YUM!! I had never seen one of these places before, but when I moved to McKinney and drove by them on El Dorado I giggled at their name and knew I had to try them! We went on a Friday evening and found the inside of the store to be cute and welcoming. The two girls working were more than happy to explain everything about the bakery, and even informed us that there are actually a chain of these in DFW and in a few other states! They offer free samples (love it already!) of their flavor of the month, and we caught them during January for their lemon raspberry. From the moment I tasted it, I knew I had found a winner. The cake is moist and richly flavored with a sweet cream cheese drizzle on the top. With the sugary sweetness still on my tongue I gazed over at their bakery case and found several sizes of bundt cakes. They have tiny ones that come in a cupcake like box, slightly larger ones that could serve 1-2 people, and then full size bundt cakes! With flavors like white chocolate raspberry, red velvet, lemon, choco-chip and a few others I can't remember there's really a flavor for everyone. We picked up the red velvet and lemon raspberry and BOTH were amazing, and at only $3 for the mid-sized ones they are well worth it! You can pay an extra $2 for them to individually cellophane wrap the bundtlet, tie with a colorful ribbon and add a blank thank you card. I also like to get the mind bundt by the dozen to take over to parties and get togethers. One year, I had them at my baby shower and added them to a cupcake stand. Super cute because it's the perfect substitute for cupcakes! The bundt cup they come in is also very cute, I usually order in advance over the phone so I don't have to wait long and can just go pick it up. I ordered the dozen "mini-bundt" cupcakes with the various flavors for $18+. Not really happy with the outcome. The chocolate and red velvet ones seemed a bit old. The actual cake portion of it was a bit clumpy. I previously asked if they were made the same day and the front persons said yes but this seemed it was a bit older than "same day." The lemon ones were good. Very similar to what they had as an example. Light... airy... very moist and good taste. The vanilla with red accents were also decent. Unfortunately, there was a bit of a sour taste in those red accents so Ill assume that flavor is just not for me. I would normally give the overall rating a 3 star for the food but I took off another star due to the front people. The store itself didnt have the appropriate numbered candles I wanted to decorate my wifes bday age on the cupcakes so I asked about alternatives. They recommended the sparkler candles and said... they would last 5 minutes minimum guaranteed. Well, 5 minutes turned into 10 seconds in which if you dont know your product then dont make false claims. Especially for $4+ per sparkler... dont lie about it. Umm..YUM! I don't know how I knew this place existed and never have been until recently. The white chocolate raspberry is the best I have had so far and it was amazing! I also tried the chocolate and was not as impressed...felt it wasn't as moist as the other. Not keeping me from going back! They have a lot of cute little items in the store including mini sparklers that BF surprised me with! We couldn't even find sparklers for Independence day so it was really cool to see them! They always have a sample of a different kind of cake when you go in. Once it was the white chocolate raspberry that we ended up ordering and sharing (and BF's known favorite) and the other it was red velvet. The red velvet was really good but it's not a top favorite of mine overall (nothing against nothing bundt cakes). They also add extra icing (my absolute favorite part) for no charge. Pardon my French, but holy shit guys!!! This is possibly the best thing to ever come out of an oven. Dr. S was actually the one who was super gung ho about it at first--his work apparently had some of these catered in and he was instantly hooked. Of course I had read about it when it first popped up on Yelp, but when I finally tried a sample and a bundtlet at the Preston location, I wasn't super impressed. So I had bought a Groupon that expired a couple days before Dr. S' birthday with the intent of getting him a bundt cake as a birthday cake instead of his usual ice cream cake. However, I wasn't counting on the fact that I would have a giant term paper due the day it expired, and I live nowhere near McKinney, so I had a local friend pick it up for me. I was a little nervous it might be tricky doing that but the lady I talked to on the phone made it a breeze. They had everything ready for him when he went and picked it up. We got the White Chocolate Raspberry one with the traditional frosting (8 inch--about 20 bucks) because that's the one he had liked so much. Wow. It was so so so so good. All the sweets and savories from the real swirls of raspberry, cream cheese frosting, and luxurious white chocolate cake danced in perfect harmony on my tongue and made my eyes roll back in my head. I think the large cakes are a lot moister and have a better frosting/cake ratio than the bundtlets so I will definitely go this route in the future. In fact, I may get another one for our upcoming anniversary. And then request another one when my birthday rolls around. I kinda want to try other flavors but I kinda don't see how they can top the white chocolate raspberry one, either.
