This place is soooo cute and they have so many cakes for all different occasions. I wanted to get a cake for my moms birthday but wasn't sure which flavor she would like so I opted to get the buntlets. We had a tasting party to try all the flavors and it was awesome! Our favorites were the chocolate and the white chocolate raspberry. Neither were too sweet and the cake was very moist. I've been back in L.A. for over five years, and I've been waiting for the right occasion to try NBC. Yesterday was the perfect occasion - dinner with my cousin's family. I bought one dozen mini Bundt cakes (bundtlets) - one in each flavor. Needless to say, the bundt cakes were a big hit - with me and everyone else. I had the Red Velvet one, and I've got to say - the creamy cream cheese in the center made it all the better. I picked up my order from the Pasadena shop. Love this place!! My friend and I were driving by when I noticed it. We had lunch and then wanted something sweet. She wasn't too excited to try this place but she had no idea she was going to fall in love. All of the products taste super fresh! We got the white white chocolate, lemon and the pecan. He was really patient with me because they have so many delicious flavors, I couldn't decide so he walked me through their popular bundts. She was giving off a very negative vibe and when I asked her to hand me back my card, she said "I'm 40 years old and you want me to hand you the card?" So good! All the workers here are really friendly and nice. They are super patient and are willing to explain to you anything. I got a deal for a buy one get one buntlet. One bundtlet is $4.49. The lady also offered me a free bunlet for voting for the store for some contest so I ended up getting 3 bunlets for $4.49. Such a good deal! Even if I didn't have the deal, I'd still get it because it's so much better than cupcakes. The cupcakes at other locations are about $3 and they aren't as moist and delicious as these little bunt cakes. I got the chocolate chocolate, which is really moist and delicious. I prefer the bundtlet tower because you can choose up to 3 different flavors and they jazz it up with a bow and a flower (for a little extra) which is worth it if it's for someone special. However, I also ordered 2 boxes of bundtinis (small, cupcake sizes) which were a huge hit for the holidays! But the best time was when I ordered a festive cake and a dozen bundtinis for one of my best friends... This store actually delivered it all the way out to East LA and did so with ease. The good: cakes are oh so very moist. Service is excellent. Shop is cute and clean. They sell candles and other party accessories so this would be a great stop to pick up an adorable looking cake with all the fixings. They offer samples that are presented well. Each sample has a small dollop of frosting on top and I liked how they each had a toothpick so you could easily pick one up without using your fingers. I love sanitary samples! The best thing: a parking lot! I hate having to find parking on Lake Avenue, so to be able to park in their free lot was one of the best things about coming here. The okay: the cakes were too sweet and too rich for me. The frosting was too. A cup of coffee or tea would help cut the sweetness I suppose. I couldn't eat more than one bite at a time. I got the lemon and chocolate mini cakes, which are basically the size of a large cupcake. I generally prefer a lighter cake and even though these were not at all dense, they were a bit much for me. In summary, this place has a lot going for it. I guess I'm just weird when I say the cakes are too sweet because most Yelpers think otherwise. Oh well, try one and come to your own verdict! The bundt cake is amazing! When I first walk in was offer to try the sample of the day, which is the turtle chocolate! And the cashier was so helpful. She explained everything and how the flavors different most of the time depends on the availability. To me it's kinda like sprinkles cupcake but a bit more$$. I got the lemon bundt cake which was so soft and super flavorful. It also jiggles when I shake it :D. One bundt is about 5$ and if you get a dozen mini bundts is about 20$! My favorite is the white chocolate raspberry swirl, although I tries samples of their birthday cake and some other flavor and they were all moist and delicious. The last time I ordered, I ordered the day before the party, since they don't open on Sundays and the cake was still moist. I went online to order a cake and scheduled my pick-up time, chose my cake, and then when I put in all my credit card information, the system said my pick-up time was not not available. I called and they said they were booked and I could not make an online or phone order, but I could come in and order. I said i just wanted a red-velvet cake and asked if I could pay over the phone and come in and pick it up later in the day. They said "no, we can not do that". I did not understand. Now, you can pull up to the curb, and they'll bring your order out, but not samples. But that's to be expected. My favorite is the lemon. I had it at a party once and it completely blew my mind. Cute new shop, I'm so glad we now have one in Pasadena! First tasted these babies a few years back at a food charity event, and I remember they were cut into little sample pieces and I probably ate a whole cake's worth. Today, in the store, I had to use all of my self-control to not swipe more than one sample of the lemon cake, so damn good. These cakes are simple but so moist. Definitely prefer these to cupcakes, they are lighter and never dry. The bundtlet is basically a giant cupcake, and at less than 5 bucks for one, a perfect treat or gift. I'm not the biggest fan of the frosting as it's too sweet for me, and the cake really doesn't need it and can stand on it's own. I have only tried lemon and strawberry cream, and lemon was better imo. I will have to go back to try the other flavors, solely for the sake of updating this review. Research purposes. I swear.
