We had lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. It was pretty busy so we had to wait to be seated. We sat down to wait in the area between the 2 doors at the entrance (not sure what you call that space). That was a mistake. Just don't do it. There is an ear piercing sound when the doors open that prompted us to walk back into the front of the restaurant and stand awkwardly with the other people waiting for a table. They bring out this delicious bread with an cheesey, garlicy, peppery oil that is amazingly good. The waitress warned us that it is addictive and she was right. If there is a next time I'll just ask that they not bring it to the table which is easier than trying to stop myself from consuming the entire basket. Anyway, the food was fine. My turkey burger was good and the salad that comes along side was nice. My husband enjoyed his salad with steak tips. The service was very friendly if a little slow. The gal that brought out the food forgot to bring the dressing to we had to wait awhile for our server to get it out to us. I'm looking forward to trying some additional things on the menu but I'll wait til it's not so busy. read more

Rarely do I give the coveted 5 star review, especially for a chain restaurant. In fact, I went back twice before composing this, just to be sure that the first visit wasn't a fluke. I even brought some "Joe's virgins" with me to get their takes. Final vote? Simply awesome. On my first visit, a lunch hour, I had the veggie spring rolls and the Not Your Average house salad. Both were made with incredibly fresh ingredients and didn't leave me feeling guilty for eating out (again). My husband had the steak tostada and he was nothing short of impressed - which is a miracle since he is meticulous about restaurant food. The second visit was a family dinner. I loved the spring rolls so much that I got them again, but this time I also ordered the ahi tuna wantons (which can be served on cucumber slices instead of wantons to up the healthy factor). Both dishes were super yummy, just as expected. My husband got the steak fries and was once again 100% satisfied with the quality. My parents ordered the pork tenderloin and the haddock, and both said they would recommend their dishes to others. Additionally, the drink menu is extensive, the service is friendly, ALL of the food is made from scratch, and the atmosphere is modern but still cozy. Very neat place has many choices on the menu as well as many choices of good draft beers also has plenty of big-screen TVs to watch any sporting that you want very nice dining room. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable also willing to change channels to whatever sporting event you want to watch. read more

Honestly this place is just average. The food was good, on par with similar restaurants. I enjoyed the bread and dipping out. The chicken dumplings were great, the burger however was very charred tasting for being medium. This place does a great job at social distancing and other safety protocols in the dining area. The one thing that was a concern to me is the kitchen area. As I was eating I noticed what looked to be like the head chef pick up either lettuce or cilantro, I really don't know what it was. He picked it up with his bare hands was complaining to the staff about it put it back into the container and then sealed it and put it back on the shelf which definitely is not following proper food prep safety. I remember going to NYAJ in the past and really enjoying it .. not enough to write a glowing review but always had a nice time and felt like the meal was pretty satisfying. We all just go for the bread and oil concoction anyways, don't we? This past time I went and was so extremely underwhelmed with the food quality it was sad. I left annoyed that I had just wasted my money there. Drinks were inconsistent and unbalanced, food was not appetizing. We ordered the "four cheese pasta al forno" ... and wow .. pretty much this was a scoop of thin, poorly done, pink vodka impersonation sauce with a shallow serving of over cooked pasta shells and one melted 1 inch ball of mozzarella. On top of that the menu boasted about this "special Al Forno oven" that was used for this dish. The pasta came out on a regular glass dish and so clearly was NOT even baked in a special oven. This dish was terrible. $17 for this pasta dish. We also ordered a Cobb salad which was just okay.$16 for this salad .. it had 3 brown pieces of avocado and a long way to go from being a $16 salad. Bread and oil, parm, pepper flakes, garlic dip was good ... but not good enough to make up for terrible kitchen execution this time. If I do decide to go back to NYAJ it'll be for halfway decent drinks and excellent bread .. probably nothing else. read more

It's like NYAJ knew I was bound to move back to Rhode Island and opened this location just in time. (During my time living in Watertown, MA I would frequent both the Watertown and Burlington, MA locations.) This is really one of the only chain restaurants I allow myself to frequent. I love that each location has it's own personality in setup and decor, but the staff is friendly and courteous and the food is delicious no matter which location you choose to frequent. Upon arrival you are served their (made in house) rosemary focaccia bread with an olive oil, Parmesan cheese, crushed red pepper mixture that is incredible. Trust me, you'll find it hard to stop yourself and save room for your actual meal. The Chicken Mona Lisa salad is to die for. (I'm not one to order the same thing on multiple visits if I haven't tried everything on the menu first, but I break my own rule when it comes to this salad.) I can honestly say I've tried most of their menu offerings, and the only item I would not recommend is the meatloaf. I've been on a huge spicy watermelon margarita kick this summer and theirs does not disappoint. Try it and thank me later! For dessert, I highly recommend their peanut butter thing. (Yes, that's actually what it's called.) But let's be honest, you really can't go wrong with ice cream, Oreo, peanut butter, caramel and hot fudge. And last but not least, if you take just one thing away from this review have it be to sign up for their email club! There are currently two versions of their birthday coupon (1) which allows you to get a free entree AND dessert and (2) $15 off (which still covers the cost of most of their entrees). However, if you are lucky enough to score the free entree and dessert coupon they will remove the birthday girl/boys selection, not the cheapest meal on the bill. read more

Friendly staff, nice ambiance (kind of modern industrial). Average menu price is $11-$12. I thought it was slightly pricey when I saw the menu, but you get what you pay for here. It's all fresh food. The pre-meal bread is baked fresh daily and the dipping sauce is dangerously good. I had the chicken enchiladas and they were perfect. From the rice, to the sauce, it seemed that attention to detail wasn't lost on any portion of the meal. The presentation of the food was classy and overall I was impressed. 20 beers on tap with a large bar area too. The waitress told me it is a locally owned restaurant and the owner has several other stores in the area. I'll definitely be back. read more

I'll be honest to say I didn't have high expectations for this chain restaurant next to a mall, but I was pleasantly surprised. The waitress was fantastic, had a great sense of humor and was very accommodating to my gluten free friend. Drinks were very good and prices were reasonable. The nachos are definitely not your average so if you are expecting traditional nachos overflowing with chips and topping, this is NOT for you. There were a handful of chips layered neatly on top of each other with individual toppings. My friends had the chicken lettuce wraps and really enjoyed those. I had the chicken enchiladas and for not being a Mexican restaurant, I was very pleased with my dish. I like the fact that they make everything to order and everything is fresh. It makes a difference in the taste and quality of food. This is a great place for a group and reasonably priced, good food. read more

I booked a table for 9 and was promptly seated within minutes of arriving. The waitress was quick to greet us and kept our drinks full throughout dinner. There was quite a variety of food available which was perfect for such a large group. My children even found the kid's menu to be good. I'm from Mass and was always a fan. Relocated to Warwick and pleasantly surprised when a location opened up at the Mall. We've been at least 4 times since the opening and it has always been pleasant. I love their creative menu most of all! Today there was a minor setback with our Ahi Tuna Wontons (a favorite) and all I can say is they handled it professionally, apologetically and they replaced it with a fresh order, and took it off the bill. The manager came to talk to us later and that's all I'll ever expect in such circumstances. Acknowledgement, friendliness and resolution. Our waitress was mortified and my nature was to feel bad for her! LOL Anyway, I still love the wontons app, and my burger was cooked perfectly medium. I'm a great cook but I have a hard time with burgers! My husband's chicken piccata was good, but the only thing I'd say is that it was one small cutlet. Very small for an entrée. They treated us nicely, I love their menu, the drink specials are great. So we'll go back. :) read more

Did a take out order last night. Usually with take out orders, I do expect soggy fries and " this probably would have been excellent if we ate at the restauant". Fries, perfect. Pretty good food with a very modern take on American fare. Imagine a Chili's or Applebee's upscale modernized with an updated menu; now as you know part of that is really good part of that is not so good. The ingredients do not taste that fresh and the food is prepared extremely fast. Every time I sit at the bar here I always have the worst service. Unfriendly brunette girl who practically rolls her eyes when you sit down. Can't make a recommendation when asked. Just says whatever you're in the mood for. My friends and I were uncomfortable. It's a shame because I absolutely love the food here. I was speaking about it to a friend of mine who manages a restaurant. He also commented that he has always had poor service here. It's great that they use fresh ingredients and have seasonal menus, but if the service isn't up to par then what's the point? I'm adding an additional star because I had such a fast response from management here. They clearly care about what their customers think. I'm going to give it another shot here soon and hopefully things will improve. I want to give this place 5 stars. read more

This place looks pretty cool from the front entrance. Inside ambience was a little all over the place and busy. We started with the Thai lettuce wraps which were good. This is a favorite place for my husband and me. I have tried many different dishes on the menu and have never been disappointed. My favorites are the black bean burger, the crab cakes and the salad with goat cheese. My husband loves the haddock. They offer different creative drink specials seasonally. I like that you can make a reservation, the quality of the food is always great and their prices are reasonable. I have tried three other locations and they are good too. The manager on the other hand found that calling me out for walking in the wrong direction to exit the restaurant in front of another customer would be the way to say have a good night. My second time visiting. Food is average (pun intended) but the reason for the review is bartender Jason. I sat down by myself after a movie, my company puts us up nearby so it was convenient. An additional bartender asked me to close out since there was a shift change, no problem, I ordered one more so that I could leave a tip. Then when the new bartender came in Jason, who had been there the entire time, felt it necessary to label me a "fireside" or "camper" meaning I was taking up space but not ordering. So first off, I spent my college years waiting tables so I know the slang, and secondly I was continuously ordering food and drinks. Completely rude and unprofessional. I can't believe I didn't try this place sooner! It was way better than I was expecting, which I should have probably gathered from the name of the restaurant. They serve you bread with olive oil and it was perfectly seasoned and yummy. :) Everything on the menu looked so good it was hard to decide. I got the chicken breasts with a side of green beans and couscous succotash (couscous with sweet corn and sugar snap peas). Went here for my first time with my GF last night. I'm always skeptical to try these chain type of places but i was impressed. A fairly small menu (compared to Applebees or TGIF) which i think is wonderful. Some really interesting choices on the menu that you don't normally see. I got the Jambalaya and man, it was delicious. My GF got the chicken picatta and was equally impressed. Really large bar with nice televisions and ridiculously comfortable bar stools! I will definitely be back. read more

NYAJ is one of my favorite restaurants. I usually try to avoid the Warwick location simply because the music is too loud but we were in the area and hungry. I ordered an unsweetened iced tea, small Caesar salad and crab cakes. My daughter ordered a large Caesar salad and lemonade. The lemonade was excellent. The crab cakes were excellent. I thought I had remembered past Caesar salads at NYAJ with shaved romano cheese but ours had no cheese. We mentioned this to our adorable waiter and he brought us two small plastic ramekins of grated romano. Not exactly what we were looking for but the Caesar is so wonderful and tart that it wasn't a big deal -- we still ate it! So once again, I love, love, love this restaurant, but I wish they would turn the music down. read more

The Gluten-Free rolls are absolutely magnificent. They make sure to keep it separate from the Gluten ones and are very careful about cross contamination. My son isn't Gluten-Free but we gave him the Gluten-Free one and he couldn't even notice. I 100% recommend you come here if your Gluten-Free. read more

I was at the bar Wensday night having a few drinks with freinds. The food and drinks are exceptional . This Wensday though one of the bar tenders kept bad mouthing the other one when she was not within ear shot. I joked with her about it and she told me in a rude manner to mind my business. I said well if you werent so obviously bad mouthing your coworker I would have not joked about it. I belive her name was cat but I'm not sure. If I were you I would recommend the meatloaf, 4 cheese pasta, the haddock, and the pizza. They have an open restaurant feel we're you can watch the chefs prepare your meal.
