by the tenderloin lomo saltado! Probably one of the best that I've had. The meat was just so tender, so juicy and flavorful. It was perfect. Veggies and fries still crisp, but sauced and sautéed just the right amount without becoming a soggy mess. Pricing is pretty standard for this dish, especially with the quality meat. Great food and great service! It's been several years since we visited and I was a little surprised about how much the prices have gone up but we are finding that everywhere in California. The portions are large so it's still a decent value considering my wife and I both had enough for lunch the next day. We tried the calamari for the first time and it was AMAZING!! Delicious food, superb service! We had fun trying Peruvians beers! We enjoyed the complimentary bread - the green sauce was fantastic - creamy but light and just a bit spicy. For appetizer, we shared shrimp causa - creamy potato, fresh shrimp covered in the delectable huancaina sauce. For entree, I had the arroz con mariscos - Peruvian paella - ample seafood with flavorful rice. My husband had the piqueo andino - sampler of various appetizer items. The chicken and beef empanadas had tasty filling surrounded by crispy pastry. The chicharron de polo was outstanding - perfectly seasoned and crispy chicken. The chicken tamale and papa a la huancaina were both delicious as well. What really made our experience exceptional was our server! Our server was outstanding - friendly, helpful, attentive. This is a little gem nestled in the Foothill Ranch Towne Center. They also have locations in Aliso Viejo, San Clemente, Santa Ana, and Tustin, but I've only been to this one (so far). I came here with my family on a Tuesday evening, around 6:45pm. This was my second or third time dining here. I've ordered take out a couple of times over the years, and the food has been consistently good, so it was sad to see how empty it was (there was one other party inside). With changing times and dining preferences, and inflation to top it off, I'm assuming a lot of mall restaurants are on the same boat. I'm sure it's busier during lunch hours though. I do like the usual Peruvian fare such as mama scampi, saltados, and tallarines verdes, but one of my favorites here is the camaron al ajo (now $24.75). I showcased that in my last review 12 years ago, too, lol. It is shrimp sautéed in tangy garlic lime sauce served with rice and salad. We also ordered the calamari frito ($17.70) to start with. The calamari was good. Hot, crispy and tender. The tomato sarza criolla on top added a nice tang that cut the fried-ness (if that makes sense). The rice portion has gotten smaller on the camaron al ajo, but still had a generous amount of shrimp. I love tangy, so I love the sauce as well as the very tangy salad dressing. The shrimp this time was on the border of fresh/not as fresh, maybe because it's early in the week (I'm assuming that restaurants stock up towards the mid to end of the week to gear up for the weekend crowd), but I still slurped up the entire dish clean. Everyone else liked their dish, too. We totally ate up the complimentary bread with the green sauce, so I had to order a 16oz container of green sauce and extra bread to take home. Spicy and makes me sweat, but SO GOOD. Prices have definitely gone up and portion sizes slightly smaller so can't leisurely eat here, but still a good option for the occasional gatherings. read more

Evangelous welcomed us nicely and we told him we come from the bay area and taking the kids to Disney but that the kids had no idea. I was in this area for work and my boss was hitting all his favorites and this was one of them. Kind of a hidden gem, great authentic food, large portions, fast service. I'll start off by stating that I do not like giving bad reviews. However, I was disturbed by the duplicate charge to my credit card. I hate to admit that I believe this was intentional and not a mistake. I do hope I'm wrong but unfortunately perception becomes our reality. I had to return the following day to address the matter. I was told, I assume by the owner or one of the owners, that this was a mistake made by the credit card company. I told her that I doubted her assessment but did not make an issue of it. The next day a credit was issued by the restaurant. Regarding the food, I'm in agreement with other reviewers. It is overpriced for what you're getting, this includes their beverages (was charged $4.75 for Coke!). The value is just not there, at least not in my opinion. Please make sure to check your credit card transactions after dining here, especially if you're sharing a plate. I don't think they like that, especially the waiters. Although our waiter was very pleasant, I believe she may have been responsible for charging us twice. read more

I want to like them .... I really do. The service and staff are always kind and my family and I have had really good meals in the past. However, the last three times was not great with 2 times being very disappointing. One time the lomo saltado was decent but quite a bit over cooked that it lost a bit of flavor. The 2 times mentioned had to do with the ceviche (halibut). The first time everything tasted off (had it many times there) from the potatoes to the fish and lo and behold, got ill (stomach) later that night/early morning. And more recently, the fish tasted mushy from a texture context. The spice level was quite a bit higher, whether that was on purpose or not I'm not sure. I spit the fish out bc I knew it was either old or not stored properly. Also they have gotten stingy on the amount of bread. Hope they can figure it out! read more

Got the "combinados," - I chose chicken for my protein, and the dish came with sautéed onions, tomatoes, white beans, and rice. Delicious and filling! I also tasted my husbands dish, the "tallarines verdes," which was breaded chicken breast with spaghetti in a basil cream sauce. LOVE!! Will likely get that one next time for myself. This was our second time eating at Inka Mama's and the food was equally as tasty both times. We had the Empanada's (beef (3.8/5) and chicken (3.6/5)) and Shrimp Causa (3.6/5) appetizers, and the Maracuya (passionfruit (2.5/5)) drink. We're glad we tried them but they aren't worth the price. We had the Cabrito Norteño (Lamb stew 4.2/5)) and Chupe de Camarón (Shrimp soup (4.0/5)). The lamb had a little gaminess that helped enhance the flavor. The shrimp soup was pleasant and reminded me of my mom's homemade soup. Would recommend both dishes! For dessert, we had the Sweet Francesca (4.5/5). Absolutely delicious, if you like plantain, but was almost too sweet from the condensed milk.
