First time I went here. Just went through the drive thru. Ordered the Italian sandwich. Guy at the drive thru didn't speak to me at all....ok. No biggie. People have bad days. Now I'm not one really for chain sub shops, but Potbelly and Firehouse are the top two best places in. Green Bay to go for sandwiches. Their "You Pick 2" combo gives you a hefty smaller sandwich, and your choice of salad, soup, or Mac and cheese. Now the Mac and cheese isn't that great, but if you have the chance, grab the loaded baked potato or chicken and dumping soup to go with your sandwich. I'm one for the A'wreck with extra sauce. Looking for good soup? The classic tomato is so scrumptious! It started as a simple search for restaurants that deliver soups turned into a new place I will want more food from! With the soup they gave a generous portion of oyster crackers. The order also included a strawberry smoothie, mac and cheese with bacon and a banana milk shake. For the positive, the meatball sandwich is the best in Green Bay- just in a class by itself. When you ask for ingredients they give you a nice amount - not the pitiful offerings of Subway. If we're being brutally honest here, it's that the only thing that's really good at potbelly's is their shakes and especially there Oreo cookie shakes but they don't do the cookies on the straw. We first tried Potbelly when we were in Milwaukee and the sandwiches were delish, but the service was very rude. So when we saw that there was a Potbelly in Green Bay, we thought we would give it another chance thinking the service can't be that bad. It's a different location. We were wrong. There were 4 workers and we had the unpleasant experience working with them all. I was super surprised. Maybe I am missing something and this is just the type of workers they want. But unfortunately, I am not sure if I will be going back to Potbelly as we didn't have a very good experience this time around either. When it's one person that is rude, yes you can justify by thinking, maybe they are just having an off day or something happened. You can't hold that against an employee because it happens to all of us every now and then. But when it's the entire staff that are rude. Then I don't know?! read more

I was pretty excited when I heard a Potbelly's was coming to GB. I've been to the locations in Madison and really enjoyed their warm and tasty sandwiches. They're also known their soups and shakes/malts/smoothies. The order processing was a little confusing as you go past the cash register and sandwich makers to a dead end with a cooler of sodas and the menu up above. You then order your sandwich at the dead end. Their sandwich sizers are Original, Flat, and Big. There's also a Skinny option which is just less of everything. You then work your way back to add toppings to your sandwich. The options are limited if you compare them to Subway, but they still have all the important fixings that you need. When I finally got to the (only) cashier, she told me one moment and had to pour a cup of soup which wasn't for me. I was a little confused as they seemed to have plenty of staff, yet the whole process felt like it took a little longer than it should have. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt as they've been open for a few weeks. With that being said, I still loved my sandwich. If you're a meat lover, I'd recommend getting the A Wreck (salami, roast beef, turkey, ham & swiss cheese). I got my sandwich to go which was kind of a mistake as the smells of the warm sandwich reached my nose and made me salivate. I barely made it home before taking a bite of the sandwich. I'm so glad that this shop is in town! The location is poor because if you don't know how to get in there, then it's very easy to miss! Their subs are my go to sub. I could literally eat their ever day. The decor is very Green Bay, for me not being from Wisconsin it was very overwhelming and too much for me, but I know other people really like it. What a friendly place to stop and get a quick lunch. I ordered the skinny turkey on whole wheat. I love their bread it is crisp on the outside after being toasted and soft on the inside. They have a ton of options for toppings I picked the traditional lettuce, tomato and mustard options. I like that the sandwich was smaller and I paired it with the spicy enchilada soup. This was the second go at Potbelly's since they opened in Green Bay. Let's just say, I left there feeling less full than I was confused with what they had going on. So as others have said, the setup was weird. On top of that, going in around lunch time, I had to go around people already waiting for their food orders to the other end to order my sandwiches, or walk through a line of people to get to the other line of people waiting to order. Being there's a wall on the one side of this area, it was a bit bottlenecked. I ordered a Mediterranean sub. Then I also ordered a Hammie, which the gentleman on the other end didn't acknowledge, so I asked if he heard me. He said he had, but no eye contact, no response, I wasn't sure. I also ordered a cup of soup which again no response so I don't know if he heard me. Make my way down to add additional fixings and the next gentleman asks me if I had the "hummus sub." I said I had the Mediterranean and it had hummus on it, but was really confused by his question. (I'll get back to that.) So he hands me my two subs in bags and then says have a good day. I EASILY could have just left at that point; no payment, just left (and this was the case for EVERYONE that came in after me as I watched it happen over and over again.) There was no one at the register, I still didn't have any soup, and my daughter took a bag of chips. Now, I'm an honest person, so we paid for everything. However, I would think as a business they would want to make sure people are paying for what they get. There was absolutely 0 communication between the guy who made the sandwiches and the cashier who eventually came to take my money. I could've added whatever I wanted to those things and never paid a dime extra, or like I said, paid at all. Going back to the hummus comment, we sit down and I open my sandwich. It literally was a hummus sandwich. Like just hummus and the few things I had added on top of what is supposed to be on it. I don't know who was supposed to, but the two sandwich guys never put on ANYTHING that made it a Mediterranean sub. I was super disappointed and at that point so confused. Why would someone order just a hummus sandwich? Was I the first person in the history of their time there/since the store opened that ordered this sandwich? The one right off the board of sandwiches that I could have easily gone behind the counter and made myself? The one that I told them I had ordered and referred to it by name AND pointing it out? Add to it the 20-30 people in line, the 5 people that went back up before me to tell them their orders were missing something/something was wrong, and I had had it. I didn't even bother going and talking to them about it because it was such chaos I didn't want to be that person getting in line to have a correction made when so many were waiting to get their order to begin with. The first experience was not any better. Very little communication, no cashier, just not as busy so all these things were easily corrected. I can't review the sandwich because I didn't actually get what I was supposed to. The soup was very good. I would go back if I knew the experience would be different. But seeing as how this seems to be a common review trend and they've been open this long, I don't know if it will. read more

Got the crew together for lunch today and even brought along a special guest star (a lady) to help with the review. Food was awesome, live music from two older gentleman that included the harmonica (which is pretty much the best lunch music) was great, so whats not to like? Well the reason for only 4 stars is pretty much the price, it was about $12 for a big sandwich, drink and chips. Like I said the food was awesome and I am full but as they say $12 is $12 ;) I've been to plenty of these franchises and this one was not the fastest however they were friendly, did a good job and the place was clean. I'm a diehard Potbelly fan, always happy to give them five stars for their food and service. It is with some personal dismay that I change my review to take a star away because of their drive-thru service. To me, attention to detail is very important in the drive-thru because I don't want to disassemble all my food while sitting there to make sure it's right, and this is where Potbelly Green Bay is falling down. I can let one go, but the last two times the lack of attention to detail has left me feeling slighted. My last order I specified hot peppers on the side, because I'm selective about their pepper mix and they tend to overload. I checked the bag, and I didn't have the peppers so I had to ask for them. Once I got home, I found out why--my sub was overloaded with hot peppers even though the label was clearly marked SD (side dish). The time before, it was a bigger mistake--I ordered an Uptown salad straight up, and when I got home I realized there was no chicken on it--again clearly marked on the label. I hate when I am excited to try a new place and end up with a bad experience, this was the case for me tonight at Potbelly. The shop is cool looking and clean and there are plenty of selections. The food is average, I had A Wreck and it was okay, it looked better than it tasted. The Mac and cheese with bacon was awful, bland and flavorless, and the bacon was chewy, rubbery and inedible. More disappointing than the food is the service and the attitude of the staff tonight. The set up to order seems backwards and clumsy, it wasn't busy when were there but I can't imagine what it would be like when it is. It was difficult to place your order because there are loud fans overhead and the music was also quite loud. When the guy behind the counter asked you a question you had to ask "what" two or three times before you could hear him, he apparently found this quite amusing because he kept laughing at us. It was the same with the girl that asks what you want on your sandwiches, you would think that they would figure out if they can't hear me and I can't hear them perhaps the music is too loud. At any rate the three workers seemed very amused by making us feel stupid, I get they are probably high school kids working a part time job and don't really care but they should at least be smart enough to not make fun of the customers right in front of them. The decor and feel of the place is fun! The menu had great options for the whole family. My boyfriend got a large Italian style sub, my son got a small pizza sub with a banana smoothie, and I got a Mediterranean salad. The only bad part of the dining experience was the young man who was supposed to be in charge of making my salad was clearly not paying attention and forgot to make it. So the boys got their sandwiches and I had to wait for someone to make my salad. I wish millennials had better work ethic! We will go back again because the food was very good. read more

I have eaten here a few times since they opened and the sandwiches are great! There is a lot of variety on the menu with some pretty unique sandwiches. The first time I came, I had never been to a potbelly's before so I was a little confused ordering and made comments like "not sure I'm doing this right" but the employees didn't really offer any help or reassurance. I am short so I couldn't see over the counter where they add toppings to your sub. Why isn't it clear so you can see the toppings? It makes for an awkward ordering experience. They have their sandwiches which you can choose what to put on them. They have skinny sandwiches for those who want something under 400 calories. They have salads for those who do not want a sandwich. They have soups, shakes/malts and smoothies. They even have macaroni and cheese. The sandwiches are toasted.
