I went here with a small party of 8 on a busy Friday night to celebrate. Our waitress was amazing and very accommodating as our table size fluctuated, giggled and made a mess. Aside from the exceptional service, the food was really tasty, surprisingly so for a chain. That bread and dip they bring out is ridiculously good! I also had the ahi tuna wontons that were amazing. Everyone else enjoyed their food at the table as well, which consisted of veggie burgers and mustard crusted chicken. It was a very good experience and can't wait to go back. read more

Place is nice enough and the staff is friendly. However, the food is below average. BBQ sauce on pork pretzels was too sweet and too slathered on. I had a basic hamburger, medium-well. Burnt and dry. Waiter saw me scraping the charred burnt meat off and didn't say anything. I didn't bother mentioning it since I didn't want another and had no plans of returning. Also, a bit forward/rude to bring the iPhone to your table to take the survey at the end of the meal. So "Not Your Average Joe's" is accurate - it's way, way below average. Best to avoid. read more

My friend and I try to get together at least once a month to chat and catch up. She had an errand to run in Warwick so we decided to stop in for dinner. We had the sweetest server...Logan, who was extremely attentive and friendly. The food was great. We sat for a while chatting and enjoying our food when we realized we were the only people left in the restaurant. The few employees who were still there were standing in the back of the dining area talking, probably waiting for us to leave. At this point, it was 9:18pm so we hurried and grabbed our things and started to leave. A woman who I assume was the manager followed us out to lock the door behind us. We apologized for overstaying our welcome, thinking we'd only done so by 20 minutes. My friend asked what time they closed...her response...8 o'clock. ‍ We literally couldn't apologize enough, then said "Why didn't you tell us? We would've left a long time ago!" She said "I would NEVER tell you to leave. You two looked like you were enjoying yourselves and enjoying your time together. I'm glad you had fun." Besides our utter embarrassment, we were so appreciative of her kindness and sweet demeanor. I wish I would've gotten her name. It was such a pleasant experience and if I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely go back. I'll be sure to check what time they close next time. Lol. read more

We have only eaten here once. It was very crowded on a Friday, with lots of people waiting up to 45 minutes to get in. We had made a reservation and we were seated promptly. This place is very popular, likely because it is new and also because RI is "starved" for restaurants in this market segment. The decor is nice, new, clean, comfortable and airy with an open kitchen and a huge bar. The server was very attentive and quick. She was almost too attentive, but I chalk this up to inexperience and great desire to please. Not a complaint, just a comment. The bread is delicious. Their bread dip is great. It looks and tastes like Parmesan mixed with oil and red pepper flakes. Yummy! The NE style clam chowder was excellent, which is saying a lot because the bar is high for quality clam chowder her in Quahog, USA. The Caesar salads are great, one of the best in this dining segment in RI. And I have tried them all. The bread triangles they serve with them are tasty, too. We were less impressed with the entrees. The meatloaf was fair only. It was under seasoned and barely warm. The "gravy" is pretty ordinary BBQ sauce. The mashed potatoes were barely warm but tasty.The fried onion strips were at room temperature. The chicken piccata was only fair. They use a cream based sauce, which even with lemon and capers is not a common way to do it. Unfortunately the cream, which adds fat, didn't really justify the overall blandness of the dish.It was also barely warm. My daughter had chicken strips with fries which were just ordinary. Barely warm and dry. They were just below average for this dining segment (and yes, we have tried them all). I'll try appetizers, pizza, and burgers in the future. Those are a big part of the menu.Unimpressed with their entrees we tried. I'm sure they will earn 4 or more stars as they gain experience at this site.I'll re-post in the future. read more

Amazing, and defiantly NOT your average place. If your looking for your typical burger and fries I'm sure they will give it to you but there is so much more in their variations why would you want to. If your a little worried or unsure about what to pick your server will have no problem giving you some insight along with some good humor and a warm chuckle that will make you feel at home ( thanks Matt D and his very nice trainee) . I quickly realized this man knew his stuff because I wish I had listened to him about a pitcher of Olympic Sangria ( we both had 2 they were so good). On the menu they had something for everyone ,even the foodie . Some combinations you won't see at your typical chain.....really , pistachio crusted baked haddock with smoked Gouda polenta, Braised short ribs with portabello shataki mushroom risotto and that was just on the specials menu. I had the fish tacos with fried plantains (also on the specials) cooked just right light breaded avocado secret sauce fresh lime to squeeze to my liking . My Mom had an Amazing Mediterranean turkey kabob ,marinated in spiced yogurt and grilled on a skewer, served with pesto, artichoke and feta orzo and a curried ziziki sauce oh my! And just when we thought we were done desert! All of this served with fun and great info like you can buy your movie tickets there before the show ,or come in with your stub and get 15% off your meal . This should make it an excellent destination for a girls night out or your next date pre or post movie (Fellas ,not having to wait in the ticket line makes points with the ladies ,just sayin :)) And such a nice choice for a rest after a day in the shops. With all of the above ,Not Your Average Joe's is now definitely on my short list for a not so typical good time when I'm out in Warwick. read more

This was my 3rd visit and it won't be my last. Had the meatloaf....again. Between the warm bread and dip and the app, its easy to take half of the meatloaf home for lunch the next day. 2 meals in one. Beer was cold and the service was great. The have Appy Hour from 4-6 and different perks on certain days. I also really like that they change their menu to highlight seasonal ingredients. I Give it an A for space. The place is huge . It's big and bright with lots of windows so if you go for lunch on a sunny day you'll have lots of light. It's clean and modern with a nice menu. That goes a long way in my book. They have Gluten Free options clearly laid out making it easier to decipher. Whether those are any good, who knows. They have bottles of wine on the table if you are interested. I thought that was funny. I was surprised by the menu options, it looked better that I thought for a chain. What I WAS disappointed in, was when I ordered Thai chicken lettuce wraps and out comes Chicken salad in lettuce cups. yeah. Like chicken in a can mashed up with mayonnaise. We have been to this specific NYAJ several times and had the worst people welcoming us at the front desk. Every time we went back because the waiters were fine and the food was good. This time it was out of line...we went there on a Sunday for late lunch. The person at the front desk welcomed us with the same weird attitude we have seen before. Then when we were seated at our tables, the waiter was fine. He brought our drinks and first thing happened was that one of the glasses broke at the bottom and our table was filled with glass pieces. He told us to go to the front desk and ask for a new table. When we did, the same person with the attitude asked us if we spilled water and we told her what happened. With a weird smile on her face, she told us they were going to prepare a table. There were several empty tables and it was Sunday 2pm!!! When we asked again, she said "we are cleaning one for you!". Her tone was unfriendly and not welcoming!!! She finally showed us our table and said nothing when we sat, no apology or nothing!!It wasn't our fault that the glass broke and we are customers!! We called the waiter and asked for the manager. We told her about that person's attitude and she apologized. Later during our lunch that person was chatting with other people in front of us so obviously the manager didn't talk to her. I am done with that place. It is not worth going there and wasting our time and money. I don't go to a restaurant to get an attitude. The one in Seekonk, RI has the same attitude at the front desk. I don't recommend that place if you are considering. read more

Thank you so much to Amy and the great team at NYAJ's! A group of 16 of my coworkers and I came out on our lunch break as a farewell lunch for one of our co-workers. We only have 1 hour for lunch, so we are usually pressed for time to arrive/look at the menu/order/wait for food/eat/pay/get back to the office whenever we go out, causing us not to be able to do it often, or keep everyone stressing on time if we do try. Amy and the team worked excellently with us: we coordinated and ordered ahead of time so everything was fresh and ready minutes after we arrived, ALL the food was delicious, and they were very accommodating to our time schedule. We were able to relax and enjoy our lunch and it was a very nice way to send off our friend/colleague. It also completely changed how our department viewed going out for lunch, turning it from something that was looked at as a worrisome/stressful outing, into something that can be enjoyable and doable for a group our size. Many people commented about how great the food and service was, and to keep in mind for the future! We will surely be back, thank you so much team!! read more

Great place that's not fast food. They start your off with some fresh baked bread that they bake in house, and they serve a delicious olive oil/cheese/red pepper blend. As far as appetizers I love the buffalo wings with the pineapple salsa, nice little twist on a classic appetizer. Food all cooked to order from scratch, they usually have great chef specials. I like the hog heaven sandiwch or the meatloaf. Very clean inside and out, on duty manager usually going around to tables asking how everything is and if you need anything which is very nice. Service is always good, nothing over the top but your not at a five star restaurant, cool and casual, service at the bar can sometimes be spotty. Great place for the family, I take my 6 year old step son and he loves it. Kid friendly, good drinks, great wine and beer selection. Give it a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed. read more

Stopped here for a cocktail after an afternoon of shopping at the mall. Usually not a fan of chain restaurants but decided to try this place instead of the usual Fat Bellys. The decor is actually very nice and they have a neat little fire pit outside the entrance. They have a decent wine list and was able to get a good bottle of red for $35. Try their chicken tender appetizer with fresh pineapple and red onion. I was rather impressed with the quality of food and will certainly come back when I I am not looking for a hefty lunch bill. This is the second Not your Average Joes I've visited in last few months. Each Joe's seems to have the same type of food menu but what is different is the way each location is setup. From the kitchen in this one which can be seen in back of the dining area where you can actually see meals being pre-pared by their chefs I like seeing/knowing what's happening to my food, gives a comforting feeling. Last Friday when we arrived day before Valentine's Day( we made reservations online 2hrs ahead of schedule which was awesome, 1 because there was a 45min wait but we got right in with reservations and 2 making reservations online instead of calling was so easy, definitely recommended. We ordered the Gorgonzola pizza which I've never had there. Anddddddd it was good! Came with a purple type of thin cabbage on top of the yummy cheese with a balsamic drizzle of dressing. Not over powering. I've had many styles of pizza so I will say it's a thin New York type dough pizza with is cooked just right with a crisp. Also get their nachos you won't regret it. We also had a baked fish diner which was yummy. Love their mash potatoes. All in all the service was great, waitress I think was Christina was awesome super funny! read more

A surprisingly good restaurant especially given that it is a chain and located on the grounds of the Warwick Mall. The menu included a wide variety of items to please those with simple or more wide-ranging tastes and the kids menu ACTUALLY INCLUDED VEGETABLE AND FRUIT options. We came here for lorie's bday dinner. I have never been a fan of the menu which I have never done. The only good thing about this place is bread and olive oil, I'll eat that stuff all day. This place never gets busy to later on in the night when people are getting out of the movies or heading home. My family decided to try this place while shopping at Jordans across the street for furniture. When we got there we waited about 15 to 20 minutes, which wasn't bad considering it was busy. After taking several bites of my Thai lettuce wraps, I saw a piece of black curly hair which obviously was not mine because I am blonde. I alerted the waitress and she took the food away but when we received the bill we were charged full price for the food that had hair in it. I ordered the children salmon for my children to split and it was very burnt. We will not be returning to this restaurant ever. I really didn't think I'd ever have a chance to check out this place but I was never really hurt by that fact. The other day the 15 year old in our house directed us towards trying it out when our first plan was cancelled. I was always up for trying it but the other half is a plain meat and potatoes kind of guy. I thought the decore was kind of nice and modern and the fireplace patio out front looks kind of cozy. The complementary bread an oil that was pretty good but that had to be the densest bread I've ever eaten in my life. I spent good 20 minutes watching a very small waitress (or whatever her title was) try and cut through 5 giant wheels of bread like she was trying to weed her way out of the amazon rain forest. I suggest an electric knife to help keep that poor little girls arm from falling off... Meanwhile the bread was pretty good. I ordered the enchiladas that had a green chili sauce on it instead of traditional red. I did like it but it may not be something then I go and crave later. The tastes were very modern compared to what I usually eat but were good. The other half got steak tips and potatoes with green beans and seem to enjoy them. And the 15 year old got his standard buffalo wings to satisfy his Buffalo sauce faze. Overall it was pretty good. There were some higher prices but three of us ate a pretty decent sized meal for about 56 bucks with sodas. I May look to try it out with somebody else another time. Update: the general manager sent me a private message and she is delightful and took ownership of my experience. I truly appreciate the response and it has made my experience better so I updated from 1 star to 3! My original review: I'm pretty easy to please seeing as I can't cook... Anything typically will please me when it comes to food that I'm not cooking- all it takes is good service and a friendly smile. This is not the first time I've been here. The first time it was right after they had opened and I chalked up my off-pudding experience to it being new... The second time they were pretty busy... Both times the food was great and service was sub-par but it seemed that everyone was at least trying. This time I couldn't think of an excuse. I took my daughter to see Cinderella which was longer than I had planned for and she hadn't eaten a proper dinner. When the movie was over it was 9:30 and I checked Not Your Average Joes website and happily discovered that they didn't close till 11. When we arrived it was somewhere between 930 and 9:35 PM. We walked in the door and there was a man standing at the hostess station counting money. He didn't look up and several waitresses walked over and also didn't greet us. They had a side conversation and apparently the waitress was missing $50 from the night before. The man that was standing there said that this money was not for her. After a few minThe gentleman finally sat us right next to the hostess station. He was not friendly and he clearly wanted to get back to the cash register. My daughter and I sat there for over 12 minutes no waitress or waiter acknowledged our presence although there were plenty at the hostess station complaining that they made more money on Wednesday and up till that point had less than $54. At one point I noticed another man dressed in a button up shirt walk over and start assisting the first man. Apparently there was some issue with money. The banter continued between the two men and two waitresses and my daughter and I continued to wait. When the complaining continued I had had enough and decided to take my daughter home and order Chinese food. At least they were happy to take my money. There are plenty of other restaurants with good food but much better service- spend your money where you'll enjoy it and skip this AVERAGE at best spot. read more

This is my 3rd time at Not Your Average Joe. The first time I went when it first open. Not good. Chalked it up to it being new. The 2nd time was just average. Decided to give it one more shop before tossing it aside. Glad I did. The service, as usual, was excellent. The chicken dumplings were fantastic. The side salad was very fresh and the best champagne vinaigrette dressing I ever had. The burger was huge and excellent. The peanut butter thing I had for desert was outstanding. The whole meal blew away all past experience. I am now becoming a Not Your Average Joes regular. read more

We love Not Your Average Joe's! Service is pretty good no matter who you get but Denee is fantastic! Family-friendly with a huge menu (we love the mango buffalo chicken pizza and almond-crusted goat cheese salad with lots of their signature bread and oil!) but also nice for a "grown-up" dinner for two with the Rosemary-skewered scallops over their incredible risotto! Went here for lunch last week and had a pretty rough experience. I ordered the chopped steak salad with no bleu cheese. The waitress brought out my salad but it had a pretty healthy portion of bleu cheese mixed in. This isn't a huge problem so I just give her a heads up and ask for one without bleu cheese, no big deal. So a few moments later my salad comes out with no bleu cheese BUT when I bite into it I notice the steak is extremely chewy. I look to find the steak is, at best, blue rare. At most there was ~1mm of color to the steak and the rest was completely raw. There is no way that steak spent more than 45 sec. per side on the pan. I like a steak cooked rare (never blue rare) but this was completely inedible. I know they rushed it to make sure I wouldn't have to eat alone but severely under cooking meat isn't an option. So sent that back and they took it off the bill. I am still giving three stars as everyone else at my table enjoyed their food, I had some of my wifes lunch and was pretty impressed. I am also gonna say our waitress was excellent, beside the minor slip up (the bleu cheese may have been the kitchens fault so can't blame her) she was great. Overall I won't be going back, I know mistakes happen but any kitchen that runs severely undercooked meat is a no-go. read more

If you ever have the opportunity to visit, you will not be disappointed, we usually sit at the bar where Amy and Caitlyn are the bartenders of the evening. Each of these wonderful bartenders will provide you with a wonderful experience worth coming back for. They are very attentive and are eager to please, whether it is regarding your beverage or your food choice. Amy and Caitlyn are exceptional and they have the experience to provide you with a rememberable evening worth repeating. Don't hesitate to get to know these wonderful women. We would also like to mention the manager's Michelle and Matt, they go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and happy with your dining experience. If you are lucky enough to meet Cara, she is a superb and a caring person that will make sure you have a wonderful time at Not Your Average Joe's.
