Went in for a used car inspection Pro: Mechanic was friendly and probably good for simple stuff like oil change and replacing easy parts. Con 1: Did not use a damn car scanner, this is super basic and fundamental in diagnosis Con 2: He knows there is a bad axle and a bad motor mount and kept telling the seller it's only a small problem it doesn't have to be replaced for another 6 months. If they are broken they need to be replaced eventually. The seller then told me "see mechanic said it's not broken" Con 3: he inspected for less than 20 min! Worse $100 spent. Con 4: He did not catch the broken coolant cap, low coolant, and black engine oil. read more

After being involved in a hit and run and finding out that my deductible was too high for my car insurance to cover the damages, I visited several auto body shops for quotes on my Hyundai Sonata sport for a bumper paint repair. Even after finding out that my car paint was a triple coat paint job which required more work, Armen called me to assure that the price will stay the same, but that it will take a bit more time. WARNING: DO NOT COME HERE! If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Gosh where to begin.. I have emails, text messages, time stamped pictures, to back all this up. I swear there are so many other ridiculous details that this doesn't even close to cover it all. Sorry so long, I'm also half-venting from months of stress.. I brought my car t this business for repair work after being rear-ended (not at fault). During this time, the owner (Armen Shakhbayan) had me deal with his son Armen Jr. They agreed to complete all the work on the estimate from the accident and my car was in their shop from 5/18/16 through 06/08/2016 (21 DAYS). Communication/organization: Beyond poorly organized. I had to call regularly to check in and was only called day of to tell me to get my car, with 0 heads up 21 days later. The insurance company informed me that the shop (without my knowledge) had requested a supplemental from the insurance for body damage- and their unprofessional nature caused much of the 21 day delay. I had no way from looking at exterior upon pickup to tell if this body damage they got an additional $1600 for- was actually fixed (more on this later). They took so much time and money- the girl's insurance paid for only like half of rental, costing me $500 out of pocket (another thing to deal with) Upon picking up my car: * They had left my car parked on the street during, incurring 3 parking tickets, of which I had to pay for. * They did not complete the following work from accident/on estimate as agreed and were paid to do: - Scuffed black piece on bottom (which was supposed to be replaced entirely) - Obvious Trunk Dent * They did poor quality work or incorrectly: - Dripping paint - Un-buffed paint (obviously attracting dust only to that part of car) - Misalignment of bumper sticking out on sides from rest of car * They even caused more issues with car than before dropping it off: - Marks on car from prying off bumper - small light crack near marks (though they said not them) - MY TRUNK WOULD NO LONGER CLOSE!! More Communication/Org Issues: In dealing with Armen Jr to try and resolve he was RUDE, DEMEANING, CONDESCENDING AND DISRESPECTFUL. Though he did agree that it needed to be brought back again to fix admitting IT WAS THEIR FAULT- He lectured ME (an MBA and the customer who clearly they did a disservice to) on how I should do business (that I should not have shown them the estimate and negotiated a price- sorry I was honest?)... THEY REFUSED TO PAY FOR MY RENTAL/UBERS during this time my car was going to be at the shop again. I wanted to go to another shop but the insurance said I had to deal with this shop and have them complete the work they agreed upon doing since shop was already paid out in full I could no longer take on the stress and frustration in I asked to deal with Armen Sr. (I was later informed by Armen Sr. that Armen Jr was no longer working there). I felt I deserved compensation (or a rental at lea but after that hell- I just asked that ONLY THAT THE WORK BE DONE CORRECTLY AS LISTED ON ESTIMATE WHICH PAID FOR as they had agreed to- and to fix any ADDITIONAL DAMAGES THEIR SHOP CAUSED- and be done w them. In order to move things along, I took on the cost of paying for Uber rides (again, I'm too nice, I know) during time of re-work (though the many hours lost and stress caused by this shop due to their incompetence and behavior- far outweighed the cost of being without a car) Again there was so much repeat work of re-sending information they had, many many times- I finally dropped off my car again for the work to be done correctly once I could find a time convenient for THEM (..and to think, they lectured me on how to do business) -Again check-in a lot, letting them know how it effects my sched w no car (appt cxl fees etc.) Mon morning still wasn't sure if mon or tues- so i let him know Mon 3pm I cancelled tues appts "its fine, no rush- just want quality". HeCalled 4:45 Mon 15 min notice before closing to get my car with the option on leaving it on the street and my keys outside somewhere for me to find. Upon picking up my car, my car was in the following condition: * New damages: - There was speckled paint all along inside where the trunk closes (he tried to wipe off but failed) - There was now gap between my trunk and rest of car, exposing the body damage (which not surprisingly) was never fixed that they got paid for - Light is popping out of place (On the side with the marks before where bumper was sticking out from being misaligned) * They did not complete the following work from accident/on estimate as agreed and were paid to do: - The body damage (mentioned above) - Dripping paint still.. * Old damages they caused not fixed - Marks on car from prying off bumper When pointing these out- He kept telling me how grateful i should be for all the work they did on my car. Do not go here. They gave my car back with a huge chunk of the bumper missing, and refused to accept responsibility for it. I brought my Cadillac in because the oil was leaking, and they told me it would take 2 days to fix. Ended up being 12 days, and a piece of the front bumper was gone with black paint on the point of impact meaning they likely slammed it into another car. We got in a huge fight over who did it. The owner kept saying it required speed to cause the bumper to break off, so it couldn't of happened in their parking lot. So, they said it was my fault and I just hadn't noticed the damage until now. But if it didn't happen in a parking lot, and had to happen on a road, I think I would have noticed if I slammed my front bumper into another car. I'm even more furious now that I'm reading the other reviews on Yelp, because one person is saying that a worker of Pico Auto Center (there's two Pico Auto Centers on Yelp) took one of the cars out for a JOY RIDE and crashed into her. Which means, they likely did the same with my car - would explain where the speed came from. They fixed my car (I hope: the oil could still be leaking and I don't know yet), but ended up doing more damage to it in the process. The whole business is shady - they kept my car for almost 2 weeks (plenty of time to take it out for a joy ride), and the owner was not cooperative when I wanted him to compensate for the broken bumper. If I could leave negative stars I would, because my car now requires more repair after having just left this repair shop. Their initial price quote were very competitive and they stayed true to it. Their communication was consistent throughout the repair and they were very reliable when it came to answering my questions. I normally do my own maintenance work on my vintage Benz e300 but you can only do so much work before something makes it so you have to go to a pro -- the hood on my car had mysteriously become nonoperational and out of frustration, I decided to come into Nova to see if they could get it open, since they are nearby. Armen took a look and knew what had to be done and, in a couple of days, he fixed my hood. I also asked him to treat/repair rust on my hood and to do a paint job at an incredibly reasonable price. All was excellent: the rust repair/paint job was beautiful and the hood looked brand new, and would open and close with no problems when I picked it up...fast forward to 9 months later and time to do routine maintenance again -- My hood wouldn't open!! I immediately brought it back to Armen, who was the last person to open it and explained that he had to fix it. As nice as anyone could ever be, he agreed to fix it and this time even replaced a rusted spring and a few nuts/bolts that would eventually cause trouble down the line, for the most minimal cost (literally, two cups of coffee worth)! This is unheard of in the auto repair business (in my experience) and has won my trust with Nova and Armen and I will most definitely bring my vintage back here for repairs again. read more

It started as a quick sideview mirror repair. I was new in town and went to a mechanic located at Pico Auto Center at 8635 W. Pico, LA. I needed a quick fix and he put the mirror back on immediately while charging me nothing. Cut to a few weeks ago when my motor was ruined by a rock in the road that I could not avoid due to a cliff to my near right side and oncoming traffic approaching me on the other side while driving to Malibu on Mulholland Road. The rock created a hole in my oil pan deleting the car of all of the oil, thus ruining the engine. I went back to Armand at Pico Auto Center and he easily worked with my insurance company and i. Consequently, I received a brand new rebuilt engine from the factory thanks to Armand at a fair price and my car is fully repaired. The guys at Pico Auto Center are easy to work with while being FAIR and HONEST.
